Everybody hates Debt Collectors - well I had a some help and support from ZZPS.
The background - my son parked his car at a train station, input the wrong registration when buying his ticket and guess what next - a letter from parking company Saba demanding a £100 penalty or £60 if paid promptly.
We went online to make an appeal, sent proof of payment, but Saba did not reply.
So a month later, yesterday, debt collector ZZPS got in touch with a letter demanding the £100 + an admin fee of £70.
Keeping my cool, I called them and spoke to a very personable guy - Ross. Having discussed the matter and asking him to make notes on his file and stating that I needed to find the pdf of the ticket and receipt to continue the discussion, he interjected, stating that he could see that everything was a) kosher and b) that he could associate the payment the parking.
Outcome - Ross advised that there was no need to end the call, gather the info and call back. He advised that no payment was necessary and the matter closed.
I also learned something. I was of course angry at receiving the letter from ZZPS, but kept my cool when calling and remained polite. Ross in turn treated me with the same, non-assertive, non-aggressive respect.
Thank you ZZPS - if only Saba had got their act together earlier.
