I have been purchasing from Farnell since the mid 80's, for ten years as an employee and for nineteen years as a small business owner. I had a payment term structure that worked for both companies and for many years we enjoyed a very good working relationship.
Sadly since Avnet took over its become increasingly apparent that they are driving Farnell towards focusing on the bigger customers whilst squeezing the smaller ones. Gone are the sales visits from sales reps, gone is the personal manager and the choice of stock that they are making also reflects this shift in approach.
My credit term was changed out of the blue in Jan 2019, not because I had done anything wrong, far from it, I always paid on time. But because I wasn't spending enough. Since then life has been increasingly difficult with Farnell. Website changes, the discontinuation of popular through hole products (not enough demand apparently but their leading rival still stocks them) and an increasingly hostile atmosphere from accounts of late has tarnished what was a good relationship.
When large profits are the motivation for treating long terms smaller clients with disinterest, giving poorer payment terms simply because they are not happy with the monthly spend, lowering credit limits to an insultingly low level and putting the account on hold within 2 days of the end of the month as a result of the credit limit downgrade, I think its fair to say the Farnell of old is long gone and what is left is a subsidiary of a very greedy American company that doesn't really value reliable small customers.
There are other suppliers who are more than happy to fill the gap, appreciate the business I can give them and don't suddenly change the nature of agreed trading terms if my spend fluctuates as the business model alters to accommodate changes in the market place. What a pity though, Farrell used to be such a good and much valued supplier.

Latest website updates means the order tracking does not work correctly. It says 'Not yet shipped' for products that have actually been delivered, or orders on the way. Flagged it up to Farnell a while ago, but currently the problem is still there. Something as basic as this should not happen or be corrected quickly.

Ordered a part which was not in stock and turns out it had to be ordered from USA. Delivery took 5 days from order to delivery. Correct part, well packaged direct from USA and equipment for which it was required now working perfectly. Well done. Impressive service.

Whoever put 5 start to this company either first time users or non-engineers. I have been using farnell for 2 decades and I'm electronics development engineer in the UK. For last 6 years they are going backward disregarding customer (mostly engineers) requirements. Now their website has reached to a point it is unusable for engineers to select the right component. Filters and layout are awful. They used to have Digikey and Mouser kind of interface, but now someone decided to impress bosses by adopting the current template which is completely unusable, slow and disgusting for an engineer. I stopped ordering from Farnell a year ago and switched to Digikey/Mouser who are consistent and very engineer friendly interfaces. Recently had a look to see whether they have improved it..nope now even worst, with gay green colour template under a new owner. So my question is why are these companies going backward. It happened to RS 10 years ago. They used to have an interface like Digikey and decided to use the current, disgraceful template with useless filters. In order to save time selecting components, I said good bye to both Farnell and RS. Hope their inadequate management will see this.

Warning these guys use UPS delivery service which are a terrible delivery company as they don’t attempt delivery and prefer to drop your packages back at there depot for you to pick up!
Farnell seem to be happy with the way they deliver and you get no compensation for having to wait up to 3 days extra to receive your purchases. Coupled with the Stealth fees at the payment page for “Handling” I would suggest avoiding these guys and stick to a company that runs a bit more transparently and can reliably deliver to you without issues.

Farnell are a joke. After years of orders being flagged as out of stock I worked out that the website stock is 2 hours out of date. So when I purchase that last reel of ceramic caps that i was surprised to find in stock... you guessed it someone bought them 1 hour or more ago. Absolutely hopeless. Making out an order for a project can take half a day by the time you have found what is supposed to be in stock, then you get an email next day to say that half of it is out of stock and you have to start all over again!!!! i now use US suppliers as both RS and Farnell are hopeless which is a shame.

They’ve lost it. Trying to shop from them is hopeless. As far as I can tell, they don't even want to sell anything as their checkout page freezes up and of course, it does so after you have taken the time to fill in all the details. Been like this for weeks now. I contacted their ‘live chat’ support which is clearly farmed out to a company who employ no nothings who on the whole appear to be asleep on the job. I could put money on this company going in to administration by the end of the year. Feels like they already have to be fair.

I will never use their services again.
Bought a pair of cutters, sadly something must have been done wrong with the manufacturer and the product just simply does not do what it's supposed to do. So I ordered another one thinking I could return the faulty one.
Sadly both of them have the same problem and are literally useless. I mailed them for a refund and they gave me a RMA-number and said that ups would come by. But they didnt give me a tracking number. Had to contact ups and then i mailed them again do redo the whole thing and they gave me a tracking number and i called ups and apparently the just gave me the old tracking number even though the delivery failed two weeks ago.
Just horrible service to be honest when something goes wrong. The order itself and everything else worked fine but I do not feel comfortable ordering anything from them again when I know that they won't do **** to make it easy for you if a problem appears.

I ordered several products and half of it(worth 10% of the total value of the order) already arrived with a notice on the dispatch note that the rest of the components are out of stock and well be dispatched immediately they become available (estimated delivery date 28/01/2019).
I deliberately checked they were on stock and shipping time because we have to stick to a deadline.
It would have been nice to be noticed in time on the website or by email after placing the order about the actual state of the stock, receiving that information 3 days later was pretty inconvenient.

Don't use this company. I placed an order with them requesting next day delivery. They emailed me the same day to say they could not deliver in this timeframe to my area. They said they were cancelling the order and that I should order again. I duly ordered again. Later I found that I was charged for both orders. Farnell tells me that they have no copy of my original order so I should contact my bank. Obviously my bank tells me that Farnell have charged my credit card for the goods. I have emailed Farnell on 4 different occasions but I have not received a refund.Don;t use this company.

Purchased a thermal camera from this company costing circa £1500, their site said to use the voucher and get 10% off your purchase, this did not work. I called and spoke to several employees and a senior manager, they all refused to honour the voucher and amended the website. I had to contact trading standards before they made a small concession. I subsequently found out the camera's calibration expired after two weeks of my purchase, again they wasted my time for two days and then commented that they do not sell them calibrated, that is like buying a car with no MOT, the site was subsequently updated and I was again told no, and this was after I provided the proof they requested. Eventually, contacted the manufacturer in Sweden and the sorted the calibration for me. I will never give them a penny of my hard earned cash.

Edit: Package finally arrived. Farnell were as helpful as they could be, given the terrible serviced provided by UPS.
Have been waiting over a week for a next day service so far. Farnell insist on using UPS, so first they sent it to Germany by accident, then they pretended to delivery it, then they missed us at a "second delivery" after end of business on new year's eve. Hopefully they will attempt "final" delivery of the next-day order on Wednesday, which will be 10 days delivery.

Devastating experience the order did not ship when they said, I had to call 10 times to get that done and they wasted a morning of work, from 9am to 11:30am on the phone as they alleged my bank was not processing when the mistake was on their end. However, they preferred to waste my time than checking the state of things. The item was shipped much later then agreed and only after I talk to two clerks as the first one was totally incapable. I asked for a refund and that was denied as well. Totally not acceptable. Arrogant.

Always on time, if there is a problem I receive prompt and polite phone call explaining the situation and its solution. Moreover, missing part, no problem they will send you new one without asking a question. This is the best service I experienced for many years.

Having always had good experiences with Farnell in the past, and used Farnell as my preferred supplier, however, I am working on a proof of concept, and needed some elementary information on some parts so I could design a circuit to support this project.
Here we are a few weeks later, and there is no information yet from Farnell despite me chasing regularly. For about 10 days the technical support person has not responded to my requests for a schedule for when the information should be available.
So, I asked the CEO to assist, and have not had any reply, which I now find rather rude.
As a result, I am looking at alternative suppliers, and am likely to move all my business from Farnell, which is a shame as a result of one bad experience offsetting years of good experiences.
I am likely to move to Digikey and RS now.

As long as you choose items that are in stock in the UK they always appear the next morning - without having to pay extra for guaranteed delivery. Pricing can be very good on a lot of things so good for production runs as well as samples for development.
