They are absolute scumbags when it comes to needing any type of customer service whatsoever. My husband injured himself and won't be able to attend any of the races this year, but he would have been totally willing to have them push his credit to next year, and they refused to that or give us a refund. I've contacted my bank, and I recommend anyone in this situation to do the same. They won't work with you at all, which is ridiculous, because they are making PLENTY of money. We had already done two races with them this year, and would have done many more over our lifetime, but they won't get another dime out of us now.

A total rip off.
If I could give it lower that one star, I would.
I signed of for a $99 deal on the website. It said “click here”... I did, put in the code.... the code didn’t work. I signed up and then contacted them to get my correct code. I wanted to let them know that their web button wasn’t working correctly. They said they couldn’t give me a refund because I had already signed up (this was 2 minutes later). I told them I contacted them to let them know that their web button wasn’t working correctly, and I just wanted the advertised rate. That took a week, a manager, and at least 7 emails to solve.
I ended up getting injured training. I contacted them back.... NO REFUND. But you can defer the race. Ok fine. So I click deferral. $32 to defer to next year. seriously? Ok. You have to pay this before you move on. Urughhh. Ok fine. Payed that... they sent me a code for $99 off entry fee! WHAT????? The price is $140. I contacted them back... “Sorry... you have to pay the deferral fee first.... and then the balance”. I told them that information was not available when I was clicking the deferral. Everyone would assume that the deferral fee IS the fee. So I payed a fee..... to get a discount code? I did NOT pay the difference. I figured if I did that... there would be another few after that. I cut my losses.
I told them I was going to write the better business bureau about their questionable business practices.

Ordered shoes from them and got a pair of used shoes with mud on the soles. Waiting for a reply.

Complete Rip Off! It is really unfortunate that such a popular race can have such terrible customer service. I was saddened to see that so many other people leaving reviews have also had frustrating experiences.
I was all signed up to do my second race in November 2018 after having a great experience on my first race last year in April. Unfortunately, I got into a bad car accident in August 2018 so I was unable to race in November. After e-mailing Spartan customer service I was told I could defer my race until next year. I was not told that it would cost me an additional $38 just to defer my race, as if I was choosing to defer just because I didn't feel like racing. Fast forward to the present day, I am still suffering from injuries from the accident so am still unable to race now or any time in the near future. After emailing them a second time last week asking for a refund and offering to provide legitimate documentation from lawyers and doctors pertaining to my injuries preventing me from racing, I was told I am not able to receive a refund and they completely disregarded my documentation. They did say that I could transfer the race over to a friend, but I do not know anyone who is planning on racing so that is completely unhelpful.
I lost a total of $173.48 to this company for events that are completely out of my control. If I am ever better to race again, I will be sure to choose a different company.

The event was okay, extremely disappointed that these guys make so much profit and take advantage of local woodland and farm land, but do nothing to protect the environment or event help to clean up woods!
Their volunteers obviously volunteer for free so them wouldn't care less about small things they leave behind, but people use SIS drinks NUCCA one of their sponsors energy drink and all that left in teh woods! In addition they see rubbish but don't even both to help and clean it up!
Water distribution so many plastic cups left after the event it was unbelievable! They have no environment policies only interested to make money! Shame on them! I did the event once and wouldn't do it again just because of the reasons above!

I recently made a purchase on spartan race shop and put a wrong address down. Immediately after my purchase I realized what I had done and attempted to find a contact so that I could change the address before it shipped out. There is no number to call, so I was left sending an email to customer support, which I did within 30 minutes after the purchase. It took them over a day to respond, and in that time the order shipped. I was told that the order shipped and I could contact the carrier and get them to change it. I did this, but the carrier said that spartan had to call and change it. I then contacted the customer service agent again and he said there was nothing he could do. I was not issued a refund and told that this was my fault and his hands were tied. It seems to me that if there is no way to change a mistake immediately, that is in fact not my fault, but poor managing by spartan. People make mistakes. I am very disappointed in the customer service by Spartan.

Save your money cause Spartan races wants to take ALL of it. I wish I could say good things about Spartan races but I just can't. Yes the races are fun/challenging but it seems to be nothing but a money grab. No customer service, ridiculous fees. They have got to be making LOADS off of all of us chumps and laughing all the ay to the bank.

This is a money grab company, while the races were fun, to deal with customer services (no phone number) is going back to a third world country. They basically rip you off to defer races even when there is a serious situation that keeps you from attending. Basically, I had to defer two races because I was going out of the country in an emergency and when I came back I was told that the defer codes were expired as they expire after 90 days. IT's in the FAQ!!!!! Unbelievable, you pay ridiculous money to attend, you pay to defer almost $30 per race and then they tell you that you have to race in 90 days.....They lost me and my team! FOREVER!

Terrible transfer/defer of registration. I have a major life issue that is preventing me from running the race in October. To transfer my registration to another person will cost $40. To transfer to another race with be $40 + I will not get full credit for the amount I paid (paid $125 and they will only give a $69 credit to another OF THEIR RACES). There are many other races and events that treat their athletes better and I will stick with them.
