Non-existent customer service. It seems customer care is not their priority. I've been waiting for days for a response to my email enquiry.

This is totally a company that screams “we don’t care”.

Seriously do not want to be forced to sign up for streaming in order to listen to music I've already purchased on my playlist. I don't leave bad reviews ever but this pisses me off! I want a refund for all my sonos speakers. We entered into an agreement at the time of purchase thinking we could use our playlist from our phone. I also don't like being forced to do an update each time I open the app. Other apps give you an option to update. Sonos causes you to lose the moment when you have guests over your house, by forcing you do a 3 minute update. This is ridiculous!

I have 2 Sonos Play 1 speakers the only way I use them is playing music direct from my phone. Sonos have now removed this feature. I was looking at buying a Sonos TV sound bar. This won’t happen. I will never buy another Sonos product ever again. It’s bang out of order making people buy your products then removing their ability to use it. It’s like buying a car from Ford then ford taking away the wheels.
Sonos are bang out of order!

Disappointed and angry. Spent £500 on a system that skips tracks, stops for no apparent reason and to top it all failed to play at all a playlist for a family function it had taken 3 days to put together! The speakers are pretty good when they work but the connectivity is rubbish.
Wouldn't recommend this system to anyone. Probably need extra long ethernet cables to connect speakers to my computer - so much for wifi!!

Quite Frankly very disappointed in Sonos and feel cheated.
You develop a product that allows me to play music off my iPhone.
Then change your mind and decide not to support it anymore, disgraceful your product carries a premium price and is now less functional.
It appears you have just walked away from it after people have spent money on this kit.

Pity that 1 is the lowest I can give. It's the biggest hype going. After hours and hours of frustration and at least 2 hours of talking to their 'help centre', their 'experts' advise me that I have connectivity issues and say it 'should help' if I hard wire the speakers. It's the worst purchase I've ever made by far.

When I bought my Sonos speakers, I told the gentleman at the NY store that I had a music library of over 6500 entries, and over 50 playlists curated over the years - all on Apple/iTunes. I was told that Sonos was designed to work with Apple so it would be perfect for me. Two and a half years later, I can do everything BUT play my own music. It doesn't work with iTunes, nor does it work with the music format that was Apple's default for years. So, after calling Sonos customer service, I was scolded that "You were told that iTunes wouldn't work on Sonos for several months." Just not 2 1/2 years ago when I bought the system. Their solution? Convert my entire library to a different format, compatible with Sonos and rebuild my entire music library so I can play it on Sonos. That would have taken, literally, days. Instead, I will buy a different system, thank you very much. And I'll sell my Sonos to the next sucker.

Spent thousands on their systems so I could play music directly from iPhone and then they removed the functionality without warning and no attempt to fix this with Apple. Borderline criminal!

I purchase my first Sonos connect amp many years ago. At that time customer service was quick, easy and accessible. Over the years customer service has gone down tremendously and their "service" hours have shrunk. When they make updates to the system, they drop features and make you're overpriced equipment more obsolete as time goes by.
I would not recommend Sonos if you intend to expand to more than 2 units. I would not recommend Sonos unless you actually have a professional install them, which adds to the cost and therefore you may be better off buying another product which would be less expensive and equally good in terms of sound quality.

I would like to register my disappointment of Sonos. I paid a lot of money for Sonos speakers only to find after three years I can no longer do what I originally bought the system for and that is to stream my music from my iPhone. I hope Sonos management read all these bad reviews and realise what they have done.

When it works its great. But if I have to reset the system or remove the app and redownload it again only to find the version is still out of date I'll throw the piece of crap against the wall. The main issue is the temperamental software. it seems if the software on the speaker updates before the software on the app or vice versa neither of the systems talk to each other properly and it takes days to sort itself out. Seriously considering selling this item

Do not buy off this company. Software awful. Deprecate features without warning or consultation rendering speakers useless

No stars would be more appropriate.
I bought the Sonos Play:1 system to play my own music from my iPad. Over 5000 tunes most of which are not available on streaming services. I no longer can play them unless I replace all my units that are less than 2 years old. I am told if I subscribe to a streaming service I can stire my music on it and stream it when I want. This is unacceptable.
Sonos has severely altered it’s terms of service. I have seldom been this angry with a product. It would appear I am not alone.
Tell everyone you know about this fraud to sell more product and change the very essence of their product,

Beware of buying these speakers if you are considering...a greatly engineered product with terrible support and many restrictions. The app is non-intuitive and you wait on the phone for 20 minutes only to talk to a customer service rep that couldn't find their butt with both hands.

I will never buy a SONOS product ever again. I invested in a Play 1 because of the EASY connectivity to my iPhone something which you have now removed and instead your speaker makes a rather expensive doorstop in my lounge!
I rarely complain but feel very annoyed and disappointed at being duped into buying a product that no longer delivers on its promise. I will be seeking a more reliable speaker brand in the near future.

Incredibly frustrating experience. Great hardware fatally undermined by appalling connectivity over a very strong Wi-Fi network (60MB speed). Daily drop-outs, constant rebooting, sometimes works, mostly doesn’t. All i want is a stable connection to play music. How have Sonos got the reputation they have? This is a very poor product totally unfit for purpose. I am not into leaving bad reviews but feel compelled to do so in this instance. Avoid unless you can hard-wire - and even that I have found messes with my network. Goodness knows what’s going on!

SONOS IS TERRIBLE. Do not ever buy this product. For those of us that have to throw away our speakers we wouldn’t give them to our worst enemy. To say they are a major disappointment is a huge understatement. Most people desire compatibility with their iPhones personal playlists. Yet the company is not transparent on easy solutions to remedy this problem for which many of us have invested significant monies to utilize in our home. This is a huge disappointment for many.
Our time is valuable and they do not care about their customers. Lots of double talk. Lots of complicated workarounds. If they gave us a simple affordable solution perhaps many of us would not be so disappointed and frustrated. But they have continued to go downhill.
Bottom line :
1) Please Do not think about buying this speaker system.
2) please encourage others to tank them on the ratings so perhaps Sonos might act to try to properly remedy this problem and professionally work with Apple before their company (Sonos) goes bankrupt. Sonos’ functionality is 100% worthless to many of us that rely on our iPhones ...

A bit cumbersome to set up. Once done, good quality sound. Gawd forbid you change your router later, as re-connecting is nightmarish. Online support tried...no success. The re-connection (after router change) instructions were inconsistent with my model. Attention to detail lacking with this company. I'm tossin' it!

Have bought 4 Play Ones
All set up and playing my music from my IPhone and IPad sometimes around all 4
NOW..nothing, SONOS have removed the ability to play your music from your Ipad and IPhone
Some goobldegook about using music services, but these don’t work either
Truly a reprehensible decision by SONOS especially when they sell and show how ‘easy’ it is to play your music from your own systems
Don’t buy SONOS, who knows what else they will stop, change after fleecing customers

Im sorry SONOS, but this wont do.
I went from having a hifi-system with cables, amps and floorspeakers (Cerwinvega) 1500€ from very early 2000 to a SONOS setup for around 4.000€ in 2018. And maaaaaan am i disappointed... All these flashy "cinema quality sound" and "the sub is delivery deep professional bass"....
I have no issues at all to play music, select sources or connect anything, the issue i have is with the quality - Sonos can not deliver and the system starts failing when going up in volumes (plastic sound, bass cuts out and sound sounds blown out). It was supereasy to connect things like spotify (Which i personally never use, i only play high quality music from local media via 3,5 jacket). So if you like wifi and wirless shtt, Sonos might be for you. But you get the soundquality it brings to.....
Go buy a "old dumb system" for a fourth of the price and it will deliver a better and louder sound-experience.
- Easy to connect
- Easy to add additional speakers
- 1 cable instead of 2 (power cable)
- Sound quality of the playbar (plastic sound)
- Sound quality and bass of the sub (no deep base, cant even feel the bass)
- Sound quality of the playFIVE (reaaaaaly plastic sound)
- The price
- Unable to play your local media through wifi, you have to get a playFIVE or additional equipment to connect via 3.5 jacket.

Sonos developers - you flippin' muppets!
I switch on Sonos tonight, It won't respond unless I opt for the update. The update doesn't work, it's 'not available'.
Where is the option that says "well just play my music on the old version, because I have all these guests here and it would be nice to play some music, just like the system managed to do yesterday..."
Instead, all the guests hear is what a pile of crap Sonos is.
Sorry, but I really feel upset about this.

So many issues with the connection... it keeps forgetting your
All I am looking for is a system that plays music at the push of a button... but with Sonos every other time I want to play music I have to spend an unpredictable amount of time unpluging speakers or updating an app or closing and reopeing it or restarting my router or browsing forums for help...

Just heard that they will no longer support iPhone or iPad - i.e. they will not allow us to use an iPhone or iPad to stream music to Sonos! This is why I purchased Sonos - are they going to recall or offer compensation for the 6 Sonos devices I have? They should. Suggest we start a class action against Sonos for compensation .... anyone interested?
