If I could give zero stars, I would. The decline in quality is typical of a buyout or investor partnership. I did some research and noticed that Brentwood Associates "partnered" up with Soft Surroundings in 2016.
I was a satisfied customer of Soft Surroundings for many years until 2018 when the last two orders I made were substandard quality, almost transparent fabric, clothing made in China, etc., while still charging a higher price! It is very disappointing, as a consumer, to be duped by corporations who take over a reputable business, inject poor quality into said company, and continue to do business as usual! All the while, riding on the coattails of what was once a company I would have rated 5 stars! Thus, leaving it up to the consumer, after unsatisfactory purchases, to put two and two together, while they make a profit on our ignorance of their questionable business practices. How unsavory and shameful!! Please! Do yourself a favor, do not do business with this company! By the way, they also invested in Chicos and Boston Proper.

My order took over 6 weeks to arrive. When it did arrive it was wrong. In the interim, I closed the original credit card I used to purchase the items. I needed to return an item so I contacted customer service who told me that if the card is closed the company would issue me a check. 3 weeks later I receive an email telling me that my refund would be credited back to the original card (which is now closed). When I explained what the original customer service rep told me about sending a check, I was told that there was no way for them to do that and they were sorry I received the incorrect information. Now I have to contact the credit card company to try and get the funds. They don't know what their doing. Don't waste your money. They used to be wonderful.

I was all ready to not like my order when it was delivered. Then it arrived. It did take longer to get here than I liked. The packaging was like unwrapping a birthday present. It was very beautifully packaged!
When I got to the dress, it fit perfectly. The fabric was exceptionally soft and hung well. I love it and will order another. The necklace was beautiful and beautifully packaged. It was well worth what I paid for it.
Lastly, was the tee shirt with the underwire bra. It is the best I have ever seen And I will be ordering more. All in all, I love Soft Surroundings and will shop there much more!!

My review is for the outlet, don't know if the company is one and the same as Soft Surroundings... Anyway, I ordered from them a couple months ago, the items didn't fit and I wasn't pleased with the fabric either. Such a shame because the catalogue pictures looked so great. So I returned everything. I was shocked how long the return took, I think they deducted an amount for return shipping, and then it goes with a service that takes 2 weeks, that is outrageous! Then after the tracking info showed packaged received back at their place, I still waited at least a week to get the refund because they had a backlog at their end checking in returns... should be a hint that they have lots of returns maybe because sizing is off or quality issues? I thought that is an unreasonable amount of time, and they kept telling me the same story for days when I called an inquired, I got very concerned if I will ever see my refund. I got my money back eventually, then I unsubscribed immediately from their mailings.

Terrible customer service. Two months later, I still don't have my 3 purchases and one was canceled though they never informed me of that. What kind of an online retailer can stay in business in this competitive environment when their "expected ship dates" are three weeks out from the order date, then two months later, you still haven't gotten the item? I've ordered things from Russia and gotten them quicker. Unsubscribed from their mailing list and telling my friends who think their catalog is so awesome not to bother.

I love the clothes but you have to wait two months for some products. this doesn't just happen once...its all the time. they don't have enough of colors sizes ECT. it's happened to me on multiple occasions! customer service no help! if you want it now forget it!

This is the second time I've ordered from Soft Surroundings. I like their styles and I ordered a top online around a year ago. Although the original 'expected to ship date' on the order confirmation was longer than typical for an online retailer (about four weeks), I decided the top was worth waiting for since I was in no rush. A few days before the 'expected to ship' date listed on the order confirmation arrived, I received an email stating that the item was on back order and that it would be delayed another four weeks. At that point, I cancelled the order. Thinking that last year's experience was just an anomaly, I decided to try again. I ordered a velvet top (on 11/7) specifically for a holiday party I am planning to attend. The ship date listed on the order confirmation was 12/4, plenty of time for my 12/15 party (I thought). I just received an email today (12/9) stating that that ship date has been moved until 12/21 (no explanation offered)- too late for the party. I attempted to cancel today by phone, but they have no customer reps. available on Sundays (even though this is the holiday shopping season and it would reasonably be expected). I will need to call on Monday during their voicemail's stated business hours to attempt to cancel the order. Then I will need to rush out to purchase another top.
I normally do not write scathing reviews- only good reviews, if warranted. If I receive poor customer service from a company, I just don't order again. However, I feel that this company's process is a scam. This is based upon my own experiences and also the multiple reviews from other dissatisfied customers. Customer service does not have to be as prompt or as efficient as Amazon's, but it needs to be reasonable. BUYERS BEWARE!!!

Over the last few years, I have ordered multiple items from SS and had mixed results. The leggings I have ordered have fit well and been durable over time. The tops have been a mixed bag of both quality of craftsmanship and accurate sizing. I have noticed a general dissatisfaction in the reviews of individual products on their website which have influenced my ordering. Other than the leggings, for the quality of the product, the prices are inflated. Likely will stick with purchasing leggings and forego buying of anything else. Rating given with leggings in mind.

I would have given them 0 stars but like this company in general, this review site doen't function properly. Do not order from Soft Surroundings or God forbid buy anyone a gift certificate. I tried several times to redeem one and it was problematic everytime, to the point where I just threw it away unredeemed. Bad company!

I love looking at the catalogs but when I order online, I don't see the same items as in the catalog. Also, when I order online, many of the items are not in my size or discontinued. Not worth the aggravation.

For the past several years I see beautiful garments in the catalogs but low quality (for prices) delivered to my house. It didn’t used to be this way with this company. Classic bait and switch schemes recently.
For my last purchase I posted a negative review. Soft surroundings did not post it. That’s why I’m here. Be careful and buy big sale. The quality is not worth the price and you can’t trust the reviews anymore.

My wife was prepared to order about $600 worth of items on softsurroundings.com but when she was ready to check out she was informed that there would be a shipping charge of $32. She decided to buy her items elsewhere. Charging for shipping is why Amazon is kicking every other retailers' butts.

I got a gift certificate for Christmas. There is not a store in my area. I ordered several items online and paid shipping which was on the steep side. None of the items fit me even though I relied on the sizing chart. I return them and lost headway again for being charged the return shipping. I lost over $36 out of the gift card because of their sizing chart. I would not order online from this company again.

I'd give customer service @ Soft Surroundings "zero" stars if I could. I was lied to at each step of the purchasing processing. Within minutes of placing my order I received an email notifying me that 2 of the 4 items were not available. I phoned customer service and they assured me all 4 items were being shipped to me via FedEx.
This morning (4 days after the online purchase was made) I learned the package had arrived in Kansas City, MO and it would take an additional 7 days to get to me in South Florida. I phoned customer service (in Guatemala) to try to expedite the order and the first representative (Mario) told me he was unable to make that change. He mentioned it takes 3-5 business days to receive items. His supervisor (Krista) told me orders take 7-10 business days. I think it's time for Mario to be retrained.
For the record when you place an online order they DO NOT GIVE YOU ESTIMATES FOR SHIPPING DELIVERY TIMES. Had they been honest about this I would have either chosen to expedite the shipping or canceled the order because their shipping charges are high.
I asked Krista if they utilized the USPS as I KNOW shipments do not take that long to get from Kansas City, MO to Florida with FedEx ground. She told me no. A quick call to FedEx confirmed that the "mark post" package is in fact being transported via USPS. Thank you Krista for your honesty. :)
I haven't received the items yet, so another review will be forthcoming. I've been receiving catalogs for years. This is the first time I've ordered from this company and the experience so far has been very disappointing. Their customer service is awful and dishonest. I won't be ordering again.

Postage is high $17.95 and portions of P&H are nonfundable. It cost me $21 just to try on items -- good, high-quality fabrics -- that did not fit. The $20 gift certificate I had did not apply to postage. I am not going to pay $21 for the privilege of a try-on. It's too great a risk. The customer service rep was courteous, but she does not set company policy.

I placed an order June 4, 2017, today is June 17, 2017 and I have not received my order. I notified Soft Surroundings June 14, 2017and I was told that they would expedite my order in 2 days. Worst customer service! I do not recommend buying anything from Soft Surroundings ever!!!

Hi, I was placing an order while a popup screen informed me that I qualified for 15% discount on my next item. I chose next item, and I saw one more time info about qualifying for discount 15% up to two items. While checking out , the promised discount was not applied, therefore I had chat with CService, Alex who explained that I was probably removing some items from the cart back and fort, thus the discount will not be applied (?!) However he promised to send an email with explanation and that the discount will be applied manually.. Ha Ha Ha , I am still waiting for the email... bad experience

It happened to me more than once. The first time I found an item that I liked, PAID for it, WAITED for it to arrive, and instead I received a letter stating that the item was not available anymore.....hmm it was available when I paid for it. And now I saw it happened right in front of my eyes, while on the phone with their customer service department. Suddenly the items where no longer in my cart, and they where given to another customer. Soft surroundings will pull items out of your cart even after you have entered your visa/mc. You can never be certain you will receive an item. THEY KNOW THEY HAVE this problem an they will not rectify it. So buyer beware you might never get what you think was in your cart....really wasn't afterall. I have cancer and I am no longer able to work, so it was hard buying Christmas present this year, but I found these boots at soft surroundings that were normally about $275 and I was getting them 70% off after Christmas. I don't know how much time I have left as a cancer patient, so I was beyond thrilled to be able to give those I love such an awesome gift. But when Soft Surroundings took them out of my cart....all I could do was cry. Customer service is going to give me a $25 dollar gift certificate. yeah, like I will be able to purchase $900 worth of boots with that. And they really don't care.
