I tried Rosetta Stone for a week or so. I found that another program I had been using was as good and it was free. There wasn’t a way for me to go ahead to find my level so I left Rosetta Stone.

So far so good, I feel that I have made progress in only 2 months. I'm excited to find myself thinking in Italian every now and then. Can't wait to complete the course and see how fluent I am by then.

Great so far, still learning...

You need to have translation for all the lessons rather than just some. Making a student look up all the words is cumbersome and just slows down the learning process. The program needs improvement.

easy to follow and build upon lessons, including pronunciation that is difficult for me. i also contacted Support and they were excellent - and i was only on hold for 3 minutes before speaking with a live person! i will continue to use Rosetta Stone

I appreciate how Rosetta Stone lays a vocabulary foundation and then builds on it, consistently reinforcing earlier lessons as the course progresses.

It doesn’t explain why changes to certain words are made. No way to figure out what you did wrong when you get stuck.

I have tried a course through an online course for our local junior college, Pimsler, Babbel and Rosetta. The Rosetta is the best hands down, and it is a much better value than the others, in my opinion. The emersion format seems to make the vocabulary more memorable. The pictures are key to the learning. I am dropping Babbel in favor of Rosetta.

The only major critique is for the listening of pronunciation portion of the lessons. It is sometimes too picky and sometimes gives a green light when I’ve made a big mistake.
Only small critique is that for each “page” of questions, I know that after answering all but one, the last picture is the correct answer because it’s the only one left. I don’t even need to look at the question.

Just what you need... Paid off in my trips to Normandy and the Paris.
In Tanzania, my guides in Kilimanjaro and Meru didn’t have English; Rosetta Stone came through.
The courses are so good that I started Latin. The goal is to read Caesar’s Gallic Wars.

The program has made a difference with my learning the selected language. What would help further is applying the language somehow more.
I wish I could own the language like your program allowed in the past versus this annual fee.
Thank you, it did help.

The program is really enjoyable, easy to understand, there is one thing that I would like to comment, when the voice says e.g.
Il passaporto e Sulla tavolo, and you have to point out the image that goes with the words but the letters of the phrase don’t show until all images have been shown and pointed out, the problem is that when the words finally show on top of the images they don’t stay but not even two seconds not giving time to check the words to memorize them.
I hope you understand what I’m talking about.

I don't think Rosetta Stone is worth the time nor the money. I would recommend looking at other options out there that are much more effective.

While I did learn some words from this program, I did not find it useful beyond that. It would be helpful to see a translation of what I was saying instead of just parroting the words and phrases. The speech recognition software worked for the most part, but sometimes it would make me repeat a word multiple times before it recognized it. I will look for a different program to continue on.

This is a very effective program for me. It took some getting used to because words are introduced not by "definition" but by photo and by placement in a sentence context. It is hard work to go through the lessons (my brain gets tired) but it works because whole sentences make sense. I benefit a lot from listening to the sound alone when I can't watch the screen, just to hear the sounds over and over. On a recent trip to China, I was able to use a few phrases and my hosts told me my accent was good.
