I purchased a puppy from Ramos Boston Terrier for $850. Various charges for shipping, crate, paperwork etc. ending in a total of 3000 paid via Apple Pay. Going back and forth with him and his so called partners I’m convinced he’s the same person. I noticed I’m not alone here. He is scamming so many people and looking back I realize all the red flags. He threatened to send people to my home if I reported him and his scam. Unfortunately he’s not going to stop until he’s caught. Be careful when on his sites he has multiple locations and it’s all a scam!

I purchased a puppy from Ramos Boston Terriers on Monday June 29th. I sent Cody a deposit for $500 via Apple Pay - I explained to him that I fell in love with a puppy named Abigail on his website but that i wouldn’t have the full amount to purchase her until my check cleared the next day - but I didn’t want anyone else to buy the puppy so I paid him $500 to put a hold on her then the very next day I paid him another $450. Abigail (the boston Terrier puppy) was $800 and I was told same day shipping would be $100 and delivery to my home would be another $50 - so I paid $950 in total! The next morning Cody sent a message saying he took the dog to the shipping company and that I would hear from them shortly! I did receive an email (which went to my spam folder) but the website seemed legitimate as it stated they work with Delta and Continental airways and that they checked for all vet paperwork, the puppies health and for proper documentation before putting the puppy on her flight to TN (she was being sent to me in CA). They also required a 100% refundable insurance policy for $1000 - which I paid to this shipping company via Apple Pay to a random address he asked for me to send it to! I did this because I was told it would be returned to me upon her safe arrival! So after the insurance was paid they finally put her on a plane to TN...they then called me when she (supposedly) arrived in TN and said a vet was looking all the puppies over before putting them on their next flight! I got a call 45 minutes later saying the puppy required an air conditioned crate due to the weather change and to keep her comfortable! The rental fee for this was absolutely ridiculous at $1500!! I explained to the shipping guy that I couldn’t afford that and that all I had left was $1100 - he said that would suffice and that the money (98% of it) would then be returned to me along with the $1000 insurance refund upon the puppy’s safe arrival!!! As I’m writing this all out I realize how stupid I was for falling for this - but when you think you’re responsible for the health and safer of a puppy that’s supposedly being sent to you, you do what you can to keep the animal comfortable!! So, after all this, a few hours later, I was finally given another tracking number for her flight from TN to CA - she was going to arrive at John Wayne airport at 2:45 in the morning and they told me they wouldn’t do home delivery after midnight and that she would be brought to my home the next day between 9 and 11 am! I finally started to get suspicious and expressed my worries and panic to the man at the shipping company (who I strongly believe is in fact Cody - it’s my opinion that it’s the same person but they may just be partners) and he became argumentative with me and kept telling me to calm down! My sister then looked into this for me and she found another complaint against Cody but it was with a yorkie puppy website - word for word of this woman’s scam report is exactly what happened to me!!!! Different puppy website and company but same man and phone number as the man I was dealing with at Ramos Boston Terriers!! I immediately called my bank and explained the situation but a small part of me wondered if my puppy would eventually show up at my door! Finally, this morning I got another call from the shipping guy, immediately after I sent Cody a text expressing my disappointment, which is why I believe it’s the same person - within 30 seconds of me sending Cody the message along with the screenshot of the scam report from the other woman who tried purchasing a yorkie from Cody, the shipping guy then called me threatening to end the sale since I was “threatening their reputation” were his exact words! THEN he proceeded to tell me that my puppy was at the CA border in quarantine and all that they needed was for me to sign another document and to PAY ANOTHER AMOUNT OF $360 - at this point I lost it, I told the man I was not giving them any more money, that I did not believe a word they were saying, and that I didn’t believe there was even a puppy to begin with! They weren’t up front about anything and just kept asking for more and more money along the way! Of course a part of me still feared that I was putting a cute little puppy in danger and just leaving her in quarantine at the CA border - but I think it’s pretty obvious based on everything I’ve explained here ☝️ that there was no puppy to begin with! This was a terrible experience and both men (or the same man) Cody and the man at the bogus shipping company were very argumentative and defensive and made me feel like I was the one being ridiculous!!
I paid $3050 through Apple Pay in 4 separate pymts to 3 different Apple Pay numbers and addresses over a 3 day period!!! I have opened an investigation with my bank and I’m hoping they will be able to reverse these payments or return my money to me somehow!! I feel ridiculously stupid for falling for this - as nothing like this has ever happened to me before! Lesson learned!!!! I will try to attach the other woman’s complaint below so that you are able to see I’m not alone in this and to proceed with caution when purchasing a puppy on the internet!!! Please look out for this Cody Barette and for this shipping company https://universallogistics.world/
