Inititally in July 2019, I was astonished to see how quickly cashback amount was shown in my ebates.ca (now, rakuten.ca) account on 14/07/2019. It also stated, cashback amount will be paid on 16/08/2019. If it would have happened, I would have definitely continued with rakuten with - spread positive word - and, rakuten would have deserved five stars.
However, nothing like that happened. Rakuten unilaterally moved cashback date from 16/08/2019 to 16/11/2019 (over 5 months after purchase).
Moreover, later on, when I went to rakuten's account to make another purchases; I realized that rakuten.ca has blocked account.
It may be because of their system prob or changing hands from ebates to rakuten. This is unprofessional business.
Any ways, I made purchases through my previous cashback providers Topcashback and GCR but, rakuten lost a lifetime customer along with mouth to mouth and social media positive publicity in free.
In light of above, rakuten.ca left a very bitter taste. Thankfully (!), their TV advertisements now actively reminds me to actively share frustrating experience with peers, friends, forums and family!
I wish, they would have observed some basic customer care service.

My two cents - Avoid rakuten.ca. Your account remains open until you have zero or only few bucks in your rakuten's cashback account. Once you have cashback in two digits, in 95% of cases, rakuten blocks your account to avoid payment to you. Rakuten.ca is a complete waste of time.
Huge NO to for regular online shopping!

ebates is a great service! My only suggestion could be that it should be clearer how and when we will get the cashback.

It seems, there is something terribly wrong with rakuten (ebates).ca.
My cashback has been now delayed for approximately 8 months. When I wrote, I did receive email from M*****a, supervisor on 27.08.2019 (I would not prefer to write supervisor's name here because, they are people like us - doing job. There is nothing personal). The email is as below:
"Member Services (Ebates.ca)
Aug 27, 19:54 CDT
Thank you for taking the time to write to us. I am very sorry for the delay in sending out your payment from Ebates. We will soon process your payment, and I will see that it is issued within the next 5 business days. Your patience is appreciated.
Member Services Supervisor"
(Email is as it is, I have just hidden the name)
I was kind of a relieved by Supervisor's promise. I even thought, I will correct the rating once I will receive the cashback.
However, five business days are already over! No real cashback $$ till now. I did some searches, and found there are many negative reviews regarding ebates.ca for no payout or delayed cashback etc. That makes me believe, the $$$ reflected in ebates (rakuten).ca account is virtual $$$, which are not paid out reality.
It seems, are they going through funding crisis? The on-going television advertisements are their last resource to get more new customers? Is so, rather than huge spending on advertisements, shouldn't one make current customers happy for mouth to mouth publicity?

Bad cashback experiene - they simply extended the payout date for next three months, (Really Ebates. ca / or now Rakuten???). Is this your business practice?
The eligible purchase was made in first week of June 2019. At least until first week of August 2019; ebates.ca account continued to show "Cashback of $7.44 will be paid out on 16/August/2019". Then........ they suddenly extended cashback payment date to 16/November/2019 without any information/providing any reason.
Meaning, a cashback payment is now delayed for at least 3 more months with unpredictable outcome even on 16/Nov/2019. Thus, in reality, it's a delay of more than 6 months from date of purchase (If at all Ebates.ca will payout on 16/November/2019). Some ebates.ca reviewers have already raised concerns regarding this.
Readig some of the bad reviews here; it seems, some customer service rep are intentionally "playing/delaying/extending" payment date or ebates.ca is running in losses or ebates.ca earns interest by delaying payment.
In any of these scenario, customer must be paid on committed date - Like some old saying - "Payment (justice) delayed is payment (justice) denied".
If payment would have issued on 16/August 2019; I would have surely given more stars because, everything went well until first week of August 2019. However, as soon committed cashback payout date of 16/August/2019 approached closer; ebates.ca started showing up by extending payout date to 3 more months.
Of course, i won's use ebates.ca until I actually receive cashback amount (rather than being "happy" to see hythetical-dream-virtual amount shown in my ebates.ca account).
Thank you reading

I love using Ebates. I have received over $300 so far, including $16 that will be paid to me in August. However, sometimes when I buy from Canada Post, I do not automatically receive my cash-back. I have to enter a "help where is my cash-back" request to get it. I often order stamps and related items from Canada Post that have not yet been issued. They are sometimes available to order 2 or 3 weeks ahead of the date of issue. I never automatically receive cashback for this type of order. I have to enter a "help where is my cash-back" request to receive the cashback.

It appears, Ebate is in a great hurry to get a review because, I placed order through ebates, and within 2 days Ebates has asked for review - 2cents.
Ebates, until you really deposit cashback in Paypal account, how can one even review you - you are not a product seller!
This said, sadly, I am reading bad reviews about you on trustpilot and forum. It says, you do reflect cashback $$ in Ebates account, but you do NOT pay on the cashout date by one or other reason - keeps postponing or blocks account.
There is a smoke from more than 100 reviewers so, there must be fire!
I will do another review, if/when I will really receive $$ in Paypal account.

Ebates is a great concept and I always appreciate receiving cash back on my purchases. Every little bit helps!
I've called upon Ebates Member Services twice so far and both times I received quick and helpful replies. In the latest instance, Member Services representative Gina was friendly and clarified the issue for me with utmost respect and empathy.

I’ve had nothing but a positive experience with eBates since I joined over a year ago.
My only complaint would be that every so often you have to send their Member Service an email to insure your account is credited with the cash back for that particular shopping trip.
Other than that, I would recommend it to anyone who primarily shops on line!

I missed out on getting the ebate for going to a big box store and making a $1000.00 purchase - Ebates Canada (Michele V.) were wonderful and made a one time exception and gave me credit for the purchase!!! I love Ebates Canada! Thank you for everything and for being so kind!

It seems, Ebates.ca is closing down - are they applying for bankrupcy or what??
My experience completely matches with other writers here (who have given ONLY 1 star rating) for super long delay in payment for over 5-6 months, not keeping their own promises etc
My personal experience:
=> In mid May 2019, I made purchases of over minimum required amount of $25.00 (Just testing water - fact check - do they actually pay?).
=> My ebates account in May 2019 reflected that $6.80 of cashaback will be paid on August 16 2019.
=> Afterwards, I wanted to make more purchases through Ebates.ca but (luckily), I did not do because, may users and forums were negatively rating ebates.ca, delay in payment and poorest customer care etc
=> Sadly, eventually, all these honest users, their feedbacks and forums posts proved correct. Ebates.ca did the same with me.
=> Rather than paying promised scheduled cashback of $6.80 on August 16, 2019; ebates.ca changed the cashback date from Aug 16 2019 to Nov 16 2019 (6 months after qualifyin purchass!!).
Be cautious with Ebates.ca. The amount reflceting in your Ebates.ca account is deceptive, and payment date is NOT a actually date for PayPal/Checque/Amzaon GC. That amount reflecting in your ebates account and payment date is just to attract customer to make more purchases through Ebates.ca.
Thank God, I didn't make more purchased through Ebates.ca, and continued with other cashback provider.
Update on 20.08.2019:
I have now received response on Trustpilot and email from Ebates.ca
It was brought to our attention through your trust pilot review that you have not received a payment.
In reviewing your account, I can see that you PayPal mailing address does not match the name and mailing address we have on file. We no longer offer the option to have payments sent to a friend or a charity.
Please update your name and mailing address on your PayPal account to match your current profile information on your Ebates accounts.
Once you have made these changes please reply to this email and we will get your payment issued.
I am not sure, why a customer should be harrasesed, if ebates.ca changes their policy after customer made purchases. Frustrating and disappointing. I wish, I would have never used ebates.ca, and continued to use previous cashback website. As many revieweres have provided feedback here, ebates.ca takes one on a "ride", when it is a cashback payout time.
At least, ebates.ca should have honoured prior purchases and ebates.ca promise, which were made before they changed their policy.
Despite of above, hurdles and time consuming process and new conditions kept by Ebates.ca; all requirements advised by by Gina of Ebates have been fulfilled I am hoping for positive outcome now and cashback payment.

I have been using Ebates for several years now and am happy with the site The best part for me is that I don't have to police them like I did the previous one that I used. They always credit your account for purchases without you having to follow up. Makes it very easy to use. My only critique is that it does seem to take a while to accumulate a decent rebate. I do like though that I can have it a variety of ways including an Amazon gift card. Overall easy to use and trustworthy.

Further to my prior review of one star - poor rating:
Following is the email exchange in descending order with rakuten.ca customer care. I have continued to remains disappointed with rakuten.ca. Before, the email exchanage,
Some of the brief reasons for disappointment are:
(A) Intially, after making purchases in first and second week of july, Rakuten.ca account started showing cashback of approx $7.00 in rakuten.ca account - It stated that cashback amount will be paid on August 16 2019.
(B) Rakuten.ca continued to show the same cashback of approx $7.00 until August 16 2019 and September 02nd week (That's 02 months after purchases).
(C) Then, suddenly Rakuten.ca changed cashback date from August 16 2019 to November 16, 2019.
(D) Until this time, Rakuten.ca neither asked to keep record of any or every purchases made nor asked to provide any detail.
(E) Due to change and delay in cashback payment date from Aug 16 2019 to Nov 16 2019, I wrote an earlier review with poor rating on trustpilot in September 2019.
(F) Since then, Rakuten.ca blocked account and now, asking for order details that includes a billing name and address and price break-down showing product total, shipping charges, tax and method of payment.
(G) Despite that I am not a techy individual; I tried religiously but, somehow could not find a particular link, which rakuten is asking for.
(H) Earlier, in July 2019, Rakuten shouldn't have reflected the cashback amount in rakuten's account or should have asked to preserve all records.
(I) It's kind of a earlier "promise to pay" but, later on as the payment date approaches, keeping all possible hurdles - "how not to pay" with hurdles and new clauses/conditions to NOT to pay approximately $7.00 of cashback.
Thank God, I preferred to wait until I actually receive cashback from Rakuten amount rather than keep using rakuten.ca for another purchases.
Sincerely wish Rakuten.ca's customer care could have been little customer friendly and keeping their "promise to pay" rather finding reasons "how not to pay".
= = = = =
As I wrote earlier; I tried my best, and followed your advises but, couldn't access to it. I don't know what more can I do. I wish, rakuten.ca would have advised such this earlier (before showing around $7.00 of cashback in rakuten account). Disappointed but, nothing more to say.

Thank you for your response.
I religiously followed your suggested steps. It was cumbersome but, it was an interesting learning! However, somehow, there is no such link in the step.
Little suggestion: Rakuten's clients should have been made aware that these details or numbers etc will be required for any cashback. Shouln't you? Then, the onus is on your client to maintain record of required details until cashback has been paid out or not to use rakuten. I believe, such pre-information would appear client friendly.
Any ways, good luck to you guys.

Thank you for prompt response.
Further to your advise; approx for 45-50 minutes, I sincerely tried to find out the numbers ( #12********3 and 12*******7) you have referred to. Are there numbers coming in/from ******* or from you guys? If from *******, once I take print/use them, I delete email and orders to avoid confusion. However, I even tried to retrive them but, with no luck.
I am sorry but, I don't think, they will be accessible now and unsure, what more I can do. I wasn't aware, such numbers will be required at a later stage otherwise I would certainly preserved them for reference. Hope this help.
