Automatically charge you a massively inflated price for their poor antivirus software and then make you jump through hurdles to get a refund from their so called support.
Free alternatives like Kaspersky not only do the same job but are actually better than the outdated and very intrusive sofyware Norton charge the earth for.

Would rate zero stars if I could.
Signed up for Norton antivirus last night. Registered and bought the annual subscription. Money went from my account. No confirmation of payment, order number or install. I rang in and asked what had happened, I was told my bank didn’t authorise the payment. So I called the bank (who have always been reliable tbf) they said the money had been authorised and gave me the payment reference.
So I rang Norton again and spoke to an Indian guy called Angelo (yeah really) apparently he’s a manager. He ma’am’d Me a lot and very patronisingly told me it didn’t matter that they had taken the money as they couldn’t see the subscription.
Luckily my bank is super helpful and said they will deal with it if Norton refuse to honour the agreement.
Please beware. If something goes wrong during purchase the customer service is shocking and they only care about getting you off the phone. Go to Avira I never had any problems with them and only tried Norton on a whim.
Wish I hadn’t.

There is no customer support. The chat function doesn't work and the phone has never been answered; I have totted up several hours of listening to poorly recorded music occasionally interrupted by some perky voice offering generic "assistance". I have not received any assistance and am lumbered with a product that I can't get to work. This is the worst "support" I have ever encountered -even worse than Scottish Power

Norton antivirus valt zwaar tegen wat betreft service. Mailberichten worden niet beantwoord dus service, vergeet het maar. Al drie mailberichten verstuurd en na tien dagen nog een reactie.Ik ga naar de concurrentie. Norton antivirus is very disappointing in terms of service. Mail messages are not answered so service, forget it. Three e-mails already sent and another response after ten days. I go to the competition.

My years subscription to norton last year probably cost me £30 for security and VPN
This year I've only actually had one instance of adware make it onto my computer, and norton couldn't actually get rid of it, it was free software from malware bytes that removed it
Now I'm seeing reports that Windows Defender has reached the point where it's just as good as Norton, I was tempted to not renew after my subscription ends in 1 month.
Now I know I am DEFINITELY NOT going to be keeping my subscription as 1 entire month before my current plan ends, I've just been charged £104 for auto renewal.
Absolutely disgusting that you auto renew an entire month in advance with no email, or in program warning that renewal will occur soon, and then you charge that ridiculous price?
Congratulations Norton, you just lost a customer of 10 years because of your awful buisness practices.

Norton took my money for a year's subscription and will not refund it after hours of buying it for my laptop. The app would not download an their tech remotely logged on and said the problem is with my laptop and it cannot be downloaded unless I pay a one the fee of $90 for her to fix it remotely and then download the app. There is NO drop down box to pick subscription then pick refund as they say there is with a 14 day refund if not satisfied.

Had it on a laptop and it did nothing after my 30 day trial ended.
It slowed down my PC, constantly popped up advertisements to subscribe and pay for another year, every 10 mins I'd get a notification, disabled it from automatically launching on start up of pc, was still taking up space and slowing down the computer.
I eventually uninstalled it, as I firstly got a months trial of it from PC World when I set up my computer, it worked fine until the end of that 30 days.
If you don't pay they will not even give you basic features to protect your PC, I find that pathetic.
When I got rid of it, I got the free version of AVG and it worked well. I then paid for premium for full protection, anti virus, spyware, web security. Thanks to AVG I now have a secure laptop, which is not slowed down, and I only get the odd notification, such as when an update is needed, or it scanned itself, etc.
Customer service for Norton are just as bad anyway, send them an email and they won't even reply. You'd be able to go and reach a human that works for them quicker than expecting a response through your email inbox.

This app on my Mac is a total nightmare. it interferes with everything all the time. It should run in the background yet it keeps throwing pop ups every two secs annoying the hell out of me. Seriously forget this and get another VPN. Another problem is that it over heats my mac using so much memory I just ended up just deleting it completely off my system.!! A waste of £30 Awful!

This is a virus instead of an anti-virus I installed this software only to find out my system became really slow and deleted all my important files I angrily called the customer service but nobody gets to pick your call, don’t use this company it’s a scam..
I had to hire a software specialist called Edwinconsult they only asked me the model of my system and before 20mins they mailed me my antivirus setup giving me protection from virus, blocks ad and firewall, and my system became really fast.. they really easy to use and more reliable

I don't really have an issue with the software but they keep sending renewal e-mails after I have signed up for auto renewal. This wastes my time checking I am protected and if I was less savvy i might pay again. With modern systems I can only believe this is either deliberate in the hope people pay twice or very badly organised. Either way I will not be renewing at the end of the next year. I don't want to deal with a company that are so poorly organised or dishonest.

DON'T TOUCH NORTON
I operate 2 PC's, one MAC and an iPhone. Hopefully after you read this Post you will never choose Norton as your AV. Please avoid Norton like the Plague - you don't need the hassle in your life and it's almost completely ineffective as an AV as compared to the better AV's out there that out-rank it for good reason.
I've been lied to constantly by Norton Support, they have a 100% failure Rate on their Promises:
1) Last year at Subscription time when I was going to dump Norton because of how they were dropping down the rankings every year and I was sick of their expensive GUI and ineffective AV.
First LIE - We'll give you a 50% discount off your Annual Subscription if you renew with NORTON - LIE!
2) Second LIE - Actual Norton Tech advice "Its Normal for Norton to Cook CPUs at 96 degrees Celsius for 40 minutes every night while Norton performs background Scans - LIE! Why did it cook on PC and not the other? they both ran Norton and in Task Manager, the only APP running while my CPU was Cooking at 60-65% of my CPU was NORTON, but if I opened Norton, it was doing nothing! (Keep in mind both Machines have a Water-cooled CPU - imagine what Temperature the CPU affected by NORTON would have hit if not water-cooled!)
3) Third LIE - We'll extend your Subscription by 3 months because we've kept you up for 3 nights in a Row till midnight while we load and re-load Norton onto your Computer -LIE! No extension ever added.
4) Fourth LIE - Senior Tech advice in summary -We don't care that you're unhappy Norton is cooking your CPU, it's Normal for Norton to do so. Also, we never give refunds on Subscriptions - it's impossible - LIE!
5) In May 2019, after realizing my Subscription was charged at full value and no extension was ever provided, I contacted their Support again and they offered me an immediate refund of AUD130.69 and they would disable Norton immediately. I accepted, however because the Credit Card I used for my Subscription was cancelled and I changed my Payment details, they couldn't pay back into the new Card in my Norton Account, they had to get a "Senior Tech" to call me within 48-72 Hours. When I said that was unacceptable because I had to immediately go out and Purchase new AV Software.
Fifth LIE- they promised I would get a call the next Day 10am AEST -LIE!
6) Sixth LIE - Contacting them after 48 hours, they said (quote from Transcripts) "rest-assured I have made sure someone will call you tomorrow"- LIE
7) Seventh LIE- After 72 Hours, I was told tonight they would have to send me a Cheque and it would take 4-6 weeks to receive it. When I asked why no one had called me, they said they only made the decision today - LIE!
They referred back to when they tried to ring me three time in March after my technical issues (which I fixed myself with a System Restore) and I don't even know why they were trying to ring me, but when I'm chasing the money they owe me, and I'm no longer a Subscriber, there's no reason to ring me back at all!
Now apparently, I'm waiting 4-6 weeks to receive a cheque and someone Senior from Norton will ring me within the next 48 hours at my designated time of 9am AEST. After what I've just posted, what chance do you think I've got of either happening at all; or on time; or as they say it's going to happen with their 100% failure rate!
HERE"S THE IMPORTANT PART:
I've swapped over to Bitdefender. Within four hours, on all 3 machines Bitdefender found Malware and a Trojan in email Archives that I received while operating NORTON as my AV over the years - How effective is Bitdefender and how useless is Norton? Also - for quarter of the price!
Do yourself a favor, don't go near NORTON, they are a brand name, with a pretty GUI that uses up heaps of CPU power doing absolutely nothing in the background while cooking your CPU or providing you with completely useless screen pop-ups every hour or so.
Their Tech Support Staff are useless at fixing problems and untruthful if they can't and they don't see an issue with making promises they have no intention of keeping - it will be some other Support Staff Persons problem if you contact them again.
I've kept all the Transcripts of their failure to keep promises and I intend to give them to Consumer Affairs.
I never thought I'd see myself saying this, bu if I could Score them ZERO Stars I would and I hope I've helped at least some of you out there keep away from NORTON AV.

I waited on hold for 30 minutes and when they answered they said I would need to speak to another department, then disconnected me! This company is a joke. Don't bother with them as there are other companies out there who value their customers more than these guys do. I even told them that if my situation was not addressed in the next 30 minutes, I would post a review...here it is. What a waste of time!

My experience now mirrors many of the posts about this Company and Security product. I have been a long term supporter and advocate but my recent experience changes that completely now. I was using it extensively on home and work computers. With a recent upgrade and new computers with Windows 10 Pro operating systems, we have become infected with malware which rendered us "dead in the water". I tried all the processes and finally hired a tech company to clean our computers and install a new Security program which they and the posted reviews recommended. They indicated that their experience was that Norton was insufficient for anyone upgrading operating systems to Win 10 Pro and very risky.
It took hours to work through many individuals on a chat line with the same approach from every level including management: they would investigate the problem (which I had already fixed) and would not even consider a refund of remaining subscriptions - not even the one having 2.5 years remaining for 15 machines. "That is company policy" is the mantra.

I've been with Norton for a few years and I never select autorenewal but this year they've just taken £89.99 from my account without authorisation. On their website it's £39.99 for the same service. I tried chat which is a complete joke as the time for them to respond just kept increasing every few minutes instead of reducing, so I then tried phoning. Didn't have to wait any time to get through to someone, however you're supposedly phoning a London number but the guy was American and kept quoting prices in dollars. I just said I didn't want to renew and wanted my money back, he obviously had a script but I persisted by constantly interrupting him, eventually he got the message, but not without trying to get me to stay by offering me the price of £39.99. still I said no I want to cancel and I want my money back as I can get it elsewhere for free. Was told refund would be in 7 days, so just hope it is. They don't have email addresses, conveniently, so you have to phone. I always prefer email contact so there's something in writing. I'm just uninstalling Norton which is taking ages it means I lose a month but they're so useless I'd rather get rid of it now. Hope this review helps someone somehow, think twice about Norton

So we cancelled our subscription to Norton Antivirus last August since we moved to Chromebooks & Chromeboxes. We discovered that we were charged for the renewal when reconciling our credit card accounts for year end. When we called (haha) their so-called "Customer Support" and explained the situation, their (haha) Customer Service rep, said sorry you are beyond the 60 day grace period. I was told I still have most of a year's worth of coverage, but they don't protect Chromeboxes or Chromebooks, so it is worthless. No attempt at trying to extend the courtesy of believing me. Therefore, I must me a liar. All for $116!!! Enjoy it Norton, I now have another story to illustrate how Customer Service, true Customer Service, had all but disappeared in today's world.

I have always had good service and results from Norton. I had two subscriptions my children's laptops were on Norton 360, and mine Norton security standard.
My son changed to a Mac, which 360 doesn't support so I asked if it was possible to upgrade one license to cover the Mac. I now have one subscription for 5 licenses all with Norton Security Deluxe, and my subscription has been extended all for Free. I was expecting to pay to upgrade one license so very happy with Nortons as always

Norton Security is probably the worst anti virus when it comes to uninstall. It just never works and is very often installed as bloatware. Just get the uninstall working!
Control Panel / Uninstall program / Norton Security / Uninstall
Crashed today when we tried to uninstall and this has happend before. This should be a totally automated process without any possibility to go wrong. Get it working or get out of our computers.

Probably one of the worst customer service teams I've ever had the misfortune to deal with. After 2 weeks of lengthy calls they have still not managed to resolve the issue I am having with their product. They often don't do what they promise to do or return calls. You can rarely speak to the same person twice and no-one takes ownership of the of the problem. I'm only giving them one star because there is no option to give them any less.
