So I book a car rental in San Francisco, because you know, I'm flying into San Francisco. When I get my confirmation, it has me picking up my rental in San Jose, because you know, I'm flying into SFO. When I immeadiatly call Hotwire to get the pick up location changed, they take no responsibility for the error. None. They appreciate my problem (which they caused), but won't do anything about it. They won't cancel my rental, no refunds they say (although I never saw any indication of this policy when I made my reservation, which was at SFO, not San Jose). They gave me a credit. Then told me they would book me a rental at SFO using the credit but the rental rate had doubled. I declined the offer. Your mistake, not mine. Fix your mistake. Acknowledge your mistake. Look after your consumers. How long have you been running this scam? Please cancel the reservation I made for SFO, not SJC on my credit card.

SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! I went to hotwire clicked on rental cars looking for a car with unlimited mile. I found one for $27.00. When I got to the site, which was not Long Beach Airport, which is where I said I wanted to rent from. I was told since I lived locally and didn't book a flight I had to pay mileage. WHAT? I did not pick up the car and Hotwire refused to refund my money said it was part of the mystery deal. WHAT! Dince ehen should the mystery be what am I actually going to pay??? Local or not... it was unlimited my when I went to your site and did say anything about if you live locally you pay mileage, until I got my receipt itvthen said unlimited mileage- limitations for local??? Again not what it said when I clicked rental for $27.00 a day. Why does it matter where I live, so you can charge me more or less. Also, totally deceiving.

I have tried many times now to "get a deal" on hotwire, starting all the way back in 2012. I've tried hotel and car rentals, separately on a semi-annual basis to check if there was ever even a chance to "get a deal" since my first awful experience.... I paid FULL price $170 for 2 beds with literally inches, from the end of the bed to the wall. Called the hotel from my friends cell number (so there was no chance it would come up as a registered guest) and got quoted the EXACT SAME PRICE even though hotwire said I was saving 40%. Now for checking on them, semi annually after... They never, ever, ever have a better price or ANY savings than just going to the rental agency's website or app and I have tried over and over. Usually they are MORE EXPENSIVE. I have screenshots I've saved as proof. BRUTAL LYING SCUMBAG COMPANY

'Blind' special hotel deal resulted in a hotel that was uninhabitable due to MAJOR renovations. Dust, closed pool, closed restaurant.
The amenities clearly described in the bookings were not present.
Customer service was unable to remedy, and was an absolute brick wall. Do not deal with this company

If I could give 0 stars I would. I understand that for some of their deals, it's final. But they should not make a customer jump through hoops in order to cancel a month in advance. Stay away from this company!!! You will lose your money.

When booking a last minute hotel through Hotwire I was charged then for some reason had my room rental refunded. The catch was that they hold your funds and do not immediately reimburse your credit card. This happened three times with three separate bookings before my card was maxed out. The representative on the phone apologized for what she admitted to being the companies wrongdoing and blamed it on their system being in a reset. There was no attempt to reconcile the problem. I was asked to use another card which I declined as Hotwire has a temporary hold on near $525 of my money. I then went with Expedia for my nights reservation.

I booked a car on Hotwire for Dollar rent a car thinking I was getting a good deal for $21.00 a day in CA. Turns out when I returned there was an additional $110.00 in taxes and fees added to it. Next time I will book directly through a car agency and not Hotwire or Dollar. So disappointed when thinking I was getting a deal. Apparently the joke was on me. I will not be using them again.

Feel like getting SNOOKERED???? Then you've come to the right place because that is the approach that both HOTWIRE & EXPEDIA (same companies) take with anyone naive enough to be taken in with what SEEMS to be a discounted price. I would think it would concern anyone dealing with a company that has "SALES FINAL" as part of their name! They are NOT here to provide service OR correct errors but once you are sucked in to the website booking, it's all over. You have just blindly booked a car, hotel, etc and for saving a few pennies have NO RECOURSE or relationship with the actual company who is providing you a service. Believe me, it is NOT WORTH the small savings, if any! If you are smart and shop intelligently, you can find much better "deals" directly with the type of service you need. FYI- should you have reason to speak with them, it will take HOURS of your time holding & holding before anyone will answer.I have personally had this experience and hope I am saving the next person from the DRUDGERY that they will put you through!!!!

I am a long-time Hotwire customer and disappointed with a recent purchase. The Hotrate deals are supposed to be 60% off and I found the same rate directly thru the Hotel Benjamin in NYC. Further - the rating of 4.5 stars for the Benjamin is not accurate. Thus no deal. Hotwire used to be special. It is no longer fulfilling its promise. If this is how they will treat a long-time customer, then I suggest anyone looking for a good value shop somewhere else.

Avoid this company. You will be unable to cancel almost any car reservation you make. I booked a car reservation 4 months ahead of time and needed to cancel the reservation 2 days after making the reservation. Hotwire refuses to cancel the reservation despite the fact that absolutely no service had been given to that point. Beware! 99% of other sites will allow you to cancel a hotel or car reservation up to 48 hrs prior to your stay.

I booked a flight for my family and I to go to London. We have flown with Delta through Hotwire before and appreciated how cheap the tickets were. Although this time we had an absolute horrible experience. First, they changed our flights many times. Then, our second flight was delayed 5 hours due to something wrong with the plane. This took about half of the time we were supposed to spend that day in London, leading to us wasting a full day. They then changed our flights on the way BACK. And without notification. So we got to the wrong terminal (the one that we were originally supposed to fly from and go to Paris) to be told that our flight was changed and we had to take a train to another terminal. The time and location was changed, therefore also disturbing our plans for our returning day. This website gave us very much stress and problems and I would not recommend it unless you are willing to deal with ongoing problems.

Took my payment twice and refused to acknowledge it.
Refused to provide me with a tax receipt for my expenses.
Booked me into a twin room when I order a double.
Terrible customer service.
I honestly do not understand how a company like this is allowed to legally operate.

Worst customer service ever will be posting in every media outlet about my experience!!! Rented a car to drive to my uncles wake, the location changed so I no longer needed the car rental(out of my control) and when I attempted to cancel they said no problem just send us a copy of the service etc. Sent in a couple of days after service and they say he isn’t blood so have a nice day. A few other baloney excuses and explanations were exchanged and in the end Hotwire does not help anyone but themselves!! It wasn’t for a hotel or airfair we’re talking a $90 car rental. Pay the little extra and go with anyone else shoot I’d even say Expedia is better or Travelocity but do not use Hotwire, their hot deals are a hot mess.

was left with no viable options, in regards to a booking that was made through Hotwire. There were two transactions: the first reservation I made was for a hotel that was falsely advertised as an "all-inclusive" and when I found out AFTER the transaction was processed, Hotwire would not budge from their "non-refundable" policy. I called and discussed with some agent that this was a shady tactic to mislead the consumer. As a "one-time" courtesy, the agent agreed to refund my money for the first booking BUT ONLY IF I MADE ANOTHER RESERVATION at a "MYSTERY" hotel. I WANTED A FULL REFUND WITH NO STRINGS ATTACHED but I was told that they could not comply with my request. No information on the second hotel could be shared with me (only the price), according to their policy. My options were basically to take this new reservation or lose my money completely, due to Hotwire's "no refund" policy. Under those circumstances, I had to take it and felt like Hotwire was placing me under pressure.
I NEVER STAYED AT THIS SECOND "MYSTERY" PROPERTY and made it clear I was not going, since I would be disputing it with my bank. Hotwire was very shady from the start and are refusing to resolve the issue fairly.

I went online to book a hotel. Everyone was booked, so I went on Hotwire. Hotwire had a special for $88.00. It wouldn't tell you what hotel it was but, it had the location on the map. 23450 Sussex Highway, I went on goggle to make sure the address was Days Inn before I booked the reservation that showed on the map. After booking the reservation, it tells me Congratulations, you will be staying at the Motel 6 in Seaford. What!!!!!! Very Disappointed, I do not like the deception behind the blindness of this falsely advertisement. Very unprofessional business to deceive customers to make money. You are booking one place and getting another down the road on the other side of the highway. My attachment shows the location on the map. Days Inn, 23450 Sussex Highway Seaford, Delaware. I will never recommend anyone to do business with Hot wire

The biggest bait and switch ever. Never again. Don't do it. You ask for the best rate for a vehicle at the Orlando airport, get the best rate, secure the deal, and only at the last minute do you learn it's not at the airport. It's close, yes, but not at the airport, so you have to wait for a shuttle. That's one thing. The other thing is the car rental daily rate that attracted you might as well have an asterisk for how close it will be to the final rate you'll pay. They should have a built-in multiplier, as in, expect to pay 1x or 2x or 3x what this posted rate is. The car rental company (Nu) charged so many little incidental charges it becomes the same as had you rented from a proper rental company at the actual airport. It's as perfect a scam as you'll find. It ended up costing me 2 and a half times the rate i prepaid and more than 2 hours of shuttling time. Seriously, don't do Hotwire for car rentals. They should at least send a certificate to you with your name and picture as recipient of the Most Gullible of the Week.

I booked through Hotwire the other day not really caring where I stayed but simply because it would save me some money. While some of the "Hot Deals" warned of extra charges with regards to Resort Fees, there was no warning at all that the hotel I was assigned was a Valet Parking only hotel and that I would have to pay an additional $33 to park Valet, not to mention the tip for the valet guys. When I called Hotwire they said it was my fault because I didn't select "Free Parking". I told them that I didn't want to limit my selection in a city where there are a lot of hotels that charge for parking. My argument was that when the hotel is "Valet ONLY", that should be disclosed just like they disclose resort fees. Now, I am paying more to stay at this hotel than if I had just booked the one right next door that does have free parking and is just as nice.
POOR CUSTOMER Service!!!!! POOR Policies!!!!! POOR admitting when you are wrong!!!! PLEASE!!!!!JUST PAY THE EXTRA $ AND USE SOMEONE ELSE....
NOT EXPEDIA or HOTELS.com as they are all affiliated with each other.
I WILL NEVER GO BACK!!!!

My experience with hotel wire. Firstly I was traveling out of town so decided to make a car rental reservation for a minivan with unlimited milage as I needed the space and knew I would make lots of milage.
I got to the rental car location and upon printing my reservation I noticed it said limited milage 0.18 cents per additional km after 1400 km. I pointed it out to the clerk that this was wrong and i paid for unlimited milage. He showed me the reservation hotwire submitted and it did not match the confirmation email from hotwire. This reservation was for limited milage and the confirmation email clearly said unlimited.
So i called hotwire and this is a mess i experienced :
I was advised that they had an agreement with budget that all of the reservations came with unlimited mileage this is why the website indicated unlimited mileage. They advised that the would be call budget and clear up this miscommunication. when the teller came back she indicated that their agreement with budget did not include minivans that is why this reservation was limited mileage. My options were to pay for any additional mileage or have her look for another rental under "their fleet" that was unlimited milage. I indicated the car needs to be a minivan. She returned to the phone and indicated unfortunately none of the minivans include unlimited mileage the is an exception and applies only to minivans. Yet note their website indicate several unlimited milage minivans..... the best she could do was change my reservation to another company with a smaller milage fee of 16 cents per km. I confirmed with her that my confirmation email and their website did indicate unlimited mileage for this minivan and they agreed so I asked why would they not under this contract honor their error and cover my mileage if that was the case. That this error was in no way my fault but a hotwire issue and I should be compensated. Their agreement with didn't coinside with their confirmation email. The teller indicated that because I had not paid for the reservation yet they would not be able to pay for my additional mileage they could offer me what they offered me ... $0.02 less per extra kilometer so I would either have to accept this fee or choose to cancel the reservation and search for alternative on my own with another company. What an easy denial of their mistake... we can't give you what we said we would so go elsewhere to try to find what you need..... I questioned why would they not honor their unlimited statement and what was indicated on their website and their confirmation email as this was false advertisement and she indicated that there was nothing she could do as her policies indicate the cannot reimburse for milage and the fact that the reservation was not paid in advance there was still the option of changing plan. In other word because I didnt pay hotwire they have no obligation to honor any of their services.....why would you ever use this service then..... I asked for a supervisor or manager in order to find a solution to this confusion and I was advised that it did not matter if she got a supervisor as the policy remain she had already communicated with a supervisor and this is what she would told to give me she could offer a reservation through another company but it would still not be unlimited mileage . I asked to see if the company would look at their website and make the appropriate changes so that they're not falsely advertising the fact that they're minivans are unlimited mileage they indicated that this would be looked into but they could not speak to what would happen or what has transpired from previous complaints because the case would be on going at the moment they could not provide any compensation.... I cannot be the first person to rent a minivan with unlimited mileage so why is their website still advertising unlimited mileage and they are getting away with fraud. They have no intention to fixing the problem and they're not offering any compensation just redirecting me.... I found this whole process very frustrating and unnecessary.
through all this the client service at budget was phenomenal the man at the front desk was patient understanding and very accommodating he helped us in the end.
As for Hotwire the person at the hotline was difficult to understand (accent was difficult to understand and had her repeat several time ) but she was professional and it's likely not her fault as this is her companies policies but the company itself is flawed by falsely advertising and not offering support when an issue come up this is unfair.
I would like everyone to know that the company Hotwire is bad and filled with false promises It would be better to go directly to the rental company instead of going through this third party shady business. I'm never going to go through that again. Hotwire you have lost my business for good and I hope I can convince as many people as possible to never go through your website as well

If I could give a zero, I would.
Pathetic experience with absolutely illogical and unreasonable staff.
We booked a hotel in Bournemouth UK through Hotwire and the hotel was overbooked so they didn’t have a room for us. HOTWIRE didn’t care to notify us about the fully booked hotel. I spoke to Derby, one of the supervisors who kept repeating the same thing, offering a refund but the place was full and all the rooms available were expensive in multiples of hundreds of pounds. Absolutely rubbish customer service and zero logic. Derby kept repeating the same thing again and again like a robot. We were left with no room or paying 1000 pounds a room for one night. We couldn’t afford that so we actually cancelled the holiday and went back home.
STAY AWAY FROM HOTWIRE. It’s a fraud company!
