Great 3 day weekend break in Vienna. Mid day and afternoon flights - decent hotel - reasonably priced

I’d like to start by saying that I love the aer Lingus holidays. We’ve had so many excellent experiences and visited lovely hotels and we always recommend them to friends. This one however was a big disappointment for us. The flight and transfer were wonderful but the hotel was a real let down. It was a shame too because my partner and I got engaged on the first night so it would have been meaningful to have a great stay in the hotel. I wouldn’t usually leave a negative review, I would usually contact the hotel directly with my issues if we ever have any, however we did that in person and were disappointed by the result.
First of all I expected quite a lot from a 4 star hotel, or at least a semi-functional gym. My partner is a fitness instructor and we always pick a hotel with a gym because we enjoy going. The gym was an absolute joke. Unfortunately a small basement room with 3 rusty old-fashioned work out machines that didn’t work and a couple of kettle bells don’t quite cut it. Even a few free weights would have saved it, we could have done something with that, but it was just two dirty mats and a hula hoop and machines you couldn’t use. The advertised spa wasn’t open, it looked pretty subpar too, so that plan went out the window. I’m sure the jacuzzi would have been fine, if there was any water in it. The whole place was unusable.
Our room was nice enough, except the bathroom smelled a bit like sewage and we couldn’t sleep well because it was located over the dining room so we were woken very early to noises of scraping chairs etc. I couldn’t be dealing with a week of really bad sleep so we requested a change of room. We were put in a smaller room that had tiny windows and I couldn’t get the air conditioning working so I asked after about 10 mins if there was a possibility of moving again before we unpacked. Reception were very hostile about this and basically told us we were already being awkward and it “wasn’t their problem” that people were making noise. My new fiancé is a very reasonable person but ended up telling them that it was their job to try and help us enjoy our stay and for that to have to happen was so disappointing. We felt extremely unwelcome. The staff member told us the hotel was full and he could do nothing about it that night. Maybe it was but I certainly saw zero evidence of a full hotel. I’m sure there are gorgeous rooms with a beautiful sea view and we would have been happy to pay extra to upgrade but we were basically treated like a huge problem and I’ve never experienced that before. It really put a damper on a holiday that should have been particularly special.
We asked if we could try and move the following night (they said we could come back to them) but actually we ended up just staying in our room without moving because I couldn’t face another situation like that confrontation without getting upset actually, and it was fine. In fairness it had a great shower and we ended up enjoying it. I did think better care could have been taken in terms of room service, like I accidentally spilled some tinted moisturizer on the sheets which I thought would have Beth changed, and they were just made up rather than changed that night. I don’t mind having the same sheets in a hotel for 7 nights but it’s a holiday and I’d have liked a bit of luxury and care to be honest.
Breakfast was fine. The lobby was nice. Overall it was OK. It was little things that we felt let the place down like my partner and I were just hanging out reading in the lobby one morning after breakfast and we heard people having almighty row somewhere that went on for ages. Eventually we got up to check who was having an Italian screaming match and it turned out it was some kind of staff meeting. Maybe that’s just how things are done but it didn’t exactly leave us with a good impression.
I’d love to give a good review, it had all the potential to be a great stay, but I hate to say it missed the mark for us. If the staff had been very kind I would have left a very different review. The surrounding area is wonderful - Taormina is really stunning and a short bus ride away - but we won’t be going back to celebrate our wedding anniversary!

Will definitely book with Aer Lingus Holidays again. The flight, times etc were excellent. The hotel choice, Hotel Suite Home, was really very good. We'd stay there again. All in all, a very positive experience

all went well with our 4 night break to Budapest, all travel arrangements seamless and the hotel quite satisfactory. Situation a bit out of centre but metro on the doorstep so that was no problem. would definitely book with aerlingus/clickandgo again

Booking with Aer Lingus was simple. No problems at all. Staff at Airport and Airline very professional. Hotel right in centre of Madrid ... easy access to everything. Small 3 star hotel with friendly staff and everything we needed. Clean rooms and although no luxuries it was close to restaurants and near the cathedral and palace. Perfect for a city break.

The flights were good and the Aer Lingus staff very professional and polite. The hotel ( nhow, Berlin )in my opinion was not 4 star. It was a very good 3 star hotel. Slow to check in and told to come back at 3pm because room wasn't ready. No offer of a free drink at the bar ? No milk in the room for tea and coffee ( don't do free milk ) and the cups were paper disposable ones . Surely a 4 Star hotel should have proper tea cups or mugs. Room was clean and tidy, so couldn't fault that and Hotel was busy and the best member of staff was the Concierge. He was excellent, giving great advice on how to get around Berlin. Overall the holiday was great value too. Very happy.

This is our 2nd time using 'Holidays with Aer Lingus' and I wouldn't consider any other company now. From the lovely Aer Lingus' staff, the bus transfer to accommodation and the overall good value of the package, I would really recommend.

Great week at the Brisa Sol
Just back from a lovely week in Albufiera. This is the third holiday I've booked with are lingus/ click&go. Again we weren't disappointed. A beautiful hotel indeed. We were B&B and the food was excellent. The staff in the restaurant were fantastic. We had dinner one night and was not disappointed. The one quibble I had was that it didn't seem clear when we booked the the twin rooms don't have balconies. Other than that we can't fault the trip. Are lingus again were brilliant on both flights.10/10 over all lol

The hotel room was very shabby and had two small single beds we had to upgrade to a double bed room at 25 pounds per night .
On return to Dublin we had to dismount the plane by the front stairs and walk through the rain into the terminal building and back out to a bus which then took us to the terminal .

Flying with Aer Lingus is always a pleasure. The hotel was beautiful and the location was exceptionally convenient. The buffet breakfast was vast and the 24hr availability of coffee and hot chocolate was a nice touch. Highly recommended

Great experience. I did have issues checking in on the way back. Not good. Wasted an hour looking at a girl on the phone just because me and my son have the same name.

Quick & easy to book and very competitive on price. Staff were very helpful when I called with a query before flying.
The hotel selected was in a great location and everything on the trip ran smoothly.

Booked with aerlingus because didn,t want to be be treated like Ryanair CATTLE. Unfortunately, being Bused out to our plane, for whatever reason, is just not acceptable from Aerlingus. The once national carrier is now a two tier operator. One for the short hop holiday maker, just like Ryanair, AND second the transatlantic travellers, mainly to get the well healed.
Why have I to pay extra for a good seat at the front of an aeroplane.!!!! This is Ryanair territory. Bottom line is I will be mindful next time who I go with fly with.

Hotel was very basic, we were booked half board, only had dinner the first night and never again after that not a great selection, given a time that we had to have dinner at which wouldn't suit us at all. Breakfast was also very basic. Staff indifferent to guests, no tea or coffee facilities in the room. Room was quite small. Flights were good , on time and staff were lovely have never had a bad experience flying with Aer Lingus. Will continue to book flights but wouldn't book holiday with Aer Lingus/Click & Go again.
