Money taken from my account after the rental agreement with no correspondence from them as to why. Have been emailing them for over a month now to try and get an invoice etc. so I can at least claim any money back via my excess insurance but have had no luck at all. Probably the worst company I have ever dealt with and would give them 0 stars if possible.

YOU ARE THE MOST SCARING COMPANY I HAVE SEEN IN MY LIFE. My wife with my 1 year old son rented a car for 4 days in Germany to do Ioga. When they returned a car, the EUROPCAR EMPLOYEE made a mistake with the mileage and pointed out that my wife did 2,366KM in 4 days ???? !!!!! (REALLY YOU CONSIDER IS POSSIBLE THAT, WE HAVE SHOWN THE GPS TRACKING) Then they have stolen € 278 and now claim € 119 +. YOU ARE THE WORST. We have DENOUNCED this case to the German consumer organization.

A very bad experience with EUROPCAR today after our arrival in Düsseldorf / Germany.
We had a car booked since more than a week ago for a long term rental (37 days). To my big surprise the man behind the counter told me that there was no car available. We had to wait an hour until somebody turned-up to take us to the EC station downtown where a car was waiting for us. The ride took place in VW Polo which is rather small especially when three are travelling with heavy luggages.
Long story short, very disappointed with the service, will never use EUROPCAR again! Staff not even considering any gesture.

Terrible experience with europcar and will never use them again.
Thought the booking was secured as had a confirmation reservation email. I even called on the day leaving to get to Stockholm as wanted to make sure car was available at 11.40pm at night but no one picked up the phone. When we arrived at the airport a car was not there and had to stay in the hotel for a night due to the lateness. The excuse was the booking was not confirmed but how come I received a text saying it was time to return the car!!. This is currently in proceedings of going further as europcar are refusing to even refund the additional costs occurred with the hotel

THEY ARE TERRIBLE
Avoid this company, they misleading you posting pictures of cars that they don’t have. They changed me for a SUV and I and up with a fiat station-wagon on top of that after I got the car and pulled out of the parking lot the engine light and the tires pressure monitor was on. I try to call them several times but There was no answer finally I got to destination and I send them an email, and guess what no answer, at that point the day after I went back to Bari which is about 100 kilometers away pulled in there parking lot and explained to them what’s going on and why they didn’t answer my phone calls and my email there answer was that the phone line was down and the email they didn’t got to it because they are to many to answer. Very bad custom service very bad attitude from the people at the front desk. On top that I and up with another station wagon. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY THEY ARE NOT GOOD, THEY JUST OVER CHARGE YOU FOR PRODUCT THAT THEY DON’T HAVE.

Fiat 500 from Venice. low mileage car in poor condition with serious body damage, but had to sign all docs before they een brought the car over. Fuel tank under 1/2 full though it is meant to be full. returned it with 3/4 but was charged for fuel, refilling it and another unspecified surcharge. Have complained directly but will never go anywhere near Keddy/Europcar again and will tell others to avoid them.

Why isnt anything being done about them?? I myself have fallen victim to the damage scam on returning a car to paphos airport. 6 weeks later it has not been resolved, we are going round in circles. My hire cannot be located etc etc. I have a cas open with resolver and now they have told me they cannot speak to me due to data protection!! When I call they hang up on me, I'm getting nowhere. I have rang trading standards and heared nothing back. This was part of a tui package and Tui are also taking no responsibility.over £1000 has been unlawfully taken out of my account in dribs and drabs. The excess amount was taken before the car was returned so it's obvious its premeditated. I just dont know how they are slipping through the heat with this fraudulent activity. I'm at my wits end.

Horrible rental agency. It took 1 hour from the time I arrived at the garage to pick up the car till the time I finally was given the vehicle. I was not alone. Another family was there longer than me. The vehicle was dirty and the tank was not full. Not worth the price.

Had 2 hires with Europcar over a month. Both cars were damaged beyond what was reported, which was reported prior to departure. In Frankfurt, I was told that the scratches were normal wear and tear. I insisted they be reported and noted. I’ve played this game before. When returning, we were told that we’d caused the scratches and would be charged. I had the forms and was able to show they were signed off as already present.
The second hire was a mess from Brussels returning to Frankfurt. We were upgraded, however the car had not been checked in from the prior user and had significant damage. Reported all at the time to the service desk with photos, as they ask you email them with all the photos within 2 hours of departure and photos must be from the pick up location ( no wifi, it was up to me to have 4Gb of data to email photos). I said I wasn’t happy due to the damage and how dirty the car was hiding more damage. It was in French, so I couldn’t understand and had to take the employees word that all the damage and photos shown had been logged. Come time to return, and you’ve guessed it, none of the damage is on the system and I was told I had caused it. No one on the service desk could help, disputes a signed and new form from Brussels with the damage. The only ones who can help are all “head office” who in 5 call attempts over have not answered once...REMINDER I have photos of the damage from before taking the car.
NEVER USE EUROPCAR, they can single handedly ruin a vacation.

I rented a car at Europcar for almost 2 weeks in Germany. The booked class was not available in the beginning so I got an upgrade. After a few days I had to change back, which is totally OK for me.
In the last years I have tried many other rental companies and I can tell you that Europcar and Sixt are definately the best, with less to no scams.
Just try to avoid booking at airport stations, they always try to rip you off.

Booked Europcar through Car Flexi online.
Europcar was closed at the agreed time of collection 0005 HRS despite us paying the out of hours surcharge. This meant we needed to get a taxi to our hotel & back the next morning, a huge waste of time & money. Europcar offered no apology & their only explanation was that they didn’t know our flight number (this was not a mandatory requirement). Nothing was offered towards cost of taxis.
Next problem arose when they said the main driver had to be the person who booked the car. This was never mentioned when booking. Extra driver was 70 euros. This seemed unnecessary as only a small deposit had been paid & the intended driver was happy to pay the rest on her card.
Once we got the car it was fine but had not been cleaned on the outside. There was quite a lot of damage also.
Overall a poor experience, worse than any other provider I have used. Europcar weren't at all helpful & Car Flexi never responded to my email of complaint.
I would not use car flexi or europcar again.

Charged for pre-existing damage
I was charged for a pre-existing tire damage that was not proper document even after I pointed it out at the pick up place. I was told that the rim damage is documented and this includes the tire damage.
There is customer service is poor and they rely on subcontractors.

My friend hired a car from holiday autos which booked him a car with europcar when he landed at Birmingham airport he had paid holiday autos for the golf and for the fully comprehensive insurance but when he went to collect the car from europcar he was told that holiday autos insurance through Allianz was no good and that he could not have the car without paying an extra £388 he told them he already had insurance but no good. We have phoned , e mailed tried to contact them but they will not talk to you . We would like to warn of the scam that they use all the time it’s totally illegal but they don’t seem to care they are too big so please don’t use europcar they are hopeless and really do rip you off

I've been dealing with this company for four years. Now That I'm in Germany and I have a car from this company, it's going to be the last time I've been booking a car from them. The staff at heidelberg branch treated more than badly. I will deal with another company and I will never make the mistake of dealing with Europcar again. If anyone from the company is interested in the company's reputation, they can contact me to tell him about employee abuse, fraud, open theft and customer fraud.

THE WORST! its fine to rent the car, but if you have any after rental issues it is THE most frustrating company to deal with, the call center has NO idea whats going on, they are also hopeless at sorting out any after rental issues. Stay away, there are much better companies out there.

Terrible service. I’ve been waiting 2 hours in a queue at their Catania airport location and it looks like at least 30 more minutes to go. No communication whatsoever, apparently it just is the way they work. Will never use them again and recommend nobody uses them either. Saving a little bit is not worth the bad time during your holiday

Horrible service ! We waited for about 2 hours to get the car. It was a disaster.
I hired a car of europcar through Auto Europe in Finland. To my astonishment the car was not given to me. According to the employee I was on a blacklist. No reason was given there, nor on phone, nor in an E-Mail. One employee sugested an open bill to be the reason. But nothing was sent.
In Finland I had to hire another more costly car.

We wanted to rent a car in Lisbon and we were unsure, which car-rent we should go to. So we called Europcar and asked, if it was possible for us. Sadly we got wrong information and as we went there, it was impossible for us to rent a car.
We nearly didn‘ t get to our appointment, which we had already paid.
It was really expensive for us to get there by taxi and the way home was a disaster.
At least the staff stayed polite.

I rented a car from Brive la Gaillarde in Sept 13 and returned on September 19, 2019. First time pickup I found the lady to be unfriendly but not as rude as the man who appeared to be boss whom I encountered more on delivery back.Firstly car was not washed when we collected it. No apology. ( we were 30 minutes early so perhaps that was their excuse??). On return of vehicle no spaces to park the car. The man “boss” just shouted at us to move away from car wash area. No offer of assistance to help us park. We lost lots of time and almost missed our train. Totally UNHELPFUL!! Avoid!!

My husband and I rented a 'midsize monospace' with Europcar through Expedia (Paris, France) for 5 weeks. We have two little ones so we needed something somewhat large. When we landed and went to pick up our car, the woman at Europcar urged us to upgrade to something bigger. We did, and were happy that we did so. We had a Peugot 5008, which was a good size. We drove to Bretagne after that, stayed there for a week.
Then we left and started driving to Briançon, a 14-hour drive. That’s when things took a turn for the worse. The dashboard in the car started displaying “Top up ADBLUE, start impossible in 5000 KM”. We had NO IDEA what that meant. So when we stopped for lunch, we used WIFI to google this problem. We found out that ADBLUE is a product that needs to be added to diesel cars in order to reduce emissions. We bought this AdBlue and immediately added it to our car. The message on the dashboard was still being displayed. We bought another bottle of AdBlue and added even more. The message on the dashboard kept being displayed, and the number of the KM continued to go down. I immediately called Europcar to ask them about this issue. They told me not to worry about it because it’ll go away. As we got closer to our destination (11 PM), the message displayed START IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!
Thankfully we got to the mountain house at 12. The next day, the car was DEAD!
We called Europcar, and they sent over a mechanic. He told us the car was done and he had to tow it. GREAT!
I called Europcar back and asked for a replacement car. The lady on the phone told me, “Sorry we have nothing to give you, there are no cars your size available.”
REALLY? NOTHING? We needed formula for my baby so I was very UPSET. After spending virtually the entire day on and off the phone with Europcar’s customer service, we get a phone call telling us that they have a car for us in Gap, which is 3 hours away.
They called us a cab, and my husband went in the taxi to pick up this car. While en route, it came to our attention that the car that they wanted to give us would not fit our family of four. Halfway into this route, the taxi had to turn around and bring my husband home.
We called the next day non-stop and FINALLY we were told that NOW the location in Gap had an appropriately sized car. We were told at this time, that Europcar only covers up to 150 Euro of taxi rides, and that that allowance was met on the previous day. We had to cough up the 190 Euro taxi ride for the second time my husband took the trip.
This car ended up being noticeably smaller than our original car, which was another issue in itself.
When I called to complain about ALL of these issues, they told us we can only dispute charges at the end of our trip.
So now here we are, we are back home and they are REFUSING to refund us the TWO days without a car, the second taxi ride (which was necessary due to their own incompetence), or the absurd cell phone bill we had due to all the international calls we had to make. The only thing they are agreeing to reimburse us for is the two bottles of AdBlue we purchased which totals about 30 Euro’s.
Car issues are unpredictable, but the way Europcar handled this issue is inexcusable. Overall, DO NOT USE EUROPCAR!!!

Have used Europcar many times in the past. However, on a recent trip to Bordeaux we were charged £170 for a scuff on the wing mirror and we didn't even know if it was already there when we hired the car.
They make you sign a document that is all in french to say that the car is free from damage when you are 200 metres away from the car and have not even seen it. They dont do a walk around of the vehicle to check for damage, they just give you the keys and send you on your way.
When we returned the car we were told it was all ok but were then sent a bill.
The vehicle had no screen wash in it when we picked it up and was dirty inside.
Will not be using them again.
