I travelled with etihad airways back in May. Ten minutes before we were due to board the plane we were told the flight had been delayed by 3 hours. We went to talk to a member of staff who was very rude and didn’t care at all. We were told “it’s only 3 hours , what’s your problem” , i then asked to speak to his manger to which he relied “ I can call him but he won’t come”. Once we finally board the plane after about 4 hours we were served a piece of chicken breast only, no starter or desert. When I asked if this was all the food we were getting they said “ this is the only meal we are providing but if you would like to buy something then you can, I thought etihad was a full service airline? Once we landed back in Manchester we then waited 1:20 before the baggage carrousel started to move, and then a further 30 minutes for any bags to start coming off. We then got our bags only to find the side of the bag and the wheel had been damaged too. I then contacted etihad though resolver which they ignored for as long as possible , but in the end they agreed to pay me the sum of £85 for the damage. This all took place on the 4th May , it’s now the 12th October and I’m still waiting for them to pay me for the damage they caused. I have travelled with etihad a few times but this time it certainly felt like something had changed, it’s more like a budget airline. We were never offered drinks during the whole flight, the small amount of food we did get was pitiful , the staff were extremely rude and unhelpful. This will certainly be the last time I ever fly with etihad, so if you are reading this review don’t make the same mistake I did, DON’T fly with etihad.

I contacted Etihad airways after a flight from Abu Dhabi to London, where after arriving home I noticed that some baby milk powder I'd brought home had been crushed and exploded everywhere.
To say the customer service team were less than helpful is an understatement. I had various excuses, no apologies and basically told my case was closed.
Apparently it was my 'fault' for over-packing my suitcase which incidentally was less full than the way out and this didn't happen on that flight. I was then told I shouldn't have had the milk powder in my suitcase as it is classed as a perishable item. I could not have done this as the milk powder is too big for hand luggage. Total nonsense really and just making silly excuses instead of offering a valid explanation and offering an apology.
I also complained about the lack of food on the way home. The meal was very basic and we were only fed once in 7.5 hours! Again, I was fobbed off and told that there is a trolley service (sweet & salty) but on such a large flight, when the trolley got to us there was very little left to purchase. I would expect an airline as well-known as Etihad to offer a better quality service than this. We were left completely disappointed and dissatisfied after paying a lot of money for our family holiday. We will never fly Etihad again. Emirates is far, far superior!

By mistake selected Etihad airline. It was a confirmed ticket from Abu Dhabi to Trivandrum. They are saying that the flight is over booked. Around 15 people are waiting in the airport. And the counter staff is so rude and irresponsible. They are giving different reasons to different people.
I will never use this airline again. Never use this in future

Warning warning warning. Do not use this airline.
Manchester to Abu Dhabi. Flight EY22.
My wife was at the checkin, she and all other passengers were charge £236.00 because this airline illegally reduced the standard size of the carry-on suitcase for the overhead locker to the size of a shoe box. E.Airways Intentionally out to screw YOU the customer. DO NOT USE THEM.

Recently i have travel in Etihad.( Chicago to Madinah,Saudi Arabia / Jeddah to Chicago)
This is my worse experience ever.
PLANE are 777-300 ER but when you walked in its look like been sitting in garage for long time. entertainment system also old and had old programs & movies. i looked Business class its looks very old. its not worth for money you pay. (Sorry for those guy who pay for higher price for nothing).
SEATS are very uncomfortable. mostly all couples are separated few rows a apart both ways of my trip. when we checked in on counter they know we are couple. they should give seats together. me and my wife separated so the other couples. Counter people should more careful.
FOOD IS VERY WORSE.( LIKE THEY FEEDING PRISONERS) MAIN COURSE IS VERY SMALL QUANTITY. FOOD HAS NO FLAVOR. PLASTICS SPOON AND FORK. SECOND MEAL THEY SERVE SANDWICH IS VERY COLD AND VERY SALTY. DESERT IS LIKE LITTLE DEBBIE .35 CENTS CAKE.
CREW are nice and understand problems but they can't do anything. i feel sorry for them. they have to suffer.
I travel a lot. February 2019 i traveled in Emirates to Dubai, Oman and India,
EMIRATES IS #1 (ALSO QATAR)
PLANS ARE NICE.(777-300ER) CLEAN INTERIOR. NICE LIGHTING.
FOOD WAS EXCELLENT. LOVE THERE DESERTS. SPOONS ARE STAINLESS STEELS NOT A PLASTICS.
SEATS ARE COMFORTABLE. BUSINESS CLASS WORTH FOR MONEY.
ENTERTAINMENT IS VERY GOOD. BIG SCREENS. ALL PROGRAMS & MOVIES ARE CURRENT.
I am traveling again next month guess what I TOLD MY AGENT "NO ETIHAD".
This is second airlines i RED FLAG after ''AIR INDIA''

Unbelievable. I traded in some airmiles for a 'gift' which was to be delivered with NO delivery charges from your airmiles store. A few days after delivery I received an invoice in the post from Fedex for almost double the cost of the gift. This is absolutely outrageous. When I complained to their customer service they just sent me a copy of their terms and conditions to reiterate that I was liable for the charges - in other words tough luck. I think everyone should know about this.

I am actually so disappointed in Etihad. The actual plane ride is pretty standard. But this was the first time I had to cancel a ticket. I wasn't sure whether I wanted to cancel the ticket so I called Etihad asking how much of a refund I could get back. They told me I could only refund the taxes - this was about £60. This was despite the fact that I wanted to cancel my ticket about 2 months in advance. I was pretty annoyed that I could only get back about 10% of my original ticket. But I reluctantly agreed and called them to cancel my ticket the next day. Whilst I was on the phone, another person informed me that to cancel my ticket they would have to charge me another £30 - this information was not given to me initially. I ended up only being able to recover £30 in total from a £600 return ticket. I was enraged! I fly quite often and I was extremely disappointed in how little I could get back - despite cancelling WAY in advance and being mislead as to how much I could get back. I am very disappointed in their customer service, as well as their cancellation policy. I never review airlines but this absurdity rendered a review.

I flew Etihad from Lagos to Shanghai roundtrip. Lagos to Abu Dhabi took off at 8:30am and we arrived around 8:00pm Abu Dhabi time, only one meal, no snacks. After a two hour layover, another 8 hour flight to Shanghai which arrived at 9am their time, only one meal. On my return leg I have a 20 hour plus layover with no transit visa or hotel room to rest. The meals on board are very bland and they have secondary menus that passengers can make paid orders from, almost an Easy Jet or Vueling type experience from an airline that’s meant to reflect opulence.

TripAdvisor: So in September 2018 I booked a return ticket from Amsterdam to Melbourne for €1466, flying back to Amsterdam in December, but I decided to stay longer and called the contact center of Etihad where they had told me I could change the ticket into an open return ticket that would be valid for 1 year, so till September 2019. The cost that I would have to pay for this would be €150 change fee + the fare difference, I agreed on this. Now we’re in June and I need to fly back home in August so I called the airline again. Now they told me I had to pay an additional €680 for the return!! I asked them how it could possible be so much money as the prices for the tickets on there website where a lot cheaper. They then told me that they have to upgrade the flight to a more expensive one because there system doesn’t allow to stay in the same category + that the change fee changed from €150 to €471!! She told me that I had to pay a no show fee on top of the change fee and that’s why it was €471. I told her that that couldn’t be right because I had changed the ticket way before I originally had to fly, to and open ticket! She then changed what’s she had told me before and said it wasn’t a no show fee but just the change fee, and that the change fee can change price. How is this possible? After agreeing on €150!! I obviously would’ve never booked a return ticket if I knew this before and I would’ve never changed the ticket into an open ticket! They already got €983 from me for the way back home and are asking an additional €680 so that would be: €1663 from Melbourne to Amsterdam in economy class. If I would book a new ticket with for example qantas, with a similar flight duration it would only cost me €572! Never ever will I fly with etihad again!
Update, I have been in contact with a manager that told me he would listen to the conversations I had with his colleagues on the phone, about changing the ticket into an open ticket. He told me it could take a few days so I waited. Now it’s already more then a week ago and every time I message them they tell me the team will contact me ASAP, although I had told them I only want to speak to the manager that listened to the recorded phone conversations. But they or the team haven’t contacted me. I’m getting closer and closer to having to leave the country because the my tourist visa and I still don’t have a return ticket!

Our flight from Melbourne Australia on 14th May was ok. But the food was the same all the way. Cold and terrible. Service was terrible they seemed annoyed to do anything.
Our flight from abu Dhabi was the worse I've ever been on. My daughter paid for seats and they were broken would not lady back she is pregnant and with a get 3 year old. Food still the same from the first flight which was 14hrs the food we got was cold frozen. Oh well we got told breakfeast lunch dinner the same seriously impossible but true. 4 toliets 3 or of order. I bring my own cup and saucer for tea and was difficult to get more them one serve. I will never fly them again and tell others not to. Stewardess rude to. Flying home on the 19th and dreading it. How do you serve 22hr flight breakfeast lunch dinner the same. My granddaughter is 3 and they told us we had to order child meal days before. Seriously its a joke. NOT HAPPY AT ALL.

I had a very bad experience with Etihad Airways. I was supposed to travel from Kochi to Toronto but due to rain my flight got cancelled. I had booked that ticket months before so that I would get a hassle free travel. When I tried to contact the customer care of the airline for reschedule I wasn't able to reach them through the numbers provided. I was getting worried since there was no response from the airlines and somehow when I got thru their customer care I was told that all the flights to Toronto are booked and they can only provide me the refund. I opted for that with heavy heart and tried searching for another flight which cost me double than the previous one. The only suggestion I have is that whenever some calamity happens and flight gets cancelled please do try to reschedule the flight for some other day so that people who booked for that flight can travel. One more thing to improve is your customer service which is vere hard to contact.

I booked and paid in full for a flight in August 2018. My agent also pre-selected seats in August 2018. My flight was mid-April 2019. I got to the airport, queued for an hour and when I finally got to the check-in desk, I was told that I was being denied boarding as the flight was over-booked. They also did this to about 10 other people. After protesting with no result and waiting around for hours, I was told I would have to come back the following night for a replacement flight and guess what I'm no longer flying direct to Amsterdam, I have to fly to Rome and then get a connecting flight from there (which overall added about 5 hours to the travel time). They left this bit out actually - I just saw it on the re-issued travel documents. All I was offered was a USD 300 voucher which is:
1. Non redeemable for cash
2. Has to be used in 12 months
3. Can only be used for transport on Etihad (even though you never want to deal with them again by this point!)
In summary, the voucher is useless and that's all you get. The staff couldn't care less and basically just say you're not the only one in this position... so what??
In total I lost a day and a half of my trip. My trip was about 19 days in total so to lose that much time was considerable. I had to change hotel reservations, cancel plans to visit a location due to the lost time, travel an hour home, travel an hour back the next night, wait again to check in hoping I wouldn't be stung a second time. The flight over was dreadful. I was assured that I had been given the seats I wanted however when I got on the plane I realised that this was incorrect and therefore had a very uncomfortable flight with no sleep. I complained to Etihad head office by email however I was told nothing else would be done and basically they overbook sometimes and I just had to deal with that. Did it matter I paid them in full nearly 9 months in advance? Not at all. Did it matter my agent had pre-selected seats 8 months before? Not at all - no record apparently. Did it matter this was my third long-haul flight with Etihad in four years? They couldn't care less if they tried. I will never fly this airline again. The upset they caused me when I've been a loyal customer is disgusting. Avoid this airline! They also use a lot of single use plastic which is really bad for the environment. You have to pay for in flight wifi (no free period) and you have to pay to get the seats you actually want on top of your ticket price!

Had been a member with Etihad for 15 years or more , not anymore because they are in financial trouble that have turned very nasty to their customers. I usually book a ( higher) fare where I can change my return flight from Bangkok to London for a £150 fee on the last couple of occasion I need to do this I rang to ask to change and was told this would cost me £1000 I tried to explain my ticket grade and was told I would still have to pay as their was only two seats left !
This is just one example why I have left Etihad. Be very careful using Etihad as they are on a major cost cutting program everything has been cut to a he bone , food , drinks, staff , I could go on and on.

I’m appalled by the behavior of your airline staff and customer service representatives. On our flight from Bahrain to the UAE, we tried to book a seat for our infant son (using our FAA approved car seat) due to safety concerns over turbulence, a concept which your outsourced customer service representatives are unfamiliar with.
The on the phone customer service rep confirmed she had booked our son a seat. One day before the flight, the ticket showed that a seat had not been booked for our son. We called back demanding a seat for our son only to find out the price had been jacked up substantially. Fast forward to our flight and we were not given bulkhead seats as promised on the phone. The stewardess informed us we could sit with our son in an emergency exit row. As we are taxing to the runway, getting ready to take off, the stewardesses informed us that we could not sit there and forced us to move — right before we were about to take off. It was an incredibly dangerous situation. I demand a full refund for our flights or I will file an airline consumer report. Your airline is not safe for families.

Flew to Sydney from Dublin with Ethiad Airways. While the staff were good, the food was ATROCIOUS. I could not believe how bad it was, especially on the leg from Dublin to Abu Dhabi. I would NEVER fly with them again. A friend was flying with me and requested a salt free meal. She received a stale roll with cucumber and nothing else. A disgrace. We had a walk up to the Cabin Crew area to request a drink. We felt were were begging for an a drink. NEVER, EVER AGAIN!!

OK so here goes. I booked tickets for the whole family with Etihad using get4flights website. I booked economy class seats for my husband and 4 children. We were given 40kg luggage allowance each! After booking I decided to read the reviews on the website. To my shock and horror the reviews were bad, well not just bad but really really bad. I considered cancelling my tickets but hubby told me not to go through the hassle.
I prepared myself before the flight, convinced we would be treated like animals. I did not prebook the seats as there were charges to do so. The one thing I did do was to buy food before going to the airport so that food would not be an issue. I made a small trip to Tescos and prepared a hand bag with lots of different sandwiches, cake slices and crisps as I had 4 children with me. I did not shop for drinks as liquids are not allowed through security.
The day of travel came, we were travelling from Manchester - Abu Dhabi - Lahore. Our flight was the evening one leaving at 8.30pm. We made sure that we got the the airport early to avoid stress. Doing this meant that the staff were really nice and gave us a whole row including the window seat to sit with my family. The staff were very friendly and smiling. Nothing like I had read on the reviews here!
The flight itself was brilliant.
The entertainment system is not the best in the world but does have a wide selection of films songs and games (both old and new) to choose from. I just listened to music all the way. My kids watched their own movies. The staff were amazing, and I am not just saying it, they really were. They gave my children freebies like coloring books, pencil cases and pens. The staff always had a smile on their face.
The food, for us was fine. Yes there is a massive change from my last flight with Etihad but saying that, it was not as bad as the reviews on here. I got a whole steamed chicken breast with boiled vegetables and mash. It was nice. That's about the only decent meal you get on the flight. The next snack is just a sandwich but luckily we had our own food bag with us so no problem. They serve hot and cold drinks too. They have a new sweet and salty menu from which you can purchase food from around 3 dollars per snack. They even have lasagne and biryani. Me being me I didn't buy anything from the menu, but you can if you want.
The seats comfortability was OK. We got our own mini pillows and blankets. Leg room was OK too. We managed well.
Abu Dhabi Airport is OK but looks run down. Burger King and McDonald's are available to eat from. They even have a costas! It's better to make purchases in US Dollars if you can as it works out much cheaper. We got 3 whole sticks of B and H cigarettes for $30 which is like a equivalent of £18! Oh and toilets near the gate areas are much quieter and cleaner than the main area.
Our flight from Abu Dhabi to Lahore was good too. Again the staff were lovely.
On the way back I dreaded the trip thinking that the good journey to Lahore was a one off, but it was exactly the same. Kind smiling staff, same food. It was nice. I would travel again with Etihad xx
Advice on Travel with Etihad
1. If you are thinking then no, I do NOT work for Etihad. Don't have the cute figure for it lol!
I'm a full time mum with 4 kids.
Honest you can read my other reviews on here!
2. Arrive at the Airport check in early as you can as you are most likely to get the seats you want.
3. Take your own food. Not many people know you can take food through security. Make sure you have no liquids. You can buy drinks from the shops after security to take on the flight.
4. Take consideration for the staff. They are not there to mother you and they are not your slaves. They are doing their job to earn a living. I always tell my kids appreciate their help and always say your pleases and thank yous. It's surprising the service you get in return for some appreciation.
I personally think that most people who have had a good flight don't take the time to write a review. It's only the bad ones that people feel they need to shout about. I wasn't going to write this review as my flight was good, but the unnecessary stress I went through because of these bad reviews I thought I would give my honest experience.
OK I'm done. Have a nice day and enjoy flying x

I booked a ticket with my sister traveling to my home towen for eid, EY613 ,we booked also the VIP lounge to avoid the Qu, first the security in the door of the VIP terminal was not welcome at all I may say rude even, we went to do the CI and the staff doing the Check in was telling us that the flight is fully booked we were Bothe surprise saying that our booking is confirmed she told us even cause Etihad has the right to take over booking, we asked to speak to a manager, she called her supervisor to come to the VIP terminal to meet us and explain or at least to find a solution ,her supervisor said let them come to me as I’m busy when we insisted to see her in the VIP terminal she told us we need to wait 10 min, we were waiting approximately 15 min them the supervisor called saying that the they opened a spote for us, it means that they had empty seats and when they saw us insisting to go on our flights they opened them. All of this happened without even someone come to apologize.
We went to the Demond lounge we did all the process we entered the lounge, as they are explaining in their website it’s something wow from food from drinks from wifi working nothing of this is there we went to have bites we didn’t find anything to eat we asked if they will do a refill of the food they said no I went to have some tea only basics as Lipton I asked for a tea spoon they told me they don’t have and they give me a forck .i paid extra to relax in the lounge to have a nice food and nice drinks nice welcoming at least a strong WiFi and I didn’t get any of that sorry to say zero service and zero customer service no one even escorted us to the lounge.

No Priority queues for Infants.
I was truly disappointed with crew members and their behavior. They should be trained on humanity grounds specially when people travelling with infants or babies. Actually, their such carefree attitude of flying nannies makes child more disturb hence creating chaos in entire aircraft causing inconvenience for other passengers. Instead of giving extra comfort to parents they treat them in manner as if those families are burden at aircraft, saying NO to Etihad.

I travelled with Etihad Airways from Chennai to London Heathrow on June 15, 2019. Earlier I booked for an economy and then I upgraded it to Business class. I am a loyalty member and I have travelled with Etihad in Economy class a couple of times before. In Economy class, I usually liked the service and support from the cabin crew. Since I have had a positive experience from Etihad in Economy class, my expectations from the crew in Business class was high. But I was hugely disappointed with the cabin crew. The first flight from Chennai to Abu Dhabi was fine, but I had a horrible experience with my connecting flight from Abu Dhabi to London. I had a special meal request (Hindu meal), so I was served one. I requested the cabin crew for a cake which was part of the menu and there was a harsh reply from them, that they dont serve it for special meals. Its ok that they dont serve it along with special meals, but it was harsh the way they informed me. I was expecting a way more patient and friendly way of conveying. I am paying for the travel and its not what I got it for free, and I paid for the service what you guys provide to make my travel feel comfortable. I was planning to have another travel with Etihad this year end, but I would strongly give a double think before I travel again with Etihad. Your crew members should be taught to behave well with customers, be it Economy/Business/First class. I did notice the harsh behaviour once again when I had to order my drinks. This is not what I had expected !!
I noticed the stewardess was way more polite to other passengers on board, so it made me wonder if her harsh behaviour was related to my Indian origin !!
