I placed my order for phlox collection in middle of April. After 5 weeks of waiting I tried to contact them via email - no luck. My multiple asking for cancelation has been ignored and my cc has been charged anyway, over a month after order. When it finally shipped, it took a week to arrive and I live in the same state as they. My order was sent in green garbage bag, with nothing to secure. Photo shows how phlox collection looks according to Direct Gardening. Dry, tangled and mangled roots. Not dormant, just dead. I filled complaint with BBB, because scammers like them has to be put out of business.

If I had read all the reviews first, I would've saved my money because I suffered the same negative result. The clematis I ordered and for which I had to wait weeks is still a tiny dead stick after careful planting and nurturing. It's not worth my time to send it back to them because I understand they don't stand behind their merchandise anyway.

I tried canceling my order within a couple weeks of placing the order. I was unable to connect with anyone on the phone and then the website was down for a long time. Several emails over a period of time went unanswered.Then I received an email just a couple weeks ago that my order could not be cancelled because it was already in the shipping department. What? No telephone number to shipping. I've contacted my bank and they are investigating the company for fraud.

As stated by most of the other reviewers on this site, the customer service and quality control of this company is horrible. I purchased over $80 worth of dinner plate dahlia bulbs which took more than 6 weeks to arrive, well past the date I was hoping to plant them. Additionally, they were shipped in a flimsy non-protected plastic bag and as a result, many were damaged. Most of the tubers were extremely small and several of them were rotted. As others have also stated, trying to reach them by phone is impossible. Stay away from these crooks !

Will never order from them again. Most of the plants arrived dead. Some of this could have been fedex because they are extremely bad at delivering and I had to call them to find out what was up with my package. But direct gardening would not replace even 1 because I didn't have the original records from the package. I had all the other conformation emails. Very poor customer service. I will never order from anyone associated with them again.

I ordered common flowers that were listed as in stock. They said 2-3 weeks to ship and then based on weather, phase of the moon, karma, etc. I waited three weeks, no ship, no estimate of ship. I asked for a refund, they said they would pass my request to "that department" but there was no guarantee of cancellation because it has been sent for shipping. These are scam artists who have no idea how to run a business. Don't waste your money or your time.

I ordered $400 worth of trees plants etc. 8 wks ago... I just received a post card stating they will ship spring of 2021... next year. No additional information except it looks like they may ship one tree. If I have any questions send the post card back ... what ??Asked for a refund... nope they will place me on a list for next year.. I need my stuff this year. From what I'm reading I'm sure they will arrive dead anyway... stay away from these crooks. The BBB should shut them down.

Plants came dead, almost 2 months after being ordered. Shriveled and dry, it was a pathetic site. This company should not do business or stay on their clearly mom & pop scale. They cannot keep up, nor do they have the product and distribution down well enough to try to be national. I told them to keep my $50 from the order - they need it more than I do.

Premium prices for tiny bits of planting materials. Most arrived bare root and dried out. The ornamental grass ($16!) was a one inch plug that was so rootbound it will never flourish. Their return policy is impossible so you are just throwing your money away. Great product descriptions but don't trust their deer resistant recommendations. I spent a few hundred dollars on plant debris!

Too bad you have to leave a star to comment. Whatever is the opposite of a star is what they should get. They are a totally fraudulent company. Website looks slick but that's just to lure you in. My order was delayed for months. When I cancelled the order, it arrived a few days later. Moldy, wet mushy potatoes and other trash. Their return policy is set up as a scam; really the whole place is. As you can see by the tons of bad reviews, they are horrible to deal with and send worthless junk.

Ordered plants on April 29th. Still not here on June 9th. If they ship now they will probably all be dead when they get here because of the heat. Sent multiple emails. 3 weeks ago they told me they were processing the order and shipping it. Phone always busy so you can't talk to anyone. The one star is only because they do have some cool plants, you just can't get them. No customer service.

I paid $27.00 on pure garbage potato seeds that were only small pieces and were dried up junk. I tried planting them anyway and after three weeks of warm weather they rotted in the ground. Lets stick together and drive this rip off company out of business.

All my plants were smaller than described, several were dead and I have to pay the shipping to return them to get my refund after I already paid 10 bucks to get them here. Half my order did not come and the number is always busy when I call. I have emailed there customer service and still no reply since March. It's now into April and still no reply or refund for my plants that were never delivered. Worse company I've ever dealt with. Even the free gift flowers that I received looked horrible. I spent $130 with them. Money lost!

Covid19 I was forced to do so. While there are some reputable companies. DO NOT order from Direct Gardening. Their plants are sickly looking and others arrive dead. I was appalled, customer service is terrible Stay away. They are scammers

I ordered some ice plants in the fall that were to be delivered in the spring. I was told that they had been delivered to my front door on a day and time when I was out in the front yard. There was no delivery. I tried calling and emailing customer service and thus far have not heard anything concrete other than a "we'll try to look into it". Very disappointed and will not use this site again

if I could give zero, i would, They sold me bunch of dry roots for the flowering, live plans. Nowhere in the website, there is a mention of the size or the condition of plants. I reached out to them to get my money back, they said they only replace the products if I send them the label by mail while I had purchased everything electronically. Please don't buy anything from this website.

I bought privet hedges in 9/2019.They were guaranteed for a year or your money back.I planted,watered and fertilized them.It is now April 2020 and not even a bud.Tried calling and emailing no one answers.I think this is a scan to rip you off

It's been six weeks since I ordered from them online and I have received nothing. They don't answer their phone, so I have emailed them several times. First they blamed it on COVID. Then they said the order was processing. Third email said it was "shipping". That was over a week ago. Stay far, far away. There are much more professional sites to use online. I only picked this one because they were the only one to "supposedly" have the plant I wanted.

I ORDERED A DWARF FIVE IN ONE APPLE TREE OVER A YEAR AGO AND IT TOOK SEVERAL MONTHS BEFORE IT ARRIVED BUT WHEN IT ARRIVED I PLANTED IT AND NOT ONE LEAF GREW. I CONTACTED THE COMPANY AND RETURNED THE LABEL FOR A REPLACEMENT AND IN OCTOBER OF 2019 RECEIVED A REPLACEMENT. I PLANTED IT AS INSTRUCTIONS SAID AND NOW IN APRIL IT HAS NO GROWTH AND APPEARS TO BE DEAD. I HAVE 12 OTHER FRUIT TREES ALL BEARING LEAVES. Save your money and RUN!!! They do not respond well to inquiries about botched orders, and you CANNOT reach anyone by phone. Over 50 phone attempts. E- response advised me to return original shipping label, which I did. Now, I have nothing. No response from them.

I should have read the reviews before I purchased my seed from Direct Gardening. That mistake is on me. I am a retired President and CEO of a hospital foundation and know good business practices. I order some potato seed from Direct Gardening and when the package showed up the 4 bags of potato seed were rotten. I called their customer service and asked for a refund or a replacement and sent the photographs of the rotten seed. The lady told me to plant the seed and if they didn't grown in 90 days call back. I emailed on their site again images of the bags of rotten seed, I said if you do not believe me send a pick up order and I would ship all four bags back. They stated if i wanted to ship back I had to endure the expense of shipping their rotten seed back. I am not one for putting good money after bad. No future business here!!!

Take your money. Takes weeks to get partial shipment. Potatoes arrived liquid . Could smell the rotten potatoes before opening bag. Most had leaked out of bag. Policy is to get money back you must return product and pay to mail back. This costs more than the product and I can't send back rotted potato liquid that ran down my arms . I still have not received the second part of my order.

3 beautiful starter cactus plants with 4 to 5 stalks in soil that has already started to divide at top of the hard to find Yellow color cactii blooms.
New modern day packaging in heavy duty green plastic bag with each cactii in their own celluloid preformed envelope that kept pot firmly in place, lightweight, and no paper to unpack. Completely happy - I did not expect blooming size, but will bloom nicely this holiday season. Like the bonus bulbs.
Saw so many bad reviews, but completely satisfied here.
