In the last 2 months, I have dealt with 2 branches of Bridgfords (Manchester and Withington) wanting to buy-to-invest. As a cash buyer, I have tried and failed numerous times to get a viewing on properties that were of interest. Excuses such as 'Oh So-and-So aren't at their desk but will call you back', 'we can't gain access' or 'we haven't got the keys' were abundant. All they want is to get your details on a e-mailing list and then send lists of properties you have no interest in.
Warning to all vendors wanting to sell their property - don't use Bridgfords as they have ABSOLUTELY NO INTEREST in helping you out as they do not engage with buyers.

Appalling service for tenants, fixing a leaking bath can take months and it is still not fixed. Leaving notice enforced is not the one agreed in the contract. Julie (from Bridgfords) can ignore your emails.. be ready or run!

Disappointing service. They were great over the phone in setting up a viewing but when I arrived, the agent didn't know anything about the property at all and wasn’t able to answer any simple question - this may be a selling tactic used but I’ve never experienced this before. When I put an offer down in time for the very strict and quick deadline they gave, I didn’t even hear back. The only contact I received was from their mortgage department trying to sell their mortgage advice service (which I’d previously said I didn’t need). I then explained that I’d never heard back about my offer and they said they’d have someone ring me, which they never did. I only found out when the house was updated as sold on right move. I really hope I don’t have to deal with them again in my property search, as reading their reviews suggest this is their usual type of service.

We bought and sold through Bridgfords Estate Agents Winsford. We were made to feel that buying the right property for us was as important to them as it was to us.
We received excellent friendly service and would highly recommend them.

Me and my friends had very bad experience with bridgfords letting agency at Halifax branch. I wouldnt give them even 1rating star if I could. The way they treat their customers is terrible. Not surprise about your ratings now. Never again. I will let all my friends know how we have been treated and to avoid it!!!

They took a month to sort a viewing for a property I wanted to rent. Every time we were due to meet they had an excuse such as the tenant wouldn’t let them in the house, but left it until 15 mins before the appointment to let me know. The photos supplied weren’t what was on the description, said it had been decorated and carpeted recently.. The state of it was awful and shouldn’t have been put on the right move website in that state. When I said I was interested they said they don’t work on a first come first serve and would be in touch, I waited over a week for contact back, left voicemails and then I find out today that it’s been taken off rightmove and offered to someone else. The lack of communication is abysmal. I do not recommend anyone even bothering enquiring. Useless.

My husband and I have bought and sold quite a few properties over the years and this is the first time I have felt impressed enough to write a review.
Choosing an estate agent can be tricky and choosing someone you can trust with possibly one of the biggest financial transactions during a lifetime can be quite scary. Thankfully, a recent experience of purchasing a property in the Buxton area has helped change my view of estate agents and their skill sets.
I would like to make a special mention of the team that work at the Buxton office of Bridgfords. John Sweeton and Judy Scouler lead a great team and Judy in particular made the recent process of finding and securing a suitable property for my family a really positive experience.
Judy was helpful, perpetually positive and demonstrated a superb set of communication skills when delicate negotiations were needed. Her ability to maintain a professional service despite any hurdles she came across was commendable. I like to think that both the seller and I (the buyer) left the purchasing process feeling like we had both gained what we needed to and a bit more. So, well done Judy.
I would recommend this particular team as they communicate with you in a timely manner; they keep you updated when necessary and answer all the questions you have as quickly as possible. I would certainly use them again.

Worst customer service ever. Issues are reported to them 2 months back and still no response. Agents stop taking calls or won't reply back to emails.
I am just waiting for the agreement to get over. Won't ever go back to them. Lesson Learnt

Brigfords Whitefield who I listed my house for sale with closed down, so I was moved to Swinton. This company doesn't have the people or processes to run a service they tell you they can offer.
1. My property was meant to be listed as premium, yet never was at Whitefield, until I'd been moved to Swinton.
2. The new images I had done after decorating my house, wasn't used on the new listing with Swinton! I had to keep chasing them up to get them to update their images! (2 months later they're still not!)
3. They didn't have a video for the property which was included as a premium listing apparently. In short, you get a generic video that has no relevance to your area, with some grotty shopping centre appearing in the video out of area, and surprise, again with the OLD images used for this lol. You couldn't make this up. Again after weeks of chasing... These images were never updated, confusing prospects as to what the property actually looks like.
4. They put a agent to show my house who was brand new to the area and business it would seem. Had no idea about the surrounding area, even though I'd spent a ton of time with the magaer explaining all about this, (Libby Wilson).. You'd have thought they'd want to put their best people on my house to make up for all these errors and 3 months of wasted time with the old office in Whitefield that has closed (now I see why!)
5. The new agent, arrived for the first viewing with a family not suitable for my property, I was told it was a 'young woman who's dad is buying it for her' in fact there were 2 Asian familys of 8 who wanted to look, which my house was too small for.
She even forgot the keys when she arrived for the showing - - I wasn't far walking the dog so when she called I run back to let them all in!
6. For the second viewing, the same woman arrived 10 mins late. The viewers who had been waiting a while were about to leave... I was notified with my alarm system when they pressed the door bell, so I called the estate agent who told me she's running late, and I simply said 'OK maybe just let those coming to view the property know so they don't leave' lol.
They were ideal buyers, younger couple really loved the property, and the agent was expecting them to put in a offer from the phone call she gave me, I said maybe get them back for a second viewing first! Show them the area etc and get them back.
Her lack of experience really shows.
So after all this, I emailed the manager again Libby, who assured me the video will be updated with the correct images, etc and to have more experience agents show my property....
Since then, nearly 3 weeks ago, I've heard.... Nothing.
THERE'S STILL OLD IMAGES ON MY CURRENT LISTING THAT I'VE ASKED FOR MONTHS TO UPDATE!!
I chase again 1 week ago for an update... Nothing.
Seems to me, this company is closing down and noone really cares... And they're taking it for the last ride.
Other than that, it's no wonder online estate agents are taking over...

Dear sir/ madam
I am writing to you to inform you that I currently live in cubic apartments in Preston. I've been living there for eight months now with myself and my partner my day job i dpund out found that a lad had been squatting in one of the flats he's been letting homeless people into the building and on numerous occasions they been seen selling drugs. Also damaging letterboxes and robbing people's mail. Pictures were put up of males ecr I informed ppm management there room number and police but males still live there day and night it's getting bad my misses is scared I have to walk her every were. Were moving soon but this is not on. I should not have to move because police and building people don't do anything. I'm informing you hopefully something can be done soon .he'd been selling drugs and bridgefords refused to help at all. They were not helpful at all they have a duty of care and didn't care at all just about there money .

Very disappointing experience with Sale branch in selling my home. They were disorganised - cancelling their own viewings last minute because they were short-staffed, not providing feedback on viewings and not letting me know when potential viewers had cancelled appointments. They were not proactive in any way and were unable to provide any constructive advice when asked to review the reasons for the slow progress of the house sale. I have changed agents and it is like night and day, with the new one being everything Bridgfords is not!

3 Years on from paying top rental price on a dirty and unsafe property I still haven't received my deposit back. Despite paying over £10,000 in rent, with no secure locking mechanisms on most of the windows, disgusting carpets and unsafe worktops, this company then had the audacity to charge me £150 in cleaning costs!!.
Luckily I was in a position to buy a house and ditch this house and it's landlord who didn't want to spend a penny on maintenance.
Absolute utter crooks, no other way to describe this band of slum landlords.
By the way, good luck on using the ombudsman, I tried and despite all the evidence and admittance by the actual company that they did wrong, they have done sweet FA to help.
The law is not on their side as they will find out shortly when I will be suing for the full amount of rent on the property.

Patronising staff who are not helpful. They lie (e.g. we will clean house and remove old furniture before you move in - they did neither) and provide contradictory information. They also expect you to pay for repairs when it is the landlord's responsibility. The worst letting agency I have ever used. Avoid at all costs!

Not the best experience over a two year period. During our stay in their letting they were the most inconsiderate bunch. If there was a problem it was your fault. The landlord was always right. At the end of the tenancy their deposit holding arm Countrywide did their very best to withhold some of it, even though the property was in a better state when we left it.

We went through bridgefords to rent a property from a privet landlord.
Every single thing we needed them to do never got done we put a lot of money into the house to make it cleaner and to our standard of living.
We were told by these that the house was a big difference and much better on every visit. We got in touch about the decking as it was rotten an needed to be sorted for months an months an after phone call after phone call nothing was sorted. Me an my partner are expecting a baby an needed a bigger house so decided to move on the last visit they were happy with everything... but then after 4 month have turned round an said things needed sorting and it was our problems like the decking and back garden which we were getting onto them to sort and now are keeping our bond well I’m not bothered about the bond but the fact how they go about things to keep money so I will be seeking legal advice stay well clear not even 1 star from me..

If I could give Bridgfords Estate Agents in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire a zero I would. I have never come across such an unprofessional shambles of an estate agents before. When Gemma, the manager came to value the house she was full of sales patter about what she could do for us but I should have realised that it was all hot air. She sent along Eleanor to familiarise herself with the house and to measure up for the floor plan, she spent about 5 minutes in the house mostly talking about her friend up the road and couldn't measure up because she had "forgotten" the measuring tool. The photographer was next who actually deleted all the images he took BEFORE he had downloaded them so it was another week before he could come back and do it again.
Then it was the brochure which contained so many spelling mistakes it was like a child had written it and the description of the house was almost non existent, I had to almost rewrite it for them and when they uploaded the details to the internet platforms once again the errors slapped you in the face. Then came the viewings, I work shifts and told them specifically to check with me before booking anyone in but no, they totally ignored what I said and then had to go back to the potential viewers to rearrange. I had to constantly chase them for feedback, when I emailed I didn't get an out of office so not getting a reply to the email I phoned and when I did manage to speak to Eleanor she was so arrogant. After 6 weeks of terrible unprofessional service and not hearing from them for 3 of those weeks I decided to change agents and emailed them. Low and behold I had an immediate response stating that I was tied to them for 20 weeks and would incur their fees if the house was sold. It was at that point that I proved to them how unprofessional they had been, specifically stating that I had asked them three times for their terms of business and a contract as laid out in the Ombudsman's Code of Conduct for Residential Estate Agents and as listed on Bridgfords own website but they had never given me one, there was nothing in writing, nothing emailed to me, nothing at all, therefore I was not bound to them. I'm actually with a proper, professional estate agents now (Hopkinsons in Harrogate) whose service I cannot fault. IF YOU WANT TO SELL YOUR HOUSE IN KNARESBOROUGH, DO NOT USE BRIDGFORDS

Absolutely appalling service. We agreed to rent a property from Bridgfords (Durham). Upon viewing the property the previous tenants were still living there. It was clearly dirty but we were assured it would be professionally cleaned before we moved in. We agreed a date to move into the property, visited the office and paid the bond and one months rent up front. On the date we were due to move in we picked up the keys and went to the property to find it in a state of disrepair and absolutely filthy. We phoned Bridgfords Durham office and spoke to a member of their staff who was horrendous to deal with. She was rude, obnoxious, dismissive, and unintelligible presenting arguments with no logic or sound basis. From a customer service point of view she could not have done a worse job if she tried. Bridgfords had no intentions of resolving the situation for us. They left us to meet the workers at the property and arrange for it to be prepared. The workers we met descibed the property as "uninhabitable". We recontacted Bridgfords and explained that we are now in a position where we have nowhere to live and Bridgfords are refusing to pay back the money we are paying for an uninhabitable property.
I understand that people can find themselves in desperate situations (as we are) and the temptation to take any property at the time but I would seriously recommend avoiding renting a property from Bridgfords. They truly are appalling.

Firstly we are giving 1 star only because we could not choose 0.
Bridgfords Hacienda in Deansgate (Manchester) is an absolute disaster, we never had such a disgusting experience with a letting agent. Renting with them has become one of the most frustrating experiences in my life, after getting the keys and paying you are forgotten.
We have been left down in any possible way.
There are many episodes I could talk about, from the time I reported an heavy case of black mould behind the bed and I have been told from the property manager to do an EXPERIMENT, wiping that off and waiting to have it again to understand "how bad that was", to the time I have been called a LIAR because they did not receive payments from us when of course monies were living my account regularly.
Turns out THEY GAVE ME THE WRONG REFERENCE NUMBER ( I have emails to prove it). Do you think someone apologies for that? No.
And I have so much more to add.
The stress they caused me was unbelievable. It was really hard for us living in there knowing that we could not rely to the agency.
Rarely reply to emails and when they say " we will call you back" feel free to switch off your phone.THEY WILL NEVER CALL YOU BACK.
In this horrible agency there are only 2 people you can actually rely on, Mr Nathan Rothery and Mr Micheal Roberts.
