I've used Best Western twice... both times terrible. Both hotels were in desperate need of an update and some TLC. Customer service is also quite appalling. The second time, I stayed in the Best Western Dryfesdale Country House Hotel which cost a whopping £258 for two nights !!! An absolute rip off considering what we received for this! The hotel was out-dated and tired, the staff were also rude. As a venue for weddings and events, they didn't seem best prepared to cater for this. Would chose any other hotel chain over Best Westerns... avoid!!

If I could leave a “0” rating I would. Stayed 6 nights at Best Western Universal. Was in town for a Travel Agent convention. Had bugs all over one of the beds the 2 night and we changed rooms. 2nd room had a water leak and flooded the floor. Horrible customer service. Never offered to assist us in changing rooms and denied we complained about the water leak. Also we found some of our hand towels laying on the “open” toilet seat and not the bath towel bar. When we mentioned it, the maid came in and went to put them up on the towel bar for use.

I'm embarrassed to say that I was scammed. I'm a senior citizen but this is the first time I've been the victim of a scam. Congratulations Best Western! Job Well Done! Best Western will not refund my money. I stayed at the Best Western in Acworth Georgia (which by the way had roaches and fly-like bugs) for 3 nights, from Sept 19-21. I was charged for 4 nights. I have called the Best Western Corporate offices and spoken to Ms. Cole and Ms. Cassell in writing and verbally. They told me that the fault lies with "the individual Best Western". Best Western Corporate told me they can't help me because it's the individual Best Western's fault. Best Western Corporate has "nothing to do with the actual hotels". Can you believe a corporate employee said this???? So Best Western Corporate, who runs Best Western, is responsible for collect franchise fees from the hotels, BUT, when one of their hotels commits fraud, well, that has nothing to do with them. So......."Best Western" isn't to blame because it's "Best Western's" fault. This is a scam and it was very well implemented. First they get you to pay extra for a reservation that is flexible, cancellable and refundable. Then they keep your money. Best Western has $100 of my money for a service they didn't provide. These are desperate measures from a hotel that must be struggling. Although maybe they rented out that room twice and double collected on it. I see the lawsuits for carbon monoxide poisoning and bedbugs. I suppose it won't be long before there is a class action fraud suit that I will join. I hope a Best Western Corporate Officer is reading this because as a CPA and Business Consultant I have a solution to your financial woes--start charging the roaches.

Best western chain of lakes in Leesburg Florida. Let me start by saying I got a horrible sinus and ear infection for over a month from staying in this hotel. We were displaced from our home for a month due to a flood and to make things worse we had to stay in this god awful hotel. The shower curtain smelled sour. I told them several times and was told they would change it which they never did. All they did was spray to with some very nasty smelling deodorizer that smelled like cheap cologne and as soon as the smell was gone the sour smell came back. The air conditioning filter was black. When I told them about it all they did was remove it and not replace it. If I had been paying for this room I would have never checked in. I don’t recommend that you stay here and I will never again.

189.00 down the drains. My room has only queen size bed. They gave me a room for handicap. This place needs a make over. I felt rob for my money. Never again!

Stayed in the Nottingham long Eaton hotel And will not be returning.
Our room had not been cleaned sufficiently we found socks from the previous holiday makers left on the floor as well as a packet of biscuits on the floor.
The en suite is dated and looked unsanitary also with a broken toilet roll holder.
It was unbearably hot with small windows which allowed little air though somehow managed to still allow for alot of motorway noise.
We stayed in a family room which was a suitable size for my husband and I with our 6 month old, however no cot was offered or supplied, thankfully we never leave home without a pop up cot. I dread to think what our options would have been if we had been less prepared.
When we complained at the front of house all they had to offer was a 12% discount for if we returned.. Which I can assure you we will not.
The only positive about this hotel was the bed was soft though unfortunately not very big, I am not a tall person I am 5ft 3 yet I found the bed too short and my poor husband who is 6ft overhung and nearky fell off when turninh from one side to the other. However we did not sleep a wink due to the unbearable heat so we now have a 5 hour drive with a 6 month old and none of us have slept very well.
Also note to anyone with a mobility condition this is not accessible for anyone who struggles with stairs. I am disabled and our room was up three flights of stairs, it took about 20 minutes for me to do one trip and was then in an awful lot of pain.
Will not be returning or recommending we are very disappointed after paying so much money for our time here. This has left a sour taste for us especially after the lack of compensation or care from the staff

Have been to a wedding party, where we purchased drinks went to the toilet, and on our return our drinks had been removed! ( Liquid still in the glass and things still at the table!) Staff with no common sense!
Awful service, snooty staff. Will never return!.

Stayed at the Walton (best western) in Clevedon. Really good experience. Staff very friendly, service great, clean, good value for money. Situated on the seafront and a coupleof minutes walk from the pier and shops. Will stay again here when next down. Recommended.

Worst hotel ever for disabled people, damp, mouldy, dusty, and back entrance made my mother feel like a 2nd class nuisance. Had to wait for someone to dash through the building to let us in.

I've used Best Western Swiss Cottage for years and up until now it's been fine but my last visit was pretty awful! The receptionist, Ian Jackman was rude and curt when I wanted to alter my booking and change my payment card which incidentally wasn't done and put me to inconvenience. I stayed in a single room with a broken bed which I raised with reception and nothing was done. Everything is looking rather tired and patchy. I suspect that the electrical light above the shower is not to current regulations so don't go spraying water into it unless you want a shocking perm! Very disappointed. Won't be returning.

We had the pleasure to stay at several Best Western Hotels across Scotland. You can find great deals now and then. The staff are always a pleasure to deal with and both rooms and leisure centres are always spotless.

Having booked the Sanctuary Suite as a surprise night away with my partner I was told 1 hour before we were due to check in that the room had been double booked. I had made the booking weeks ago. If this wasn't bad enough, I happened to have already spoken to the hotel earlier in the morning but nothing was mentioned. I told them we were only 15 minutes away and whilst apologetic all they offered us was a standard room with a complimentary bottle of wine. This doesn't even begin to make up for the upset and embarrassment that such a huge error on their part caused. I asked who made the booking first to which they advised it wasn't myself however I dispute this as when I booked the room I was looking on both their own website and Best Westerns website for the best rate. There was no offer of re-scheduling the booking either to another date (why not?). Since we were only 15 minutes away we did arrive at the hotel to be shown some of the standard rooms in case we did want to take up their offer. We didn't. My advice to you would be to call them up to double check your booking, and double check it again before you set off! It seems they prefer bookings direct on their website rather than via Best Western which offered me a discount which is perhaps why my booking wasn't taken/accepted.
It's a shame that Best Western have their name to this hotel as the poor experience is not their fault. Management at this hotel didn't do their upmost to put this right. A standard room with a bottle of wine is not adequate in making up for an error of this magnitude.

Crewe Arms - Best Western Crewe
Possibly the worst hotel I've ever stayed in - and I've stayed in some dives !
No one at reception on arrival... after 10 minute wait given key to room on 2nd floor.. lift was out of order.. room was already occupied...back to Reception...no apology given...room was like a sauna...unable to adjust heating...opened window but traffic noise was very loud...bed was way too soft...pillows like rocks...got to sleep eventually around 1am...no extractor in bathroom...breakfast was luke warm…staff looked very fed up when I mentioned there was no orange juice (which arrived after 15 minutes)...toaster not working...next day the key fob wouldn't work (obviously only set for 1 night stay), generally staff more interested in talking to themselves or eating pizza on Reception desk. Even on check out I was asked was everything OK, when I said "no not really" I was not asked for details. Best member of staff was the housemaid - at least she said hello with a smile. Lesson learned - Premier Inn may be £35 more a night but worth every penny !!
On the plus side the parking was OK.

Staff were exactly as they should be, helpful & happy. The window opened and the bed was slightly softer than other establishments that I stay in and this made it the best night's sleep for a long while, whilst away. I had a meal from the hotel's basic menu, this included fish and chips which I could not eat as the battered deep fried Mackerel was not what I was expecting ! The manager was busy with a couples wedding arrangements so I complained the following evening and the hotel took the fish and chips off my bill.

The Dower House, Knaresborough, York, England. Room number 1 is awful and sickening. The drains are blocked and stink, the shower drain was cleaned by the evening bar man, and air freshener was used, but it didn't really reduce the sickening smell. The hotel was full so our room couldn't be changed. The wardrobe door was broken. The windows are single glazed allowing all noise from the carpark in too. The room door lock is damaged. The room above is extremely noisy, with very squeaky floor boards, so any movement up there is deafening in room 1. Unfortunately for us, the person in the room above was up at 06:15 on Sat morning, therefore as a result, so was we! On a weekend the facilities are not open until 08:00, so there's nothing else to do but sit in the room listening to the noise above. Even the TV noise doesn't help! By 07:00, we had enough and simply had to leave, very tired. Upon checking out, the receptionist asked if all was ok with the room? We said no, told her of all the problems, of which she already knew because the evening staff had made a note, so she said she would get the manager to call us but unsurprisingly, 24 hours later, we've not received the promised call... couldn't fault the evening staff, they tried their best, but they couldn't resolve the problem. We had no option but to stay, we had already had a couple of beers, so unable to drive! No compensation of any sort offered by any staff here, despite how bad the whole experience was. I will be keeping away from Best Westerns in the future.

Had a two night stay at the BW Mornington, near Paddington and could not fault it in any way. Room was compact but spotless and quiet. Good bathroom & shower & lots of fluffy towels, only criticism is towel rail was far too hot - hot enough to potentially cause skin damage if hands held it for too long and had to keep the bathroom door shut to avoid making the whole room hot. Breakfast was outstanding and plentiful as much as you could eat in a buffet style with full English on offer with cereals, cheeses, cold meats, fruit & juices plus continental breads, pastries & croissants too if wanted. Great location, just a short walk for bus, underground & main line trains at Paddington, tube & bus services also at Lancaster Gate. Hyde Park just a stroll away too. All the staff were very welcoming, helpful and attentive. Hotel itself is in an impressive Edwardian building with gorgeous original features such as the staircases, ceilings with plaster work and library. We have often stayed in Best Western hotels over the years, they are always our first choice as all we've used have been exceptional, offering great accommodation, food and service for very reasonable prices. Highly Recommended!

Honest experience of Appleby Park Hotel? Shambolic, chaotic, half serviced rooms. Staff intimidating and rude. Jordan, I’m still “expecting your call” as you rudely and aggressively advised you would be calling.
Sales coordinator left to deal with complaints. Manager eventually responded but refused to believe our reports and may as well have accused us of lying.
Manager not capable of offering customer service.
Best westerns were always my first port of call for a hotel - this hotel gives the brand a very bad name and should be stripped of the brand. Better service and cleanliness in a budget hotel who actually care for their customers.

White house hotel in Watford. Manager couldn't do enough to help out and although we had a slight leak in the room (upstairs had left tap on overnight, we think). He sorted it quickly and offered us another room. I was going to struggle finding parking spaces and he said I could keep my car on site for the next day whilst we visited the lion king production. Get what you pay for with the room, very clean though. Highly recommended and the staff get 5* from my daughter and I. Thank you

Best hotel ever visited. Staff were very friendly, helpful. Room was great, with all services provided. Clean, nice. Bed was also great. Only thing is, that WiFi isn't so great, because log-in process is really complicated and most of the time, device wouldn't connect to it. Internet was also very slow. Overall it was great, but WiFi needs to be upgraded.

We won a weekend break in Stoke staying at this the Best Western Moat House in Stoke on Trent, everything was arranged, by the Stoke tourist board, hotel local experiences etc etc, after a painful drive from Malvern up the M5 and M6 we finally arrived at the hotel reception with luggage, looking forward to a shower and having some food, only to be told by the receptionist that our room had been cancelled and given to someone else, there was no apology just basically tough the room is no longer available, we had no option but to drive back home, this totally ruined our bank holiday weekend, i will never stay at this hotel chain again.
