If I could give them a 0 I would, it has been a nightmare. From the time I submitted my manuscript they took total control, they had my book up on amazon in 9 days with typo errors, that explains how rushed I was. You take the control, dont let them push you. I don't like the cheap yellow looking paper. Pls do your research, find out what questions to ask, do not sign any contracts until you are 100 percent sure, or u will lose your refunds. Do not fall for any marketing scams they will tell u anything and pls dont give them your money you will have to go through hell to get it back. If you do make that mistake, don't give up that's what they want you to do. Call cosumers Report, the news station once you get your documents together, call them everyday leave voice mails, get their email, sometimes they will block u let them know you are not playing tell them what legal actions you are taking. The attorney general will contact them in filing your report. Stay away from their property sisters especially author solutions. I did recover my refund and that's only because I did not sign the agreement contract for ther marketing package they wanted 17,000. These DEVILS are a mess and many other publishing companies.Never let them keep you on the phone when u tell them youll get back with them, dont fall for the publishing package this is the the last day mess. The greatest experience out of all I went through was worth being able to warn new authors and my money I got back.

I have published three books with authorhouse. The representatives were very flexible in assisting me with the payment and publishing processes. I would have taken advantage of their marketing opportunities but they were out of the range of my budget. The only drawback was that I was not informed that I had to pay for the shipping of the promotional copies of my book, which postponed my plans to launch the print version of my book

Author House is helpful, reasonably priced and fast! I've published 4 or 5 books with Author House and wouldn't use any other company.

I have published two books with AutherHouse UK but my experience has not been the best. My first book was about dyslexia (Consequences of Neglecting Dyslexia) and they have high prices on the packages, but they provide no support nor suggestions on how the book can be improved.
Not only are the initial costs very high, but they also have hidden costs on marketing and editing. In addition, they let you do a round of three corrections within the initial costs, and you have to pay high prices thereafter (£80 per round for inside the book, and the cover is £20). What a rip off!
For the book for children (Rabbit and the Evil Wolf), there were initially some big mistakes in them which a publisher should either correct for you or notify me of them, but they did none of that. I had to struggle myself by asking friends/family/former English teacher etc to help rectify the book, but Authorhouse did nothing and sat back as if it is not at all their responsibility.
I have contacted a different publisher, called Austin Macauley Publishers Ltd, for my next book, and so far they have promised me the following:
- the overall cost will be lower
- every service will be within the cost
- there are no hidden costs

Without AuthorHouse I never would have gotten my book, Be Careful What You Wish For, published. Their excellent team walked me through every step of the process and quickly answered all of my questions and concerns. I would highly recommend them to any author out there.

As a new author, I needed help. I was looking for a partnership where both of us contributed and shared costs and benefits. A friend who had used them recommended AuthorHouse. I received lots of explanations and encouragement, plus prompt execution of the corrections and printing. We are just now at publication and I am hopeful they will continue to work with me as a partner in this project.

Had I known ahead of time, that AuthorHouse did not edit my work, I would have gone elsewhere. As it was, my wife and I did all of the editing and have a nice product, but we had to spend many hours doing that. Initial information regarding costs of producing the book would have been beneficial. I was shocked to see $20.99 as the retail price of my work, and my profit from that is $8.63 as AuthorHouse charged $11.36 per book. Now, offset printing (Cost?!) is thrown my way (if sales are good) at a "lower" cost. Too many options one right after another.

"THE TROPHY TREE" IS MY THIRD BOOK PUBLISHED BY AUTHOR HOUSE. I AM 80 YEARS OLD, AND UNABLE TO RELATE TO THE INTERNET. I LEARNED I HAD DEMENTIA. I NOTIFIED AUTHOR HOUSE TO STOP THE PROCESS BECAUSE I COULD NOT FINISH THE NOVEL. NEVERTHELESS, IN SPITE OF THE MANY PROBLEMS OF MY CONDITION, MAINTAINED THE ORIGINAL SCHEDULE, PRODUCED A SUPERIOR PRODUCT, ALL THE WHILE ENABLING ME TO UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS, AND, MAINTAINING THE ORIGINAL TIMING. "THE TROPHY TREE:" WAS RELEASED LAST WEEK.

Other than annoying constant phone calls for me to spend more money I didn’t have & pressure selling & wanting loads of money right up front, my book turned out beautifully.

I think authorhouse is a scam. They took £1200 from me and did nothing except ask for more money. In hindsight I have mental health problems and at the time I was mentally unwell when I signed the contract. When I got better I explained the situation and my psychiatrist wrote a letter explaining that I was mentally unwell when I signed and sectioned under the mental health act and they NEVER gave me a penny back. They are heartless criminals and greedy and I would like to warn anybody thinking of publishing with them!

A scam vanity company of the worst kind. I suspect the glowing reviews I read were posted by Authorhouse's paid employees. They pay them to troll the many other sites where victims of these scammers post their warnings. They charge huge amounts of money for inferior editing, actually create more errors then demand high sums to correct their own errors. They do not read the manuscripts and will publish the most inferior offerings. Their staff are barely literate and conversation is time wasting. Emails are sometimes unreadable. You are passed from one person to the other constantly. Harassment is common both day and night yet promised calls do not arrive and emails remain unanswered for weeks. Their so called Hollywood treatment is a scam.....their Pitchfest also. They promise the moon and deliver nothing. Their paid reviews are worthless and their marketing non existent or ineffectual. There are dozens of sites online giving many more examples of their illegal and fraudulent practices. They are, and have been, the subject of legal proceedings for their shady dealings. Run a mile from these scam vanity crooks. Publish with firms of repute with real literary skills and knowledge or traditional publishers.

First, we haven't finished our AH book order. My elderly father has been in contact with them for many months. Then his AH contact called me today, twice, to discuss the project - money part of that - but I said I was not involved so..? He talked on at length, and on. But as I was not party to previous talks between AH and my dad, so what the heck?! I had glimpsed the 6 full pages contact sent to my dad from AH. That didn't impress me much... Anyway, in this one contact call with AH I witnessed many of the AH problems stated here: their doublespeak (I asked the guy 'how much' $; he rambled on for five minutes and still I wasn't sure), their focus on money, their pushiness/ aggressiveness. I finally practically had to hang up on the guy. In the end, looking here, what I can't figure is the great disparity in reviews - from utter love to utter hate. I wish those who praise it would give more details - how many books have they sold, how much money made, quality of the book illustrations/ photos, the color, the text, the binding; was it marketed worldwide as promised, etc. That concerns me - the 'con' reviewers give specifics - those who praise AH have simplistic things like 'I love you'. Hmmm... not liking AH right now.

The service received from Rain Gozo - Publishing Services Associate and Leigh Allen - Publishing Services Manager was extremely poor. Rain Gozo did not have any knowledge about my book or the package I subscribed to for my book to be published. She also misinformed me on what my entitlement was and the time lines. On the other hand her boss Leigh Allen was loud and kept speaking over me in an extremely loud tone. She did not care about me as a customer. Beware of you get any of these individuals to service you your in for trouble. I'm surprised AuthorHouse employs such poor mannered individuals. Its a shame.
