My sisters bought me a ticket to meet them in Las Vegas, I live in Canada, It was through Delta but the flight was West Jet, I upgraded my ticket so I would have extra leg room 179.00 US dollars which I didn’t mind paying the extra fee. The problem is the seats are to narrow and they are to close together. I was supposed check in 24 hours before my flight to come home which I did right on the dot, and the plane was already full so I could not paid extra to upgrade my seats. How ridiculous they should allow you to pick your seats when you buy your tickets. The only nice thing on my flight was the flight attendants they were very nice. Flight WS 1424 Sept 9 from Calgary to Las Vegas.
You should have the choice if you want to pay more. Worst customer service for seniors.

Recently flew out of Edmonton for the first tine. The WestJet checked baggage attendant asked if there were any aerosols in my checked bag. I advised yes, there was a can of hairspray. The attendant then advised I had to remove it, that aerosols were no longer allowed on airplanes due to a risk they may explode. I asked if this was a new rule as I‘d never heard of it and I’ve flown several times out of Calgary airport and never had an issue. The WestJet attendant then advised me that Calgary was a hazardous goods airport and Edmonton wasn’t and if I didn’t give her my brand new can of hairspray, my suitcase would not be put on the plane! Long story short, she was very rude and obviously did not know the TFSA rules. I lost a $25 can of hairspray and, when I contacted WestJet they just dismissed my concern and expressed a hope they'd see me on a future flight! Good to see your customer service is going down the tubes WestJet!

We flew WestJet in September 2019 in order to emigrate from the UK to Calgary on the basis that their direct Gatwick-Calgary single trip tickets were significantly cheaper than e.g. Air Canada and British Airways, saving us over £1,000 on the ticket costs. In addition, the flight times were very convenient for us (departing the UK at 2pm and arriving in Calgary at 4:30pm), giving us plenty of time to get to the airport on the UK side (no early morning rush) and giving us sufficient time to get through customs/immigration at the Canadian side.
Looking at some of the other reviews, I am a bit surprised by the negative reviews, as we had a very good experience:
Since we were flying with a 2-year old, we wanted to take his car seat on the flight partially so that we had a car seat on arrival in Canada, and partially to help him sleep on the 9-hour flight (as he is used to sleeping in his car seat). Since we could not find information on the WestJet website about whether or not our car seat met the necessary standards for being able to be used on the flight, my husband call the WestJet customer service line, who reviewed WestJet's internal policies on this matter, and confirmed that we can take the car sear on the flight. On order to assist with the verification process on the day of the flight, the customer service adviser provided the applicable internal document number that confirmed that the car seat complied with the necessary requirements - on the day of the flight, we had no problems with taking the car seat onto the plane (it took the Gatwick bag check staff about 15-20 mins to verify the information we received from the central WestJet customer service adviser on the phone, but this did not impact on us, as during this time we were busy checking the bags).
Since we were emigrating and would be flying with extra hold bags, we were able to book additional bags for about £30 each (which is cheaper than e.g. EasyJet). The online check-in process was very easy (my husband did it via the WestJet app) and the fact that WestJet issued both email and Apple Wallet tickets was very helpful, as we have previously had difficulties loading the virtual boarding passes on the British Airways app when trying to board, even though the boarding passes loaded fine at home.
The flight itself was very comfortable - plenty of legroom (my husband is 6ft and he did not feel cramped), lots of under-seat storage and the overhead lockers were spacious as well, very good food, free water refills, plenty of drink refills, the on-board movie and TV show selection was very good (did not have enough time to watch everything that we wanted to watch - you have to bring your own headphones, but this means that the headphones definitely fit, unlike on some other flights where the headphones are either too big or too small), our 2-year old really enjoyed playing around with the interactive flight map, and another cool feature was that rather than the traditional plastic window blinds, you had dimmable windows, with a range of different window darknesses. The only downside of the flight was that it was quite warm in the section that we were sitting in (other sections of the plane had cooler temperatures), and unfortunately this was not something that the flight staff were able to remedy, as the air conditioning system was centrally controlled.
Would definitely fly with WestJet again!

Another day, another call from Westjet that my name had been chosen to be harrassed to buy some time-share vacation in Mexico. This time the number calling was 604-342-7485. Pathetic way to treat your customers.

On Aug 27th, our flight experience which was supposed to be a gift vacation to my mom turned into a horrible experience and a nightmare.
West Jet Airline denied our flight, by stating at the last minute of boarding that " we have to leave our 2 lbs emotional support dog behind and then enter the aircraft”. We were in shock, my mom, my dog and myself were exhausted. We were crying, pleading the West Jet Airline personnel to let us go home, two hours away from LAX airport to Vancouver, B.C.
We were stranded in LAX airport all night. They called LAX police officer on us. He actually felt so sorry and so in shock about this heartbreaking scene. He ended up staying up with us until midnight, getting my disabled mom a wheel chair and a bottle of water for all of us.
Who would leave their family member behind like a bag of garbage? That was beyond horrible! Something very tragic could have happened to my mom or my dog that night. It was a miracle my mom and my dog survived and we had a guardian angle, the LAX police officer literally protecting us and not leaving our sight. To this day, two weeks passed, we still have nightmares, my mom keep having bad dreams that we are left somewhere and not know where to go. We are so traumatized and broken by the West Jet Airline cruel act. That is not humane. I hope this horrible story gets shared with as many people as possible. I have contacted this airline and demanded some reasonable logical explanation. They still have not called nor responded to my calls and emails.

Got told at the check in desk that our flight had been cancelled and we had been booked on another fright to Toronto (we had booked to fly to Montreal so why they thought that was a good idea, god only knows).
No prior warning of cancellation and met with attitude by the airport manager who is clearly used to the 'cancelled flight chat'. Anyway after a long arguement and multiple phone calls manage to get a much delayed flight. Compensation...a non-transferable WestJet voucher. Would rather get a used toilet roll. Don't live in Canada and will certainly not be using them again. Can't even offload it. Thanks for nothing WestJet. Make RyanAir feel luxury.

Wow what has happened to Westjet. Used to be proud westjetters now they are just rude and obnoxious. Used to love Westjet but service has gone in the toilet. Destroyed our suitcases and cancelled a flight with no notice until arriving at the checkin. Said no room on next flight but when checked the app it showed availability. Done flying Westjet. So happy to be Canadian with only two crappy airlines to choose from thanks to our protectionist politicians.

Upon Buying a Ticket with westjet, they offered me complementary services like car rentals, and advertised such for extremely low prices, well now I know it was a scam. After booking the car with the company they recommended to me, the following happened:
i booked a car with CarTrawler - Alamo for $11USD/day as advertised, and upon arrival to Punta Cana Airport PUJ, Dominican Republic, they gave me different excuses as to why they couldn't or wouldn't release me a car unless i gave them $150USD/day. The office was full of families and travelers who suffered the same fate. first the lady told me the website was wrong on the prices, and then the manager told me the car had mechanical problems, and finally some other employee from a next-door rental company (how sketchy is that) said that the car had been booked out to somebody else. Following these events is when they gave me the $150USD/day SUV offer which obviously i couldn't afford for 10 days. what kind of scam are they running at this airport? rather what kind of scam is this company running globally? I'm sure the advertisements are still up there to this day.
I have a photo of the document containing the manager's signature and an explanation saying "could not release car due to availability issues". there is nowhere in that country where you can get a car for less than $40USD even if you bargain... Average is $50USD, so this is a matter of false advertisement and poor customer service. Lying to your customer's face and sending them off empty handed just like that? shame on you!
never book with CarTrawler or companies under its name like Alamo, and most importantly, never trust what the WestJet website has to offer because once you put your credit card in you've fallen for their false advertisement.

This is a note to let you know about a frustrating experience I had today while boarding flight Westjet 14 with destination to Barcellona (departure from Toronto Pearson at 10:05 pm).
When I checked in upon arrival to the airport, I paid for 1 checked piece of luggage and I was allowed (with what I had left on me as a carry on) to proceed to security.
I am a scuba diver and I always travel with the same amount of carry on. 1 backpack, my purse and my small regulator bag. I usually attach my regulator bag to my knapsack.
Upon arrival at the gate, the attendants were telling everyone that the flight was fully booked and they were asking for 30 volunteers to check in their carry on to allow for more storage space in the overhead compartments of the plane.
Even though my backpack could not close fully because of my scuba diving fins, I told West Jet employee Danielle I could check in my backpack. But I explained to her that I was unable to close it and I asked her if she could maybe help me find a plastic bag I could put on top of the backpack to seal the opening. She said she would go check for one.
When she came back, she told me she couldn't find any bags.
I then told her I would not check my bag in and be one of the volunteers. I was really only trying to help.
At that point, in a very RUDE way, she told me that I had no choice but to check it in because she saw I had 3 items instead of the allowed 2. I told her I was worried about the fact that I wasn't able to close it fully. She proceeded to tell me, with very much attitude and feelings of power/control, that I needed to FOLD my fins so that I could close the backpack fully. Fold my fins? Scuba diving fins are stiff. I explained to her that that was impossible to do. She said she would "let me figure out a way to repack my belongings because when it was time to board, she would not let me on the plane considering I had 3 items and not 2". She also added that if I didn't do it, I would have to go back to the check in area (on the other side of security!) to solve the problem. Really??
I have always traveled the same way, and I have never once had this issue. Plus, I would have missed the flight.
I then asked her why the Westjet employee who checked me in prior to security didn't say anything to me about the three items but let me through with no issues. You know why? Because there was no issue! The issue was created by Danielle who was probably having a bad day and felt like using a little power against a traveler.
Worried about what she told me and how she acted, I tried to figure out a way to close my backpack so that it could be checked in safely. I managed to find a way. But I have never been so stressed.
I spoke to the other attendant and let her know it was ok to check my backpack now. But still....I volunteered to do it I didn't even have to do that. A little gratitude goes a long way instead of rudeness.
But that's not all!
As boarding started and Danielle placed herself to let the passengers through to get their boarding passes scanned, I closely looked to see if she would let people with 3 items through. And let me tell you, there were many! And guess what, she let them all through.
I don't like to complain about things that happen to me, either in restaurants.or other services. I always try to find the positive in everything, but let me tell you I was really upset today.
I had traveled Westjet before and I always loved how friendly the staff is, they are always funny outgoing and helpful and I was looking forward to my flight today. Well, unfortunately it wasn't the case.
Out of this whole situation what bothered me the most was the way I was spoken to. Danielle acted like a bully. If she spoke to me in a calmer and polite way, I wouldn't have probably felt to upset. I am a teacher and I would never speak to.any of my students that way. Who does she think she is to think it's ok to talk to people like that.
Because of how I felt and of how I was treated, I decided to write this to let you know of my horrible experience.
I am also adding a picture of Danielle.
I don't wish what happened to me today to anyone and I truly hope my return flight experience will be better.

she noticed in the confirmation email that the date of flight was incorrect. she IMMEDIATELY contacted west jet to try to change date . THIS WAS A SIMPLE HUMAN ERROR WHICH COULD HAPPEN TO ANYONE! there is still 1 month before the flight . there is availability on the desired flight.
west jet will do nothing for us! no rebook , no refund , just TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! JUST THEFT FROM A WORKING FAMILY!
HOW THIS IS EVEN POSSIBLE IS BEYOND ME.
they could have made this a good experience and just clicked a mouse a few times to fix and made a loyal advocate , instead they have displayed the true culture of this business , very sad west jet

Beware if you ever want to be treated like crap by west jet by all. Means fly with them. Not only was our flight delayed 3hrs but our suitcases were pretty damaged. My suitcase didn’t bother as much as my child’s. It seriously looked like someone took a bat and started beating the crap out of it. It un-exceptable. I know there is always some sort of wear and tear but this was way too much. The most disappointing part was when we complained to the luggage department. The personnel didn’t care and he was so rude. He was like all we can do is give you a $50 credit to fly with us within a year. Really? Oh wow!! Thanks so much. Let me give you more business and I get a slap in the face. Thanks a lot west jet. I used to be your number one fan. Always recommended you to everyone else and even payed a little extra if I had to just to fly west jet when I could of gotten a better deal somewhere else. But this is way to much.

I recently booked a flight for my uncle from Toronto to Newfoundland. I am 100% positive that I plugged in ALL of the correct information along the way. His name, his phone number, his birthday, his and his credit card information. The only thing that was mine was my email address because he did not have one. Anyways, that was fine. I double checked all the information and moved on to the next step. Eventually the flight was booked. Fast forward a few days later...I go to print the itinerary for my uncle and under passenger’s name it says Mr. Chantal J Kishun. I called customer service and spoke to a manager and a flight attendant, and I told them the situation and they were 100% positive that I was the one that made the mistake. They told me I had made a typo. I’m sorry but if I were to even write my name under passenger...why would I even put Mr when I go by Ms...? Not to mention why would I put me as a passenger and have all his information on the record? I’m not that stupid and they really were trying to question my intelligence. They kept insisting that I had made the mistake but no I did not. They said there was nothing they could do to change it since I booked the basic fare and because I called after 24 hours. First of all I am someone who has Crohn’s disease and suffers many flare ups...I’m sorry that I was too busy and sick enough to check my email within that time frame. 24 hours is not giving people a lot of time because again emergencies come up. It’s quite ridiculous that they lack basic empathy and compassion for other people. Absolutely awful customer service. It’s a freaking name change for goodness sake. It was definitely possible and they could do it if they wanted to. Instead I was told they can’t because they have to be consistent and they can’t make any exceptions for anyone. Exceptions...it wasn’t even my mistake? I was told maybe it was an automatic or maybe autofill error...even then not my fault but if it was why would it only change my name and not everything else? It just didn’t make any sense. Anyways they said there was nothing they could do. They couldn’t change the name to my uncle, and said we lost our $462...so money gone down the drain basically. We were willing to pay a higher fee even or to just get our money back but nope they wouldn’t do it. The day after we went to the airport to speak to a westjet representative and as soon as I gave her the reservation code, the first thing that came out of her mouth was my uncle’s name and address....so ALL his information is on file...that should have been a dead give away that it was not an error on my part...if it were why wouldn’t they say Chantal J Kishun? There was some hope there for a second until she called the manager and the manager again said no you booked it in your name...And basically still refused to make any changes even though we drove all the way to the airport to see if we could get this straightened out, wasted gas money....and paid for parking and we still get disrespected like that? I could tell the representative felt bad and wanted to change it...but there was nothing she could do as the manager overruled her. They ended with if I wanted to fly I could take the flight since it’s in my name. I cannot fly at the moment due to medical conditions which they fail to understand and empathize. I have Crohn’s disease and I’ve been having a very bad flare up and my health is really in a compromising situation at the moment and this is how I get treated? Therefore, we left with no satisfaction. Honestly so disgusting....they have lost 2 customers. You’re telling me for people who can barely even afford basic fare, they have to suffer too even in case of emergencies? You can’t win with these people...buy basic fare because it’s cheaper but you can’t make any changes even in critical circumstances....or buy the other fares for a higher cost...which people in low income families can’t even afford like myself....

A**holes went through my bags front luggage pockets that weren’t locked. Stole all 4 of my charge cables in there, cut open my sealed fedex mail envelopes and damaged the clothes inside with a razor blade. Ripped the hole side stitching off one of my luggage bags that’s only been used once before. And coincidentally my laptop no longer works after being scanned( hardrive error). It’ll be the last time I let WestJet cost me thousands of dollars to fly with them. They do nothing for you whatsoever. Hopefully air canada actually treats me like a customer.

When calling Westjet be prepared for Long holds and agents who read off scripts not deviating one bit.
If you ask another question the script comes again.
Ask to speak to a manager and the response "I dont have away to connect you" "I cant give you a number to call.
So in other words "Dont bother us".
They were not listening to a word I was saying. Dont expect anyone here to Care or listen.

A very disappointing experience suffered from Westjet WS 3478 on June 6, 2019, a 9:00 pm flight from Toronto to Ottawa after 32- hours air travel in transit. Having less than 90 minutes to clear customs after arriving from China, re-checking luggage from Toronto to Ottawa, insanely dashing with lighting speed across Pearson airport from one terminal to another end only to be faced with poorly trained impertinent aircraft stewardesses.
The front entrance/receiving flight attendant did not greet me upon embarking the vehicle (never experienced such an impertinent behaviour on board a commercial air carrier in over 45 years of travelling) and the other insolent and arrogant flight crew member tried damaging my brand new carry-on luggage by forcing it into the tight overhead storage space. It is sad to see that we are losing out on Customer Service and respect due to paying clients. Westjet along with all other commercial airlines such provide the proper and necessary training to those they choose as employees to serve the public.

Flight was punctual, staff very friendly and helpful. However, seating was very cramped and old, few toilets were actually operational during the flight and the toilets that were available showed signs of requiring basic maintenance - cupboard doors in the cubicles were being held shut and/or hinged by worn gaffer tape - so worn that the tape didn’t always hold and cupboard contents spewed onto the toilet floor.
It had me wondering what else on the plane was being held together by tape! I was surprised that basic maintenance had not been provided to fix the issue prior to this flight (and probably even prior to previous ones, seeing as the tape was so worn) taking off. Certainly not my preferred budget flight provider!

I have been in conversation with WestJet regarding a flight where my son was re-routed because a delay (due to issues found in an "unscheduled maintenance" - keep this term in mind) meant he'd miss his connecting flight. He was put onto another flight that took him past his destination, where he had a 6 hour layover, then was to fly with a different airline to his destination. His luggage (everything he owns!) was lost and it's been almost 4 days. Luggage issue aside (because that is on Aer Lingus, not on WestJet, his original flight had been upgraded. The changed flight was issued as economy. Had I not called WestJet to initiate a refund, the upgrade $$ would not have been automatically refunded. I was told this by the WestJet agent I spoke with. I was incredulous and she said, "PLEASE, send an email to customer care - I agree, that is SO WRONG!".
My son did not think to ask for food vouchers, and when I asked why he was not offered something (it ended up taking him almost 24 hours to get from Toronto to Dublin), I was told that "we normally do not provide them unless the delay is something we control. Since unscheduled maintenance is not something we can predict, we normally do not provide meal vouchers". SO, by great coincidence (serendipity?) yesterday evening I ran into a friend's son, who is an aircraft maintenance technician...for WestJet! He is frustrated because since the new air passenger protection regulations the federal government is rolling out, he has been instructed NOT to do a thorough check on his scheduled maintenances on WestJet planes. He is to do thorough checks on UNSCHEDULED maintenance checks ONLY, and he was told it's because if an issue is found during an "unscheduled maintenance", WestJet is not responsible for compensating their guests for inconveniences caused by delays. Clearly, WestJet is not overly concerned about their guests' experiences.

Worst airline ever. When trying to checkin at a kiosk in Toronto, we received an error multiple times and couldn’t check in on our phones either and were told to go to the checkin agents. When I tried to go in line, a very rude lady told us to go back to the kiosk when I told her multiple times we had just tried and got an error. She resumed to try to check us in at the kiosk then walked away half way through without making sure it worked. When I returned to the line saying we got an error she refused to let us in and already disgruntled with her, she asked my husband, ‘what’s wrong with her?’ Extremely rude and will never fly WestJet ever again. I had forgot my purse with all of my IDs on the plane in Calgary and I had a connecting flight. The plane had already been towed to another location with my purse still on board. The West Jet staff went out of their way to send someone to check the plane to see if my purse was there. They had even sent someone through security to grab it for me so that I would not miss my flight.
Big thank you to Elizabeth, JC and Nordeen at the Calgary Airport! Meant the world to my 93 year old Grandma and myself to get home that evening.
