I was notified that I had to migrate website to chi. Followed directions provided but ran into several issues. Tech support would tell me one thing to do, I would do it but problem remained, opened ticket again only to get told first solution was incorrect. Website has now been off for over a week......I feel migration switch should have been much easier to do and if support was needed, it should have been more knowledgeable, faster to respond, and helpful. Will becancelling service to another hosting company I work with for another website if I can't get website up and running in near future! (Would just do that now but after reading other reviews, getting a refund is another hastle!!)

Takes forever to get a response during active chat - are you still there???. I get disconnected for a slow response. But I am also supposed to watch for your response after 5..10..15 minutes. Are you still there???
Would readily change to a different host if we had a choice.

28 days. I struggled for 28 days to try and get someone to help us port our site from their legacy servers to their new CHI platform. For 28 days I was told over and over again it would be handled, it was passed on to a senior technician, it would be fixed within 24 hours, etc... 28 days later I just got off the phone with billing to cancel our account with their new platform because, 28 days later, our website still has not been migrated to their new servers.
The level of service (or lack thereof) is utterly unacceptable. It should have been a no-brainer to be able to support moving a website from the old platform to the new platform within the same company but somehow it was something nobody could assist us with. Extremely disappointed.

I have been a reseller for over 10 years and have always been very happy with the Utah tech support I received. Fortunately, I don't often need it but when I have, I have always been happy with my experience. Over the last 3 months I have occasion to call for tech support 4 times, the most recent being today. In each and every time the person who answered the call could not help and asked me to enter a trouble ticket. We are not talking about complex issues here. The first time that I called, back in May/June the tech told me he couldn't help me but if I called back in an hour the Utah techs would pick up. Today's call the tech said, if I could access your platform (I am not on an old platform) I could solve your issue right away but I can't so please enter a trouble ticket. It appears that tech support has been remoted to the UK and it sucks.

They have not connected their own nameserver to my website for over 2 weeks. Thus my website has been down. I contacted them a week ago, and they said they would fix the problem. Nope! They didn’t my website has been down for 2 weeks. They don’t care. Avoid like the plague.

Once I was able to get support, everything went fine. Not thrilled that I had to cough up a bunch more money to get, essentially, what I already had for cheaper. But, you have to keep up with the times. Nice discount. Got three years package. Happy!

As a Westhost customer for over 10 years, using old servers, they contacted me to convince me to migrate to new servers. All my sites were working fine, but I trusted the job to be done well.
After weeks and weeks, the job is finally done - but several sites are offline or have problems.
One site is still completely offline today, more than a week after migration
I contact Support via chat (I'm in Portugal) and send emails directly to the migration team, with no help from anybody to solve my problems in a timely fashion. I ask to escalate and there is now way to do this. They even complain TO ME that I am sending too many messages. Apparently this confuses the poor things, because they deal with oldest problems first. Absolutely no recourse from my side, except to write this review.
/Edit: Adam contacted me by phone and kindly offered 3 months free hosting. I do appreciate reaching out in this way, HOWEVER, even after promises to do better in the future, one of my sites is still offline and I contacted support only to hit upon the same old attitudes of passing the ball - I have to wait for the migration team to reply, which they NEVER do in a timely fashion, and Support refuses to give me basic information like telling me when the guy responsible for my migration (Samuel Ambler) will be back in the office. "Parker K" on support also apparently had to speak to his manager before he could pass the chat to Billing. Facing this refusal to help, I simply shut down the chat with Support and opened a new one with Billing. Incredible!

The tech support at Westhost was excellent. Even when I didn’t know what question to ask they had the answer(s). There was no waiting in line for customer service. Well done Westhost.

I've been a Westhost customer since 2000. I recently received a notice they were discontinuing the hosting platform I've been on for decades and which I’ve prepaid for another 1.5 years. (I understand the sunset'ed technical support problems on the old platform and thus the necessity.) Westhost said I needed to move to their current "chi" webhosting platform. So two weeks ago I asked Westhost how to proceed. Westhost Support said to simply purchase a new "chi" hosting package and transfer my files to the new platform. I would receive a credit for the unused remainder on my old account. I chose the top-of-the-line “Business Hosting” package for a 3-year period and proceeded. The initial transfer and setup were fairly OK (it took a whole weekend of work), except I have several add-on domains, which I thought would be no problem since both my old and new Westhost hosting plans have *unlimited* limits. That however is not really true. The chi hosting plan is really unlimited “websites”, not “domains”. The add-on domains don’t and can’t share the email services of the primary domain has like on the old Westhost platform – you have to pay EXTRA to have emails or forwarders on any add-on domain(s). No one at tech support knew that for days. After several days of calls and support tickets and purchasing add-on forwarding and emails, I got it working. (So much for a relaxing weekend.)
I then called to get my 19-year-old soon-to-be unsupported Westhost server shutdown and a credit applied to my credit card. At first Westhost billing told me they can only give me a Westhost (store) credit toward future services, not a credit on my credit card. (WHAT !?!?) I didn’t want a Westhost credit that I can use in 3 years; I wanted my credited money now! After some discussion, the billing person told me they could give me a $180 credit to my credit card since I just purchased almost $300 of new (replacement) hosting services. Well yea, that is what I wanted in the first place, but there should not be this level of hassle – it should be done automatically. Many other people being forced-off the old Westhost platform should be in the same situation as me – they should get a no-hassle credit too on money they just paid – not a “store credit” on future purchases !
The Westhost FAQs should clearly state the limitations regarding add-on domains and that add-on domain emails and forwarders must be purchased separately.
Westhost currently has a very nice sale going on now where the top of the line Business Hosting package is only $6.40 /month (plus the extra cost of forwarders and emails for add-on domains, which puts it close to my previous rate of $10 / month (guaranteed forever) on my old plan. I’m content with Westhost right now, but when my 3-years is up, I might move if they don’t remain competitive. I don’t want to move after 19 years being a Westhost customer, but we’ll see how it goes for the next 3 years.
I rate Westhost 5 stars on their *current* price. I rate them 3 stars on service, due to the surprises and slow technical support resolution of problems and billing hassles.

I have a complex, and somewhat ancient website. It's going to take a while before all the results are in. However, support has been very helpful and things seem to be working.

I have been with Westhost for a long time - maybe 10 years. The tech guys have always been there to help me with my little problems. Customer service has also been amazing! Westhost has put together a great team. I would recommend them very highly to everyone.

Hosting is great, support could be improved. Most questions are just answered with a link, when two sentences would suffice, and save everyone time!

I can't complain at all considering the price. The one negative I had was during the first call into tech support I was given the wrong nameservers to point my domain to. When I did get back to tech support and received the proper spelling everything worked but I was delayed for a day. Mistakes can happen with any host. There was support at the other end of my phone call. Everything is good now. I'm happy.

In 2003, after endless troubles with my previous web hosting service, I went online and thoroughly researched all of the options I could find. I read every review and hosting comparison sites I could find. I ended up selecting Westhost, and I have never looked back.
Not only does Westhost provide all of the services I need at a fair price, but their tech support is absolutely excellent. Over the years, I have had a few issues--mostly due to my lack of understanding of how the cPanel settings work--and Westhost's tech people have been available immediately and always quickly solved my problems. I have used their email, chat and phone support, and all are top-notch.
Thank you, Westhost!

Too early to tell. I know my webmaster uses you and recommended you after I lost all my files and email accounts when ixwebhosting.com suddenly went out of business and site5.com, which took over the URL titles, failed to also obtain all the website files and email accounts. How they thought they were serving their "new customers" is beyond me, since a Google search on the matter showed hundreds of businesses that went out of business from this debacle. Hopefully, westhost will prove more reliable.

Westhost had older accounts, mine included (12 years) on servers that did not allow https upgrades. The only way to maintain my sites on Westhost as https was to migrate them to their new server, and they demanded more money for this. As if that isn't bad enough -- I paid for a service, not space on a specific computer -- they are moving the goal post for completing the migration. It's been weeks since they said they would have this completed and today someone in tech basically told me to f-off and that the migration was a "courtesy" and I could do it myself, even though another customer is complaining that the instructions for doing this are not clear and two of his sites didn't migrate.
They are taking on too much new business and not taking care of their customers. No idea if, when they will take care of my transfer and redirects.
UPDATED - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. After migrating and paying for new https certificates service was unreliable. Wasted a lot of time. Westhost says they only publish server malfunctions if down for three hours or more. Also, even after they claimed that the server was working, they said that I needed to use FTP client to upload files, even though that poses security problems and they sold me a service that allows for directly uploading files from my hard drive. I will be obtaining a refund and finding a different company.
Also, West Host seem to cherry-pick when they send out links for reviews and thus falsely represent customer feedback. I only received an email soliciting feedback on one interaction. Trustpilot must be on board with allowing this and thus incentivizing firms to sign up for their rating service.
