I considered not writing a review, as it is quite a negative one. But how can anyone else know unless I share? My experience with Westbow Press was a nightmare. At one point I felt like I was swimming through sludge and wasn't sure if I was going to survive—it was that heavy and difficult. In truth, there isn't enough time or space to relate the details. Suffice to say I would never use them again, and I have told them that repeatedly--and why.
I initially opted to self-publish as I wanted to be in charge of my book and its message. I didn't want anyone telling me what I could or couldn't say or how to say it. it was a first venture into the writing world, and I knew absolutely nothing about the publishing aspect.
To condense it: Everything has a price tag attached to it. When I began typing up the manuscript, I contacted the person assigned to work with me and asked if there was a certain way to present it. "No. No problem." I later understood why. There is a charge for every single thing, including formatting. (I was able to avoid that, but was given two pages of potential add-on expenses.) I ended up paying an absolutely exorbitant amount. One extra expense was $2,000 for editing. The assigned editor sucked the life out of my manuscript; he silenced my voice. I was sick to my stomach when I read it and ended up hiring my own editor to retrieve it--at a cost of $1,000. I presented a formal complaint to Westbow Press but was met with no resolution. In the process of sending the completed manuscript to the printers, mistake after mistake appeared--I'd spend hours going through it with a fine tooth comb, and when it came back for a final approval, more mistakes were evident. One time the photographer's credit was removed. Another time brackets showed up--I have never, ever used brackets in my typing--ever. A random period appeared in the middle of the manuscript. There was a mistake in the credit page. I thought I was going to lose my mind. I cannot tell you how many times I went through that same process before completion. I work full time so ended up spending hour upon hour at night looking for any errors--and paying another chunk of change to have them corrected.
I'm now at the end of the project. As part of the package I was to have 5 hardback copies and 30 paperback. The book was published in April. At the urging of a friend, I finally contacted them and asked about it. I did receive the books, but I asked them if they would have sent them to me if I had never asked. They haven't responded. And won't.
It was not a pleasant experience. I felt like I was on a conveyor belt, constantly being turned over to someone new. Which was exactly what was happening.
Two days ago I spoke to the owner of a book store asking how to get my book inro his store. I told him I was self-published. When I told him with Westbow Press, he said, "I'm sorry."
I would never recommend Westbow Press to anyone.

WestBow is so well organized. It is truly a one stop shop. The only challenge was getting passed on to different contact people at each stage, but those people were very professional and responsive at all times. I will be using them again for my next book.

My only criticism, is that I had some difficulty understanding some of the personnel. I appreciate trying o help someone with a different ethnic background...but it was a challenge to understand a couple times. Beyond that...great people to work with.

As a first-time author, all assigned to me at WestBow Press have been more than helpful guiding me through the publishing process. With each step completed in an orderly fashion, an overwhelming process was clarified and made manageable. It is a blessing and surreal to finally hold “my” book in my hands! Thank you, WestBow Press!

Every part of the value chain is spot on but for the rock bottom prices of the offset printing that I requested for.
They've been slow and the prices so far would not allow my book to compete in Africa.
It can still be better.

Westbow Press has walked with me throughout my first publishing experience, answering my myriad of questions and calming my fears. I have grown in my understanding of what my role is as an author. I had no idea of how much the responsibility of publishing would be up to me. I have grown with each step in the process from detailing my characters, to checking off proofs, to finalizing my last proofs. Westbow has directed these steps patiently. I cannot be more pleased with this process and their great follow-up on marketing. I’m recommending Westbow to any beginning or seasoned author. Now the fun begins. All things AGGIE is my new adventure, and I’m bursting with ideas! Thank you Westbow...😊

I recently published my first book and I am delighted with the treatment received by Westbow Press. At every stage of the process, I was provided with expert guidance, professional advice and a courteous manner from every individual with whom I interacted in the course of the publication. I am delighted with the finished book. As a new author, I was unfamiliar with all the nuances of publishing and so grateful that I chose to self publish with Westbow Press. I recommend them without hesitation.

Be sure you own all your images. Even when you have approval to use an image, you still need to get additional information before you are allowed to not use Westbow's images.
One word misspelled will cost you $350.00 to fix! Ouch and the book is pulled for 6 to 8 weeks off the market.
Books arrived several days later than stated in emails.

West Bow press did an excellent job for me on a very controversial book. There were a few fees that came up later that I was not made aware of but could have misunderstood. As far as the team and the people I dealt with, they were great. They listened to me and seemed to care about what I was doing. Thanks for your help West Bow Press.

All the processes to make a book is through and professional. But the cost is a little expensive. I hope the method to pay gets more convenient. I recommend PayPal etc.
