Cameron came prepared, willing to listen, and acknowledging the concerns I had. His comprehensive knowledge concerning the industry, Voices as a platform, and inquiries I had concerning voice over work was invaluable!

I am fairly new to voiceover work, and I feel like Voices.com has been a good place for me to get started and learn the business. I've only been auditioning for about a week, but I feel like I'm leaning a lot, practicing a lot, and putting my efforts towards positive results. I think that the phone consultations with a Randy and with Cameron have been really transparent about the site and about best practices for voiceover talent, and I appreciate the time that they've taken to help educate me.
I will note that no one should approach this site with a get rich quick mentality -- I fully plan to put in the work and expect things to take time. I look forward to being able to post that I've started booking gigs.

He answered every question I had and gave me some great tips. I feel confident that success will come and I commend voices.com for giving us the best opportunity to succeed.

I had a consultation with Cameron, and was blown away by how knowledgable he is, and how helpful the session was. I now feel like I'm on the path to improving my audio quality, streamlining my workflow to decrease the amount of time it takes to audition, and increasing my discoverability so that I can connect with more potential clients.

I started on voices.com around 5 years ago. It's a great place to practice auditioning, and you will audition a lot. Problem is:
1- Many who post a job there do not hire anyone there.
2- The site lets anyone who is willing to pay their fee become a voice artist.
3- This makes it so some jobs will get over a hundred auditions and they might not even listen to yours.
4- You are competing for the job based on your guess of what the client really wants to pay. So people are getting voice overs for very little from those who lowball their price. So someone could get a lowball offer of $300 when they really should be paying over $600. And they just got over a hundred auditions because voice artists thought they would pay a reasonable price for the work.
5- When the client forgets to release funds you can't do anything about it. I had one job that still hasn't released funds and it has almost been a year. Customer service basically wants you to take care of any issues.
6- So at that point I stopped auditioning because I wasn't getting paid and I wasted almost an entire year subscription (hundreds of dollars).
So for voice artists there may be a lot of jobs posted, but there are a lot of people auditioning. I have found the amount of time I spent on voices.com versus the compensation to be far less than other sites I am on. Clients don't realize the time it takes to audition and how many auditions you do in order to get a job. They just think they are being ripped off because they have to pay more than $100. They never consider that they got 40 auditions which took 6-10 minutes each (that's around 8 hours of work done by others just so you can chose one person to record). Then when you take into account the work they do on the actual voice over it ends up that most people are making less than minimum wage. Of course, some are fortunate and get repeat customers. Almost a year ago they were promising big changes, and really they've just made the site look prettier - no real change to solve the problems. For those people looking for a voice artist and can pay more than $100 then you get to listen to a lot of auditions and choose who you like. You'll get the inexperienced with the more experienced, but if you want the best be willing to fork out more than $100. For those voice artists considering get a yearly membership, think twice. Sure you get the chance to audition for a lot of jobs, but only the lucky actually make much money. Plus you pay hundreds of dollars to audition.

Had a phone conversation with Cameron Pocock today, and he was a verifiable hero in terms of the guidance I needed. We spoke on the basics of using the Voices.com platform, best practices when auditioning, helpful tips to assist me where I'd asked for help, and genuinely collaborated on where I can move forward from there.
In terms of being a pay-to-play industry in the beginning, I'm glad I found Voices.com as a place to start from, and as I book work I know Cameron et al will have my back.

Misleading and a complete rip off. They make you create an entire profile for free but as soon as you start trying to apply for auditions, it tells you you have to pay the only membership option they offer, an astounding $500/year which we all know in this industry is an incredibly absurd amount. It rips off actors who don't have industry knowledge. It suffices to say that any company servicing actors (knowing the financial hardships most actors go through for long years) that charge $500/year for membership does not have the best interest of the actors in mind. Plus, I get the same clients in other sites for a much better price, in sites with different payment options and that still let you submit yourself for free within a limited amount of submissions.

Cameron was absolutely fantastic! He helped me with all of the questions I had sent over to him before our phone call. He was patient and helpful with any additional questions that came up. He was so genuine in getting to know me individually as an artist and how to help me achieve my goals...realistically! I cannot recommend him enough.

Auditioning for this job was so easy and smooth. I read the sample script which ended up being the final manuscript, but ultimately left out a couple of words at the end. The Client loved the read just as is. So I just recorded the last two words and project was completed. Wow!!!
Voices.com is the best platform around for Voice Artists to not only get great work, but to also grow and aspire!!!

My consultation with Cameron was brilliant, i wasn't sure what to expect. I went in thinking he would help me with the sound quality aspect of my recordings only. But Cameron was able to explain the site, how your profile and demos drive the algorithms and what I should be aiming for in terms of listen and like rates. He did also help to improve my sound with his technical know-how and then sent through a list of the things we had talked about and some additional resources to get me going on my "homework". Thanks Cameron!

Cameron was really lovely to talk to and very helpful. Even while we were chatting and changing my bio more auditions popped up on the site. I understand how the site works and his advice is useful, and I know he's on hand if I need him! He also helped me technically with my editing and auditioning technique.

Cameron had a chat with me this morning and he was very helpful and understanding about my studio, suggesting I add a pop filter, and fine tuning a couple of things to help the quality of my recording really shine. While I can't configure a full-time dedicated studio, he was helpful in telling me what also could be done to ultimately, book jobs!
