SIXT have always been expensive and maximised their opportunity to make money from their hirers, but now some branches are actively committing FRAUD.
I have never damaged a hire vehicle in my life before and that means in around 100 rental contracts.
Yet, in the space of TWO weeks SIXT (Voesendorf, Vienna) have accused me of damaging TWO vehicles internally which I am 100% sure I did NOT.
They appear to be targeting those hirers who do not take out THEIR full / Premium insurance policy as a way of making more profit, probably charging the same damage to multiple drivers.
I am not certain, of course, how far up the chain this ROT goes.
* Warning: if you rent from them, take 30 minutes to photograph / log every single detail of the vehicle before and after the rental (preferably with a witness).
For non-believers - since becoming a victim myself, I have now heard of many other such cases. Also, see the other SIXT websites listed on Trustpilot to give you a flavour of how this company can operate!

Rented a card during my holiday in Vienna using the Sixt apps and also took the but loss damage waiver extra’s to be sure that my financial responsibility is only 700€ in case any incidents. Paid the full rental with the Sixt apps with the Option to pay immediately to get a discount.
A week after the holiday a nightmare came from Sixt by sending me a damage report and claim that I made a scratch at the bumper where I’m sure that I haven’t hit anything during my rental period. When I returned the car, nobody was there to made the final checking.
Ok, bad luck for me that I haven’t took a 360 images / video to proof I’m innocent when I dropped the car. Seems this should be a practice that everyone should adopt. Make a HD video in good light condition and also look after everything that is below the bumper.
Finally I got the next surprise, I got the invoice of 840€ but that was not the amount that was written in the app. Should be 700€. Financial responsibility.
Oh Sorry, as a customer you actually signed the contract to accept the term waiver excl. Vat but rental including Vat.
That was really misleading and tricky for a customer to spot this minor difference. Why not JUST write 840€ Damage Waiver to make it very clear and direct.
Tourist and as Customers should not be playing around including/excluding Tax in the same invoice.

Impossible to get in contact with them, hidden fees which they will present you with at the end and withhold your deposit until you pay it whether the fees are reasonable or not. Confusing invoices. No inspection of the car on pickup or drop off, so they can add charges to your bill for ‘damages’ when they could have taken place while you were on a plane home or even not at all since you have no power to argue!
