Sherpa offers an ambitious GMAT prep course schedule that's spread out over the perfect amount of time - 12 classes in about 8 weeks. I found the class to be a good mix of both exam content review (Quant, Verbal) and exam strategies/next steps. Nafeez is a pleasure to work with - he's motivating yet compassionate, fair, and above all he really knows his stuff. The practice materials Sherpa leaves you with are great because they allow you to review the concepts you go over in class at your own pace.

Thinking about taking the GMAT and don't know where to start? Sign up for the course with Sherpa Prep first before doing anything on your own, if you're like me then there's no use running around in circles clueless knowing you want to go to business school. The value can't be beat, and you'll learn a ton within a reasonable amount of time as long as you're willing to put in the work. I took this course in Clarendon over the summer with Nafeez, a phenomenal instructor who will go the distance to make sure you're well prepared. Highly recommended, sign up early (weeks in advance) and secure your spot as seats fill up quickly and then you'll have to wait for the next course to enroll.

Sherpa Prep was incredibly helpful in studying for the GMAT. When I first began looking for a prep course, I noticed all the positive reviews online and signed up for the course. I am very grateful that I did. The instructors have great knowledge about the material and the structure of the GMAT exam, and offer endless opportunities to receive extra support. They truly care and want to help in anyway they can. I highly recommend Sherpa Prep.

I cannot recommend Sherpa Prep enough! I have taken classes from both Nafeez and Nasheed and they are phenomenal. I'm sure every other instructor is just the same because Sherpa sets the bar high and over delivers on quality every time. They truly set their students up for success with tips/trips for studying, strategies on the exam, support on applications/essays, and more. If you are in the DC area, you should not go anywhere else but here!! 10/10 recommend Sherpa Prep!

I met and exceeded my GRE goals in every category thanks to Sherpa Prep. The materials are so incredibly comprehensive and easy to navigate, and the in-person classes were equally as helpful. I took the GRE once and nailed it. I felt very prepared and the testing strategies, both mental and practical, were invaluable and made me feel confident going into testing day. Thank you Sherpa Prep for giving me the skills and confidence to conquer the GRE!

If you're looking for a path to an elite score I'd highly recommend this course over others. Others offer to bump scores, while this course provides a feedback loop to increase your score quickly and then squeeze the last points out of the test. Within 1-2 classes it will become glaringly obvious that other courses can't offer the same level of content, test strategies, and study management techniques. In addition to refreshing content I haven't learned in several years, I re-learned some fundamental math and verbal concepts in a way tailored to maximize scores.
Included with the twice a week class ~3 hour sessions: books and prep materials required, custom "content" packets to re-teach GMAT tested material post-course support and feedback options.

I genuinely couldn't be more thankful for Sherpa Prep. I took my GMAT yesterday and I am happy to say that I got a 720 (Q47 V41)
I don't I would have ever been able to make an improvement of ~330 points from my baseline score without the help and guidance of Sherpa prep.
I started my GMAT preparation by taking the GMATPrep #1 exam to see where I stand, while it had been ~10 years since I took a standardized test, I felt that I wouldn't be too far from a 700...I was so wrong when the score 390 (Q29 V16) flashed in front of the screen that I couldn't hide my disbelief. I had grossly overestimated my abilities and simultaneously underestimated the difficulty of the GMAT.
I realized I had a mountain to climb to get anywhere close to the scores I would need (the middle 80 score for T25 schools had a lower range of 650 and I was whopping ~260 points below where I would need to be. Based on articles I read online, even a 150 point improvement from one's baseline score would be considered hard)
This is where Sherpa Prep's classes were a godsend. Week after week I found myself absorbing more information and tricks of the trade than I ever could have imagined. The class breaks down the GMAT into its finest details and gives students the proper tools to succeed on the exam.
I remember a class where we were learning how standard deviation works. Nafeez realized that providing a real-life example would help us to understand the concept better, and realizing that most of us in that class happened to be Eagles fans, he explained the concept by highlighting the fact that the Eagles consistently scored ~30-40 points in every game in the past season while the Giants put up scores that were all over the place (huge variance) and hence the Giants had a larger standard deviation. This is just one example of the time and effort that the sherpa team takes to ensure that we understand the concepts and application behind them.
I started noticing huge improvements in the space of a few months. My practice scores were now hovering between 580-650 points.
After the classes finished, Sherpa offered a detailed phase #2 study plan to help fine-tune my strategy and improve my pace by taking timed practice sets. I also attended the office hours every Sunday in which Erin would go over all the questions that we struggled with. That was an extremely helpful resource and helped me to understand my weaknesses.
Sherpa Prep also has an advance GMAT class for students who are in phase 2. These classes helped me to improve my confidence in decision-making and to understand some of the subtle tricks that would be helpful in solving some of the tougher questions you see on the GMAT as you get closer to the 700-750+ level.
The Sherpa team has been a great source of support from the start of my GMAT prep journey to the GMAT D-Day. The quick chats, the phase 2 timed practice sets, the fantastic materials, the advance GMAT classes, the office hours every Sunday. I don't think any prep company goes out of the way to this extent for their students' success.
While there is no magic bullet to get a 700+ GMAT score,
Sherpa Prep will help you get there and don't get me to get me wrong you have to work a lot.... like 10-15 hours per week for 4+ months and in my case 10+ months, but trust me, the journey will be worth it.

Sherpa is so dedicated to their student's success. They go above and beyond in tailoring their program to you with check-ins and tutoring to help you achieve your goal. I would not have been able to get the score I wanted on the GRE without them.

Thank you, Nafeez. Sherpa Prep delivered the expected results. Many MBA schools offered admissions with scholarships (Georgetown, Cornell, Penn State, Maryland, and more). I decided to go to Georgetown.

I originally took a GMAT class with another company, and I didn’t receive the score I wanted. I wanted to improve my score more and find another company that didn’t treat me like another number. My friend recommended me to Sherpa Prep, and I couldn’t be happier that he did. Nafeez truly cares about his students, and he takes the time to ensure each student is successful. He has helped really simplified GMAT concepts for me, and I cannot thank him enough for that!

Sherpa Prep leads an excellent GRE prep course! It's a rigorous 8-week program with all the guidance, support material, homework, office hours, take-home quizzes/exams, and ad-hoc support you could ever desire. The course structure is exceptional - starting with the quantitative and qualitative foundations and quickly ramping up to cover all of the quant/qual topics that the GRE could potentially throw at you. All of the classes and complementary book sections include some of the most challenging concepts/questions tested on the GRE, so that students starting off with a strong base and aiming for 165+ can attain their goals. They also offer free office hours every Sunday for students to work through questions/concepts that they can't quite wrap their head around as well as majorly reduced one-on-one tutoring fees.
But most importantly, the instructors are AWESOME. Tae was by far one of the best teachers I've ever had (kindergarten - masters degree). He was super attentive, fun, challenging, and expertly organized and taught the information to a pretty diverse class. Tae was always responsive to queries outside class hours via email and phone, and took the time to review each student's error logs to provide tailored study programs and guidance on where to focus study efforts. I only had 8 weeks to study for the GRE, and Tae helped me increase my quant score by 12 points and qual score by 7 points.
Overall, highly highly recommend!

I cannot recommend Sherpa enough. Sherpa Prep is expensive, but definitely worth it. Taking their course raised my score by 10 points, 5 in quant and 5 in verbal, and made me more competitive for graduate school.
Erin was an awesome teacher and the classes were long, but very helpful. It helped that he probably knew none of us actually wanted to spend our Sundays there and he mixed a good amount of sarcasm and humor into the lessons, making them a whole lot better. While the class was well thought out and well taught, the books that they send you (for free with the purchase) are a diamond in the rough. The alternatives like Magoosh or Kaplan are people just droning on and you get bored very quickly.
With Sherpa's study guide and schedule, it is easy to break it up. They even break it down in to what kind of score you want (150-160, 160+, or aiming for a perfect score) to help you figure out what to study and how hard to study (easy, medium, difficult questions, and "will absolutely appear on the test" vs. "this only appears if you're aiming for a perfect score"). Overall the course is well worth the coin unless you're willing to shell out $2-3K for a personal tutor for the same amount of time.

I tried to study for the GRE myself and wasn't getting the scores I wanted. I chose Sherpa Prep because it was local, had convenient hours, and was cheaper than any of the other prep services out there. I am so glad that I took their 8-week course! They jumped my scores up several points in every category, helped me to target the areas I needed to work on (and some that I didn't realize I had a challenge with), and taught me tricks (especially with the quant/math section) that I still use in the "real world". Erin was my instructor and I highly recommend him! He understood this test inside and out, really knew all the methodologies, and was able to customize class to meet the students' needs (rather than teaching from a book as some other prep courses I've taken with other services do). If you want to master this test, Sherpa Prep (and Erin) are your best option in the DMV!

Sherpa Prep is a fantastic program. Each of the instructors I interacted with were eager to help, and passionate about the material. Classes are engaging, and the syllabus is easy to comprehend.
This program has made tackling the GMAT a much more enjoyable process.

Great results. The fact that Sherpa give you the opportunity to take the class twice, as well as continue to pick a number of classes to sit in on when you're done with the course means that you never fall through the cracks. Each teacher has a really distinct teaching style so it's kind of luck of the draw about who fits your teaching style based on your timing. I took the class twice after getting derailed on my studying the first time--my first class was 3 people and my second was almost 20. They are helpful and professional and most importantly, I got into my highest ranked business school!

Sherpa Prep breaks down the most daunting and critical test for b-school applicants in a way that only a world class instructor, mind, and mentor could. Even after long work days, the instructors keep you engaged and confident that with their guidance, you too can conquer the test. The skills acquired during this class have helped me gain confidence not only in the test taking realm but in the work realm.
One of the best classroom experiences I've ever had and the continued support once the class is over far exceeds the market expectations.

I could not speak more highly of Sherpa Prep. When I was considering Test Prep options, I did a fairly wide search, mostly consisting of the large national brands (rhyme with Maplan and Kanhattan). After not getting the sense that my experience would be personalized or attentive to a test-taker's needs, I found Sherpa. Dylan, my tutor, was extremely knowledgeable, but more importantly was a great teacher of the material. He offered mutliple explanations of the various concepts if students were having difficulty understanding, and ensured that everyone in the class had a balance of being challenged, but also digesting the information. The materials are excellent, especially the online video solutions for the problem sets, and Sherpa is very generous with the amount of out-of-session personal review time with tutors. Truly an amazing experience, and I have already referred friends and colleagues to their service. Thank you, Sherpa Prep!

I took a crack at the GMAT a year before starting with Sherpa. I began with Manhattan Prep and was left feeling inadequately prepared. The instructors made no attempt to get to know the students and tailor their approach or curriculum to each students subject weaknesses. I took another stab at exam prep with Sherpa. I couldn't have hoped for a better experience. Dylan quickly established himself as a teacher, mentor, therapist, and friend. He approached every students question with an earnest desire to understand where they went wrong on certain questions and problem sets. Happy to report that with Sherpa's help I was just accepted into Georgetown McDonough! Sherpa is bar none the best exam preparation out there at a fraction of the cost of the Manhattan's and Kaplan's of the world. Thank you!

My experience with Sherpa Prep was invaluable. I spent five months doing self-study with mainstream prep materials and took the exam twice, seeing only a ten point increase between attempts. I signed up for Sherpa Prep and could immediately recognize the difference between what the mainstream companies put out and the strategies that Sherpa's instructors teach. Definitely nothing you can find online or from any other resource I've found. They have a detailed process for improving your score and I'm a whole-hearted believer. I took the exam a four days after my last class and saw a 40 point improvement. If I wasn't working with a condensed application timeline and had spent longer following the post-class training plan, I'm sure my score would've been even higher. Overall, I have absolutely no regrets about the course and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn strategies to beat the test instead of just trying to memorize dozens of concepts.

Wonderful company with passionate people who are committed to pedagogy. It's rare to find a company that makes test prep humane and individualized in a group setting! I took a group class with Nafeez in the summer of 2018 and felt like I found a true coach in the process.
Nafeez knew the ins and outs of the problems and concepts but was able to identify what I needed to do to succeed on the exam - both on the learning and execution dimensions. The GMAT isn't about rote knowledge or deep study; it's about knowing how you react to the content and making the best use of your limited time with test prep. He runs a sharp business that inspires folks to do their best and enjoy the process as much as possible (let's be real, none of us would consider the GMAT fun). The tricks that Sherpa teaches you are the ones you won't find anywhere else, because they know how to "hack" the test and get you to think right and work your way out of picks in a strategic manner vs. just going with your gut.
All that is to say that the journey felt supportive and substantial. In terms of outcomes, I'd started off at a 700, with a rough 45Q and 40V split, and managed a 740 at the end (with a 49Q and 42V). Anyone who's familiar with the exam knows how tough it is to raise your quant score a few points, so I considered this a HUGE win and testament to Sherpa's method.
Thanks again to Nafeez and his team for building such a wonderful company and product. Worth every penny - and more.
