Worst bank I have ever dealt with. Will be cancelling all products with this company. They don't care about their customers at all. President's office is even more terrible. They don't take complaints seriously and don't care about customer satisfaction. They are just worried about their bottom line - make billions, even at the expense of their customers. I would be careful using this bank.

I"ve dealt with Scotiabank for 17 years.Business account, chequeing account, visa, rsp"s,the works. Then out of the blue they close all my accounts and tell me that Scotiabank doesn"t deal with businesses that sell cannabis.I own two smoke shops that sell gifts, rolling papers, lighters and pipes but have never sold cannabis. So after 17 years of the Scotiabank helping me import pipes and merchandise they turn around and accuse me of something that has now been legal for a couple years anyways. They give me one month to find another financial institution.Never felt so betrayed in all my banking years. They let me know right away that when I opened an account with them I signed a form that states they can close my accounts anytime for any reason. After my experience with Kelowna Scotiabank it"s obvious any bank is better than Scotiabank.

Worst online banking service I’ve ever experienced.
How are you so far behind everyone else!?
It’s a nightmare to just log on and check my balance, the info you require is outrageous when other banks only need face recognition to log in to your OWN account!!!
After years you’ve lost a customer.

Worst customer service experience I every had with a bank. It took almost 3 hours of my life to resolve an issue. Problem was with Scotia bank system and i almost spend 3 hours of my time to resolve the issue. CSR's are not knowledgeable enough and put me on hold after every five minutes.. Also trying to charge extra money from my credit card as interest charges.

Been with Scotia for 7 years. Today couldn't access my account, told to go to the branch. Went to branch told to phone security. Advised I could leave branch. Left branch, spent 50 minutes on hold, got through to security who would've give me their name and told me to go branch, and refused to say why I'm locked out of account. Goodbye... I will never be back.

Very bad experience. They seem to provide credit score service by trans union yet they cannot tell me why my score fell when I did nothing to cause it. They keep referring me to trans union and trans union refers me to scotia bank. Why provide a service when you do not know how it works!!!!

Online banking portal sucks!!!! It is a pain to log in. Many times you enter card number and password and then you get a blank white screen. This has happened to me consistently on five different laptops over the last several years, both at home and at work. Very frustrating!!!!!!!

Very bad customer service with Fraud department. Lack of people skills. Took 20 days to get in touch with fraud department to report theft of my card. Kept me on hold both days for very long time. Time to switch bank. Avoid Scotia bank.

Had to talk to over 12 people to solve my problem. The first 11 were super nice and said exactly what to hear....All lies and wrong information. Basically missed paying 3 bills because of the Wrong Information given.
Thanks scotia for being useless and causing me many problems, only because you said you would help, but actually couldn't.

STOP COLD CALLING OUR HOUSE!! We haven't answered their calls for months now and they keep calling. Why don't we answer and tell them we aren't interested? Tried that. Also asked to be taken off the call list. Didn't work. About to switch to another bank, this is borderline harassment.

The customer service reps on the phone are the absolute worst I have encountered with any bank . They seriously must have a book of set answers which they just keep repeating without actually being solve the problem . When I asked to be escalated to a supervisor she continued saying the same thing over and over and over saying “I try to explain “ when a customer asks to be escalated , move the call along as obviously the rep is unable to communicate or solve the problem on the phone . Very rude rep who would
Just not excavate they call , makes a customer very frustrated and to be honest you have probably just lost our whole family as customers .

Scotia isn’t my primary bank but I decided to get a credit card with them after getting a car loan with them with no issues. I made my very first credit card payment to them well in time, but was charged a $29 over limit fee. The first customer service agent I spoke to told me that the system would automatically remove the fee in a few days. The second customer service agent I spoke to initially told me she would remove the fee, then told me only part of it could be removed before proceeding to tell me that in fact she could not remove the fee. I then spoke to her supervisor who again told me the fee couldn’t be removed despite the fact I had paid on time and payments were posted both on my scotia accounts and the bank account I had paid from well before anything was due or further purchases made. So Scotiabank lost my business over a $29 fee that was inappropriate to begin with. I’ll be looking to take my loan elsewhere as well - definitely not worth the trouble when other institutions are happy to address issues like this reasonably.

I just called the Scotiabank phone banking line and had two of the best people to help me out with an issue. The first person was Nadia from Halifax, NS. So helpful and amazing customer service, She helped me out right away. Very cheery and was looking after my issue very fast and was painless. Thank you Nadia you are one in a million!!!
She then transferred me to Nicolas in Columbia, South America and he did the rest of what I was asking for to be done. Painless service and left the phone call feeling that everything was going to be looked after properly. Thank you to you both for making my day better and having amazing customer service skills.
Have a fantastic evening to you both !!!

I went at Scotia Bank in Jamaica Fair view Location to replace an expired debit card. My Experience was the worst just to replace a debit card, I have to stand in the Bank for 2 HOURS!!!!
Scotia Bank needs to put their Customer's first and stop acting like Customers are begging them to do their jobs!!! Some of the Tellers are very rude and talk a lot to their peers, Very unprofessional!!!

I received a link with a 100$ Amazon bonus upon approval for a Scotia Bank Credit Card and was accepted. I signed up for Scotia Bank online email notifications. I was asked to go to Branch to pick up and authenticate card. I decided to postpone in order to re-evaluate benefits. One month later I receive an email saying that I am overdue by 4 days for payment??? I called the 1-800 to ask how could I have charges on a card I never received nor authenticated, and am told that I signed up for paper statements ( even though I repeated several times that no I signed up for email notifications ) and they are usually late? When I asked to escalate issue, I was put on hold several times, and told it could take hours since EVERYONE WAS IN A MEETING. Not one Supervisor was available to explain how I could be charged for a card never received nor confirmed. And there is no contact on their website for complaints, just the usual 1-800's where no doubt I would be directed to another bozo. What kind of bank is this???

Scotiabank has always been willing to offer me credit and credit increase when I needed. Unlike some certain TD bank, Scotia's customer service has always been on point, even to the extend to spend 20 minutes on the phone just to help me figure out the requirements needed for my credit application so I don't have to go visit the branch.

I had to deal with an obnoxious condescending jerk at president's office at Scotia Bank. He keeps reminding me about policies and procedures while providing no empathy and no justification in delay of my money wire from my Lawyer's Scotia Account to old Scotia Bank Branch in Toronto at Castleknock. I have not banked at This branch over 3 years..This condescending, pompous unprofessional man continues rambling on and wasting valuable time and tells me that I will expect a 10 days business response regarding my complaint. Well this LIAR does not even respond in 30 days and has the nerve to thank me for my patience while the whole department is ON VACATION> Since when is LYING TO CUSTOMERS part of policies and procedures of Scotia Bank? Terrible Bank and the highest service charges of all banks... I frankly don't care if you are endorsed by CFIB( Canadian Federation of INDEPENDENT BUSINESS) Your service and services charges are substandard, excessive and completely ridiculous!! I have now moved an substantial amount of funds to the ROYAL BANK OF CANADA>>. They do not value or appreciate your business and treat you like a number.

I opened a chequing, savings account and a few credit products with my husband two years ago with Scotiabank. It has been nothing short of a nightmare to deal with them. The simplest task can not be completed correctly. They withdraw payments from your account without authorization. The misinformed staff are rude, and need attitude adjustments. Stay far away from the biggest crooks in the banking industry!!
