Generally, I like the site but I found it difficult to rebook the same sitter after my vacation but before I left a review.

I have used rover twice with the same sitter - once for a weekend and second time for a 2 weeks holiday. It was a house sitting service (staying at my place) to look after my puppy and 2 indoor cats. I went for the same sitter as she has done an alright job over the weekend and so she would already know my pets. During the stay she sent me occasional pictures of my puppy and they seemed to be having a good time. However, on return home i came back to a complete mess of a flat. As I came in, i saw that my clothes we all over the floor, stove covered in oil and tomato sauce, carpets haven't seen the hoover, bath covered in dirt, 4 empty toilet rolls between 2 bathrooms, used puppy pad with pee on it on the bathroom floor, empty vodka bottle in the kitchen. Every single window in the flat was open (i wouldn't be surprised it was because she wanted to get rid of the smell of weed, but that's just my guess) and one of my cats weren't there.
My husband called the sitter and according to him she sounded like she doesn't give a damn about it. As i started running around the area and posting about the lost cat in the neighborhood facebook group, i was approached by the neighbors who said that they figured we were away since the flat was loud and the sitter seemed to always have people over. I have no reason not to be believe them. Overall, the impression I got from the whole thing was that she enjoyed being paid to have a big flat all in central london all to herself and didn't are about anything else. I then decided to check sitter's instagram and seen some lovely pictures of her and her boyfriend (i'm guessing here) being cozy in my flat, especially I "liked" the picture of them sitting on the floor in front of the mirror with my dog and the guy having his hand in the sitter's bra.
I have contacted Rover straight away, who were very sympathetic about the missing cat and asked me send them pictures of the state of the flat, which i did. I asked them for refund, they refused. I had to use services of the Animal Search UK to help me find the cat which are very costly, so i asked Rover to compensate me for that, since they only reason my cat ran off is the sitter booked on their website. I had posters created and printed off by the Animal Search UK and had their pet search team come and look for my cat. This cost me about £2000. Note that the sitting service itself was £693. The only thing Rover agreed to compensate is about £260 pounds (cost of posters minus £250). Pretty useless customer service.
Of course I left a bed review for the sitter herself on Rover and then she contacted me directly calling me names, accusing me of taking bad care of my animals, saying she never had any people inside the flat and never had any alcohol there and that all the windows were open when she arrived. When i called her out on seeing the pictures on instagram and empty vodka bottle being literally on the kitchen counter (not even in the bin) and said that she seems like a pathological liar she got even madder and said that she wishes i never have children. Nice, right?
One important thing she said though was that rover contacted her, told her about my "accusations" but also told her that i provided no proof so they are not going to do anything about it. I have sent them the pictures and receipts from the animal search services and they confirmed that they got it. I contacted them again to ask for an explanation but there is no reply yet.
There is lost of writing so sorry if I made some typos as I am obviously being pretty emotional.

Our caretaker for our puppy is very loving and kind. She is also a groomer so she bathed her and cuts her nails. Her emails of photos and daily summaries are very comforting.

Iam so happy with rover.com the site tells a lot about the dog sitter. Gives me a choice to choose who can take care of my 2yr old rottie.

I don't know if Rover.com is paying for good reviews, or simply found a way to have the best ones show until you scroll way down, but; My best friend and buddy for life all but died yesterday while in the hands of an Rover.com participant while I was in surgery at the local VA hospital. I unfortunately had to leave the recovery early to find and tend to her. The poor thing still cannot walk this morning and I have already deleted the app. It is so nonfunctional anyway. Between sign in and touchscreen issues only found on Rover.com I give up. Kick this app to the curb and find a better one!

if i could give them less than 1 star i would. Rover talks a good game, but when there is an issue they want to wash their hands. i had a horrible experience. The agreement for a house sitter/dog watcher was not upheld. when I asked for my $ back (which they require you to pay through them upfront) i was told since all sitter are independent contractors i should call the sitter to TALK IT OUT. Really! I had to find someone else to watch my dog while I was already 500 miles away. Rover may be a great community if things go well- but they turn their back on you if there are issues.

Used this app twice, I like how the payments made, notifications and ability to leave a review. We found it very useful and will continue doing booking for our dog trough it.

I would not recommend this service because their practices as for responsibility they share in reimbursement for pet injuries and their claim to take care of any and all cost associated with pet injuries are false. They will not pay if your pet becomes injured by a ROVER pet while at a ROVER sitter. Please be advised they do not honor their policy to reimburse for cost associated and incurred for the injury of your pet caused by another Rover Pet while in the care of a ROVER Sitter. I had to pay when my 8 lb Pom was injured by a 70 lb beast/Shepherd. The injuries were severe! Thank God I could afford to pay for the cost and care of my pet because in the conversation with the ROVER TRUST REPRESENTATIVE they truly lied and mislead me to believe they were going to take care of all cost associated with the care of my pet. LIES! LIES! LIES!

My sitter is excellent! However, do not use their recurring booking option. EVER! There is something so shady about not being able to cancel when you want. I canceled in advance and still got charged the following week. And customer service pretty much told me they would keep it as is and just refund me the days I don’t use. Unacceptable. They don’t listen to their customers at all and drag things along for a quick buck. I don’t respect their business practices at all. Just make an arrangement with your sitter once found and pay day by day or weekly.

A sitter falsified her home details and allowed a cat to attack my bulldog while on leash, resulting in 15+ puncture wounds in the face, neck and arms. $224 in vet bills and a week off of work to care for my dog, Rover claims no liability and is allowing the sitter to continue to book clients, failing to protect animals from harm at the hands of negligent hosts. They will not conduct a review or suspend the account, nor are they willing to take any steps to rectify the issue with this particular sitters profile and advertisement of safe services. Neither the sitter or Rover have followed up regarding the health of my dog since I’ve taken her back home.
Rover promotes animal abuse for profits, I will not use the app in the future and will instead contact one of the good pet sitters directly to cut out any chance of Rover making money.
Terrible experience, a dog services company that condones violence and harm to animals - avoid at all costs.
