I started playing league of legends in SEASON 1... yes, that long. For a long time, i had nothing but great things to say about the game and the company. Then I started noticing patterns and glitches, and bugs. All of which NEVER got addressed by riot. There is still glitches and bugs in LoL that can be traced back to season 1. Riot doesnt care about their player base, because they need as many people as possible to increase their revenue. What kind of player they are doesnt matter to riot. The game is never balanced, any time a new champion comes out they are the strongest player in the universe.
The only time Riot will give you, the game, or the community, ANY acknowledgement, is if you play ranked. The entire game is based on ranked play, so if you dont play ranked, you are NOTHING to riot.
Anyone can try and say otherwise, but I have more experience with riot and their crap game than most anyone else.

League of Legends as a game is great. Riot as a company is pretty solid. I do find it funny how people are on here saying people never get banned yet other reviews are negative BECAUSE they got banned. There was also a review of someone wishing they could go afk without consequence...these people are the problem with the community, not Riot. It's easier to blame a company than it is to look at yourself honestly. Don't sit down to play LoL if you've only 25mins, you know matches take longer than that. I understand emergencies happen, and I also know there have been times where I've had to afk to emergency but it's been so very few and far between that Riot has never contacted me about it because it's happened maybe three times of the many years I've been playing this game. Riot has also released videos about not being toxic, ways to avoid getting angry and to give yourself time to relax from the game. Telling someone to stop being toxic can help but it isn't a solution, it doesnt stop that person from being toxic, it's up to that toxic person to stop being toxic. When a victim tells a bully to stop punching them, majority of the time the bully keeps punching the victim. It usually isn't until some kind of punishment is made, normally by a 3rd party i.e. teacher, government, or in this case Riot, etc that the bully/criminal stops their behavior. Maybe Riot could instead have multiple bans steps, like a one day ban to give the player a warning followed by a week ban, then a month, year ban, then permanent ban. With this system if someone does manage to get perma banned, they truly deserve to lose their account and not get any of their money back. Riot also introduced pinging so you can mute players and still communicate through pings and can mute pings if toxic ppl are spamming there too. My reason for giving Riot a 4 is because they should spend less time on making skins and champs, at least long enough to focus more on their client and work on the champs they already have. There was also that incident that I read about involving multiple Riot employees walking out due to harassment at the workplace although I don't know about it so I can't base too much of the review on that but it does prevent a 5 star review. In summary, Riot has done much more for the player community than they are given credit, even though they could do more for the game itself they are continuously improving and therefore gradually doing more making that criticism semi-redundant, and have made a game that is the main reason that esports has become as big as it is.

Before my 2 years break from the game due to personal reasons I used to be a very fanatic League of Legends player. I had several accounts, mainly EUNE and EUW. It has become my hobby to collect LOL skins and on my main account (EUNE) I have accumulated just under 700 skins, all in all I have invested around £4000 into this account. I used to play with a bunch of people and we always had banter and great times together. After few years of playing I was no longer able to continue and since this account has given me a lot of fun and great memories I decided to entrust it to a close friend of mine so that he could just carry on using it and drawing the same happiness I did. Prior to that moment my account was pristine - never banned not even a warning. I left the account in his hands and roughly after a year or year and a half I logged in to see how things are only to find it perma banned. My heart skipped the beat and I felt horribly disappointed as the only thing I ever requested in exchange for using my account was for him to make sure the account never gets banned. I have written to riot games lengthy emails explaining the situation in an honest and detailed way but they decided to never un-ban my account. They kept saying "rules are rules" etc but the truth is many streamers have had their accounts perma banned and the bans have been lifted. The point I'm trying to make is that they make up the rules to suit them. This account is worth to me a lot more than the money I've put in it yet they refuse to even negotiate with me, I would be happy to be punished in one way or another - as long as I could keep my skins of course. They would not budge, I have been polite with them and I myself am against toxic behaviour. I admit I should have never let anyone else on my account, mistake has been made on my part. In Riot Games eyes my mistake is worth £4000, in mine it is definitely not!!!! If anyone wants to play the game I would strongly suggest to not invest any money in this company whatsoever because when it comes down to it they will not only refuse to try and help you they will also rip you off!!!!
I will never go anywhere near Riot Games again and I will strongly discourage any one who ever mentions them to me to stay clear of them!

Weird company. This balance team is absolutely ridiculous. All champs are OP. As such, all my team feeders feed OP champs and the game goes south.

I used to play League of Legends about 5 years ago, and had played from season 2 until that point. Unfortunately I broke my PC and hit a rough patch so could not afford to replace or repair it. Recently I got to a point in which I could once again could afford a new laptop. So just last week I decided to download the game and try to play again- only to find that someone had gotten access to my account, used it, and got it permanently banned. I was livid and reach out to support to try and rectify the situation, to which they stated that they could do nothing to lift a ban. So our accounts can get hacked and used by other people, and then banned. I am upset because I had invested a lot of money and a lot of time on that account and definitely do not plan on doing that again. I had planned on becoming a loyal player again now that I was finally able to afford to play again, but unfortunately, will have to part ways with it. I am super disappointed and would definitely not recommend to use any service provided by this company ever again. Their customer service and empathy is completely lackluster.

Account got banned because it was hacked while I was at work, and the hacker was scripting. I contacted Riot support, and said that I could prove it was not me.
Their answer basically: It is your own fault somebody hacked you.
Just doesn't seem right, when you've used easily over 1000 Euro on the game. No sense of loyalty.

I got banned for writing "stfu" one time in one game, and when I went to support they completely disregarded my side of the matter and gave me an auto-bot response only concerning their policies. They then proceeded to completely shut down the ticket, leaving me with no options on retrieving my account which I've spent more than 1000£ on.

The LoL community is one of the most toxic ones in the world, and Riot is to blame for fueling this. While the game is good, the people that play it really aren't.

I've had my account and been loyale towards Riot for almost 6 years and in this period used over 800€ on hundreds of skins. Then suddenly Riot decides to permanently ban my account because of two words (noob & fgt) writen in chat to some annoying players!
I have never trolled or left a single game, my only "crime" according to Riot is that i have been a bit rough in the chat in some few games out of thousands over the years, where we all know the chat can be kinda toxic from all sides... If somebody is rude to you and you get provoked by it, then of course you might go answer them back - just like you would do in real life, right?
But no, Riot choose to permanently ban my account and not even giving me a chance to get it back nor give me my skins/money back or transfer them to another account... This should actually be a lawsuit worthy!! RIOT have actually STOLEN my digital property that i have payed REAL MONEY for! It's not like you can go buy something in a store and then the store employees decides to take the product back because they think the customer is a bit rude after they have payed for it!!! Riot employees and their ban-policy reminds me of a greedy dominant mafia-like company! #getrobbed #shitcompany #mafiabusiness #fuckriot

While DOTA is made for the more hardcore crowd, LoL made it more rookie friendly and it's definitively one of the most popular games arround.

League of Legends isn't necessarily a bad game, but it sure is a bad influence on people. Every time I come home from work I am locked out of my house because my stupid ignorant roommate left his keys in the door and is too "busy" playing lol and can't get off the computer to let me in. Most multiplayer game matches don't last up to an hour and have less issues if you go afk so its not an issue, but in league you pretty much have to be glued to the pc forever. And lets not forget about how small latency issues can turn a league player into a rabid frenzied maniac. Overall a terrible game for your mental health and everyone's around you.
