UPDATE: After a meeting with the animators and project manager (which they were late to), we came to an understanding and finished out the videos. I can't say it was a 4 or 5 stars experience. Their communication is okay, but I would encourage them to reach out and follow up with their clients because it feels like they don't care since they receive the money from the beginning. On the last bout of edits, it had been a week and a half since I had responded (really wanted to ensure this video was of good quality and had a lot of other projects simultaneously) and didn't hear a word from them. Would have loved for them to reach out just for a follow-up. It goes a long way and makes you feel like you matter. Unfortunately, if you're not willing to keep the ball rolling with consistent force, I wouldn't be confident that they would make sure the project keeps going.
They had big promises and under-delivered. They had sent over a test video of this really cool Tennis animation with amazing textures and wonderful camera work. Just to be sure, I had asked what they specifically had to do with that video, and they confirmed they did the animations and camera work.
So, I had a good feeling. We then pulled the trigger on two animations and were promised a 4-week deadline (that we had to pay extra for and all upfront).
It wasn't until the 4 weeks ended had I even received the first revision of the videos. So, they gave me a first draft, not a final vid, at the promise date of delivery. Not only that, but the quality was nowhere near their sample videos. Giving them 4 revisions and 3 more months to work on it and it still is just.... okay. Not great. Not stellar.
Communication was spotty. They would constantly say "within the week" or "next week" and would always be late (it would normally be the week after) so I had to consistently reach out to them to figure out where these videos were. It took them almost a full month (From 2/18 - 3/16) for a video to be revised. Yes, they had to do a lot of work on that revision, but it's only because they did not pay attention to the brief in the first place. It was a common problem where I would give them edits and I had to repeat myself so they would understand.
It takes a lot for me to leave a negative review and I wasn't harsh or mean during the process. I can say I will not be using Octa ever again, nor will I suggest them to anyone.

Overall, a good experience. Wish they would have spent some time with me on the phone before developing the script so they could have had a better understanding of what we were trying to accomplish. I ended up writing the script myself, for the most part. Also had some issues with our animated logo where they changed our font and it took multiples attempts for them to get it corrected. The final product was good.
