I never received my order, I wrote to them, they never responded, and I never got my money back. I wrote my account number in the email, and still, nothing.

Many years ago, I was hit with the perfect storm of circumstances which culminated in one of the most stressful time periods of my life. In an effort to distract myself, I went through a phase of fairly heavy "retail therapy" and discovered Modcloth. Wow! I instantly fell in love with everything about the site: the neat rows of adorably attired mannequins, the overall quirky and offbeat vibe, the fierce mutual loyalty between Modcloth itself and it's "community." And so many fun, unique facets to explore - Be The Buyer and design-a-dress competitions, the Style Gallery, New Arrivals (daily! same time, 9/noon!). I spent hours between classes, pouring over the pages.
It's terribly sad how far Modcloth has strayed from it's roots and the site I cherished dearly. In my estimation the change occurred well before the much-maligned buyout (which didn't bother me, business is business). The inventory shift towards more mainstream styles which tracking more with current trends is the biggest problem, for me. The new arrivals have slowed to a trickle and are completely uninspired. Really, pieces you could pick up almost anywhere, at any fast fashion store. The site overall has lost all of it's original charm and feels plainly generic, a word I'd have never used to describe Modcloth before.
And, I know many customers prefer to have models displaying the clothing but I miss the mannequins. Honestly so many reviewers back in the day submitted photos and/or included their own measurements there wasn't a need (item reviews aren't as prevalent now I've noticed). I'm also still annoyed to have lost all my original reviews/purchase history from over the years which could once be accessed on the app, but that's another story.
Not that any of this will bring back the site I knew and loved, but there has been no suitable replacement to fulfil my shopping desires in the way Modcloth once did (silly though that is). Modcloth was a stand-out shop, wholly original and loyal to its core customer base and now..it's not. There's nothing that Modcloth today brings to the table that other sites don't as well (off the top of my head, Unique Vintage is very similar, as is Top Vintage, based in Europe). I don't know what the rationale was behind overhauling the website back in February 2017 (and what a mess that was! some issues still were never fully resolved), but in my mind it served to not enhance and embrace Modcloth's specialness but rather to confirm the shift towards mainstream banality. And here we are. In 2019 I have made ZERO orders, despite multiple 40% or 50% sitewide coupons I've received. I would have killed for that discount 5 years ago!
It's probably too late now. But Modcloth could possibly revive their declining business IF they were courageous enough to take a good hard look at their roots, and pinpoint what made the shop thrive for the better part of a decade.

So I have ordered for about three years from Modcloth but they are getting ridiculous! The past 2 orders I have had items were "oversold" and I get a 10% off code. 10% doesnt make up for the hassle, Like I had a wedding to go to and I had to run around to find a replacement dress and its just really disappointing work on your stock for goodness sakes!!! I get my hopes up on a cute outfit and then nothing, I have spent alot of money on your site but if this is the best you can do I'm going else where!
**** Update*** my 10% off code doesnt even work .......... Is this the best you can do..... The items i bought during the 40% off sale are done and gone with and the code doesn't even work the one to make up for the fact you don't know your own stock!

I love looking at the Modcloth website on a regular basis because I think the clothes, shoes, and accessories they have available are always super duper cute. But the clothes and shoes are way too expensive and I could never justify spending $65 on a sweater or $100+ on a non-formal dress. The accessories are always super cute, unique, and affordable though.

Over 2 weeks later and Modcloth finally issued a return on my first order but instead of returning 2 items and initiating 1 exchange, they just returned all of my items. THEY CAN'T GET ANYTHING RIGHT AT THIS COMPANY. I'm not going to even deal with this exchange and take my money and run. Do not shop here!

Modcloth's business model is unorganized and ridiculous. My order sat in "processing" for an unusually long amount of time, so I decided to call and see what was up. Apparently my box had been pushed off to the side unlabeled and totally unaccounted for, and it took me CALLING to push things along. By the time I called, they apologized and said it was "unlike them" to lose an order like this, but tried to get together what they could after their negligence. By the time they finished locating my order, half of the items they had charged me for were no longer available. I have never had a shopping experience with so much negligence. The order is still super late, half missing, and the staff really couldn't care less. I haven't even received it yet, so honestly who knows what I'm in for. This company is just terrible.

It's a scam. The clothes arrive smelly, damaged, wrapped in cheap plastic and in none of the packaging you're used to from ModCloth. Worst of all, the clothes are shipped from the ModCloth Returns Department. They are deliberately misleading their loyal members by selling them previously worn/used clothing under the falsely-advertised trope of being an exclusive deal for a limited time. Never again.

I've seen ads for Modcloth for a long time. They definitely have very unique and cute clothing. I ordered a wallet and a bathrobe, which I was really excited to get. I paid $8 for shipping and then waited almost two weeks to receive my package. The items that arrived were a laughably low quality. The bathrobe was a cheap material, which came with loose stitching in several areas. The wallet was also made of a cheap material, came with dirt spots that stained the inside of the wallet, and loose threading in multiple areas. Both of these items are the exact quality I would expect from Walmart, but unfortunately, cost me about four times more money than Walmart items would have. I will not be buying from Modcloth again and would not recommend it to anybody. There are better, much more high quality online and brick and mortar stores out there.

I ordered from ModCloth the first time and they shipped the WRONG shoe SIZE. Upon receiving the order, I immediately contacted customer service regarding this issue. I received a response stating that my size was STILL IN STOCK and that they've shipped me the correct size. The following day, I received another email from Rachel, the customer care representative, stating that they again, made a mistake, and that my size was NOT available. Had ModCloth actually shipped the CORRECT SIZE initially, maybe it would not have run out of stock. To state that they still had my size and then retract that a day later added to the frustration.
The customer care rep stated that she can offer a 20% discount. 20%, really? I had a 15% off code as a new customer. That was not enough to quell my frustrations with them for their mistake. Additionally, they currently have a 30% dresses and sale items, but can't give me a 30% off due to their mistake. That is beyond me.
All I do is shop at online retailers, so I have plenty of experience with customer service. ModCloth does not care about keeping their customers satisfied. Stay away from this online retailer. I refuse to shop here ever again, even if they provide me with a 50% off code!
STAY AWAY!

I placed an order on a dress on june 10th and here we are june 20th still no dress. It took a full 3 days for it to actually ship. The order was placed during the week, so theres no excuse of even a weekend interfering. Its seemingly forever in transit. Its literally coming from two states away. Modcloth seems to be lost, where most websites I order from with equal quality and priced clothing offer FREE shipping on all orders, they still charge (quite a bit at that) for very slow service. $11 shipping on ONE dress that cost $24?? Thats criminal. And to add insult to injury its taking 2 weeks to get it. I used to love this site and order all the time but their shipping and prices have been really deterring that. After this dress is received, I'm sad to say theyve lost a decade long customer.

I really like many of their clothes, but they are over priced for what the quality. I just recently bought a few sale iteams and I wore the bathing suit once in a hot tun for about an hour and bam! Tore in the cleveage area. It is particularly annoying because I cannot return or exchange a status it is a sale item. I like the patterns styles and such, but the quality just isn't worth the risk for me.

I have purchased MANY items from Modcloth - most are quite overpriced, so I shop there almost exclusively during sales. Or sometimes I'm willing to pay the higher prices depending on the uniqueness of the clothing, since they do have a lot of items with really fun patterns and styles. For the most part, each time I have had an issue with them, everything has been resolved very quickly. However, I am a little disappointed in the quality at times. Also, more recently, I had a return for about 150$ worth of merch in my car which was stolen when my car was broken into. I reached out to Modcloth shortly after the memorial day sale I missed, hoping for a coupon promo code or something so I could place another order, and explained the situation of how my return package was stolen. I figured I had nothing to lose by asking, and while I didn't necessarily expect them to just hand over a coupon, I've been a customer for about a decade... they could have at least replied. I found this quite rude to just ignore me after I have bought so much from them, and it's definitely making me think twice about ordering again.

I placed an order on Memorial Day. My order still says it's processing and it's been five business days. It has not shipped and when I asked them they informed me they didn't know when it would ship.

I must review them because of their high quality and excellent product. I just got A-Line Dress. The best thing is that it has high quality fabric with affordable price and seller has sent me the exact same product that was shown in the website.
Thanks for providing a quality product.

I want to start this review by saying I've never had a problem with any ModCloth products once they have arrived- however, that's were the good news ends. I've been shopping with ModCloth for years now and every year the shipping gets worse. It never delivers on time so if you ever need an item for an exact day I'd add at least a day or two to the estimated delivery (once it actually gets out of processing hell that is). This time they didn't even bother to bring my package to the office or my apartment. I'm lucky that I have kind neighbors that took the time to come find me otherwise after 9 days I still would be wondering what in the world was going on and fighting with customer service. I know that a lot of this has to do with the carrier provider selected for deliveries but this is truly disappointing from how things were run 5 years ago. Still plan to continue shopping here but I do hope that something is done about the shipping process eventually.
Otherwise the products are still cute and unique and overall fairly good quality with a few outliers.

I read a lot of reviews and mostly were horrible and I still ordered 3dresses and 2pair of shoes. Glad I did. Love the way dress fit and shoes were surprisingly very comfortable. I got my delivery within 5 days.

I ordered a metal belt, which arrived with two giant kinks in it, plus there was no way to even clasp it shut. It was very obviously defective. So I returned it with the shipping label included in the box for returns and made sure to note on there why I was returning. They then refunded only the price of the item and I had to call and fight with them to get the shipping refunded as well. After I wrote a review saying all of that, they emailed me and said that they do not post reviews about items delivered in less than satisfactory condition. That is completely dishonest, and I will never shop there again. Companies should not be able to just choose to not share bad reviews.

I bought a dress from this company several years ago and was quite pleased. I recently purchased 4 tops and a pair of shoes. The tops were all size L. I take a M or L. They were way too small especially in the bust. Cheaply made. Not cut right. Made in China. The shoes were so cute but I would rather have wooden shoes. They had no give. No arch at all. Felt like starched cardboard. The styles are unique but are probably made by child labor. Never again unless they can prove some sort of quality to their clothing.

Was bummed when they got bought by Walmart, but their selection has not gone down in value or quality from what I can tell. I do still love their skirts.

Yet again inflated prices for double digit sizes and sub-par quality. I will say that the styles and options at Mod put them above other plus size online retainers

I purchased a huge wool coat and a few other items. I only bought the coat bc I saw that they offer free returns. When the items came, the coat was HUGE. It is not at all what I expected. In the box was a fedex return label. I called customer service bc where I live, there is no fedex drop off aside from drop boxes, and this is a HUGE box. She said that within 24 hours the warehouse would be emailing me a usps label. It never came. Two days later, after emailing to say never receiveced, someone emailed me the "label" only when I opened their attachment, it just took me to their website about how to return via fedex. So now it appears that I am going to have to pay over 20 to send back this item due to their apparently being unable to provide a return label that I can use. It is a shame because they have some really cute clothes. I was hoping this would be a long-term relationship, but that cannot happen now. Had I known I would have to pay the large shipping price for the coat, I would never have taken the chance. I emailed the csr back and said that the attachment didn't work, but I am very doubtful that I will ever get my usps label from Modcloth. So unless my item will fit in a fedex drop box, I cannot order there again. Not worth the additional expense and all the trouble.

I ordered a gift for my daughter. i paid extra to have it shipped in 2 -3 days so it would arrive in time for her birthday. When I went to check on the status online, it said the page wasn't available. I had to wait for Chat for 45 minutes. The agent told me it hadn't shipped yet and that the shipping time was different than the processing time. There is no way to track the packages. I too wish I had read the reviews first. I won't do business there again.

I was wondering why my order wasn't shipping, googled "ModCloth shipping taking forever" and landed here. Looks like I'm in good company. Good luck, friends!
Bless the poor woman whose job it is to respond to all of these reviews. I know it's not her fault. But ModCloth, c'mon. This isn't your first rodeo. Blaming this shipping debacle on the (annual and predictably busy) holiday season is pretty ridiculous at this point. Just admit "we [email protected]#*&ed up" and get better.
