It was an amazing tour with this company, because of them I spent unforgettable moments in Egypt.
I discovered new places and activities I can do in Egypt.
I just want to thank Memphis Tours.

am really sorry I need to leave this review here. I am a legitimate traveler, with no axe to grind outside of what fraud was dispelled on me by this firm, and then subsequently my friends as well. I say I am sorry to write this review, because we had a good experience touring with this company. HOWEVER, through out the touring of the amazing sites of Cairo, time after time again, we were brought to "prescribed shopping" trips. We did not come to Egypt to go shopping, and even though I protesting just about every one of these stops, we were brought to the linen store, the papyrus store, the perfume store, the rug making school, and finally the "jewelry store". At all of these stops, we were told time and time again by our tour guide, these are "trusted stores", "government stores", where we could be assured and "trust the quality" "we promise". What utter nonsense!
It being around the time of our anniversary, we decided maybe it would be a nice time to get something for my wife. At this "jewelry store" we were shown a wide selection of, to the eye, very pretty "semi precious gems" that again, we could be "assured of the quality and authenticity" by the staff of Memphis Tours. (I am going to come back to this point, time and time again. It was the STAFF of Memphis tours, taking us to these stores and telling us to trust the quality being presented to us.)
After some looking around my wife picked out a rather large, "amethyst". Which we were informed was $500. To our untrained eye, this seemed like a great deal, for a stone so large. And yes, I well admit, our own ignorance is at fault here. However, being told time and time again that we could trust this store, we decided to go ahead with the purchase. As I was paying and checking out, boy oh boy, it felt really REALLY wrong to me. The way the people ringing us out were looking at us, I really felt like something was up, and I seriously am irritated at myself for not listening to my gut. However, not wanting to disappoint we paid up.
Upon coming home, we got an email from Memphis tours asking how our trip was, which I still have a copy of. And to which I replied that we enjoyed the touring very much so, and however the shopping a little less so. And that we had not come to Egypt to go shopping. Again, I was met with the response that we were only taken to reputable "Government stores", and they were just trying to give us a full experience, because many people enjoy the shopping.
We were talking up our experiences so much to friends and family, a couple very close to us, took us on our recommendation, booked a trip to Egypt and specifically with Memphis tours.
Imagine! They too were taken to "government and trusted stores" by Memphis. They too were taken to a "Jewelry Store", and as much as it pains me to say, after inspection by a certified gemologist here in San Francisco, who we are happy to provide a report from, they too were TAKEN!
I'm sure you figured it out by now, but the stones we all were sold, were fake and worthless junk. Being totally ignorant in these matters, if I had gone out on my own, in the souk and bought these stones, and had been ripped off, I would have no one to blame but myself. HOWEVER, the staff at Memphis Tours, INSISTED we could "trust the authenticity and quality" we were being sold. We were fed this line time and time again, and so yes, I refuse to accept responsibly for my ignorance in this case. And worse yet, after recommending friends, they TOO were ripped off by this (I'm sure kick back filled) same fraud.
It's really such a shame. We feel so duped by these people. And I am sure, people touring with them are getting ripped off, in the same way on a daily basis. We so trusted the reviews we saw here on TripAdvisor. I can only imagine many people just don't bother to have their purchases inspected when they return home, or don't care. I don't know. But it's really the principal of the matter here, that's at fault. Worse yet, we both tipped our tour guide and drivers very well, and we feel totally deceived and taken advantage of by the whole thing.
I hope people will heed this warning. I've never typed such an awful review of any tour company. And I hope I never will have to again.
We have contacted Memphis tours, and they refuse to respond. This is beyond ridiculous and I will not stop complaining about it, until we get some sort of response.

We went to Wadi Shab in Oman and we were completely ripped off. We paid £300 for 3 people, and trips are generally about £150. They said that entrances to all sites were included, yet none of the sites needed an entrance fee, the wadi shab was £2pp to cross the river to the wadi, THATS IT. They said lunch was provided, we got a cheese sandwich, boiling hot hummus and Arabic bread. The food was left out in the sun FOR HOURS. Our guide also only provided us with ONE 500 ml of water each, mind you it’s 36° with 80% humidity. They made us walk at midday when the sun was the hottest. Not a very thoughtful company. Quite a rip off.

Booked a 4 hour guided tour of Aqaba/Jordan with MemphisTours (not sure who the local provider was).
It was supposed to be an englishspeaking driver, and allthough very friendly and helpful, he did not know anything about Aqaba. He told me he was from Amman.
According to the Itinerary:
Enjoy Aqaba City tour during your stay in Aqaba. Your tour driver will pick you up from your hotel in Aqaba to enjoy a remarkable Aqaba Tour, Jordan, visiting the Aqaba Mamluk Fortress and Aqaba Museum. Then you can visit the Aqaba Aquarium at the Marine Science Station Complex, to see colorful shoals of beautiful fish.
All I got to see was the Aqarium!!
I have no complaints about the driver who did his best, but what a disapointing city tour- which was not a city tour at all- I learned nothing about Aqaba...I do not recommend others to waste their money on this tour...

Terrific service and trip but I didn’t like the high pressure expensive shops they took us to, the outrageous cost for drinks and the constant tipping of everyone and everything! Also, they want me to write a review then submit it for review to one of their tour guides for approval.
That won’t happen!!!!

Very impressed overall with our Memphis Tours experience and the quality of some of the staff was standout, from Mustafa who dealt with all my questions prior to the trip, to Mohamed Essam in Cairo and Ahmed El Hamed in Cairo. Highly recommended!

Memphis Tours of Egypt's staff are great. Our guide was so fabulous, we still talk about her. The staff were organized, knew where we had to be and when, and prepared us for every variable. They treated us like we were the most important people in the world.
