I am at this time in the melia Salinas lanzarote. Earlier this year I stayed at the melia 5*cape verdi. Unfortunately Salinas does not come up to the same standard. Having to cross a busy road with suite cases then dragging them up the external stairs with health problems, then requsted to pay a €50 deposit, then left to find room without assistance This is a completely different experience from Cape Verdi. Then to be told it had lost its 5* by another guest but not aware before I arrived.

Melia Palma Bay
We had a great experience. A modern hotel with excellent friendly staff , always willing to assist. Food was very good and rooms kept very clean and up to date. Only slight disappointment is the poolside - not enough sun loungers and they are very uncomfortable. Otherwise brilliant stay and we will be back

Outstanding clean rooms and grounds, very well laid out catering for everybody's needs. The staff were excellent, read some not so great reviews on here about other hotels but I can say this one is definitely one I would recommend! Will definitely be coming back here, thank you for a great holiday!

I have recently returned from 5 days at the Melia south beach hotel which was previously just the ME hotel where I have stayed there numerous times as we genuinely did enjoy it. But that has all changed due to the fact the Melia South Beach does not take RACISM serious enough and I now question the hotels integrity.
On Monday 19th August me and my friend was approached by a very aggressive man that accused us of taking his towels of the bed which was not the case at all. He apparently (as mentioned by other guests that he had the towels on a bed and a lady came along and took the towels) so because there was no towels on the bed my friend put mine and hers on the sun beds.
The man then came over leaning on our beds being very aggressive and threatening saying we took his bed. We told him we hadn’t taken his towels and that the bed was free when we took the beds and he should take it up with the staff, he then proceeded to say ‘people like you are disgusting, do you know what you are (whilst looking us up and down) you are both MONKEYS, disgusting MONKEYS’
We were both so shocked and as two young mixed raced girls we have never ever been treated like this. I have never been so disgusted so screamed at him that he was a ‘disgusting racist’ and ‘how dare he speak to us like that’. He then ran into the hotel and then other guests got up to see if we were ok including 2 couples or were appalled and followed us in the hotel to get security and management, the lovely couples also told security and management they are willing to be witnesses.
It was only until management were pushed into a corner they agreed to look at cctv. The man was wearing very vibrant colour swim shorts but yet they could not find him on CCTV which I find very very hard to believe.
When I told security and management what had been said management looked at me to say ‘and’ and I felt like it wasn’t taken serious at all. We said we wanted him out when he’s found and the manageress said ‘no we cannot do that’ without no explanation as to why. Myself and the other guests agreed that the police should be called as it was very clear hotel management did not care and want to deal with this situation. We was told by management ‘but you’re not hurt are you’ . Just because I’m not physically hurt I am emotionally hurt and regardless RACISM is a crime! Police came where we explained what happened and said yes it was a crime and yes it was illegal however when we went to the police station we were told to press charges we would need our own lawyer. The police also said the hotel can remove him but it’s up to there discretion, so when asked a third time that when he is found and is a guest of the hotel to remove him ,management once again said it’s not that easy and I want to talk to him first . We then said he’s going to say no of course so management said ‘there’s not much we can do then’ , the four witnesses then proceeded to say yes there something you can do as you have witnesses.
I understand hotels cannot control who they have in there hotels but if two young girls in there 20s are experiencing racism and are worried what is going to happen next then management should be ready to look into it more . It is very evident that racism at the Melia South Beach is NOT taken seriously. When the police has left we were left feeling worried and quite frankly scared as he was very aggressive to us to the point he looked like he wanted to hit us. He also had friends in the hotel. Although they couldn’t find him, myself and my friend didn’t leave each-others sides as who knows what he was ready to do next? We have spent a lot of money at the Melia when it was the ME brand in the past four years in Mallorca, but it’s clear to say I will not be back and your clientele has definitely changed since changing to Melia. If this is your hotels policy to accept racism and move on then I want nothing to do with the Melia brand and I will be taking this further. It’s very clear your management and the brand need training on how to deal with a criminal offense regardless if it’s physical abuse or racial abuse.

I am giving this company a bad review based on their customer services. It takes them 2 weeks to reply to an email and even then there is no way to respond to whatever they have replied with. You have to open a new case for every single email response. They are extremely unhelpful and I still haven’t resolved my complaint from May 2019. My last email they completely ignored.
A shame really as the booking line staff are fantastic and so helpful.

Money grabbing company ! Booked a hotel in Berlin for end of October, my husband has had to have an emergency operation and we can’t fly out. They totally refuse to refund us including taxes. No morals, no sympathy. We paid over £500 for 4 days and no refund or even an offer of a partial refund. We have hospital letters etc. Think it’s pretty disgusting to have to pay for something we haven’t received and Have given them a months notice. They even had the audacity to ask if they could cancel the booking presumably to book the room out to someone else. Will never book with them again

Am currently a guest at the Melia Sol Pelicanos, Benidorm and whilst the Hotel has a perfect location I have only given it 2 Stars mainly for the food and drink. I am a veggie and the food in the evening is somewhat missing in protein and I was also surprised when I was asked to pay €2 for a bottle of water, we could not get a glass of tap water. Having paid close on €1000 for half board I was totally shocked that in this day and age in an EU country water wasn't freely available with an evening meal.

It really is with great regret that I have to write this review after giving the Melia Palma Marina Hotel management ample time to respond to my complaint, reimburse me with my loses and also reply to my questions in relation to Hotel Security!
This was meant to be a holiday for myself and my daughter who is only 14 to relax and enjoy but it most certainly wasn’t!
We checked in on the 11th of August for 14 nights but on the 22nd of August things dramatically changed.
Facts of the incident!
1. Our room was entered illegally by a thief (approximately 14.52 Hours) supposedly using one our key cards! (According to the Hotel records) Which was impossible as at that particular time we were both on the sun terrace by the pool? Both key cards were in my possession! The key cards never left our sides the entire stay! (It’s important to note that I returned to the room to drop off towels etc. at approximately 15.30 Hours then left the Hotel for a walk, so the window of opportunity for the theft was just over 30 minutes)
2. So during this 30 minute period the thief called reception telling them that the safe wouldn’t open! The Hotel then dispatched the Safe Technician to the room to open up the safe with a master code!
3. Now here is the good bit! At no point in time did the Hotel formally identify the person in the room as me or my daughter. (Zero Security Questions)
4. Normally a Hotel would request that you come to reception and identify yourself. Or the Technician should have asked for identification!
5. The thief also reprogrammed the safe with a different code so when I tried to get into the safe a little later (Approximately 16.45 Hours) I had to call for a Technician. (Oh by the way they didn’t ask me for any identification either!)
6. Upon opening the safe I established that money had been taken from my wallet and a valuable watch had been taken.
7. I immediately went down to reception and asked to see the manager.
8. The Technician had left for the day and was called back into work.
9. It was established in my opinion that the thief spoke Spanish when he called reception for the Technician! Also the Technician wasn’t sure if it was me in the room that let him in? Very strange that he wouldn’t know if it was me or not as I am 6ft 3inches and maybe only two hours had passed??
10. Obviously I said ok let’s look at the CCTV in the corridor to see who exactly entered my room?
11. HOTEL RESPONSE “WE DON’T HAVE CCTV IN THE CORRIDORS”??
12. Ok let’s look at the CCTV in the lift or in the corridor where you exit the lift?
13. HOTEL RESPONSE “WE DON’T HAVE CCTV IN THE LIFT OR IN THE CORRIDOR WHEN YOU EXIT THE LIFT”??
14. Ok please look at the CCTV for the Terrace and Pool area! Then it will prove where I was!
15. HOTEL RESPONSE “WE DON’T HAVE CCTV IN THOSE AREAS EITHER”??
16. I asked why and they said it was either against the law or company policy! I asked Palma Police and they said that that statement was not true. It’s not illegal!
17. Obviously the Police were called and I then had to report it again the following morning at Palma Police HQ. I then gave the Hotel a copy of the crime report which in hindsight I shouldn’t have really.
So ask yourself would a thief really enter a room then call reception to open the safe and wait patiently (Bearing in mind the response time for a Technician may be up to 15+ minutes). The thief would then obviously be identified by the Technician. This makes absolutely no sense at all and whatever happened in my room was planned and calculated with inside help of some sort (In my humble opinion and everyone else I have told). Lack of CCTV is also very questionable. Something is not right here!!
Unfortunately the Hotel is denying all liability and their Insurance Assessor is telling me that because of the facts provided to them by the Hotel they will not reimburse me with my losses.
I asked what the facts were and they tell me I have to apply to the Palma Courts to obtain them which has a fee associated to it. Then I have to take legal action which will cost more than my losses and there is no guarantee that if I win legally I will be awarded court costs!
I have asked the Hotel numerous questions regarding Security and Safety of their guests and they will not comment!
Thank god my daughter who is 14 didn’t return to the room when the thief was there as anything could have happened! This incident could have been completely different!
So would you want to stay in a Hotel like this?
Zero Security (Apart from the reception area)? Anything can happen and the Melia International Group doesn’t give a toss about your safety or your belongings!
To date I have had nothing in writing from the Hotel apart from the comment “it’s a Police and Insurance matter”.
The Insurance Assessor has simply told me the case is closed!
I will never step foot in a Melia Hotel International Hotel again and if I was you I would carefully consider your options based upon this review!
PS I would be glad to hear the comments from the CEO # Gabriel Escarrer Jaume # if he ever hears of this! If he wants to contact me then the Hotel can provide him with my details!
Finally I would just like to state that my job involves International travel and I have an occupancy rate of maybe 140 nights per annum in hotels. I have never been treated like this in my life or made any claims for losses such as these. I am also a Platinum member of two other International Hotel Chains.
“It’s your choice if you want to stay here or in any of the other group Hotels!”
“But do so at your own risk because the Melia Group doesn’t take your welfare or safety seriously!”
“Then does everything in its power to deny liability!”
Please note I have documented evidence and emails to back up this awful review!

The paying public should know about the Sol Guadalmar in Malaga & any trusting disabled person.
We are on a week’s stay and the horrendous events don’t cease.
This place has very large groups of apparently Chinese guests who make terrible noise late at night & early morning, something to do with “Stop -Overs”, but they completely take -over all public areas with no respect or regard for the other guests. The noise just from the case wheels along the marble floors is unbelievable!
We are in one of the three disabled rooms, and they are all unfit for purpose. The security rails have no stability at all. In fact such a rail which moves from side to side gives a false sense of security. They must be forty years old!
We have been here only three days and now on three occasions the door lock has failed, I’m told because they are so old!

We have used Melia hotels before, but we strongly advise against using Sol Principe in Torremolinos.
On our second night there, strangers suddenly came into our room apparently using keycard given to them by the reception (night shift receptionist).
Fortunately, we were two adults in the room to push them out, and our daughter slept from the episode.
The next day we approached the hotel manager, who we felt was passive in relation to the episode. He regretted briefly, saying that he did not understand how it had happened, but did nothing further.
Our experience was furthermore that the poolarea was dirty, and the cleaning was deficient in both common areas and the room.
We can NOT recommend this hotel for a save or familyfriendly vacation.

The hotel has bed bugs, when you ask to change rooms front desk says they are mosquitos bites and you stay in the same room. If you use laundry services make sure you do it wit 48 hours in advance, they are not reliable and they will charge you the laundry fee even if they give you your clothes wet. Front desk will not waive the fee because there is no management available. Make sure you have plenty of water bottles when you take a shower since you can run out of water in the middle if the shower and it make take them an hour to come back. Make sure you have download movies on your phone e because you can stay without TV for a day or two. Reservations for their restaurants are very difficult to make since they are always full.

Melia Benidorm, I have read previous comments regarding this hotel , on the whole it was a nice hotel , good food and friendly staff. Unfortunately our room was flooded at 1 am in the morning , we were rushed into a new room , we didn’t notice until we got home that several items were missing , probably due to being rushed out . My wife’s travelling outfit was sodden as were slippers underwear . We weren’t contacted by the hotel to discuss this , as such has left a sour taste. But don’t be put off this hotel , on the whole it was well worth the cost , and I would go back , better luck next time

Been scammed more than 1200€
I cancelled a prepaid booking because my son of 2yo had a chest infection and obviously could not travel anywhere.
I contacted the hotel to explain and sent them the hospital certificate as per their request, and they simply and coldly replied that no refund will be granted at all. I just lost 1200€ and no one to talk to.
What a shame for such a chain. I will never ever again book in any of their hotel in the world despite i was Melia reward customer for more than 6 years .

THE WORST EVER ! AVOID
DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. How on earth can this hotel management and hotel be part of the Melia brand? The customer service standards are just way below any acceptable level.
Who on earth trained the management and reservations staff on customer care?? The most abysmal service ever experienced at any hotel or restaurant in 40 years of worldwide travel. Someone from The Melia Brand / Head Office should make a trip to the hotel and investigate the management for their terrible customer service and care. We will never book a Melia brand hotel ever again because of our experience with this hotel.

Avoid The Melia Benidorm;
- The staff are rude
- The food is shockingly bad
- air conditioning did not work but they were happy to advertise that you get it.
- the only time they talk to you is if they want more money from you
- Poor entertainment (violin man in reception, thats it)
- bad customer service
I’ve stayed in benidorm 15 times and i have absolutely no idea how they have been awarded 4 stars....

Club Melia is a “vacation club” that sales people dreams that will never be reality, because it is all lies. They get you into a room and tell you so mant lies, break out the calculators and what I believe to be other people who are paid to tell you that they are in the “club” and how much they enjoy it. Well I am here to tell you DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE!
The sales people come off as very friendly and trustworthy, if my memory serve me correct I beleive my person was Sam at Paradisus Playa del Carmen. I was 8 months pregnant, with my husband and our two girls when we fail victim to this scheme. It was our first time traveling as a family and ouf course we wanted to do it more often. Who wouldn’t, but only if we knew what we know now.
They call your room and disturb what is supposed to be peaceful and lure you into about a 3 hour sales pitch which should have only taken 30 mins...first warning! I will go into great detail this nightmare and hopes of deterring anyone who is approaced by these crooks, and yes they are crooks as they are selling you something that has no value.
They seek out a special type of guest and as you see other posts you will notice that they seek out people with children and hold you “hostage” for hours while one of their employees plays with your children. Yes, we agreed to what was being said to us trusting the individual that we were dealing with and yes we asked questions only to be told lies. Yes, there was a “lawyer” there, their lawyer, but she was also made to manipulate us. I have contacted them many times trying to get out of this contract and after paying almost 10K they refuse to let us out. Let me explain, for example the all inclusive package at resort A is $100 per adult and $50 per child and I have the documents to back this up, which I am more than happy to share and explain to anyone who thinks they want to try this, PLEASE DO NOT DO IT, save yourself the agony. Anyway back to my example so my family two adults and three children. For a four day vacation at resort A just for the all inclusive that is going to cost us $1,400 for this vacation not to mention the bi-annual maintenance fee (that is now $632 from $500) that increased after we were told that it never would, so that is totalling $2,032 for this three day vacation. Now, back to resort A, if I were to go on melia.com and book this resort through their site the cost would come out to $998.32 at the Paradisus Cancun...so why in te HELL are we paying $1033.68 more than anywho else who could just go straight to the site. Not to mention the already $9700.00 we out in!! Ridiculous and does not make any sense.
Just as a previos post I will list the lies that we were told for you:
1) We were told that the all-inclusive would be included, as you can see above that is a lie, You have to pay for it. Yes, they sit there and do some made up math to make you think that you are saving and you are not!
2) They said that we could push our points to an off year but failed to mention that we would have to pay all of these fees and additional maintenance fees to do so. We could never push them two years ahead so that we could get 28,000 points, which is what we were told. Thanks for lieing to us Sam!
3) When you are in that meeting they show you all of these elaborate places you can travle to, but fail to mention that you can’t get there on the lies that they are selling. Because nowhere worth going to is anyone able to afford if you are trying to go through the club, you will end up paying way more than if you just booked it through the place.
4) We were shown a website or computer program on their machine where according to them we would be able to browse availability and book vacations ourselves. This is not true. Such tool does not exist on the Club Melia members website, not anywhere else. To learn about how many points are necessary for different stays at different hotels, availability and book a vacation we need to spend hours on the phone with a customer assistant. We were never provided with a table or have any sort of access to how many options are needed for each hotel. (This is the same lie that was told to us and this exact post is from another victim)
Bottom line is anyway you look at this, they are getting way over. It is amazing that people can look at themselves in the mirror knowing that they are misleading people who want to experience life adn take their families on vacation.
I know you all are probably saying, how stupid are you, and yes we were very stupid to believe any of these lies and I am hoping that my story will stop others from falling into this trap. Below are some more details that we too were told, that I copied from another post, but yes we were told these same things only with different values, but believe the person below is telling the truth because I have lived it.
CLUB MELIA GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK!!!!
All these high pressure, lies and unethical tactics to get us to sign and bind by their contract is because being a Club Melia member is simply a way to hand out thousands of dollars to Melia in exchange of absolutely nothing. Let me give you a few examples in order for you to understand.
First, let me explain what is our investment on the club. Our contract is in the amount of $12,500 in exchange for 1 week stay every odd year in a 1 master bedroom unit during Gold season at the Melia Caribe Tropical, in the form of 31,000 options which can be used to other hotels that are part of the club, or transferred to Melia Rewards or RCI. The contract is for 50 years or 25 weeks, which one comes first. We financed most of this amount, but I won't consider our particular situation in this math, since this will vary and should not affect what is being offered by Club Melia. In the scenario that we paid this principal in full, our investment is of $500 per week of vacation. On top of the principal, we must pay a annual maintenance fee, which currently is of $905 total. This makes our investment through the Club Melia for these 31,000 options of $1,405. Now, let me give a couple examples of options for vacations that have been offered to us by the vacation specialist over the phone:
A) we were offered 6 nights between 11/05/16 and 11/11/16 at The Reserve at Paradisus in Punta Cana for 28,500 options. Since all-inclusive is not included, we would have to pay the fee at the hotel, which is $97/adult/day and $49/child/day. The total that we would have to pay at the hotel for our family for this stay is $2,044. The Melia.com website offers us the same stay at the same hotel for all members of our family with the all-inclusive for $1,856.48, plus at the moment $1,100 of resort credit.
B) we were offered the option to pay $51 and convert to 139,500 Melia Rewards options. Now my investment is of $1405 plus $51, $1,456. However, the Club Melia vacation specialist on the phone said I would only be able to book one or two nights at most with this amount of points at any other Melia hotel. So let's say I could book two nights in Paris. Melia.com offers me a room for my family for a total of $466.24 for two nights, plus at the moment 20 euros per night to spend at the hotel.
C) we were offered the option to transfer the points into RCI, paying a fee of $250. Now my investment is of $1,405 plus $250, $1,655. I had to call a different number to learn what my options on RCI were. The customer assistant named Suzy gave me an option to stay for one week at the hotel Panolo Green in Hawaii. This same stay costs $971.74 if booked on Expedia. But wait! Actually I would need 55,000 options in order to book this, so I would have to "accelerate" another year, 31,000 more paying another fee of $884.5 to do so. Now my investment through the Club Melia is of $2,539.5 for a hotel that I could book on Expedia for $971.74
These are only a few examples, but the fact is that any way we try, we always, invariably are loosing a lot of money by being members of Club Melia. This is for our first year trying to use our first options, now multiply this loss by 25 years and you can clearly see how much of a scam Club Melia is! We were given a one week stay at a resort of our choice as incentive to sign the contract right away during their sales pitch, and we took this vacation in 2015 with a family friends. We had to pay at the hotel for the all-inclusive practically the same amount our friends had paid for the full of their stay there, so our "free" stay was actually worth close to nothing. This should have been enough for us to understand how much of a bad deal being a Club Melia is, but because said week was "free" we tried to relax and enjoy our days there instead of feeling upset. We should have tried booking another vacation and made this math back then, so we would have learned sooner how much of a scam Club Melia is!

Melia Jardines Del Rey Cayo Coco Cuba
AirTransat vacation package.
We have had six two-week vacations with Air Transat through Sell Off Vacations, three to Melia Cayo Santa Maria and three to Melia Jardines Del Ray.
The most recent to Melia Jardines Del Ray was Nov. 16th through Nov. 29th 2018. All have been excellent with the exception of this last one.
The food quality was very poor.
In fact I find it disgusting that anyone could provide such contaminated and badly prepared food for their guests.
Needles to say we ate very little also we had no ice cubes in anything that we drank.
And only used bottled water for cleaning our teeth as the water from the mains is contaminated due to lack of good water treatment.
The hallways had dirty dishes with old food on them for days on end and was covered in flies.
My wife has been suffering with diarreah and stomach pains for at least ten days of this vacation and I myself for at least eight days. This problem showed up after only one day and continued on throughout the 14 days that we were there although we took Bepto Bismol and Baking Soda to try to counteract the Diarreah.
We did not contact any medical as we have never experienced this condition before and I had no faith in anything to do with this hotel.
The journey home from Cuba was a nightmare and we are both still feeling quite ill 21 days after leaving this so called vacation resort .
I noticed within the first two days that there had been drastic cutbacks.
Lack of adequate staff in the restaurants, most of the of Al a Carte restaurants closed, buffet closed at lunch time with an overcrowded beach bar to compensate, with long long lineups for food, an inadequate amount of seating, a shortage of rum and coffee.
Limited drink service poor quality drinks at lunch and dinner and overworked staff.
We have been constantly bitten by mosquitos, as there were no mosquito controls in place in fact it was a constant barrage of mosquito bites from morning till night.
The evening entertainment had been cut drastically compared to our previous visits when there had been piano music, singers etc. This time it was just "head banging" digital junk apart from one good male singer once a week.
I hold the management of this hotel responsible for all these problems.
They treat their workers like slaves.
The staff are overworked and very stressed.
The company seems to be only interested in making money and not in the welfare of their staff or guests.
Our two previous visits to this hotel were wonderful as the the food beverage manager Pachenco was dedicated to his job and was polite and caring to his guests and Staff, he has since left this hotel. At that time the hotel gave value for money and the staff were much happier.
As for the staff now, I think they are all wonderful, caring and hard working people. I class them as dear friends. They are not to blame in any way, shape or form.
This complaint sits squarely on the shoulders of the so-called "management"and AirTransat vacations. I wish to make it quite clear on that point. The booking agent for this trip was Sell Off Vacations who we DO NOT HOLD RESPONSIBLE as they were NOT told of the cutbacks and problems at this so called resort, they could NOT inform us, If they could I would have cancelled the trip.
And our illness lingers on from dehydration days after leaving resort.
Although this was an AirTransat vacation package they will not admit responsibility. ITS ALL ABOUT THE BOTTOM LINE MONEY FOR THEM and in one correspondence they stated that between 60% to 80% of people travelling to foreign destinations suffer from Diarreah, see Air Transtat reply case number Customer Relations Case 002239270 // 37029502
so why are they putting on AirTransat vacations to these places that jeopardize our health.
I am requesting ALL of my money back. NOT another vacation or a partial refund.
Needless to say they are making excuses and saying that they will do better next time we come back and offering us VIP treatment if we come back with a cheap bottle of wine or rum , NO THANKS only a FULL REFUND!!!.
We will never come back to this resort owned by Melia in fact we are finished with Cuba and Melia Hotel Chain as the hygene etc is bad we value our health to much .
I strongly urge anyone who is thinking about going to this GARBAGE hotel to think about changing your mind and forget Melia and Cuba Diarrea Country.

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!! My husband and I spent over $200 a night to stay at the Melia Cohiba in Havana, Cuba. Our hotel room ceiling began leaking significantly, flooding our floor, and the hotel manager refused to move us. Instead, he offered to give us a free dinner (this was at 10pm!) Even the hotel’s engineer deemed the room unsafe for us and our 9 month old daughter, but the manager didn’t care. There is nothing to recommend about this hotel, or the brand. I voiced my concern to Melia corporate weeks ago and haven’t heard a word. I have tried to send follow up emails-I haven’t gotten replies. We have received nothing for our troubles. Stay away!
