We reserved a sweets tour as a gift for a good friend with two girls during their very first visit to Paris. Through the efforts of Meet the Locals organizer Dominique they recieved a professional, informed and very delicious tour in the Saint Germain quarter with the fantastic guide Yaelle, who introduced the sweets of Paris to her and to her daughters (aged 12 and 14), and who told them both about the shops they visited and about Paris in general. Yaelle was warm and professional, and offered valuable advice for the rest of
their stay. Highly recommended!

I booked the Sweets Tour for my mother's 75th birthday. It was the perfect gift. The customer service was as good as I have received anywhere. The tour itself took us through the charming streets of aristocratic Saint Germain. We visited beautiful shops and sampled a wide variety of candy and other sweets. I can highly recommend this tour to anyone who like sweets and wishes to experience some of the best Paris has to offer.

WOW, What an experience! We had an unforgettable day in Paris. Sophie met us at the train station where our journey began. She was warm, friendly and knowledgeable. We wanted to see and experience as much as we could, we were only there for the day. We went to Notre-Dame, Le Louvre and the Eiffel Tower. We walked the streets, travelled on local trains, and buses and then ended the tour with a delicious hot chocolate. The pace was perfect, and Sophie made the entire day so pleasurable and easy. There was no way I could have navigated around Paris and experienced and saw what we did without Sophie. The day was also tailored to my 13year old with lots of fun facts and fun. Thank you, Sophie, for our unforgettable day in Paris. We hope to be back with the rest of the family!

Fantastic personalised tour of Montmartre!!! I have been living in Paris for 5 years and been to Montmartre several times but on this 4 hours walking tour with Emmanuel I saw places I had never seen before, including a great picture spot of Sacre Coeur. Emmanuel, our multi lingual tour guide told us interesting historical anecdotes, decoded graffiti language I didn't even know existed! Absolutely overall great experience.

My teen daughter and I just had a great walking tour of Paris with Manu. He is a terrific guide. Very friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. It is a great way to experience the city on foot... would highly recommend to a first timer in Paris.

I have been coming to Paris for years and have exhausted the "top 10" long ago. We have started doing off the beaten path items and realized that we really didn't know the history of Paris / France too well and thus we looked for a tour company to help us start to learn - we WILL be booking with Meet the Locals again!
We had booked the Resistance history tour; however the guide was unavailable. Dominique was wonderful in finding a true historian to provide us a tour that was going to be about WWII; however, when we met Sébastien we quickly realized that he was a walking history book and we could ask questions about Paris in general, and boy did we! Sébastien started with telling us the history and legends around the Opera house, then as we walked toward Tuileries Gardens / Notre Dame he taught us about the kings, queens, revolutions/revolts (discovered there were a lot more than the 2 I learned in European history classes), leaders (Napoleon(s)), etc. He taught us about different hotels; why they were built, who stayed there, how the Nazis' used them and then where the resistance were located (his grandparents were members of the resistance), then he tied it into the history of Louis to modern day. Question ... what were the Tuileries Gardens before they were gardens? Well, if you are lucky enough to get Sébastien, you will know. I can not recommend the opportunity to walk and talk with Sébastien ever enough. If Dominique will coordinate another 2-3 hours with Sébastien for us, I would love to pickup where we left off.

In December, I chose to do a detailed tour of Montparnasse with guide Sophie, to learn more about the place I lived and worked 30 years ago. It was a real pleasure to see the environments where so many artists and writers lived and worked and to put it all in context. I have read many books on the interwar years, but to experience the geography of the place and to hear so many personalised anecdotes, illustrated by character cards, and a great depth of specialised knowledge was truly illuminating. Not only did I see where they lived but learned something of why these major 20th Century figures chose Montparnasse as home, and it's rise and fall as a world-renowned beacon of culture and liberty.
It's far from the most beautiful area of Paris, but if you want 2.5 hours of immersion into a rich cultural history then do this tour. They really do know their subject matter.

Sophie was a wonderful guide and her company was efficient, friendly and precise.
She was a walking History Course with a love and passion for the city of Paris that was infectious.
My Mom and I enjoyed Sophie so much we actually hired her for 4 of the 8 days we were in Paris.
I definitely recommend Sophie and her Meet the Locals gang to anyone who is looking for a deeper look at Paris.

This review is so embarrassingly overdue. We (Myself, my husband, our 10 and 7 year old children) went on a trip to Europe this summer and arrived in Paris with no excursions booked! I contacted Meet The Locals via their website and Thomas responded right away and booked us a trip to the Louvre with Camille. She knew the Louvre inside and out, tailored the tour for the kids with mystery clues and adventure while learning important aspects of the art pieces and we had a lovely ice cream together after! We loved her so much that we booked her for a Versailles tour 2 days later. I literally cannot express how much our family loved Camille and loved the tours she provided. She brought us beautiful pastries for the train ride and started filling us in on some of the history. She played fun games with the kids which helped them learn and be even more interested in the French culture. On the tour, they were riveted and wanted to know more about Louis XIV the rest of the trip. Not only that, my husband and I learned more from these tours than we would have if we had spent all day wandering on our own and reading the placards. She told us some insider secrets! We look forward to going back and doing more with Meet The Locals and would tell everyone we know that you are missing out if you do not book a tour with them while in Paris!

Our guide Sophie made our trip to Versailles a first class experience. She was great company, with an in-depth knowledge of the history and daily life of the court. She told entertaining anecdotes about the people who surrounded the royals and the roles they played. She has extensive knowledge of the art, decor and gardens of Versailles. I loved her personal touch! She didn't just rattle off a list of facts but listened carefully to questions and answered them knowledgeably and conversationally. She made history come alive for us! If we ever go to Paris again, we will ask for her by name!

If you love to do photography and have fun exploring Paris at the same time, i would highly recommend the Paris Photo Tour on Scooter with Fred. Fred took time to discuss and plan with me before my arrival to ensure I get the most out of the scooter tour. Fred is a great photographer and an excellent teacher, patiently answering all my questions. We visited the iconic Paris landmark and less well known but equally interesting locations during sunrise, golden hour and night time. The best thing about scooter tour is that you can spontaneously stop almost anywhere if you see something cool to photograph. Thank you to Thomas as well for finding the perfect tour for me and connecting with Fred. I had a fabulous time and would love to do it again ~ Merci Beaucoup!

We did the French Revolution walking tour with Sophie and we couldn't have been happier with the result. Sophie was charming and articulate and incredibly knowledgeable. Both her historical knowledge which was remarkable and her grasping of the events and the nuances that surrounded them which was fascinating! We highly highly recommend this. Both for those that have been to Paris before and for first timers. Amazing tour that we are so glad to have taken.
