Software to automatically reduce blue light at nighttime to reduce eyestrain.
Still waiting for the Android version though, even if it requires root.

Lots of research has shown that computer screens and cell phones reduce the quality of your sleep if you use them at night. I don't think F.lux totally stops this but the software which is free and runs in the background blocks out the blue light at night from computers and cell phones which is meant to be the most damaging to sleep. I was a little suspicious because everything appears to be free (how do they make money?) but there were write ups in a lot of legit places like the Washington Post so I gave it a try. Unfortunately their iPhone version only works with unlocked phones. Otherwise it all seems great.

I consider the program experimental so far- but also very trustworthy.
If you are sleep sensitive artificial lighting may be a huge source of the problem. Life has evolved over billions of years to adapt to a 24 hour day/night cycle. Artificial lighting(unless it specifically is designed to mimic sunlight) has the wrong colors and it isn't daylight. All that funny lighting may be totally disrupting our systems.

f.lux is a software program that basically makes your screen colors warmer at night.
Your monitor (without f.lux and on default settings) it set to match things in the daytime --- you're not like, woah what's up with your screen? at 3 PM are you?
In f.lux make sure you use the slow transition speed so you're screen doesn't go from 6500k to 3400k in 20 seconds, but instead gradually over an hour.
Most indoor light bulbs put off a more yellowish orange color, so f.lux slowly, over an hour changes your screen color to match indoor lighting, and one of these settings is 2700k incandescent. if you have lights with 2700k color rating, your monitor will FINALLY look just like the things around you.
A cool test is to get a tube of tooth paste, and google image that SAME tube of toothpaste, when the colors on the screen match what you have in your hand, it's quite awesome!
Just a side note about tooth paste, don't cover the whole brush with a thick amount, just a dot on the tip -- too much toothpaste is worse than not brushing at all!
Anyway, f.lux is a great program, and I wish it was DEFAULT on every computer, tablet, and phone, then the world would have a lot less sleeping issues.
Next we have to get rid of all these blue LED lights all over our electronics!

Excellent free software for Windows, Mac and Linux which greatly reduces eye strain.
This is not bullshit, it works for real. I have been using this f.lux for several months now, and I'm not going back.
