I have used jucy before on two occasions previously. Service and quality of the vechicles are okay and undeniably the price is competitive which is the only reason I’m (or was) a repeat customer.
I booked a 4 wheela 1.5 months in advance (paying a 20 pct deposit) for my 10 day Long ski trip plus pre wed photo shoot with my fiancé. Upon arrival I was told 4 wheelas are not available despite the party just before me hired three 4 wheelas I overheard when I was queueing. I was presented with three options. Choose a Styla which is a much smaller car instead, come back tomorrow when a 4 wheela will be available, or get a refund to the deposit I paid. So I travelled over 9000 km and The first thing I’m faced with was either a rental downgrade, waste a few hours of my time the next day, or the bugger off option. If this is how you treat your customers I’m afraid your business will not go too far. And for those who are thinking of using them, if they actually give you what you booked, I guess for the price you pay it’s alright.

We stayed in a Jucy chaser for 6 weeks. We were pretty disappointed with the state we got it in. During our orientation we were partnered up with another couple to be given a tour of their campervan. Therefore we weren’t able to pick up things related to our campervan. Our camper had oil spilled everywhere under the sink, the grey water wasn’t fully dumped and our black water tank didn’t come with a toilet tab in now did it come with extras (like the other couple had). Only one burner works (the left one) and one of the snaps was broken for the window coverings. We’ve been using bandaids to keep in shut.
Everything else was fine, but the initial impression of the company was less than ideal.
Also, don’t bother to book their jucy cruise at Milford sound. We booked their coach and cruise and ended up not getting on a jucy coach nor cruise because of “confusion” and our arrival time to Te Anau was 3:30 but we didn’t get back until 5:30 because of “confusion”. There were no apologies made from the company nor reimbursements.
JUCY did a good job at addressing our concerns when we returned our vehicle. Their cruise also called to ask about our experience and apologized for what happened. Thank you JUCY for your customer service.

I rented a basic campervan from Jucy in February in Queenstown. The van was poorly designed and I was not impressed it, but the main issue I had was that four months after renting it I was hit with an additional RUC - Road User Charge, which I was not informed about before renting the vehicle and then had an email four month later saying they had taken the month from my credit card. I live in the UK where this would not be legal.

Rented a car with Jucy via Rentalcars. Arrived a bit later than indicated but still before depot closure time at Auckland Airport of 6.00pm. Rang for pickup but no answer. Tried 3 times and then rang the central service. They also tried to ring the depot. No answer. Was informed they must have gone home and that I would have to wait until the next morning to pick up the car. Not a great solution and no apology, no alternative offered. The worst example of customer service I have come across. Mind you Rentalcars were no better. Took no responsibility and not prepared to follow up "our problem, not theirs"

The short version - There are lots of campervan companies in New Zealand. Don’t use Jucy. I saw a lot of Britz campervan vans on the road. Maybe they’re worth a look.
Pro - The Condo campervan didn’t break down on us.
Cons - 1) It wasn’t equipped with its “standard” space heater. Jucy’s call service was worthless. They couldn’t even tell me if the heater was a stand alone unit (it was). When I e-nailed, Jucy’s recommendation was for us to “buy one.” (I made a pit stop by a different Jucy location, and forced them to give me one.). 2) We paid for Jucy to request and pay for the interisland ferry between the North and South Islands of New Zealand. We then received a lecture from a ferry terminal employee, because the Condo’s dimensions were submitted to them wrong (vehicle length impacts how many vehicles they can carry). The Jucy employee had indicated that the campervan was 2 meters long (the Condo is about 5 meters long). 3) It was not clearly communicated to me that Jucy only receives campervans during regular business hours (e.g., 8 am to 5 pm). I had an early morning international flight. Without after hours checkin - I had to return it a day early. Good news - Jucy charged me for the last day, wouldn’t allow me to transfer that night to one of their Snooze locations, AND I still had to pay for a hotel. 4) Jucy’s fleet is old, and maintenance is mediocre at best. (Our breaks sounded gravely, which made us uncomfortable on some New Zealand roads. It took the kitchen sink over night to drain about an inch of water, so we couldn’t cook in the camper.)

Terrible unfriendly service, operating shuttle service at Auckland airport only from 8:00am to 6:00pm therefore you are unable to pick up the car out of the hours and have to catch an Uber from the site to the airport when dropping a car off but they will continue to charge you a fee for being close to the airport. The bond is excessive paying $2000 mandatory. They also lost the car when returning and had to follow the cctv footage to ensure I had indeed dropped the car back. Complete tourist trap.

We booked and paied for a Jucy campervan weeks in advance. We got the car in Auckland today before 9am. After a 2h drive, the car just broke. Now it’s 9pm, we are still stucked, with no car and no solution. We lost the whole day and are about to lose another one because nobody in the 24h jucy service knows anything. They put us in a hotel and did not tell us what to do or what to expect. Honestly they could not care less about their costumers.

Used a couple of times, once in New Zealand and another time in Sydney and both experiences were good. Had to wait in long queues both times but apart from that I thought their service is pretty good.

Our experience with Jucy at Auckland International was excellent. Easy and quick shuttle pickup via courtesy phone in the airport and our car was immediately ready. It was exactly the model promised, clean and fully fueled. Drop off was equally easy....perhaps too easy. If you're used to renting a car in the U.S., where everything is looked over with a fine-toothed comb, that's not what you're going to get in NZ. We dropped the car off, left the keys on the dash, and walked away. Nobody checked anything.

From arriving at pick up to returning the at the experience was very poor. And then it got worse when we tried to make follow up contact after rental. A scruffy car was supplied with squeaky brakes and faulty central locking - no alternative vehicle was available. We had booked in advance and arrived on time so why they had to supply a sub standard car is concerning. It also brings into question their quality system - did the car actually go through pre-pick up inspection ? Post the rental I have been emailing them for over 2 weeks without reply

The only reason that we booked Jucy campervan is they allowed late pick up. End up they reported we didn’t submit sufficient information and they refused late picked up. We spent hours in the airport to organize new accommodation and wasted booked holiday park. We didn’t receive any apologies from the stuffs and all they said is our fault! The heater was broken they didn’t check the equipment when pass to customer.
I would not recommend hire any cars from Jucy!

Hmm.... loads of issues happened with the campervan we had so had to get it swapped half way. We did this at queenstown and customer service were so empathetic and helped us out. Then had issues with the second one... finally got through to the feedback team and they gave us some compensation and were very apologetic for the experience we had. Look these things happen with vehicles if you’re going to go on long journeys for a month. I totally get that, but there were several things that could have been prevented with some employee training, real evaluation of the vehicles and having a think about whether that vehicle is appropriate for lengths of journeys etc. But when we got through to the right people they were really helpful and in that sense I would say we did have a good experience.

Travelled in New Zealand with a Jucy Cabana and had a great experience up until a month later and now we are getting threatened to get charged admin fee for not paying toll - which we did and have proof of!
Also were promised a free GPS device when booking and on pick-up were told we couldn't have one because we hadn't paid for it and paying customers come first. Nowhere did it say that availability wasn't guaranteed. Otherwise we would have brought our own with us.

Jucy Condo in North Island
Summary: We had a Jucy Condo for 2 weeks for 2 people, with pick-up from Auckland airport and drop-off at Wellington airport. The vehicle was fine, but the service was disorganised and rushed, and Jucy didn't appear to provide real duty of care to make sure that the customer was well-equipped to use the vehicle. Our Toyota Hiace also appeared to be a bit older and was missing the Self-contained sticker at the rear door (so we got woken up by council staff asking for certification papers late at night), had a leaking skylight, which was annoying, and they forgot our chairs. Just make sure you read up on NZ freedom camping laws and ask questions during the vehicle pick-up, don't assume that Jucy will take care of everything.
No mechanical issues - the Toyota Hiace was fine during our 3000km journey over 2 weeks.
Pretty efficient use of space inside the vehicle - good for 2 people, but would be very squeezy for 4 adults (advertised as sleeping 4)
Vehicle, kitchen supplies and bedding were all clean.
No self-contained sticker provided for our Jucy Condo campervan on the rear door, which meant we were woken late at night by council staff and forced to show the detailed permit on paper and our ID while freedom camping in an approved area, otherwise they threatened to fine us or make us move on immediately. Other identical Jucy campers on the road had this sticker.
Did not explain how to use the vehicle at all, including greywater system or toilet unless prompted, gave little information on gear included in the camper (e.g. kitchen items, charging of electrical devices, where things were located within the van) - we were able to solve most issues afterwards pretty quickly, but the lack of information meant that our chairs were missed by Jucy
Did not provide us with the chairs we'd paid for and were not given a chance at handover to ask for a refund
Skylight leaked during rain, wetting the rear seats and our bags
No handover process at the vehicle drop-off - attendant rushed us into the airport van, was generally rude and distracted, which was stressful as we didn't get to double check our possessions prior to leaving the vehicle
No spare oil or coolant was provided - the lady at check-in told us that this wasn't necessary as they were checked between rentals, but to be honest, if you're renting it for weeks and driving thousands of kilometers, you want the reassurance that you can check and top up the oil and coolant as required.

Just hired a Jucy champ for a 12 day South Island tour. I have to say the pick up and drop off couldn’t have been easier. Pick up took 15 minutes and when dropping off, the guy literally took the keys off us and we got in the shuttle bus to the airport terminal!
The people carrier was comfortable when driving and very cosy to sleep in both in the van and in the tent on top. Bear in mind this was early March. It could have been chilly later in the year. It had everything we needed - a small fridge, crockery, burner and bedding/ towels were all supplied.
It is an easy and hassle free way to get around NZ. Very happy with the whole experience and would very much recommend them
We loved waving to other Jucy vans too!

Never again... car was not available for collection from Wellington although we received confirmation. Worst bit was, our flight landed at midnight and we had to catch a taxi to jucy car rental from the airport only to find out our car wasn't available. Then needed to call another taxi to pick us up and take us back to the airport so we could hire another car from a proper firm. Never again.

We rented a Jucy Cabana for 24 days during June/July in New Zealand. The vehicle itself is great, no major problem and easy to drive (I am a fan of Toyotas). During our road trip we did encounter a problem with the door system where one side got jammed and was neither open fully, nor closed properly. Luckily for us, Jucy were quick to respond and gave us options to get it fixed without it costing us anything. Even though it was a bit inconvenient, it happens and Jucy were great in helping and following through. The bed in these small cars are pretty good, however a bit short for people above my height (5'3''). The main issue, and the reason I picked 4 stars, is the fact that the stove that was included was near impossible to cook on. My partner and I are big campers but the butane gas stove struggled to stay lit and would take nearly 30 minutes to boil water. Luckily for us, we brought a burner with us and just bought gas as we needed it.
I would recommend this company though as the customer service was great, the car was adequate and the time I had was fantastic. If you do decide to road trip in winter however, make sure you either hire extra blankets or bring your own sleeping bags (like we did). The thin layer duvet provided does not keep you warm in the cars without heating.

Along with value, Jucy has demonstrated their love and care for their customers time after time. After a little hiccup with the booking details (Auckland City & Auckland Airport are different, who would've guessed?) we were stuck with no way of getting to Auckland City in time to pick up a Styla with roof racks. Without hesitation, Jucy presented me with an upgrade to a 4x4 from Auckland Airport for no extra cost. Would I recommend Jucy to my friends and family? Without a doubt, they will receive an onslaught of good comments from me and my highly recommendation that without Jucy, you don't truly experience New Zealand. Have my friends gone with Jucy with my recommendation? Yes. Have they loved it too? Yes.

Would highly recommend using jucy to travel New Zealand.
We had the basic campervan, the Cabana, and travelled the South Island in winter. Although there was no heater in this model, it is cold but isn't as bad as what you'd think it would be!
The car was perfect and had everything we needed and more. The only negative was the fridge wasn't working but it was cold anyway... would be a big problem in summer so check before you leave the depot!
We went for the full cover insurance, which is expensive but definitely worth it and makes the trip stress free. On our last day we noticed a crack in our windscreen, due to the hot air hitting the cold more than likely, however when we returned to jucy they were fine as we had the full cover and didn't have to pay any excess!
Perfect company, no hidden costs and friendly staff. Everything was exactly as described and we loved it.

Vehicle quality - 8/10
Air vent was leaking, kitchen sink and shower drain stopped working when the vehicle isn't moving (Jucy Chaser, 8 April 2017). The rest are great! Can fit 4 people and you'll see lots of them on the road!
On the road experience - 9/10
We had a breakdown and the customer representative, Tony was very helpful. If there was 24hour on the road assist service that would be even better.
Value - 9/10
Value for money compared to other campervans!
Customer service - 5/10
The check-in and check-out process were very frustrating and slow due to a low number of staff especially on weekends and peak season! The staff on duty however were friendly and patience except for one guy.

Awesome and unforgettable first campervan experience with JUCY CHASER(Rego HTK738) for 10days Winter Trip here in South Island, NZ. Super no hassels, we have all the important things inside this campervan for our trip and adventures, hot and cold tap water and shower, toilet, bed including duvet and linens, fridge, and cook top. Will definitely recommend to anyone out there doing a trip.
Also the customer service is doing great replying promptly to emails and most of all to Shannon(from JUCY Queenstown Airport branch) and the rest of the jucy crew for helping me retrieve my house keys that we left in the campervan in a span of minutes to help us catch up our flight. Many thanks and kudos and job well done to all the jucy team! :-)

Unless you want the latest model car, Jucy provides the best service, great value and a reliable vehicle. We took a Travella car up the mountain to Cardrona 4 days and did sightseeing for the rest of the week and had no problems with the car.
Booking and pickup was very straightforward and return slick and friendly.
Can't wait to get another o e this weekend!
