I love Ignite! The vibe reminds me of Soul Cycle and I love that I can come in, sweat, dance (literally) on my bike, and not be pressured to crunch numbers throughout my class. Ignite is my go-to for when I just do not feel like working out. I can go in after a night shift at the hospital feeling exhausted and walk out feeling refreshed! I love that the tone that the owner, Tiffany, has set is to "love yourself, your journey, and your body" no matter what. Definitely a must try if you live in or are just dropping by Birmingham!

If you're looking for a different way to get healthy, lose weight and improve your cardio you have to try Ignite Cycle. All I can say is WOW! You walk in and instantly you're greeted by an enthusiastic member of the team. My class had Tiffany. During the class you have to have special cycling shoes that lock you into the bike. You're also adjusted to the bike for the perfect fit for your body. Once that's done and everyone is adjusted then the fun begins! The lights go down and the lights begin flashing in the room with the music turned up with songs that make you want to turn up and move. Tiffany the instructor slowly warmed us up and then kicked it into high gear. The entire time during the class she motivated you with her infectious energy! The energy was so high in the room you couldn't do anything but try to keep up with everyone. In addition, the instructor kept a close eye on anyone who may have needed help and addressed it right away by dimming the lights to not bring a lot of attention to the issue and at the same time continued to motivate everyone. It was incredible! This is an outstanding way to kick up your fitness goals and at the same time have fun. You'll burn a lot of calories within a 30 minute class. I'd definitely recommend it for serious fitness seekers.

Ignite Cycle is a lady-owned rhythm cycle studio located in Pepper Place and is the only studio of it's kind in B'ham. What is rhythm cycling, you ask? It's a spin class combined with beat-driven music, low-lighting, and choreography that works your core and arms.
The most famous chain of rhythm cycling studios goes by a name that rhymes with "pole cycle" -- and is ever so trendy in places like NYC and Cali. But they are really not worth mentioning now that we have Ignite Cycle - a business born and raised in B'ham, am I right?
Ignite is currently holding pop-up classes just across the street from their eventual permanent location. You need to sign up for their emails or check social media to reserve a spot. Every single one has sold out so you'll need to plan ahead. These classes are full length at 45mins long and offer a preview of what the full studio experience will be minus lights and surround sound. I've taken two of these classes so far and they go a little like this : You arrive about 15 mins early to change your shoes (you can bring your own or borrow a pair) and get situated on your bike. Before class started you'll need to adjust your seat and handlebar height. The instructors are super helpful to get you set up and you should ask if you are unsure - they can tell by eye pretty quickly what adjustments need to be made. The bikes themselves are brand-new, super sexy and offer a knob/switch to slowly/quickly adjust resistance. You'll start at minimal resistance and toggle up/down during the class by instructors prompts or your own feel. You always want to be in control of the pedal motion - since you are clipped in (attached to pedals) it is easy to just go with momentum but full benefits of the work come from staying in full control of your movement and not being pulled/pushed by momentum. Once class starts, get pumped for upbeat motivating music and positive, empowering instructor cues. You'll work all parts of your legs, booty, core and arms by class end. Both playlists have been *amazing* and are thoughtfully curated to the movements and moment of the class. You'll quickly work up a sweat but the alternation between movement and pace will help you endure the full 45 (it really speeds by!). The end of class includes a cool down, spin out and stretching. Throughout class, the instructor prompts are both motivating and inspirational -- I really like the combination and appreciate that there are only positive (no negative) call-outs and that the mood of the instructors is always very happy/upbeat. I have no clue the calorie burn of this class because I don't track that data but I'm sure it would be impressive if recorded. Ultimately, I walk out feeling powerful, light and motivated to finish my day strong.
What is really exciting about Ignite Cycle is that they are all about empowering you to achieve your best ride, your best day, your best self. The owner, Tiffany, is a CoStarters graduate and has created a studio that reaches beyond just a fitness venue. The full iteration of the studio will include a community space and will extend beyond just spin classes. Get excited, Birmingham!
