My flight landed late, and the car rental place was closed. Why did they allow me to book a rental from them if they knew they'd be closed? I had to spend additonal money to rent a car from somewhere else.

Not to many problems with Holiday Autos. However they booked the car through Alamo and I certainly will not use them again. When I collected the car (Jeep Compass) from Toulouse Airport the orocess was OK and the car looked OK, looked like it had just been through a car wash but hadn't been dried off. Checked over the car and all was OK so drove off. As I exited the car park I realised that the inside of the windscreen was dirty as was the other glass in the car. Within a few minutes the "Change oil" light came on, this was on and off for the duration of the rental. Later that day we had to drive about 100k from Toulouse and this is when the problem started. At speeds above 60 / 70kph the steering would grab to the left for no reason, even when going straight. Tried to phone Alamo to ask for advice but the phone wasn't answered. When I dropped the car off a couple of days later the office at the airport was closed (08.30hrs Sunday morning) so I couldn't report the steering issue. Phoned them from the UK on Monday morning to tell them of my issue. The gentleman I spoke to really wasn't interested so another unsuspecting person will get the same car without repair.

Please don’t event book with Holiday Autos!
I’ve booked a car in advance in Italy (2 months in advance) and they didn’t give it to me after I’ve declined an offer of an extra insurance claiming that drivers license ( issued in Germany) and not international ! WHat ta hell ?
They didn’t return my money, sent me to deal with customer care and their customer car dropped my case for no reason.
I’ve resubmited the case and it took them 30 days just to start reviewing it.
Now it’s been a week since I’ve submitted my docs for their review and still nothing happened.

DO NOT USE HOLIDAY AUTOS OR GREEN MOTION CAR HIRES!!!! WORST CAR HIRE COMPANIES I HAVE EVER USED!!!
I paid $186.14 for my car and $81 for my car insurance online two months before my trip to Scotland. I received confirmation numbers, booking numbers, and other guarantees that everything was paid in full and ready to go. NOT TRUE.
Upon arriving at Edinburgh airport, I tried to pick up my car from GreenMotion car and van rental. At first, they tried to convince me to pay an extra $6,000 for the car hire and some sort of "insurance coverage" for just 8 days!!! I obviously refused, but they wouldn't give me my car without charging me for an entire SECOND booking, totaling $486.98! I had no other option but to pay so I could have a car. I WAS FURIOUS.
When I returned the car, they then charged me a THIRD time for "mileage and fuel" (I tracked everything, and did not go over the limit) for $109.39!!!
This is sickening! I was stuck, trying to visit my children in Scotland, and was forced to basically pay or walk!
I have retained a lawyer, submitted a final demand for a refund of $597.37 (this does not even include my initial booking fees), and have contacted the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) and the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) for an appropriate resolution. Hopefully this takes of the matter.
I will NEVER use Holiday Autos - or greenmotion - ever again.

Be very careful of these people!!! I wont book with them again! I havent used a firm like this before as we normally book directly - I can see why we do and will ensure we will moving forwards! We booked a car hire for a wedding in Italy in June 2019 - when we arrived at the airport just before midnight we were told we we needed a credit card - we used the same card that we booked and paid for in the uk - at the airport Gold Car then informed us that they dont take AMEX! No warning from holiday autos. We then used another card and they have charged us an additional £290 a week later. I have complained several time to Holiday Autos who have this dreadful compalints website and wont let you speak to anyone! When they did come back they said I shouldnt have paid the monies and signed a new agreement as I had already paid - Talk about stating the obvious-!! I had no idea this is happening and have tried to explain that I didnt want a new agreement or to pay twice but they do not seem to care and just point the blame at the other firm - who wont speak to me! When you pass on your card details you dont expect them to be used in this manner!! Really upset and angry and I really hope to get this resolved so other people do not have to go throught this awful experience!!

Scam,never book through these guys.
I had booked a one way car rental from Newark airport to Regan airport in Virginia.and when I went to ewr airport to advantage car rental,they refused to honor the booking and asked me to pay $500 surcharge.
I have contacted holiday several times,and it has been a month no reply from them.

I wouldnt even give them 1* review! The booking process was simple enough. However, we arrived in Valencia after a very early morning flight with two young kids, exhausted. When we got to the rental desk, they didn't have our reservation. After -5 minutes the desk clerk (i must add that the Alamo staff are so friendly and helpful), realised that our reservation had been made to collect our car from the train station in the centre of Valencia. We had booked for Valencia airport, and knew we hadn't made a mistake, and even proved this by going on the holiday autos website and went through the steps to make a new booking, and the train station doesn't even come up as an option, so how could we have booked it. They had no automatic cars there that could fit us all in with our luggage.
After an hour of the airport staff talking to the train station staff, we were told that we had to travel there to collect our car, which was a 20 minute drive. Luckily the staff arranged a lift in two cars, from their friends who drove us and our luggage there. When we arrived the staff were amazing and so helpful, but the only car they had for us was a Qashqai, which we gave at home and know we cannot safely fit everything in to. We had purposely chosen a more expensive class of car, to ensure it was big enough for our needs, and had even emailed Holiday Autos to confirm this after we booked.
As there was no other option, we had to squeeze our two kids in between suitcases and drive with almost zero visibility for 40 minutes on motorways and winding roads, seriously unsafe and scary!
I messages Holiday autos through the Resolver website, as i couldn't find any contacr for complaints for them online.
After two days of emailing back and forth, they agreed to escalate the case with higher management and told me i would hear back from them. I have no returned from my holiday and hear nothing. I emailed again today only to be told my case had been closed, without them even bothering to apologise or compensate us.. When I objected and demanded they reopen the case, i was told that once higher management closed the case, that was it.
I am shocked and to be honest disgusted that such a well known company can treat customers this way and get away with it.
Don't touch them a with a barge pole, even if they offer the cheapest rate!!

Absolutely awful experience. Please never use this company, you will be ripped off, they have numerous ways of ripping you off. Made a €60 booking and ended up paying €200 after all their tricks became apparent. Their customer service is disgracefully bad.

Just like others on this thread I was “bullied “ into paying for extra insurance at the pickup desk in Corfu. It was late and we had tired kids with us so very vulnerable to the pressure sell. I’ve gone through resolver to get the overcharge back. No luck so far but will go to the British vehicle rental and leasing association if I need to. Will never use again.

Amazing company, they contacted me after my first review on here to see if help me get my issues resolved. I spent the time detailing the issues to them.
Customer service is appalling.
Avoid booking through Holiday Auto, call a local company at your destination and book direct, holiday autos do no care about their customers and don't deserve your business.
I am still £600 out of pocket.

Booked car w UNLIMITED mileage with Holiday Autos. Holiday Autos use CarTrawler, who processed my booking at hired a car at EuropCar with LIMITED mileage (60 miles/day), and an excessive extra charge per mile if exceeded.
Holiday Autos cleverly DO NOT send you a copy of your booking conditions. Instead, you have to press a button in the confirmation email, which generates a new booking receipt at the spot, why HolidayAutos can modify your booking WITHOUT your knowledge. When I checked the Holiday Autos voucher online a week ago, it said 'UNLIMITED', but today it says LIMITED.
Having left the airport, being forced to accept the LIMITED mileage conditions with EuropeCar, I contacted Holiday Autos Customer Service over their chat board, which did not answer, other than an auto-reply I would be contacted later. This of course never happened, and I can now see in the log of my booking that they argue I abandoned my claim, and they simply closed it.
Picking up the car at the EuropeCar frontdesk in the Airport, I was just one of several clients who had been scammed. I have just been in touch with the EuropCar booking manager for the country where I hired, and as they have had similar occurrences with other clients recently, they are looking into it as it also ruins their reputation working with agents like Holiday Autos.

Steer clear of them, they are only out to get your money. I booked a car rental through Holiday Autos and needed to cancel it. I first when online and tried to cancel my reservation through their website, but every time I clicked on the cancel button in my reservation it didn't go through eventhough they say you can cancel. Then I tried calling their customer service to cancel it but I got a recording saying they were closed and to call back, yet their website says 24/7 customer service. False! When I finally got a hold of someone in their customer service it was a few days later (after the start of my original booking) and they said since it was past the booking, eventhough I didn't get the car, they would still keep my money. Be very careful if you use them because they have false advertising and aren't there to support you when you need it. They will also look for any reason to swindle you and keep your money.

This is a criminal organization that steals money I have written them every day with no reply for a week in order to collect money back from a car I was unable to rent (even though I had no problem renting a car a month before). I will not give up until they pay me back. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, THEY STILL DID NOT WRITE ME BACK.

If you are considering a car rental pls avoid. We landed an hour later than expected at 7pm at pisa Airport. After eventually finding the shop it was closed early and no one answered the phone. Its an absolute joke. We only landed at 7pm what do clients do if they land later! Plus no one picks up the phone for outside hours! I just called them now but they don't speak English!
I was prompted to Noleggiare the car rental through Holiday Autos who provide minimal help in retriving my car rental and refused to give me a refund.
PLS PLS AVOID HOLIDAY AUTOS you will have an awful experience and they will STEAL your hard earned cash!

HolidayAutos refused to refund the additional insuranve I had to pay at the counter of the affiliated car company. They refused to hand over the car unless I paid. I provided the information I had and they still refused - HolidayAutos refused to provide a phone number to raise a complaint after asking multiple times. £190 was the amount request after I'd paid for car and insurance for £140!!!

Booked a vehicle through this 'company', they charged double on my credit card. Months later they still haven't sorted anything. Now they have sent an e-mail stating "your case is now closed".
PLEASE stay well clear of these conmen, their so called prices are just lies to convince you to book.

My partner had to travel to south africa urgently due to a family emergency. Whilst she was getting ready, i booked a car through their site on my credit card for collection the following day following her overnight flight. Only when i confirmed the payment you get a message saying that you need the credit card that was used to purchase the hire with. I partner took my credit card as well as all the other required documents including her own credit card as proof of ID.
Well, i tried calling the customer services of holiday suto who was very poor in speaking english, did not listen or understand what i was saying. What could have been a simple five minute chat turned into a 15 minute row as you could not speak any clearer.
The call center is based in the philippines, english not being one of their job descriptions to have a job there.
I have now lost my money in dealing with these people. I will take it further. As i said, you get the must have warnings only after you book it. An error maybe but what the hell could be so difficult when my partner has all her own documents. i just paid for the car. What happens when a company books the car for an employee travelling on a company business card. The employee wont take the business card.
Take advice and stay away from this website. Cheaper is not always best.

This company is terrible. Charged us twice for a vehicle. They also charged a lot more than the company hiring the car itself. I would 100% recommend going directly to the car hire company, DO NOT use Holiday Autos.

I have just returned from a trip to Barcelona and had booked a car through Holiday Autos and paid them - It is clear that as a booking company they are miss-selling as the hire car company then add additional charges at the desk. When querying this the company (Goldcar) said that the contract is with them not Holiday Autos and that they were not interested. I had a similar experience 5 years ago and it is the same now. My son in law incurred and additional 165 euros charge because they added insurance that we had already purchased through Holiday Autos and they new it at the time - when I tried to argue that we did not need it they said we had signed and they could not do anything about it (they had deliberately not mentioned insurance during the whole conversation) - the whole issue is a scam and Holiday Autos are complicit in this...Do not use them

Worst customer service ever I have come across. Booked a car through holiday autos and they took the initial booking fee. But received a mail from Holiday autos as they could not book the car and asking for extra money to book a different car.
So I requested a cancellation and refund through mail. But they asked me to do on their web site. To my surprise there are no such page where you can cancel your booking and ask for refund. I have tried at least 20 times but couldn’t do it on their web site. Basically it is a scam.
