Fidor Germany are far too slow to respond to emails. The first email I sent them some months back was for them to update the mobile number I had in my account. That took them 2 weeks to do. 2 weeks ago I emailed them again to ask them to close my Fidor bank account due to the new 5 euro charge fee they will be introducing on the 1st of November 2019. I am with other banks and not a single one of them are as slow as Fidor bank is in responding to a customer's email. If Fidor do not respond to the email I sent them asking them to close my Fidor bank account, I will be filing a complaint with the authorities.

I have used fidor bank about half a year. About two weeks ago, Fidor locked my bank account and my money without any warning and asked me to call customer service. I called customer service and the first 3 customer service staff hit me with the handset. I have called customer service before, and almost always get the same treatment.
How is it even possible for a bank to maintain such a service so that customer service staff will hit the handset so often that it is part of the standard service experience with you. Every three days I sent messages to the forums and called customer service, but no one answered my messages. Finally I was told by customer service that they do not know why my account was locked and that they will reply to my email soon. Now two weeks have passed and I still haven't heard anything about my money or my account.
My partners have lost patience and I have lost a client. I am very unhappy about this. I have never received such a bad service from any company and it is very worrying that it is a Bank. You control people's money, and many can be left in bad trouble by relying on you. Not to mention lost money and time like I lost for thousands.

SMS 2FA. Seriously? Are we back in 1990? SMS is notoriously unreliable. Roaming anyone?
Thanks for your reply, showing you actually care about your customers. A rare treat these days. BUT:
SMS Tan is useless while roaming or with a foreign number. Google Authenticator would satisfy directive #2.
Or maybe this nuisance is deliberate honouring the hidden 18 in your logo.

I've banked with Fidor for nearly 2 years. Many things they have messed up or done wrong:
1. Hidden fees everywhere
2. They closed access to my account for about 7 straight days because my Aufenthaltstitel had expired -- I had actually gotten citizenship in the meantime. No warning, no asking for information early, just closing access -- I could not even check balances of online banking.
3. I've tried 3x to close my account by emailing them, as they request. I have had NO ANSWERS. Zero replies. I am sick and tired of this, and will simply ignore anything else they try to do.
4. Lack of proper phone lines. They insist on using emails.
PS: I write in English because many Germans can read English, but not vice versa. 99% of my communication with Fidor has been in German.

I opened an account to fidor and after 4 months of daily use fidor bank decided to close and freeze my account without any warning or notice. I had to call customer support 10 times because 9/10 customer support employees do not even speak english. When i finally reached an employee who speaks english he said to me that i do not know why my account got frozen and we will in invetigate this and contact you as soon as the problem has resolved. I waited for about 2 weeks and i got a letter by fidor which did not give me any information of my account status whatsoever. Even more wrong is that fidor also decided to block the incoming payments to my account and sent the remaining funds to their original senders causing me financial losses and a lot of hard work lost.

I'll be honest, I thought (as many others) that the dark days of going from bank to bank were over thanks to this amazing bank : Fidor AG which is meant to offer banking facilities for cryptocurrency businesses. Unfortunately that was indeed too good to be true, after submitting my crypto account application over a month ago and numerous follow up emails as well as a personal reference from Kraken themselves, I am still awaiting a reply. I even tried calling without luck as no staff members are able to assist if I do not speak German. Oh well, I guess was worth a shot.

From good, to bad, to worse...
they were a good bank - yet reading within the user support forum and community there were always cases of huge friction and unacceptable behavior from a customer standpoint.
Of course it is a bank - but COMMUNICATION should especially in this field be very clear ... a "we are ditching this product in a couple months and you better apply for a new credit now" is just inacceptable. Especially considering that just a couple weeks ago they said the changes they where making to those credits would only affect new applications.
VERY POOR communication skills on all levels - after all the above statement on NOT affecting existing clients came from their CEO.
This is not reliable behavior.
Yet, I am giving 3 starts because the basic functions of a bank (quick money transfer, online banking reliable, app with (for me) all functions I need).
The card being a mix of banking card and credit/debit card is a bad idea as it is not accepted by many shops (not even in my almost 2 Million People hometown) and creates an extra unnecessary step when it is actually accepted because you have to choose which form of payment you want to use (when of course it is all the same bank account)

After almost a year of use, an unexpected account is blocked. After several requests to clarify the problem, a statement about the case and the response within 3 months came up. There are no answers after the set deadline and have not returned the money. Can anyone suggest how I can recover my money?

Fidor (UK) bank is an absolute joke. Customer support seem more interested in creating fake accounts on their useless forum then talking to themselves than actually providing support for their customers. Any customer who asks a question is immediately bombarded by the said fake accounts with useless information, marketing or pure lies.
Deposits and withdrawals are either ultra slow or don't work at all, with many customers losing their funds completely.
An absolute shambles of a company - stay away from this useless "bank" - it's not safe. BEWARE!!!

I received 6000 pounds from a buyer of bitcoin on localbitcoin.com,they close my account, they wouldn't give me any kind of information,and they refuse to give me my money. This is outrageous! I'm taking this to cort. Worst bank I had in my life!

This bank locked my account without any explanation while the balance was 0.00. No notifications, no explanations. I've sent 4 emails to them and still no response. Very poor experience!

Problem after problem.
I didn't want to leave a review before but felt this time things have gone too far! I sent a payment of 40 pounds to Transferwise to send to my wife and child in Azerbaijan and it said the money was sent but is now back in my account, I tried to re-send the money and it says I don't have enough balance. Problem after problem as I said, avoid this bank!

Don’t trust this bank.
They will close your account without reason and keep the money in the account.
Ignore emails and completely useless on the phones saying they can’t tell you anything.

Check out the latest debacle on this so called bank's community pages. Some poor customer was seeing unauthorised transactions taking place from his account on Friday and is unable to do anything about it until Tuesday, because fidor so called bank don't work weekends or bank holidays, not even to combat fraud.

very untransparent and even unprofessional.
we wanted to open an business account for our company. after long and exhaustive legitimations, all the formulars, openening an useraccount and loading up all the required formulars for our Kommanditgesellschaft, they just closed our useraccount and told us, that they would not be technically able to open an business account for us. Thats interesting, because we havent had any problems with opening an business account in another bank. but the worst thing is, that they closed our useraccount without noticing us. So we had no chance to delete all our sensitive uploaded Data. This is probably against the german Data Protection Law. Very doubtful behavior. They shouldnt be a bank. We consider, admitting this to the german BAFIN.
