We have had first American for 30 years. We had a plumbing blockage 9 months ago. First American said that they couldn’t get someone out to fix it for 4 days. Our hallway on the first floor had raw sewage all over it with the bathroom out of commission. We were
Having a party that night. We ended up calling a plumber ourselves. The plumber came
in an hour. It was $400.00. We paid it and did not as first american to reimburse us.
Yesterday the same thing happened plumbing is backed up. Called first American and again they cannot find someone until Tuesday which is 4 days away. Now they are telling us we can call on our own and they will reimburse us. If I can find a plumber to come out in an hour first American can as well. I am so frustrated. We are the customer not the other way around.

Appointment made quickly. Repair took almost no time. Contractor was efficient and friendly. Asked a couple of questions on other plumbing matters and he answered. just a good process all around. Warranty was one of the best purchases I have made. Have used it 3 times and each time the process was painless and the contractor chosen was exceptional.

The first service co. assigned to our case did not work in our area. This caused almost a weeks delay as our washing machine service was sent to another repair co. Very frustrating without ability to do laundry.

Hit and Miss with Vendors.
We have been First American Home Warranty for 15 years. Some of the vendors they use are great and others are awful. Wish they were more consistent with screening their vendors. They are responsive when you complain but there is always the additional downtime you, as the customer, have to deal with

-Bought home and purchased home warranty from First American with “First Class Upgrade” and “Central Air Conditioning (electric)” additional coverages.
-Ran into issues with air conditioning system 1 month into warranty and notified First American that heat pump and furnace were not functioning properly
-Paid $75 deductible for First American to send subcontracted technician from Sears Home Services to inspect, diagnose and make recommendations.
-Technician comments on report were, “bad compressor lugs and burnt wiring, recommend replacement, called First American they will dispatch”
-First American sends Furnace Doctor (a local heating and cooling contractor) to repair/replace
-Furnace Doctor leaves comments “York Heat Pump ... has a shorted compressor... very poor shape... fan coil needs to be addressed”
-First American calls and notifies my wife that repairs and/or replacement will not be covered under the warranty as the damage to the unit is “outside normal wear and tear,” and sites Furnace Doctor report. Representative refuses to provide any further details and says he will not provide the Furnace Doctor report.
—My wife asks to speak with a supervisor and rep says “We don’t do that here. We are not paying for this replacement.”
-My wife is flustered by the vague details for rejecting the claim and the abrupt response to a simple request and asks rep to call me to discuss. Rep says “I am not willing to do that.”
-First American did not upload or provide any supporting documentation and closed claim online stating “This claim has been closed/completed.”
-*note, During the 2 months that we have owned the home we have operated the unit approximately 5-10 times and only when the indoor temp got above 78 degrees. Also, we did not self perform any maintenance. The only people who touched the unit since we moved in were both subcontractors hired by First American.
These are the facts. Hope this helps in your decision.

Reason For Cancellation: I have had the same issue with my AC unit for over three years. I have put in over six service calls to get the issue resolved, each time paying the $75 service fee just to have the contractors you hired lie about the issue being corrected when in fact it was not. I spoke with the customer service representatives, they are rude and disrespectful, I really wish that I would be able to meet the gentleman that I spoke with because I know he would not act that way in person. First American does not have the customers best interest in mind, they allow the outside contractors to take advantage of the customers once work needs to be done. The contractors fees are outrageous and extremely expensive, plus they add parts and services that are not needed to correct the problem, It is just another way t get more money out of the customer. When I brought this up to the First American customer service representatives I was told they could not do anything about it so either pay what the contactor is charging and get a payout. The payout amount is a joke and disrespectful. The amount does not even cover the part that needs to be replaced. There are so many other things I could touch base on but I do not want to write a novel. I would like for you to cancel my service with you so that I may find a company that is willing to help their customers when they are in need. Also, during all the times that my AC went out I had children in my house. I expressed that to the customer service representatives but they didn't care. Once was during Hurricane Harvey, the times were in the middle of summer with temperatures rising above 100 degrees during the day. I should have contacted my lawyer but decided not to.

I'm not happy with the length of time it has taken to have an appliance fixed. There is no follow up between when the contractor is selected and the day of service. It's been almost a month thing to get things fixed.

Average. Nothing special. I have had American Home Shield for years. Comparing the two, both equal.

First American has come thru for me on most claims, and the ones they did don’t come thru on, it and as due to the technician not providing them the correct information, which was self serving, knowing the customer needed a repair/replacement, which means quick and easy money for the contractor. I wished they cut out Sears, as they only show up and give the diagnose, but don’t install or do major repairs. Therefore costing the company extra money. More careful vetting of contractors would save time and money for the company, and customers, so they don’t have to pay a contractor fees for doing nothing. Plus it would save the customers a lot of time and hassle. I do recommend FAHW to other home owners.

One of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. The contractor said they could not install the covered part without me paying for the install. He had me talk to the lady from FAHW on the phone and she was super rude and condescending. I would recommend choosing any warranty company other than this one if you can. I bought their highest level coverage and am still having to pay $250 to get something fixed and had to wait over a week to get an appointment because it had to be their person who had nothing available.
