These people took nearly $500.00 of my money and I never heard from them again. Countless emails and phone calls for nearl a year now. The BB decal on the website doesn't even work. I should have known better.

Stay away from this website! It is a SCAM. I paid the Copyright fee plus an extra $99 for fast application processing & Fed Ex overnight delivery. Called them every day for a week & left voice messages for them to call me. I emailed them 3 times as well. I never received any response from this company WHATSOEVER! They never did anything at all for the $134.00 I paid them. After a week I called my credit card company & stopped the charge.

I paid 2 days to trade mark my logo. It's 2 months now and these people have not once called me. Sent me maybe 3 emails total... But every time, it's me having to email them, call them or "contact" them through their website. They have very poor customer service and NO ONE calls back. Last week I called for a refund and the lady on the phone claims to have sent me an email... I hadn't received anything. Then she asked for my email so she can forward to me while on the phone. After that, I replied to the email and all week... NOTHING. Monday, I'll be calling for a refund. Period. I DO NOT recommend this company. STAY AWAY and DO NOT waste your time..!

STAY AWAY FROM DIRECT LEGAL!!
Everything that the previous reviewers said is 100% true. Customer service is poor, so don't ever expect your calls or email to be returned. You just have to keep calling them until you're lucky enough for somebody to pick up.
I had filed for a trademark application and Direct Legal filled in the incorrect class for my application. I spoke with Lorne (who is supposedly the owner of Direct Legal) and he said he was going to look into it. Weeks went by and nobody got back to me on the status of fixing the incorrect information. I then proceeded to email and call them and still no response. My application then got reviewed and approved by USPTO with the error in it, and USPTO says that it can't be amended unless I file a new trademark application otherwise the trademark is not applicable to the class it was filed under.
It's an absolute mess and waste of money dealing with Direct Legal! Learn from my mistake and do not hire DirectLegal for anything! Consider yourself warned.

Directlegal.com is a company started by the same owner (Lorne Eisenstat) who scammed people with GoCopyright.com. When these scam sites become too well known by name, the con man changes the name....now it is DirectLegal.com. (Search "GoCopyright.com" to read about all the scams). The scam is a good one: you pay them hundreds of dollars to copyright something for you, they send an application to the U.S. Copyright office (if you are lucky) and then you find out from the U.S. Copyright office that the application is incomplete (they never submitted your work). It is a while later with all the run around you get and now you have no recourse to dispute the credit card charge. If you look on the Attorney General's website for NY (Media File Feb 9, 2001), you will find that Mr. Lorne Eisenstat is actually a professional, lifetime con man who created a fake company called "National Credit Search" in the late 90's to scam people with poor credit into thinking they would receive an unsecured credit card for the low price of a $79 application fee. None of these people received the credit cards. He had been using a PO box address in NY, he is actually from Quebec. Now he is trying his hand at scamming people into paying for copyright registration that they never do for you.
I tried using their services as I am a musician with original songs I wanted them to copyright for me. You will find when you call DirectLegal.com you will not get a live person on the phone. You leave a message, they do not call you back. They do not return emails if they contain complaints or they will tell you they are working on it to keep you at bay. Any "positive" comments you see on here are fake and written by DirectLegal.com. Don't be fooled by the BBB rating....all you have to do to get a good BBB rating is pay your dues. That's right, companies PAY to get get reviewed positively by BBB. DirectLegal.com will appear legitimate at first glance (professional website) and you will get a "confirmation" email that your order went through, was processed, yada yada, but the legitimacy stops here.

I accidentally ordered the wrong service from DirectLegal.com on November 2nd, 2010. I contacted them that evening by both phone and email. Late the next day I received a single line statement promising a refund "soon". Well, after dozens of calls, all of which go only to VM, and many emails, the merchant has yet to issue a refund for my Visa. Do not trust.
They are purportedly a member of the Better Business Bureau, if that means anything. Tried filing a complaint, only to have the BBB site crap out each time I'd get to the entry form. Finally, I sent the BBB and email and explained my case. I recommend you do the same if DL.com has allegedly ripped you off.

I have tried getting copyrights on 3 occassion for 3 works of music, using Direct Legal. I have yet to receive a single copyright notice. It did receive a notice on the third, that the applicaiton was received by the government, but was missing the material to be copyrighted. The first two have not been processed, and Direct Legal simply has by $400 for the 3 applications, and doesn't seem to respond to e-mail inquirires.
