IF YOU CONSIDER BUYING A COTES PRODUCT, READ THIS.
ALL I GOT NOW IS A USELESS PRODUCT (EQUIPMENT WITH A VALUE OF MORE THAN 20000DKK / 2500€)
Initially I contacted Cotes because I needed a product to dehumidify a garage. I made sure to let their technician know that the Cotes CR120B was to be placed in the attic and from there the CR120B was to be mounted to the garage (130 cubic meters) and to the roof with isolated tubes so the airflow could be correct. After talking to the technician he told me that I could use their backplate for the CR120B so the isolated tubes could be mounted properly to the CR120B.
I ordered the plate with delivery to my address and was told a price of 700 DKK. Afterwards I received a order confirmation where both the unit and shipping costs was a total of 700 DKK. I paid the bill. After a few days I received the backplate and mounted it to the CR120B.
After a few days where the CR120B has been continuously on I checked the DH-24 control unit, and the humidity was still way to high (more than 55). Then I checked the CR120B and saw that water was clearly covering the bottom of the inside of the CR120B because of condensation from the hot air from the garage and the cold air from the outside.
Then I contacted Cotes again and their technician told me that he didn't have any good ideas to how this problem could be eliminated. This was not very satisfying since the technician already was informed about the placement and setup of the CR120B.
Afterwards I received a new order confirmation of 877,5 DKK. When I contacted Cotes, they told me that the difference between 700 DKK and 877,5 DKK was because of the shipping.
I refused to pay this extra bill of 187,5 DKK because I wasn't notified of this at the time of the purchase/placement of the order.
To make sure I was on the right side of the law I reached out to Konkurrence- og Forbrugerstyrelsen (Danish Competition and Consumer Authority) and they agreed with me, that Cotes didn't have any legal rights to send a new revised bill for the same item that was already paid in full in accordance with the initial order and order confirmation.
I informed Cotes about this, but their employee (intern at the finance department) refused to comply.
A few days later i came up with an idea to how I might could get this expensive Cotes unit to work.
The cost of the setup is: CR120B = 14750 DKK + the cost of the DH24 = a total of more than 20000 DKK (more than €2500)
The idea was a new rotor might could resolve the issue regarding the condensation inside the unit itself.
I contacted Cotes and placed the order. I didn't hear anything from them. after a week of silence I reached them at their websites chat function. The employee informed me to send an email to their sales department. After a few days I received a email where I was informed that I have been blacklisted at Cotes because I havn't paid a total of 187,5 DKK from their revised bill.
I contacted them and informed them that I found this to be completely unacceptable as I now have a extremely expensive dehumidifier which didn't work and I couldn't get the spare parts because they have blacklisted me because I didn't pay an extra bill for a product and service that I already have paid for.
Now I know what blackmailing feels like.
An employee at Cotes mailed me a week ago and told me that she could send the case to their CFO.
Since then, total silence once again. And yes... I still have a completely useless and expensive dehumidifier.
Of course I could just pay the bill of 187,5 DKK which isn't much at all (fact is the time I have used on this case could have bought me more than a brand new rotor) However I despise companies with this type of business behaviour and because of that you get this comprehensive review.
This customer experience is surely something to consider if someone ever should need a dehumidifier.
I dare to say that world's best product means absolutely nothing if you have the world's poorest service.
EDIT (1st. June 2017):
The day after the above review I was contacted by email from Cotes. They informed me that I now have the possibility to order the rotor. However the price for shipping would be 300 DKK.
I find it interesting that their shipping rates suddenly have raised 60%.
Furthermore their charge for shipping for such a small product with the dimensions of 25 cm wide, 25 cm long, 6 cm tall and lightweight at 1.2 kilograms, is way more expensive than any other company i have ever came across. Either Cotes has the worst shipping deal with their shipper or else this "shipping cost" is just including a hidden fee to gain even more income on an already overpriced unit.
Either way, this rotor will be the last product I will ever purchase from Cotes A/S.
Today they send me a new order confirmation. Now something is wrong again. According to The Danish Marketing Practices Act §13 businesses must include VAT to prices they inform to private customers. I have a email from Cotes which was set to me on 27th. March 2017 where I was given a price of DKK 2230 for the rotor. On the 31st i got a new email from Cotes where I was given a price for shipping. The price in the email was DKK 300.
Now the must embarrassing thing of this isn't actually that Cotes don't know the The Danish Marketing Practices Act (and it's even a Danish based company. I just wish them Gods speed with foreign law as they don't even comply or know the law in their own country). No, the most embarrassing thing of their lack of discipline is actually that if you take the initially DKK 187,5 they wanted to charge me, and deduct the VAT you get DKK 150. 150 times 2 is 300. And guess what, DKK 300 plus VAT is DKK 375. Hold on guys... 375 divided by 2 is 187,5 and this is exactly what Cotes just tried to trick me into paying. In other words, Cotes just tried to put a double shipping fee on my order... And they got caught! What an embarrassment. SERIOUSLY, COTES A/S, SHAME ON YOU!
BTW, i added their CEO to my initial review, and now after these two last updates, I'll add him again to make sure this review finds it's way to someone which should have a responsibility.
