Signed up for promotional plan. Was told would continue at promotional rate. Nope, jumped immediately to higher plan with no way to cancel online and for anyone busy running a business their hours suck. Do not be suckered in. Use someone else. They are a piece of crap company that just constantly bills you. A reputable good company allows for online cancellation as well as upgrade.

I used Constant Contact for 2 years. Then one of my X-employees logged into the account and changed the ownership to their name. Constant Contact refused to turn it back over even though I had the account for 2 years and was paying for it. They stole my whole contact list and gave it to a competitor. I called the legal department and they refused to even look into it. CAUTION you could loose your entire business and still pay them $60 a month to do it.

constantly calls you every week even after you tell them you selected another provider. never give them a real phone number. their behavior is criminal. repeated phone calls after telling them to stop calling you is criminal harassment. these people should be in prison.

Is used by phishers to send fake "your account is being shut down" emails, using screenshots of actual emails with attached links, Constant Contact doesn't seem to have done much to curb this or acknowledged it at all, on account of blacklisting of them being as early as 2009.
I've also seen many examples of them having a misleading trial policy.
P.S. said phishers use multiple emails so the included unsubscribe button on all Constant Contact emails doesn't actually do anything.

Avoid at any price. I have been with Constant Contact for a few months now and had no problem. Yesterday they suspended my account as they need to check what I am sending (educational staff to students). The guy was going over the phone in every single bit of an email and commenting word for word, like the policeman.
He then asked me to change certain bits in an email I have done the changes, spent 4 hours writing new content.
When I wrote new content I called them again to enable my account, and they said to me that they cannot provide me with further service that I need to close my account.
Incredible, proper cowboys, my business is heavily affecting by these guys now.
Do not use this service if your business depends on email addresses. I wish that I could give 0 star.

Be careful with this prank company. I started my free trial planning to test the platform and quit if I don't like it. But they charged me for monthly subscription 5 days before my trial expired. Because, how they explained, "it says like that in T&Cs" which are hidden somewhere on the site. I sent them email asking for the refund straight away but they never replied because (again their explanation) "they don't have the team who handle that kind of queries". But why the heck you have contacted form on the website??? I expected at least a reply. Today I finally called them because I couldn't find the option to cancel the contract (which doesn't exist so you have to call them) and successfully managed to leave this so-called company. I am sure their main income is coming from the cheated customers because their customer support is horrible. Stay away from them and keep using the reliable email marketers. Who knows what kind of "hidden T&Cs" you haven't read

I, like many other users, signed up for a free trial with CC. Thinking I would have a week or 2 to figure out if the system was going to work for our company. I created our account and profile and within minutes of signing up I recieved a call from Andy and he wanted to chat about how I was going to use CC and how he could help. It turns out he couldn't help, until I signed up for a paid subscription. I do a lot of the social media and communications for our company, but I can not authorize purchases, so trying to sell me on anything was a waste of time. I would be more likely to sign up if the calls were about enhancing my user experience, or actually working with me to set up email campaigns. However, every morning Andy calls me to talk about the types of accounts I can purchase. It's a little more than frustrating. Other than that, the program itself is pretty self explanatory. The interface is good and pretty intuitive. Although I've yet to have an experience with customer service that doesn't revolve around selling a subscription, so I can't speak to how helpful technical support is because I'm always rerouted to sales (unless there is only one type of customer service that exists- sales).

Wanted to cancel my account as I have no need for it anymore. Couldn't find anyway to cancel it from their website (which tbh it's a hassle), so I contacted customer support. Spoke with Balachandra R, and even if it wasn't the right department I was speaking to he helped me and sent my request to the right department and he answered all my questions.
Very helpful and really appreciated it!

I signed up for the premium plus package and was very excited to use this company for promotions. My number one red flag was over the weekend when I had just inserted their plug in to my blog. I was unable to access my widgets after that so I opened the chat box and the lady didn't even know what a widget was.
Then I uploaded all of my contacts to their site and they said they were all spam. Which i know for a fact is not true. I called the billing department and ended the partnership immediately. I don't think they have a clue about what they are doing here.

I signed up for a trial and didn't get an email to tell me that the trial was ending or that I would automatically be charged monthly when it expired. We had decided not to use the software but the company were unwilling to discuss a refund when we were charged in error, they just wouldn't budge and the customer service was terrible. Compared to other software providers in this space they seem stuck in the past when it comes to charging policies and service.

Cannot believe the tactics this company uses. I signed up for a free trial after I had had a friend tell me they use this service or their email list. IMMEDIATELY I get berated by telemarketing calls TWICE A DAY and they would not stop calling asking for me to upgrade my trial. Like Jesus Christ - I think I'd like to use my free trial before handing you guys my credit card on day 2 of a 60-day free trial? I am really upset with the disrespect I received after telling the person over the phone that they were being extremely pushy, only to be called again and again. I promptly canceled service after they continued to call constantly after I had said "do not call again" only to be told that they had been so extreme in their tactics because they had felt "something was holding me back from upgrading." Yeah, no kidding, it's your disturbing telemarketing calls. My partner, who witnessed most of the calls was deeply annoyed and had suggested I cancel on the first or second call. Definitely should have taken that advice. Joke of a company. They're really not kidding about staying in "constant contact" with you while you're busy trying to run an actual business.
Would NEVER RECOMMEND to ANYBODY. It's a shame because had I not been so harassed I would have enjoyed some of the features of the service.

The easiest integration but not very feature heavy. A great starter option not super great for a/B testing or anything complex.

I'm like the other people here - signed up for free and immediately got a call and they then put me paying $30 month when I didn't want it. The without my knowledge it went up to $65. They don't have a cancel option online (super scammy) and that took more than an hour to cancel with someone who was horribly condescending and insulting. Then I actually was stupid enough to give them another try because they offered 6 months free. So I did it sending one email. They cancelled my account after one email sent to my subscribers. Ugh stay away from this horrible company.

Spent the entire morning working on a newsletter for my workgroup. Went to lunch, came back to my desk and I had been logged out of my account due to inactivity. Not a problem. Just log back in, right? WRONG. They had CANCELED my account without ANY warning or ANY justification. I'm at work, at my desk, and they found a 'security loophole' that was a 'threat'. I've no idea what they are talking about and neither does my workplace. I was actually going to signup with them, until this incident. THe person on the phone said I had lost all my work and my account was erased. Just absolutely disgusted. Goodbye ConstantContact! I'm looking elsewhere for my newsletter needs.

Poor service, poor product and general bad experience from these guys, poor usability and general integration with other top CRM providers. Main USP is Bullhorn integration (rectruitment CRM) and that never worked properly.
Find an alternative provider there are plenty out there...

We're ok in the beginning, but charged me without using the service. Spoke with and they don't care about doing the right thing. Calling to cancel while on hold 20 minutes. They call this customer service. CEO is a mental midget, you think?

I signed up for Constant Contact to see if it was right for my business. In less than five minutes an employee, Ian Wheeler, was calling me asking if I needed help.
I politely told him I had not even had a chance to take a look at the site but I would contact him if I needed assistance. I explicitly told him not to call us, we would call him.
Ian called at least 4 more times after that- though it could be more because I ended up telling my coworkers to stop taking his messages. This was in the span of a week.
Each time he called, I politely told him not to call us, it disrupts our works day and I would reach out if I needed him. The last time we talked, he made several passive aggressive comments towards both my company and my role in the company.
Because of this unprofessional call, I decided to end my trial with CC. I called and had my account ended with a different employee, citing the reason for why I am no longer interested being Ian's, what I would now classify as, harassment. It was confirmed by said employee that my account was closed.
Ian called several more times after that. I took at least two more calls from him- before he even had a chance to talk to me I told him, now firmly "please do not call us again."
Today he called yet again and I hung up on him again after telling him not to call us. I then emailed him to put in writing not to contact us anymore as well as to forward this request to his supervisor, including replying to the very email I was writing.
Ian did not respect that request and decided the following quote was appropriate:
"I will forward this over to him immediately. I wish you all the best. It is too bad you don’t have time for a 5 minute phone call with an industry expert to help better your business. But I guess we are where we are for a reason."
I responded again telling him to stop and that this was unprofessional.
Ian then decided to call our company once more and leave a passive aggressive voicemail telling us our "free trial has expired"- weird since I cancelled my account entirely several days prior.
I ended up blocking CC's number and Ian Wheeler's email due to the harassment.
I am livid at this point. Three times Ian Wheeler has made insulting comments about my company and countless times he has harassed us after being told explicitly not to contact us the very first time we spoke.
It appears as though the employees of this company have issues listening to customer requests, and while I have submitted a complaint on CC's facebook page I have no confidence this will be passed on to the correct person.
This company hires unprofessional employees who are clearly not paid enough as they are so focused on sales they harass a single small business for over a week straight and make rude personal comments towards us during the entire process.
Do not use this company. There are several others who do the same thing: Drip, Convertkit, Aweber, GetResponse, MailChimp and ActiveCampaign to name a few. It is not worth the headache.
Edit: Reading the reviews I see I am far from the only one who has had almost this exact experience.
Edit 2: The owner of Constant Contact called me to personally apologize for this experience and assured me they will not call again. Because of this I have decided to take my 1 star rating and change it to a 3 star rating. I appreciate the apology.

Overall, I would have to say we have had a pleasure using their service, but have had a number of issues that required us to get support, and support was one of the most tedious parts of the service. Our email list is only around 15,000 so I know we're not one of the major players on their radar, but while they make it easy to send out emails, they don't do a great job of communicating changes or issues with their services. Since we do a lot of timely communications on new deals and what-not, having an email take six hours to go out can be the difference between success and failure for a campaign. In many cases, people end up opting out because they are tired of getting emails after a deal is already over. We would probably move away from them if we weren't too much tied to their system. Considering hiring someone part-time to help us move to another platform and to re-design our emails.

Just joined with them, paid them 58 USD and they blocked me from sending the emails I wanted, even before I started. Their ”system” cannot even differ from the business domain and public domains. Quite a shame. I have been in touch with their support, who offer me the option to get some call from somebody in 24 hours. Wow, I cannot believe such poor business practice are still working in this day and age.

Paid these guys over $10,000 and cant even contact them.
We have been with constant contact for many years, and normally is works ok. But they deliberately make it hard to contact them (they expect you to call them just to cancel and keep you on hold for ages), which means that when you have massive problems with them like this week (their systems were not working and we have been unable to send our email marketing at ALL this week), it is almost impossible to get resolved, which when you have given them over $10,000 isn't good in my opinion.
As an update have just had an email saying my account has been cancelled, again with no communication from support. What I really really really want to do IS SEND MY EMAIL MARKETING.
