Spectrum internet has gone from ok, to bad, to terrible, to NOW, several states are beginning a class action suit for falsified speeds.
I had AT$T internet in 2009-2012 which was slow, but workable and I received $71 in a class action.
Spectrum will speak politely, however, after 2 years and a price increase from $39.95 to $65.95.
I use Mint Mobile cell phone data to stream tv and movies, because Spectrum internet cannot reach buffer speeds, it stated as a 100 Mbps.

If you have an alternative in your service area, pursue it. Have been a Charter/Spectrum customer for 16 years and looking forward to severing my relationship some day. Spectrum released their app for TV service before it was ready. If you speak with a tech support agent who prefers integrity, they’ll admit the app has been a problem for them. And they want us to subscribe cellular service? Not an a option

Not having much choice in my area, & on the recommendation of one of their customers (who has equally limited choice in providers), I called Spectrum, placed my order, paid up front. The order was placed, the equipment was shipped, THE ORDER WAS CANCELLED ALONG WITH MY ACCOUNT the very next day! Spectrum cancelled, not me.
When I moved into my new place, the equipment was there but I couldn't find the necessary cable in the house to do a "self-install" so I called Spectrum. They claimed they had to create an entirely NEW order & arrange for installation, which they did.
2 days later, a fellow arrives... WITH MORE EQUIPMENT! When I told him I already HAVE Spectrum equipment, he had to call in & go through more hoops & loops than I care to enumerate. After about 30 minutes, SOMEBODY made the necessary "adjustments" to credit me with my previous payment & the installation moved along. The fellow installed new cable and the original modem/router & moved along.
The very next day I received, via e-mail, a bill: for installation AND the equipment again! I called "Customer Service" & got a rather curt, impolite dissertation on what I owed & why but NO consideration of the double charges for equipment. It took almost 3 weeks & a "promise" not a "threat", to report the incident to the local Attorney General. BINGO! No charge for the equipment. (They obviously don't like Attorneys General for some reason. Suspicious, I must say.)
A couple of days later, I was in the basement & noticed a "cable". Ah HAH! The installer installed a NEW cable & completely ignored the fact that there was proper & sufficient cable already installed (from the previous resident, I was to later learn). All that needed to be done was to trace the cable into the house & install, NOT a complete installation process!
Never mind. I was exasperated (as I'm sure is their intention in the first place) from the ordeal already suffered. I'd gotten the basic package & a land-line telephone service which is a necessity & at considerably less that the local "telephone company" charges for considerably less service. I ate the loss, as it were.
Next thing I know, I'm getting the hard-sell: Add this! Double that! More is more! More costs less! I'd made it perfectly & over-abundantly clear I wanted the "basic" as advertised, I do NOT want "streaming, beaming, gaming, glowing, flowing, TV, house-keeping, linen service, car wash, dog-walking, window-wiping, gardening, &c." Just what was advertised at the price quoted, full stop, period.
Meanwhile, the service was, admittedly, quite impressive... for the first month. It's going on 3 months now & I notice drops in service. NOT exactly the greatest whilst "shopping" on-line or working with my financials, not to mention, I maintain several web-sites I've built for others & in mid-transmission, I'm off-line. When I check the modifications made, they're not there! Oops! Spectrum dropped service! No explanation other than "You must have a short or something at the address." Gee... not interested in checking the lines, the service, your end, the equipment? "My fault. My problem."
Billing. Oddly enough, for the past 3 months it's been exactly the same: I check my account (on-line), pay the amount due & the very next day, instead of getting a confirmation of payment... I receive, via e-mail, A BILL! I pay on-line, using Spectrum service to pay Spectrum & the very next day I receive the bill for the amount I've paid. THEN, the very next day following, I receive ANOTHER bill... for the amount I've already paid. Were I not paying attention, or were I receiving paper bills, were I not a person of sharp wits, I could easily see double paying... AGAIN... as they tried to pull on the original order & installation.
I've asked other customers & they've had similar experiences.
When the service works, it works very well, indeed. But best advice to prospective customers is: Be VERY aware of EVERY step taken at the installation & going forward. And has already been mentioned here in other reviews, check your bills with utmost scrutiny. If Spectrum can, Spectrum will grab what they can bamboozle you out of. (Were they not the only service available in the local area, short of "satellite" services, Spectrum would be in serious straits, to be sure.)
One lesson to note: I had to notify (not "threaten") them that I would take my own issue to the Attorney General before getting any sort of respectful response. I'll leave this review at that.

I was moving and called in 2 weeks prior for a 12-14-2018 installation, The lady which was still living in the home I was moving to called and asked why I was disconnecting her cable?
NO ONE SHOWED UP ON 12-14-18!
I did call Spectrum on 12-14-18 and told them if they did not come on Monday the 17th just to forget the order. Well, they did come in the afternoon of 12-17-18.
As I stated I did move in on 12-14th. I received my bill 3 weeks approximately. The amount of the bill was $543. I went to Spectrum immediately! ( I had no previous charges and HAD returned any and all equipment)
The lady I spoke with could not find any reason for such charges.
She did contact someone by phone, and they stated not to pay anything at this time. Later the following week I did pay $167.00 and a couple of weeks later I did pay $168.00. She also informed me my bill was $163.00 per month, and I now ow approximately
I am 73 years of age, and feel I have paid all I need to.
I did return all equipment. The lady I was speaking with reviewed my bill, and stated not to pay anything until I received my final bill.
I will never deal with this company AGAIN!

Spectrum Specialist David kept telling me they have no hidden fees, like other cell phone companies. I had not called regarding cell phone service, I had called on TV service. I was very interested in what he was telling me regarding the cell phone service, but I asked him about what I originally called on;Spectrum Lifestyle TV and Internet for 74.98 a month for 12 months. Well after an hour and a half, he says my monthly bill would be 84.99 a month, I said no it says 74.98 a month for 12 months right here in the letter I received. He says well there's a 4.99 DVR monthly charge and the rest is taxes. I asked how much are the taxes? He put me on hold for a while; came back and said well there is the 4.99 DVR charge and 11.99 Broadcast fee a month, really no hidden fees at Spectrum and these two charges added to the 74.98 do not equal 84.99. So I ask to speak to a supervisor, I get Ashley and she doesn't care at all that the letter says 74.98 she says it is what it is and you don't have to accept it, contact the Better Business Bureau if you have a complaint. I asked for a Manager, she told me there is no Manager available and just contact BBB. I again asked for a Manager, she finally transferred me to Greg. Who I explained everything all over again. He says well with taxes you are looking at 103.13 a month for the service. You have got to be kidding me, for a plan that is advertised as 74.98 a month? This is outrageous and someone needs to stop it. They should be made to honor the prices they are advertising, not be alllowed to add another 30 dollars a month to your bill for something that is supposed to be a wonderful deal for being such a great customer! Edited: According to the BBB the company responded to my complaint by going over the charges with me and that the charges are correct 103.13 for Internet and Lifestyle TV for 12 months, not the advertised 74.98. I did not accept their solution, they offered service for 74.98 and that's what they need to provide, I will pay additional taxes for the service but I will not add broadcast charges that should already be included in their package deal. I pay nothing for the service I have now, why would I want to pay them additional fees for one extra channel then what I am getting now? There is nothing in their advertisment that explains why they charge additional broadcasting fees and if I pay nothing now, why would I go with a company that wants to charge me a 74.98 fee plus all these other fees. Stop lying to the public!
