CD Baby is the worst experience I've ever had in my entire life!
After 3 months of trying to promote my music everywhere on the internet. CD Baby just decided to block my account and remove my music everywhere as well! They didn't even bother telling me the reason for this madness!! CD Baby if you are reading this please do something!!! I will edit my rating if you resolve this issue!!
Update! 2 long weeks after they replied to this review and still nothing. Come on CD Baby don't be like this my music are still displaying ads on my friends video on youtube. Please! Give me my money!

CDBaby Really helps me distribute my music on time and i get all my , royalties every month on time. Spotify normally by 5th and 11th, apple by 1st to 5h, youtube content id early of the month. CDBaby does have all the statistics and reports feature where other distro doesnt have. Well my experience with CDBaby is awesome. 5 Stars service all the time.

They deceived Over 10000 USD from me
I have my music earned over 10k dollar from the royalties fee of my demonetized YouTube channel.
I thought it was going to transfer to my Payoneer Account.
They blocked my account and i won't able to login in. The money never got transferred !

I just wanted to make a statement that CDBABY REALLY WORKS AND DOESNT CHEAT! I REALLY GET THE PARTICULAR/SPECIFIC PAYMENT FOR EACH OF MY SONGS! You just have to make sure that you DONT CHEAT TO GET THE ROYALTIES. Let REAL Listeners listen to your music and buy your music. CDBABY Report every details of it and the support was awesome with backup from artist support staff. And there is no other distro can help publish your music faster than CDBABY, normally i submitted and the songs will be at all platform within 4-5 days depends on when you want it release. Ticket into the void.
I wanted to release an album. I am stupid so I bought the PRO distribution because I automatically assumed I had to buy the most expensive option.
Of course it was the wrong choice, I just needed the standard distribution. I opened a ticket, they answered telling me to submit another ticket, as they have a proper "downgrade from pro to standard" option. After 10 days, two more tickets, two e-mails, and even a message on their facebook page, they haven't replied. In order not to miss my scheduled release date I bought another release, this time with the correct standard distribution. So far it seems go proceed smoothly but as I write 12 days have passed and I still had no reply on my original ticket. I am considering claiming a refund through paypal but I am afraid it will block the correct release, but at the same time now if they downgrade the first submission from pro to standard I will have two of the same albums out at the same time? Only time will tell.
I still give 3 stars because despite the slow customer service, it was me who did the wrong thing in the first place.
Apart from that the website is easy, it works, I like it, will use it again now that I know which distribution I need!
Edit: they reached out to me and fixed everything!

I am really demoralized, I opened 6 tickets for more than 20 days, they never answered me !!! I have a paid and stopped Album for 2 weeks and I can't publish it because they blocked it and I can't contact them. They leave you in the dark most absolved without having answers, bad service !!! I think I'll change the distributor. I am very sorry I have always sponsored cdbaby I don't understand what happened to him but so it is not possible to go on !!!!

I wish I could rate a 0 because it was for 1 High just to distribute through the company verses what I was told I’ll be paying before all the additional tax and fees. Also they was taking the highest percentage I’ve ever seen of a payout from the royalties that’s earned unto the artist. Then on top of that they never paid for my royalties earning I had worked hard for and earned which was very humiliating, unbearable and unprofessional on they behalf because as an independent artist that person is investing in self 100 percent completely verses a company or someone investing in them and for them not to pay me my money I earned and worked for it’s a disgrace. So I’ll rate them unprofessional untruthful and kept innocent people money away from them that was earned through hard work ethics.

They don't pay.
They don't even show you the total amount of downloaded albums from their different partners like iTunes, Amazon and Google.
Even after more than 6 months they don't show you how many sales you had... so, as a consequence, you don't even get paid.
They keep the money from your sales.
And they say that this does not depend on them but on their partners... it's fraud, never use this.

The support is virtually non-existent. It might take weeks to get a reply from them, which is unacceptable as we have our own due dates, people's salaries depend on releases, etc.
How can you charge money and then do literally nothing about the issues that arise?
In our case, we were trying to release an album,but then the site could find Artist ID for one of the featured artists (who had already released music on iTunes and so on). Secondly, the titles got screwed up - we could name the album in all caps (which wasn't a problem in our previous release!) and one of the songs in all caps (which, I repeat, we had already done through CDBaby).
It's a shame, really.

I have no idea how big this company is or how many requests they have to sift through but I do know that a monster company like Apple or even Google can manage to reply within a 24 hour period.
It has literally been 6 days and still nothing from them. Some community experts on their forums said it would take 4-6 days so try to be patient. Ok, gotcha.
Truly have non-existent customer service via the web and I have no idea how to reach a human. What should be a very very simple problem to resolve before our release seems to now be stuck in a rabbit hole, but WHY?

I just discovered CD baby is selling my album on an Australian site for $20 as a special product. I am confused they have CD baby listed as the label. There was an actual label when this was released 10 years ago. But the band broke up and no has been paying attn. So I guess it's an opportunity to take advantage...something doesn't sound right here. Are they stealing music?

We've submitted our album for review to CDBaby which was sent to their inspection process pretty much instantly. The next day we were met with an e-mail stating that they identified one of us as a famous artist and that we would need to provide contracts/agreements that we were actually working with the artist. None of us, however, are in any way famous beyond our local scene, and we've actually been quite surprised this happened. We're pretty much just five random guys from Serbia playing music. We replied promptly, asking for clarification of the situation and further info on how to help fix the issue, given that we were given absolutely no info aside from "You're working with a famous artist, please provide proof."
We've received NO proper reply in more than three weeks.
We sent in several tickets and all have been replied to in a very bot-like manner pretty much instantaneously, as if nobody even read the tickets we sent in. It's very bad considering the album distribution fees were paid in full on the very day of submission.
The pre-order date was missed and the release date is apparently going to be missed as well. If this happens we'll be filing for a refund and will kick down the rating to 1 star.
UPDATE: Turns out CDBaby have an automatic blacklist system for some performer names and you might have to call their offices to sort it out and let them know you're not the actual blacklisted artist, since they won't reply to blacklisted senders. Only problem is, I had to call across the globe. The phone service is superb, however, completely opposite of their e-mail support.
Had I been aware of that, all frustration might have been avoided. Currently, the release is back on inspection. I set the rating to 3 because their inspection messages are absolutely vague and users might not be aware of certain mechanisms CDBaby might have in place against fraud/whatever. We'll see what happens next.

Worst distribution out of all I worked with. A lot of hidden costs, irregular reporting, payout delays. Very shady company. The amounts they pay are about 40% lower than they should be judging by the number of streams. They would charge you even for ISRC which is just baffling. Glad I only got 1 upload with them.

Terrrible customer service. I have a simple change to make in my listing of "collecting vs, non-collecting" songwriters. I submitted a help request ticket on August 22 and it's now over a month later and I have received ZERO response. I have used CDBaby since 2006 and they used to be great to work with. Not any more!

It used to work really well. But my latest releases are completed messed up. They don’t distribute certain languages on certain platforms without telling you upfront, but refunds are allowed, so I applied for a refund and only got a bot reply. The bot asked me to apply via the link I already did, so I did again and received another bot reply asking me to do the same. And then their Expert answered me by asking me to do the link again, so I did the link again and received another bot reply, and this has become a loop forever. My money is with them and they refuse to refund.

Everything else on a site becomes irrelevant when they can't operate a simple login portal or reset passwords (which they force you to do then fail to follow through on).
I've been waiting 9 days to resolve or even have them acknowledge this simple issue. I know I have the correct email address because I have their sales reports for us coming in.
Worse than this, their slow service means I could get in trouble uploading our work somewhere else because I can't even login to cancel the account! How many ways can you f*^k bands you ar#%holes!?!?!?

I have not been payed out any money from cd baby, even though my account has over 100 dollars on it. I mailed them 3 weeks ago and still no answer. And 3 weeks ago I lost access to my account. When I type my password it says its wrong, and when I try to reset my password, I do not get any mail. I dont know if the whole system is broken or something but I cant access my account, cant get my money and cant release new songs.

DO NOT USE CD BABY. They lied and scammed me. I decided to use CD Baby for the first time back in April. I thought it would be good based on certain reviews, but I was so wrong. My album that was finished in the beginning of April, has yet to be released by them and its JULY. First, their customer service is trash. They either give you an automated answer that does not answer your question or they just completely ignore you. I submitted requests to customer service over 10 times, only to get a human response ONCE. And guess what? When I did, he said he would get back to me with other help and two weeks passed with no answer or emails back. Second, I paid for my album in full and had everything ready to submit. The release date was a month ahead, so it gave them plenty of time to review my piece and get back to me. I submit my album and receive NO EMAILS or anything. A week passes and I decide to contact them. No answer. Finally, the album release date comes and NO ALBUM. Not only was I upset, but my fans waiting for it were as well. If this isn't bad, it gets worse. Usually there is a button to go back and edit your album and release date after you submit it, so this is what I was going to do since the release date for my album already passed. To my surprise, what they had done was completely remove the button so I could not change anything. My album was just sitting there doing nothing. I tried hard for two months after this to contact them or get help or even get a refund. This is one of the few times I have cried in my life. I'm a broke college student making music and I saved up all my money from my minimum wage job just for it to get stolen. THEY STOLE A $100 FROM ME. IGNORED ME WHEN I ASKED FOR HELP AND A REFUND. CDBABY IS THE WORST SERVICE I'VE EVER USED. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DON'T GET SCAMMED BY CD BABY

I have been waiting almost a month for CD baby to reply to my several urgent emails about their major cock up on my latest release. I have heard nothing! I cannot believe their total unprofessional and am shocked. Firstly they mess up my release and then do absolutely nothing about it and ignore all my emails! Tell me what kind of organisation is this! Unbelievable - I will go a lot further than emails if I continue to hear nothing back. The worst company I have ever dealt with in my entire life. I have used this company for several years I will do so never again.

Like others on this site I have been waiting a month for a response to my original email to them trying to clarify an issue so that my cd can be released. In spite of them sending a generic message about how happy they are to hear from me and promising to get back within a week I have not heard word one. I have asked for a refund of my $69 but at this point don't expect I'll ever see that. Avoid CD baby. Used to be good. Not so now.

I can't log in to my account and I've been waiting several weeks for someone on the support to anwser my requests but there's noone that helps. Music has been my main income for a time but right now I can't reach the money on my account on CDbaby. Extremly frustration. I've used most of the distribution companies on the market and CDbaby is by faaaaaar the absolutley worst company of them all. Save your money and go to an other music distributor instead, where they actually care about you and are willing to help you with basic stuff as logging in to your account.

This used to be my go to company for Indie music publishing. I recently paid $106 to publish an album. I had meticulously prepared the songs to the technical specifications, gotten commercial quality art prepared for album cover, etc. I set a date two months in advance for the release. Three weeks go by, and I get what appears to be an automated message saying you claimed to have composed and produced this but you will have to verify this, and we don’t like your cover art, but we’re not exactly sure why. I replied as best as I could to these vague and unfounded complaints. Three more weeks, no word. As an Indie artist, $106 is a lot of money. That is about 750,000 streams at what CD Baby pays me. The customer support is terrible, simply terrible. I heard that the company was bought out in March. There does appear to be a change for the far worse. To add injury to insult, there login site was down for over a week. Don’t get me started on there “robo-chat” at least it lets you know that it is wasting your time and money. STAY AWAY FROM THIS RIPOFF.
