BetterHelp Put My Wellbeing In My HandsBetterHelp made it easy to find a therapist, they were flexible when I needed to change. I know my wellbeing is in my hands and there are always people to help. I love my therapist and I love the journal option for keeping track of my own growth. I started seeking a therapist in 2019 then stopped, then re-opened the app in October 2022 in crisis, then stopped, then returned in December of 2022. Not interested in BetterHelp's serviceKind of disappointed with BetterHelp's practice. I'm in a really dark place in my life right now and could use some therapy. I decided to try BetterHelp after seeing multiple commercials about it on TV. When I signed up, I was assigned a therapist before I entered my payment info. I saw an option to be reassigned another therapist (because the one I was assigned to first wasn't satisfactory to me) and I selected that. It has now been almost a month since I selected that option and I have yet to hear any update on who my new therapist will be. I guess I may have to enter my payment info first before I get assigned someone new. Maybe that's their tactic they use to get your payment info and start charging you. I'd rather wait to provide that until I get assigned a therapist to my liking. But I don't believe BetterHelp wants to play like that. Leaving me uncomfortable and skeptical about ever using them in the future. Right now, I'm left to deal with my issues on my own while finding other alternatives to BetterHelp. Pros and consBetterHelp was my first experience with any kind of therapy. The cons: I didn’t care much for the therapist that was assigned to me, but was glad I got to choose a different therapist. Sessions are only 40 minutes, which SUCKS because you’re just getting into things at 40 minutes! At the very least it should be 60 minutes. So for the expensive, out of pocket price (not covered under any insurance) not sure it’s worth it. The pros: I love the therapist I have now. She’s always a message away and knowledgable. The group sessions are also good, although I wish there more available in the evenings for people who work all day. The group sessions let you know you’re not alone in your struggles. Better help is a scamBetter help is literally ONLY therapy services. If you think you’ll want a formal diagnosis or any type of medication or further support beyond talking to someone, seek help elsewhere. This service is quite expensive for the lack of care they provide as a service. Over $300/month for one session a week is predatory. But literally anyone can get financial assistance! (40% discount!) they don’t ask for any proof of income, maybe like 10 ish questions to fill out, get that discount if you haven’t already and don’t have insurance!! If you have insurance I would strongly suggest waiting to get into an office near you. The only reason I even signed up is because I didn’t have insurance and this service was available to those without. I will not recommend this service to anyone. Chat functionThe biggest upside to BetterHelp is, that you don't only have your 45 minute sessions with your therapist, but also the chat function. It makes it easier to be able to give perspective and say your story to your therapist, and you can use the sessions to actually work on these problems instead of having to explain them. Therapist accused my loving boyfriend of cheatingMy therapist wasted a lot of my sessions asking random questions like what I’m watching on TV etc. when I spoke about my worries about my relationship, he told me my boyfriend ‘probably’ was hiding another wife/girl from me (my issues were nothing to do with infidelity and my partner never cheated, just other minor issues!). Great therapistThe therapist that they allocated to me was very good. She provided valuable feedback and was very kind and supportive. Waste of money for very little helpThe app have a few glitches at the beginning. Every time I tried to video call the therapist it got told there was a technical issue. I was led to believe you could always message and then 1 call a week. I had 3 text chats in a month for around £200. I've genuinely wasted My Money. The application needs improvement.I’ve just had my first session with the therapist that was assigned to me. I went into with a lot sceoticism but I have to say I really liked them. However for me the app needs big improvements. There is a lot of lagging and it is very slow. I can compare it to the applications that I used to install when the first iPhone came out.
