Rude staff. A driver was rude to me because I had not seen the new contactless 'machine' and I did not know if my card was contactless. It was the gentleman behind me who helped. I tried to use Resolver to get a response from Arriva and even that was useless.
We are encouraged to use public transport but that is not going to happen if we are going to be abused. Apart from this it is often an irregular service which is not fair to those who have to rely on them.
Why is Arriva allowed to operate buses so ineffectually?

Get bullied into overtime dont you dare have a family and try and work for these clowns you wont see anyone in your family only when they are asleep. Go through "managers" like no tomorrow only the decent ones leave lie about pay lie about holidays lie about rotas lie about alot really buses are old and constantly breaking down due to the company "saving money" they dont care how long you have worked for them they will get rid of you your in the firing line as soon as you reach top pay level certain drivers get privalidge over other drivers. Make you feel like one tiny incident is gonna cost you your job the line of work you are bound to have accidents wont pay you when you leave. Would happily see me miss hospital appointments for my disabled son just to cover shifts because the same people would ring in sick every week. Will happily take money off your wages each week because they think no one checks payslips countless drivers down 50-90 pounds a week and then will leave you penniless on your last week of work because they have deducted money for holidays you've had or make up some fable story

While most of the drivers are pleasant, some can be uncooperative and stubborn. The customer service team is understaffed and incompetent. The last time I rang up for a ticket inquiry I was placed 26th in the queue to speak to the customer service team. When I finally got through to the customer service they were unorganised and were incapable of completing their jobs. This doesn’t even cover the issue of constant systemic delays. I am actively excited for the opening of a stage coach line on my route so I no longer have to deal with this poor inefficient company.

Not very reliable at times when you need them. The ride can be bumpy or annoying at times especially if your tired and want to take a nap during your ride. But each bus has WI-FI built in it which can ease your boredom. The only thing this company is missing is USB ports for chargers. If USB ports were put on buses, it would help a lot of people with their daily life's.

Very rude drivers in Leeds 201 route
1. They miss the stops even if stop button is pressed and don't accept their mistake.
2. Didn't allow me to board the bus because we had no change and only had £20 note, had to wait for next bus (30 min) in a windy weather with kids.
3. I was asked to pay higher fare than the actual fair fare.

Complained twice to them to report two cases of a driver not turning up and it was the last bus on the timetable, leaving me stranded in the dark. Never received a reply and this was a good 5 months ago. Terrible customer service.

Terrible service and the buses break down more than me at 3am, that's a feat and a half, let me tell you.

I haven't had more trouble with a company before, i bought an arriva connect annual card but it hasn't been working on buses and the customer service reply every 3 day which is £9.90 of tickets where I've already paid £512 for an annual. The customer service team have tried to grant me a weekly ticket as a gesture but that hasn't come through either. Its actually quite embarrassing really.

Not a great customer service. I bought a ticket online and when tried to print it their site crashed. I tried it again and was told my ticket had already been redeemed. Tried to call customer service but they weren't working on the weekend.
On the bus, I explained the situation to the driver (showing him the receipt purchased just minutes prior). The driver told me he couldn't do anything and I had to buy another ticket.
On Monday I contacted customer service. Explained everything and they asked me to show a picture of the ticket I had to buy on the bus. It turns out I am an ordinary human who isn't in the habit of taking pictures of bus tickets. I still had my credit card receipts and send that over via email. They stopped replying.
It's been almost two months and my ticket remains unrestored.

joke of a company. Buses regularly don't turn up with no explanation. When they do turn up they stink and are overcrowded. When waiting 20+ minutes for a bus at peak times (a regular occurrence), expect it to be a single decker where everyone is packed together like sardines.
Drivers are rude, expect them to laugh at you / swear at you / generally treat you like you've just burned down their house if you have the audacity to try paying with a note. Prices are ridiculously expensive considering the lacklustre service.

Twice in the past week multiple buses I have been waiting for have just not shown up. And the ones that did have been running more than 10 minutes late. Given how expensive arriva are by comparison to other companies you would expect them to try to be value for money, however this does not appear to be their goal.

The rating is one star because I can't award zero stars. Terrible company and even worse customer service.
I brought a ticket with my Debit card in May of this year. The driver said that it had been declined. I thought this was strange as there was enough money in the account. I accepted it as a glitch.
I went into my online banking and found out that the money had been taken our my account. I notified Arriva Buses immediately and two months later they decided to reply to tell me to go to my bank and get them to chase it.
Because I was never given a receipt to say the transaction was declined my bank couldn't help but they gave me the authorisation code which they said would be sufficient. This was early July and I gave them the authorisation code and I've been chasing Arriva Buses for about 8 weeks now. No one has been in touch about this and they refuse to talk to me.

In Watford my daughter takes the bus to get to school, however they often do not turn up and the bus tracker on her Arriva app is very inaccurate. The price has now rocketed up and become very expensive. Unfortunately we are stuck with this dreadful company.

I would give 0 if I could absolutely discussing customer service, as we went to go on the bus the driver shouted at me and another person to get on now! Come on I want to go morve out the way of the door, we hadn't even paid clearly he wanted to finish his shift as he then went though a red light! Told me to sit down without paying then shouted oi to me to pay, bus number 6 going to asda! He shouldn't have a job!!

I use the X60 from Buckingham to either Milton Keynes or Aylesbury. It regularly fails to arrive and with 30 minutes between busses that is a long wait - IF the next one arrives. A diabolical service with old, rickety, and very noisy vehicles.

Waited over an hour for a bus yesterday, then when one turned up it had 'not in service' on the front. The driver let some people get off but refused to let anyone on even though there was plenty of room, saying he couldn't because he was running late. Eventually another bus arrived. On the way, the driver completely ignored a poor man, who clearly signalled for the bus to stop, and just sped past him. The bus stop was in the middle of nowhere and he'd probably been waiting ages too. I can't believe the contempt some bus drivers show towards the public, and I've never known the service be such a shambles in over 30 years of bus travel on this route. So many buses are late or cancelled, and are so decrepit they are regularly breaking down. Their customer services are a joke and their app is worse than useless! I do feel sorry for the nice, friendly drivers who have been treated badly by this company, as some reviews suggest. I'm sure they'd rather be working for a decent bus company that respects them and their passengers.

These experiences are related to the 500 services between widnes and aigburth.
Bus drivers are rude when you ask for a stop like "Leigh Avenue" the arriva app even calls it Leigh Avenue Bus Stop but the drivers look at your like your stupid. If you don't know the "local names" or "old names" or unknown references that only the bus driver knows, they say they don't know where that is and they give you even more attitude wanting to know specifically where you mean.
If a bus stop has a name on google maps and in your app then learn your damn job and the names and be nicer to folk that are paying for your service. It's not rocket science!
If a Bus driver is going to be a few mins late they just change to not in service or don't show up. The amount of times the scheduled buses never arrive is appaling.
Example, Waiting for a 500 bus from leigh avenue in widnes last week from 7:40 to 8:15 for one to show up. The app and online timetable said one was due around 8am.
The other big issue is if you buy a bus pass via the arriva my ticket app and show them it, the bus drivers think you want to try and use tap and pay to pay with your phone losing their temper when you try to explain you have a pass.
One bus driver bullied my girlfriend into paying for another ticket by her phone when she had just spent £55 for the monthly pass and had showed him that prior to having to pay for a single ticket. Fortunately she struggled getting the tap and pay authorisation to work and in the end he just told sit down but not to try doing this again. Really?! she had a pass that was fully paid for and showed you the barcode! If i had been there I would have dressed him right down and made him apologise. This was in the same 500 catchment zone.

You company is disgusting, you’ve made it impossible for customer to get there money back from your horrible service. Arriva have refused to continue with my complaint.
I’ve complained and have requested to take the matter further and to be compensated for my lose of earnings over the past 2.5 months. I was offered a voucher as a good Will gesture. This will not cover my lose of earnings. I want my money back please. I have all the paperwork you’ll need, my clients I work for are also happy to submit any details of this... I’ve kept every single bus tick for the last 2 years. I’ll also be tweeting the email I received. And I’ll also be letting the public know that your buses are not clean and there are also bedbugs on in your buses. As I’ve also got a video of your bedbug infestation on the majority of your buses.

I use the buses in Leicester and Hinckley. Apart from 6AM, they have never been on time. Often they don't come at all, only for the next one to be full. Today the last scheduled 7A didn't come, which made me miss my train. Once the driver let me one stop after (700m). App does not work properly so I have to pay more to ge the tickets from the driver. Horrible experience, one star is too much for this company. Prefer Stagecoach if possible.

Wish I never had to take a bus. Waste of time and money, when the tickets are so expensive. They never come on time and some never show up at all. Then there is no explanation which is more frustrating.
