Very disappointing with rude, abrupt customer service. I rang today to review my electricity plan and the gentleman that answered the phone was not only rude and abrupt but had just transferred me through without any courtesy or notification of where I was being transferred to. If your customers are that much of an inconvenience and staff are abrupt ,rude or just have been awoken over a simple query or your staff are just having a bad day or morale internally is that low, please do something about it or at least remind your staff members that, not only are your customers paying a lot of money for high electricity rates you charge, they are also paying for their wages. For this experience I am looking at switching my electricity company as soon as I can.

I choose NOT to be an AGL customer!!!! Did not like the way they try to manipulate you into thinking they are good. I read between the lines.
On top of being Australia’s biggest climate polluter, AGL is threatening to destroy the precious marine life and local businesses in Westernport Bay (Victoria) through building a massive gas import terminal in internationally recognised Ramsar wetlands. I’m not a customer, but I’d never consider switching to AGL if this project went ahead.

Been with AGL for gas and electricity for 8 months now. It has been a complete nightmare. First off, I kept supplying them with my metre number but they kept losing it so I had to contact them weekly when I was first getting set up. Secondly, they estimated an outrageous amount for my gas. They wouldn't take responsibility and told me they would charge me to send someone out to check the metre again which would essentially fix their mistake. Believe me when I say DO NOT USE AGL. On a side note, every person you speak with on the phone will tell you that they're manager. They aren't.

We only have one planet and building anything that will contribute more co2 is detrimental to all life. There is very little time to make amends to the earth for what we have done so far. Many Countries are now calling it a climate emergency it is real and it is critical that we stop raping the planet for money. We are bearing witness to mass extinctions of flora and fauna. This is another environmental disaster It would have dire consequences for the climate.Any company associated with this climate-wrecking project faces massive risk to it's reputation including being the target of the immense public opposition.

AGL are incompetent. Their bills are too high and you can never get a straight answer. Each time I call I get a different person with a different story. AGL needs to lift their game.

AGL is not an ethical company. They are planning to build a polluting gas project just off the shores of the Mornington Peninsula causing huge damage to the marine sanctuary. I would never be a customer of AGL.

I am deeply concerned about AGL's plans to develop a gas import terminal in Western Port Bay. This plan spells environmental disaster for the sensitive ecology of the Ramsar-listed wetlands the Western Port Bay contains, and should not go ahead.

I have been with AGL for electricity and gas for last 11 years. My average bill for electricity is around $200 for 3 months. MY lot of friends suggested me to move from AGL saying that they are expensive and unprofessional but I never decided to move. But last week a SA Power meter reader came to my home and I found that my meter is not working and showing an error message. After a week I received an electricity bill from AGL for $800 for 3 months. I was hell shocked and called the company and they even not interested to listen to me. They said this is an estimated bill on behalf of statistics in your area. They cannot average/estimate my bill from my history rather than they sent me 4 times higher amount bill and customer service staff said they cannot do anything. Very unprofessional staff. Now I can say they are thief….WORST COMPANY ever. Please, everybody, do not go with AGL for electricity and gas. There are many competitors in the market to try them.

I chose AGL as a supplier based on their advertising as a socially and environmentally responsible company.
It was really disappointing to learn about AGL efforts to push a huge gas terminal in Westernport Bay (a Ramsar Wetland, UNESCO Biosphere reserve) despite strong opposition from the local community.

If you are conscious of the impact you make when selecting energy providers - steer of AGL! The company to destroys the marine life and local business of the Westernport Bay region in Victoria with the Crib Point gas terminal they are wanting to build.
Australia does not need more gas - we have plenty at home already
This terminal will not reduce gas prices!!

AGL needs to educate their customer service they have most worst customer service I encounter in my entire life. I cannot forgive the customer service I talked he’s even saying bad words at me. Was on agreed plan which I was happy with and agreed too.
AGL was to advise of end of plan .
Found billing price increasing substantially and when I went to "resolutions" they advised I had been notified .????
Yes on review I found it smallest print on an account . Not clear unless you knew where to look - yes AGL you caught me out by more than 25% excess charges for the 4months out of contract .

Hands down the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. The lack of internal procedures for dealing with and following up of customer complaints is laughable.
My partner and I have since switched out residential and commercial accounts to to smother provider and have experienced much better levels of service.

Where do I start, I was with Energy Australia for a very long time. I changed jobs and the new company get good discount from AGL. So I switched to AGL with a good discount rate. Power bill was alright for almost a year and then it started to go up. I said to myself that electricity prices wen up so it is not a big deal. Then it went up again, and again. I noticed that my usage is going up too. Invoice went from around $400 to $1200 in less than a year. I use the online chat over and over. In on of the times I was told that the meter maybe faulty and it will be replaced with a smart meter anyway as part of the whole upgrade process. Once the smart meter was installed, the monthly average went down from more than 40kwh to less than 20kwh.
Spent few more hours on the online chat, I was told that the account will be on hold waiting for the new full invoice from the new meter to calculate an average. That quarter was the summer quarter, on of the hottest summers in a long time and of course the air condition was used a lot. Further more I have an extra guest in the house. With all of this, my average was 65% of the previous invoice.
At this time, my account was on hold and and overdue. Automated email, letters and call started coming. Everytime I go to online chat, the staff are very good and understanding of my situation but can not do anything about the automated communications.
Finally, I received an automated call with a disconnection threat. I said that is it I have to do something about it. One chat session and I was told that someone will contact me the following day. The following day came and gone and of course no calls. The following day on a chat I ask for someone in charge but of course there is no available. I was told that this someone in charge will call me the following day and I said if no one calls, you will not hear from me again and that is today.
I'm switching off AGL for good.
Now I understand that not everyone will face the same as me but it is the customer service that closed the deal.
Bye bye AGL we will be talking with the consumer affairs about our invoices.
PS. I had to put one star as it will not let me submit the review without starts at all which is what I wanted to do.

WORST COMPANY EVER. WORKERS ARE ALL INCOMPETENT!! I have been dealing with so many issues with these guys and everytime I call it's a different answer to my problems!!! Eg. I was told by one worker I could have my LAST gas bill added to the electricity payment plan I had before they had sent out the last bill to me which I agreed on and what do you know, I just find out today that APPARENTLY they dont combine payment plans!! So now I'm screwed having to waste more money on a separate bill and the payment plan I'm on ALL BECAUSE ONE WORKER SAID IT WAS OK AND NOW APPARENTLY ITS NOT IN THEIR POLICY!! Completely horrible and a massive headache!! I never will join with these guys again and do not recommend them to anyone else!! As for AGL TRAIN YOUR WORKERS TO ALL LEARN THE SAME INFO!!!!
