Not to be trusted, I bought Mcafee antivirus product over 3 years ago from Curry’s PC World and on Down loading The product a warning note came up on my computer saying there were many critical and serious faults on my computer ( up till this point I had used Norton antivirus with no problems). The warning note also said my computer had many viruses and security threats and they needed to be cleared before Macafee antivirus could be put on my computer and that I should click on the attached Support link to get them removed. This I did and was very quickly called on my mobile phone by an technician from yippee tech who asked for remote access to my computer, I was hesitant as he had a foreign accent but as he convincingly explained who yippee tech were and that they are partners to Macafee and that he needed to see all these faults etc, I reluctantly gave access and I could see he had taken over my computer, he asked me to log on and Then took over, a long list of codes that I could not understand came up and he said that my computer was badly infected and needed clearing or the antivirus could not be loaded on but I would have to pay yippee tech £70, eventually he persuaded me to give him my card details over the phone , then took over my computer again and for a short while he was telling me what he was doing (sort of! as I did not understand his accent too well and he was not really inspiring me with confidence, he seemed like he was telling me something but trying to concentrate on some thing else) after awhile he said that he was clearing all the faults and threats and was fixing my computer and installing Macafee antivirus for me and that this would take a little while; he then rang off and I could not get him back on the phone. The computer screen went blank then turned itself on and was updating/ loading. This went on for over 3 hours and as I could not get the technician back. I Became worried and decided to pull the plug on my computer. Later I restarted my computer And Macafee had not been loaded so I tried downloading the antivirus again and the same notices/ warnings about threats and faults came up again and I noticed that they were the same as before when I first tried and again recommend I click on the support link. This I did not do. Instead I found the contact details for Macafee And phoned them up. They told me that my product had already been use but agreed to install it for me, I asked about yippee tech and they did not understand why I was directed to yippee tech but but convinced me that yippee tech was a reputable company and When the antivirus was loaded I Changed all my passwords as a precaution and considered that would be the end of the problem. However the list of So called faults ( that’s if they were actually faults at all) Is still the same . After the 12 months I refused to continue with mcafee and went back to Norton antivirus and have had no problems at all with them. However over the last 2 years I have been receiving phone calls from yippee tech technician asking for access to my computer, every time from a different telephone number from different places all over the world Usually from the same male ‘technician” but some times from a woman. Every time I tell them I’m not interested or that the have the wrong number they continue telling me that they need to do an annual Check up on my computer; I have to hang up and block the number on my phone but this does no good as they ring back weeks later from a new number ( I continue to block all the numbers) . I don’t believe they did anything except scam me of £70 and are still trying to get more money, they did not clear the faults etc from my computer and if anything made it run much slower . I note there is a background program Running on my computer which is notified as “A background program needs to close” when I start to close the computer down but I can not find what it is to remove it, this may be nothing but it was not there before. I will not trust anyone again to have access to my computer.
I am still receiving nuisance calls from yippee tech and the last one was on 9th August 2020.

My computer had a message from Microsoft saying there was an error, that I was to ring Microsoft Tech support , so I rang number on screen and asked them to fix it. They said they could for around $500 and my computer was going to lose all it’s information , I had to hurry and they tried to scam me, said I had virus. I did not. They tried to put one on apparently
Lucky I hung up and took to Computer Geek in brisbane . They said it was definitely a scam. My computer is fine

I had problems with my McAfee and called what I thought was McAfee. The guy requested remote access to diagnose the problem and I gave it to him. He began looking all around my computer, showing me I have errors/warnings because I didn't upgrade to a newer version. He told me I would have to remove the old one and install a brand new version. The cost for their service and the new version would be $499 and I would have to subscribe to the service to get continued updates, at an additional $49 per month.
When I told him it wasn't worth it, since I had no issues the whole time it was not working, he told me to grab a pen/paper to write down some info in case I changed my mind. I said ok, I will be right back and while I sat there looking through my desk drawer, I noticed the SAM Lock Tool had been opened and I disconnected immediately. I can only think of one reason anyone would open that tool and that is to lock the whole computer with a password!
After reading a bit on the tool, I have come to understand scammers use it to hold your computer ransom, making you pay a lot of money for the password. This is not a company that should be allowed to access peoples computers!
these guys are scammers whom were using a fake address in Orange County .CA and now are using a motel room as their address at the Montebello Motel in Montebello .CA. they are actually in Mumbai India. They do nothing to fix your computer except steal and infect it and take your money.
