Yelp is the biggest scam going in business today! If you cancel your account, they continue to charge you anyway! They are literally the worst company I have ever done business with, and please people, save yourself the trouble, and never do business with them! They are the biggest CROOKS in the industry!

Yelp has charged me multiple times for something I never initiated and will not refund it. They said it was for advertising, but I didn't really get any extra business from it.

We own a small firm but have worked hard and with pleasure for the past 9 yrs to give our clients more than expected. We have over 112 positive reviews and maybe 1 negative which was based on a personal feeling and not regarding our services. YELP has only left to show 48 positives and hidden the rest. I look at our competitors and their hidden reviews are 90% negative with more positive to show. When speaking to YELP acct mgr the response is that is not up to her, the system generates it this way. We are very proud and needless to say love our clients and would love to show off how grateful we are of there time and kind words left for us. It's showing gratitude. So why pay over 2000 for advertisement or YELP acct if our hard work has limited showing? Think about it twice if you think everyone will see your hard-earned reviews. Why would a system make that decision, this is not the JETSONS !!! There are humans still to help, in this case, they will take your money, remind you it's due and YELP still hides reviews. This is really upsetting, I still out of respect and gratitude give all my reviewing clients a thank you though it's not showing via public. Whichever competitor adds more money to their marketing or acct is the one which reviews become more visible. ( How strange )
Of course, they won't tell you this when you call yelp!!!!! If you compare and follow your competitors, you will soon pick up on yelp strategies. We still carry more reviews then our competitors but they seem to have higher showing than ours.I pay for equal services, if we get a review, we should let the public see it.

A poor review on Yelp may be nothing more than a malicious attack by someone with a grudge. Unless the review cites specific, objective issues, it may be nothing more than a "hit piece" by someone seeking revenge. Yelp appears to have no standards for objectivity or fairness to weed out such attacks or to ensure that the review accurately characterizes the business. One review of my dental practice criticizes my personality as well as my office, without citing any specifics, and was written, I later learned, by a teenage boy who posted as an attractive young woman, using a photo downloaded from the internet. The comments about my office and me may make a much different impression on a reader who thinks they were made by a young adult woman rather than a high school kid. Even when this was pointed out to Yelp, they refused to remove or modify it, so they don't even care if the reviewers honestly represent themselves. It's a shame, because Yelp could be so much better than it is with a little conscientiousness. If they cared at all about reputable and reliable reviews, they could do something to weed out character assassination and online vandalism. But they are not concerned about quality or who is hurt. They are just hustling quick bucks, while hiding under the protective skirts of the First Amendment. These people are pathetic. Take Yelp reviews with a very large grain of salt!

Yelp is the most misleading advertising companies on the market. I am a small business owner trying to make a start in
Advertising. I was told i could have a trial period with $300 up front to use on ads.
I chose $15 a day using the upfront $300 and after 20 days i was charged $426 at the end of the month. Do not!!!! Advertise with yelp if you value your money!!!

Business buyer be ware - Yelp will provide a good sales pitch and 'promotions' to get your business promoted on their site and then nickle and dime you for trash leads. I was charged just under $947 for a 5 week campaign (Before I cancelled) that was set on a $450/month budget. Not worth your money - you will not get qualified leads - lots of better choices to promote your business.

I had been on YELP for 12 years. Always taking photos wherever I went, always reviewing the slightest of places. At first YELP seemed like a pretty righteous place. It appeared to be doing a very important public service, by letting consumers know which bad businesses to avoid and giving proper praise to the good ones. It was never a perfect system, they made mistakes but for the part it was usually on track.
They had recommended reviews and non-recommended reviews. The non-recommended reviews could be spotted a mile away. The negative ones were written in such a way that anyone with half a brain could tell that they done by a disgruntled former employee or maybe even an angry competing business. And of course, the fake positive ones that were often written by the business itself. You know the type, 1 review and 0 friends all written on the same day. But over the last few years, I've noticed an ugly trend. It seemed that not only were fake reviews being withheld from the overall score of a business but so were real ones. Including someone like me who had wasted my time on that site for 12 years!! There were businesses rated with one star although they had 5-star legitimate reviews in the non-recommended section that YELP refused to release unless they paid YELP off. There are also horrible companies on YELP that have 4 and 5 stars reviews on the surface but all of their one-star reviews are hidden, why? Because they paid YELP off for the favor.
YELP is nothing more than a fraudulent extortion scam. YELP does a disservice to the reviewers, to the public but most of all to businesses!!!! In this age of tech tyranny, I am almost ashamed of myself for ever being naive enough to think that their online reviews were legit. In fact, many online review sites are absolute garbage where the highest bidder can have negative true reviews removed or suppressed. And this becomes a real ethical issue because sometimes this bad review could be an incompetent Doctor who has killed someone or Lawyer who robbed a client, we're just not talking about someone's taco stand. But even if we were talking about that little taco stand, this is still unethical. How is a struggling small business supposed to survive paying off a dirt bag bully like YELP, they don't have the resources. With holding 5 stars reviews for a company like that could be devastating for them.
I reached out to YELP and received a condescending boiler plate email. They tried to blame it on their "software" or "the quality" of the review. There was a company where I gave a very detailed analysis and 4-star review that was "not recommended" but the recommended review stated "this place be whacked" with a one star. I went on my YELP profile and stated that I could no longer be a part of such a disreputable and fraudulent company that is pretty much presenting to the world FAKE REVIEWS! The public isn't deciding the reviews, BIG BROTHER YELP IS!! So, what's the point? Of course, in their revolting way of doing business they made sure they blocked me from their site, I say GOOD! Just wish I could get all my photos back! The public helped to build YELP but the public is who YELP is screwing over. Don't use YELP period. You can't trust the reviews because they are skewed and you shouldn't write any because they will be used in nefarious way and not how you intended and oh you poor businesses, run for the hills.
It becomes very depressing when you are an individual being bullied by a big rich and powerful diabolical entity. But if everyone who has been victimized by this filth, unites and stands together we can take YELP down. They have gone too far. Look at all their negative reviews with the BBB and all of the people who are complaining about them on Facebook on their own page. We must stop resigning our self to the false belief of "they are too big to be taken down", this only emboldens bullies like YELP, they must be stopped. Class action lawsuit, whatever it takes send YELP and its greasy CEO packing! Enough already with their mob like extortion and crimes.

They only take review from "active" Yelp user. Like profiles with hundreds of followers and tons of reviews. I tried to leave a review for this lovely spa I went to but my review were filtered into "not recommended" This spa said they took a hit on multiple bad reviews because these old ladies were being naggy and difficult, all because they weren't offered coffee and wine when they visited LOL and the spa was loud because it was busy...... Seriously. I don't think that's worth the spa being lowered to a 3 STAR spa. The services were great, best I've been to for my lashes!! Plus, I looked through these ladies profiles and all the reviews they left for these small businesses are horrible. It's like that's all Yelp users are consist of... naggy old people has lots of time on their hands. They were all one page long reviews. Who has time for that??

Our company has been making reputation management a top priority and so we have encouraged reviews for the past two months. It did not happen immediately, but as of today over half of the reviews we had are "not recommended". So the most recent review we have is from 2017. TWO YEARS AGO! I asked a Yelp customer service rep about it and of course there isn't anything they can do due to the software. But yet you can do something about a review that needs flagging?? It feels very one-sided. I will no longer refer to Yelp as a medium for reviews. Ridiculous!

I honestly love to eat and Yelp! is the perfect place for me to share my love for food and my dining experiences at all the great restaurants in my town and around the world. I have been a Yelp! Elite Reviewer for 3 years straight and I am enjoying every bit of the minor fame and noteriety I get from reviewing on Yelp! I'm not joking when I say people recognize me around my town and say to me " oh, you're the guy who does the Yelp! reviews " That's how INFLUENTIAL Yelp! is !
I have gained so much clout from Yelp! that I have a lot of readers in a large town 200 miles from mine so essentially my web presence, because of my reviews on Yelp!, extends about 300 miles. If you want to start something you have to start SOMEWHERE, and when I started reviewing on Yelp! 8 years ago I didn't think I would get anything out of it but I have. Yelp! has enriched and made my life better in so many ways and I am eternally grateful for this platform where I get to share my ideas and my thoughts on food and other things with the world!

Okay, I have a business website on yelp. I only got a website on yelp because I originally went to start one but half way through it, I stoped and never finished it. I kept getting these emails stating for me to finish my site I started. I got tired of getting the emails, so..... I went ahead a finished it. I figured, might as well, just another website to add to my already 4 websites. But then the phone calls started coming, and when I say phone calls! I mean, BLOWING MY PHONE UP!!!, kinda phone calls, voice mail after voice mail, and more emails and more phone calls. And all they stated was they could better my website for some money, or they wanted to look at my website with me (fir some reason), or they said they could get me more clients. Look, I am super busy! I stay super busy! I don't need any help with clients. I think it is Very childish and unprofessional for yelp employees to harrass some one like this!. Si I replied to one of the emails, and I stated something around the lines of, please stop blowing my phone up or I will file harrassment charges against you. Matter of fact, do not ever call my phone number again. Please stop sending me emails! I get a reply back from the yelp employee and he stated something like, okay, sorry to bother you. Have a nice day. Or something like that. This happened a few months back. Now,cindy September, they are doing the calling and emails all over again. I get more harrassment from them than I do robocalls or scams. SAD!!!I have phone records and voicemails saved, emails saved. I plan on filing harrassment charges because this is ridiculous! . In my experience and in my opinion, I would Stay away from yelp. Thank you everyone for listening. Have a blessed day.

I HATE YELP AND THEY CAN'T BE TRUSTED!!!!! Do not advertise on Yelp because they will remove your 5 star reviews and leave your negative reviews!! Research Yelp before you make the biggest mistake of your life!! Homeowners are being deceived by company reviews because the majority of company 5 star reviews are hidden and filtered. Companies Nationwide are filing lawsuits against Yelp and hopefully they get what they deserve and put out of business!!!

My clients cannot add their reviews.
After paid advertising, my business still lists at over 120. Even if I do a search from my own computer. I was disappointed with Yelp for years; any time I tried to find a relevant business, their search results were horrible. I found a simple Google search way more helpful.
After seeing their latest advertisements, I thought I would try them out, with my own business. Absolutely a total waste of time and money.

Yelp, in my opinion, is a terrible platform. They don’t reply to customer concerns and getting support is near impossible. I understand allowing reviews from consumers, however, the inability for businesses or employees to have any control over photos posted is absurd. People can take photos of anyone and post them without permission which is an invasion of privacy- employers and employees can have their photos posted by anyone. This is not legal. They’ll tell you flag the photo but nothing develops from doing so.
The company will remove reviews from businesses if they decide they do not want to advertise through yelp. How is this an honest review site then? I consider google reviews and searches over yelp hands down.

I own a very small business. To compete with others in my same business, I have to keep my pricing compatible to theirs. Yelp wanted me to pay a premium that would over extend the amount that I would make on the lead by 125 percent. That means, for every $100.00 I make, I pay Yelp $125.00. They thought I wouldn't do the math before I signed up. But I did. I told them I wouldn't do it. Now they have locked me out. I suggest to anyone who may be interested in Yelp... Do your homework!!! They will try to rob you blind.
