I stopped here for one night on a long haul drive from Texas back home to NC. I chose La Quinta because they always welcome pets. The area is safe, nice and close to restaurants and grocery stores. The hotel exterior is well maintained. Staff was helpful and worked with me when I called on the phone prior to my arrival. Rather than make me book through a separate deals website for the cheaper rate, they booked me at the same rate right then over the phone.
They gave me a handicapped room on the second floor. I'm not sure why they insisted on giving me this room - I'm not handicapped in any way that requires it. I think they did this as a way to make up for giving me the lower rate. Had I known it would turn out like that, I would've just booked online for the chance to get a normal room. My room was okay. Clean but felt a little awkward and warehouse-like. I read somewhere that with pets they make you take them in the side door, but that was not the case for me - nobody told me I had to do so.
My biggest complaint would be the noise. If not for that I would give four stars. You truly can hear everything from every room surrounding yours. I could hear banging or heavy items being dropped throughout the night. I was jarred awake around 02:30 by a slam in a neighboring room. I could hear a TV word for word next door too. Not sure what gives with this, but I've been in a lot of hotels in my life and never heard noise at this level. In any case Memphis is a cool town and I would like to visit again but would not likely stay here again for various reasons.

Stayed here on a business trip this week and was pleased with the customer service and cleanliness of the hotel overall. The room was very clean, except for what looked like a cat toy that was left in the trash can in the bathroom. There was a lot of noise coming from above my room when I went to bed, but after figuring out how to keep the fan on with the thermostat, the noise drowned out the sounds from upstairs. Fairly comfortable bed and lots of pillows! Super friendly staff, too. They aren't serving breakfast at the moment due to COVID-19, but we were given breakfast bags with goodies to take with us. Close proximity to several restaurants within walking, too. I would definitely stay here again.

Do NOT stay at the La Quinta in Memphis/Wolfchase as their employees steal. We stayed there last weekend and are regretting ever picking that place. My daughter left her glasses in the room and we called within an hour of checking out to see if they found them. The front desk agent said she had them and would hold them at the front. I came by this evening to pick them up and they were no longer where she left them. I asked them where they could have gone since they don't have feet and couldn't have walked off. They said there was one housekeeper they couldn't get ahold of and conveniently couldn't tell me when they'd talk to her. I called the cops and filed a police report, but i doubt I'll ever see the glasses again.
As if the thieving that takes place there wasn't enough, you can hear straight through the walls. There appears to be no insulation at all between rooms, keeping you from getting any sleep. Don't make the same mistake we did.

I haven't been disappointed by a La Quinta yet; a fact that contributes to my reason for always trying to find one during a road trip. I easily made my reservation through a 3rd party app and was greeted with two friendly smiles upon arrival. This particular La Quinta is also within walking distance of other restaurants, a few gas stations, and a nearby mall.
The lobby area is open, spacious, and clean. They serve complimentary breakfast 6-9am Monday-Friday and 7-10am on Saturday & Sunday. It's a smoke-feee hotel but the elevator definitely didn't smell that way. My guess is that it was due to the people who got on before us, but who REALLY know.
Overall it was a good stay and would definitely get 5 stars if not for the alarm clock. Yes, our alarm clock went off at 5 something a.m. but there was another....and no one was in the room....and it glared for almost 10 minutes...

This La Quinta now charges a $20 pet fee.
Still our choice when traveling with pup - just surprised.

I arrived at the hotel around 3am on 6/23. The lady working at the front desk at that time was very nice and welcoming! She offered fresh coffee, water, and a snack. She also let me park my car right outside the reception area so I could have a closer spot. She had an upbeat demeanor, especially considering it was 3am!
The room was very nice as well.

It wasn't a flea-bag motel.
Room was ok.
STADIUM LIGHTS (parking lot outside room) were enough to make me think I had slept in until noon on a sunny day. The curtains blocked most light - but when I woke at 5 am and saw that leaking through the curtains - I thought I for sure overslept...yet it was 5am, pitch black out and pouring rain. Those lights suck.
Room not very clean. Dirty towel hanging on rack (that I noticed AFTER I wiped my face on it this morning - found chocolate or some other smear on the "clean" towel. GROSS)
The corners of the bathroom could use a mop.
Bed was comfortable. Pillows a bit hard for my taste - but I'm picky about pillows. Bring your own!
Otherwise, location wasn't great, need to drive to eat.
Hot tub ice cold.
Not a fan of LaQuinta. Guess I'll stick with Hampton In for a cleaner room, comfier pillows and just standard class.

The hotel is one of the newer LQ's. Nice common area, curb appeal, and had plenty of grass for pets. Entering the room, the strong stench of dog urine hit our faces. It was already late, so I didn't want the hassle of moving all of our stuff into another room. The gentleman working the front desk that night (6/3/2018) was really pleasant and apologized for the mishap from housekeeping and sprayed air freshener when I asked for the spray. Our beds were clean and the room itself was clean visibly, but housekeeping also didn't place towels and a shower curtain in our bathroom, which the gentleman helped with.
Upon checking out, I told Catlin working the front desk, that the room should be shampooed because it wasn't when we checked in and to make sure it gets on the board for maintenance, so the next guests wouldn't have the same experience as us. She dismissed my comment completely and stated that housekeeping preps all the rooms cleanly for guests. Obviously it wasn't, that's why I wanted to make sure it got on the work order . She just looked at me. Side note: I've worked at a hotel before. Anyway, horrible customer service from Catlin by dismissing a guest's complaint.

Very clean and super nice staff. In the safe part of the outskirts of town, but still only a 20 minutes drive to downtown Memphis. Had absolutely no problems with my two dogs staying with us and no additional pet fee. The nicest la Quinta I've ever stayed at!

Staff was very friendly, hotel was very clean and tub was nice if a bit shallow, but the beds and pillows were hard as a rock and made it really hard to sleep without the assistance of sleeping pills.

Probably 3.5 stars but I just stayed in ~8 different motels across the country and this was the "worst".
Now it's not an entirely un pleasant motel it just did not live up to the 5 star rating I saw.
Front desk tattoos and piercings (you're free to decorate yourself this way... I don't have to like it) . But the disinterested attitude made it worse. Guy was milling about out front not really working.
Front desk always vacant.
Not bad but there are options. I suggest you find them!

After a week on the road and staying mostly at La Quinta Inns this was one of the nicest. Rooms were large and very clean. The only negative would have been when checking out there was no one at the front desk. I saw a lady finally go into front desk area but she did not acknowledge me but just walked into back office area. Waiting another several minutes before another lady came out and helped me. Not the greatest customer service for a hotel front desk. It would have been nice for a "just a moment and we will be with you sir".

First time visit to this hotel with wife and small dogs. Was favorably impressed with Mike and front desk reception as well as cleanliness and quality of the rooms and it is a newer property as compared with some older LaQunitas. Prime location if staying for a few days near shopping and many restaurants within walking distance. Safe area of Memphis just off the interstate. Would stay here again. Customer service excellent! Mike a great ambassador for the company and this property!

I am traveling across country. This is my 4th La Quinta in four nights. I am traveling with 2 adults 3 kids and 2 dogs. I called two hours ahead to reserve a room. I was told there were only a few rooms left. After hearing what was left I choose the king with 2 doubles(twins). When I get here I was given a king and a pullout. I explained that the number of bodies per beds that it was insufficient and not what I requested. I wasn't told that I must be mistaken because the family suites are not available. I was basically told too bad so sad and a nice political way. I was in told that they could also discount the room. I said that was nice however it still does not help my living situation. I gave it two stars because the place does look nice so I did not want to give just one Stars based off the incompetent staff. I have stated several hotels in my personal in military career and when things like this happen it makes my blood boil.

Nice balance between tourist attractions and out-of-way dining. This was a good place. A bit of a drive to the museums and the river, but the fact that the price was more reasonable and there were also local reasonable dining choices made it a winner. No real complaints on the hotel itself; we chose for location and price and it worked. Breakfast every morning was terrific. Very pleasant fellow travelers was a plus.

Active Duty Military Please Read!!!!
FROM THE MEMPHIS POLICE DEPARTMENT: "Don't stop here, stay here, or even eat here!"
Do not, under any circumstances stay at this hotel or in this area. I stayed here last week and my car, as well as 5 other vehicles parked in front of this hotel were vandalized. They broke my windshield and multiple windows, just to steal my stereo. The Memphis PD said this happens all the time in this area, and this gang is actively targeting military members since they know this is a busy moving season for military personnel (4 of the 6 vehicles vandalized were military). Just hours before the La Quinta was hit, 6 more cars were vandalized across the street at the Holiday Inn Express, literally 200 yards away. All 6 of the La Quinta Inn vehicles were all broken into about 15 yards (maybe not even that) from the front desk clerk at the La Quinta Inn. The police said it took these guys at least 10-15 minutes to hit all of these cars. Now you're telling me, 4 guys smashed 10+ windshields and windows less than 50 feet from the front desk manager, and NO ONE heard anything???? And the police weren't called until 3 hours later! There were also multiple security cameras that have these guys on tape doing this in the parking lot, and no one from the front desk was monitoring them at all??? I completely understand not physically intervening from a safety perspective, but...
Here's where La Quinta really screwed up:
To make matters worse, the next morning we had to wait about 6 hours to get our windows repaired. Checkout was at noon, and we asked if we could extend a mere 2 HOURS in our room, so we weren't stuck outside in the Memphis heat with our dog and a 2 year old. The girl working the front desk denied us, and said she would ask the hotel manager. She then sat on her iPhone for the next 2 hours, not giving a F***.
It gets better:
Eventually I ran into an employee who appeared to be the hotel manager in the front parking lot. His only response to me and the other people waiting was "Welcome to Memphis. This happens all the time. They're just looking for guns." And then got into his car and drove off.
La Quinta Inn had an opportunity to turn around a terrible situation into a positive one, by doing something as easy as giving us just 2 more hours in our room, or God forbid, keep the breakfast bar open for a couple extra minutes so we could at least get something to eat since we were all outside all morning filing police reports, and calling our insurance companies. After all, it was the least they could do following the incredible failure of their front desk manager the night before, and they blew it. I am sure if the corporate headquarters for La Quinta knew how poorly this hotel treated their guests in the aftermath of a vehicle crime spree on their property, they would be appalled.
The sad thing is, this hotel is actually one of the better La Quinta Hotels for the La Quinta group. It is just so unfortunate it is in such a terrible area, and the staff working here care so little about their guests.
Regardless of how you take this review, if you do nothing else, at least listen to the warning from the local Police Department about not staying here. This hotel is actually in a clean-looking area, with two restaurants and other hotels a short walk away. By all appearances, you would not expect something like this to happen here.

This hotel is one of the nicest one's in the LaQuinta group. From the people at the front desk, housekeeping and the rooms themselves, this place is a class act.
We have stayed here twice now and in nearly 5 years in between it has remained the same.
Mike at the front desk has been there for that time. Excellent customer service, upgraded my room as the carpet wasn't quite dry from shampooing the day before. And after handing me the keys shook my hand which rarely happens in the hospitality industry.
Can't say enough. LaQuinta got a winner when they hired Mike.

Wonderful location in Memphis. They allowed let's and did not charge. The rooms were large and quiet even with all the pets. We loved it here and will recommend it to anyone.

Just returned from a 2 night stay. This is a very nice new La Quinta just east of Memphis. It is a bit of a drive to the downtown area if you are planning a visit to Memphis but well worth the trip.
Stayed in a Queen double and it was nicely appointed and quite spacious. The beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows (which are important to me) and the linens are quite nice. The bathroom is roomy and the towels are first class.
There is a complimentary breakfast buffet with some sort of omelet that was quite good and also plenty of bacon and sausage patties. There is a waffle iron and cereals and fruit and pastries. It is very good.
The front desk staff, Mike in particular, was great. It's a very nice hotel in a very nice area with a selections of restaurants in walking distance.
I highly recommend this hotel.

I will start off by saying that my husband and I stay at LaQuinta's often. My husband is active duty military and we travel very frequently for work and pleasure. We always choose this chain because it's always a good value and excepts pets. Our old dog bella has been staying with us at this chain for 5 years, possibly 30-40 times. An hour before we were set to arrive at this location I received a call from "Mike", asking me when we planned to arrive. I found this odd, because we have stayed many times and no one ever cared when we were arriving. After a 10 hour day of traveling in the car we were ready to be there. Mike noticed that at booking I had indicated I was bringing a pet and asked her weight. She's an old fat Bouvier that weighs 105. He immediately said they don't accept pets that large. That's weird she has stayed at this chain across the country with no issue. I assured him that she would be no trouble and since we were loyal members could he make an exception to a policy that has never been posted on conveyed? He refused and was very rude about it. He suggested we take her to a location about an hour out of our way. Obviously this was unacceptable. How do you call a person an hour before and cancel them? Being that we always stay with this chain it caused us to scramble to find a place. We ended up staying at the quality inn, in the same area. I realized when looking for another hotel that laquinta was booked. Seemed very suspicious that all of a sudden pets are not allowed and I was called at the last minute. Looks like they over booked or made a mistake, and decided that they would cause chaos in my travel plans to make up for it. Very disappointed in laquintas customer service, we had recommended them to so many other military friends who have to travel with pets. However, I think we will be looking elsewhere from now on.

This was our first time staying at a La Quinta Hotel and we were more than pleased. From check in to check out, it was a pleasure to stay here. The location near Wolfchase cannot be beat and there are a myriad of restaurants and stores nearby. It is also right off of I-40 with easy access to all Memphis attractions. The price was right for the location and it provided a hot breakfast to boot! Friendly staff with extremely clean rooms, granite counter tops in the bathroom and comfortable beds and pillows. NO CRITTERS!
