I have to pay for garbage service as I live in an outlying area where service is not included in my property taxes. WM charges an outrageous price, and they miss my garbage pickup at least once per month. I am never credited for my missed pickups. They refuse to send a truck on an unscheduled day when they miss my house, so I have to wait another week with garbage piling up and no where to put it. They are crooks. There are no words to express how much I despise having to use WM because there are no other options in my area.

I do not recommend using this company! They are NOT small business friendly, and even though the original contract expired, they insisted we still had to provide 90 day's written notice we wanted to end the SERVICE!

WM empties my dumpster 9 times a month, but if it's "10 inches too full" once, they DOUBLE my charge for that month.
(they keep this secret till the money comes out of my account on auto debit)
To fix this, they demand I empty the dumpster TWICE as much, so I can pay full price for half empty dumpsters (no credit if only half full, just massive penalty for a few inches over).
What modern trucking company has to have such an INFLEXIBLE scheduling system???!

If I could rate this service 0 stars, I would.
I switched the account into my name over 4 years ago, and they are unwilling to close the account since i am not the originator of the account. Terrible service to accommodate

Never pick up on time, even after multiple calls. Customer service is a joke and so is this company. All you will receive is excuse after excuse as to why your garbage has not been picked up. They will yes you along all the while NOT doing what you pay them for, PICKING UP THE TRASH. If you have another option, use it. This place does not deserved your money.

Horrible service. They seem to always manage to overturn my trash can and never dump all the trash that ends up on the ground!!

I cancelled my service due to a constant increase in my bill. The representative I spoke with told me he noticed I did not have one of their garbage cans. I said I did. He then informed me that I would have to pay $75 for them to pick it up. This is what I got for being honest. I will not do business with this company again!

Don't do business with this rude, disrespectful company! They arrive before 7 a.m. and visit their noise terror on the entire neighborhood. They don't care that they are breaking the law by arriving so early in the morning in order to bang large metal dumpsters and grind their truck's engine. It's impossible to sleep with this racket, and even though I have complained about the problem at least six times, nothing has been done to mitigate the problem. Most days they arrive shortly after 7 a.m. so even though in that case they're not breaking the law, they're still heedless of residents' need for sleep.

Negative stars if I could. Impossible to get any help! I got an email in Nov to say I needed to update my CC info (previous card compromised), so I went online to do so. That led to another email telling me I was "unenrolled" from the auto-pay program. I tried to reply to that email, but it was rejected by the postmaster. I went online and tried to deal with their virtual chat assistant, who/which was not even CLOSE to understanding the problem. So I had to go back and re-enroll for preauthorized payments. I finally found what seemed to be a way to contact them via email, and got a reply 25 Nov 2019, that they would be in touch in 1-2 working days. It is now 21 Dec, and they emailed to say that my CC has been declined. All the CC info on my account page is correct. Is their system STILL trying to process the old card after all the efforts I made a month ago? No way to know, as they cannot be reached...

Is there a way to have a 0 review. This is the most dishonest company out there. They will lock you into contracts without proper signing authority and then charge your 2x the market price and raise every year. How they are still in business and have not been sued multiple times I'm surprised. They currently have my company locked in from back 2013 with some auto renewal clause. They will be reported to BBB for unfair contract practices for sure.

Waste management is one of the most dishonest and untrustworthy garbage disposal companies. Our business has been a customer with this company for over 10 years with this as our last. This company will pick a few dollars over making their long term customers happy and want to stay. This price gouging company has increased their price 4 times higher than any competing garbage service. In addition, our account representative does not help in any way and makes sure her accounts are treated poorly. Don't be a fool and use this company as your garbage disposal.

Can not believe after all the years I had service and stayed with them even though they raised prices really high almost up to 90.00 every 3 months. I finally figured get cheaper service. I called to cancel asked when they would pickup canister. They told me I had two options. They could pick up or I can drop it off. But if they pick up it's $75.00!!!!. I said excuse me. She said a 3rd party picks up. If I return I only have 14 days to get it back to the drop off site. ( what if I don't have a big enough car to put a trash dumpster in!?)
I would not recommend this business. Plus they say get trash out by 6AM. They dont get there till afternoon most of the times.
Very disappointed after 15 years of service. I should charge them a delivery fee and a fee to clean my car out having to put a trash dumpster in my car. If it will even fit in there. I may have to tie it to the back like a wagon.
I have already told at least 20 people that I spoke to today. & I will make sure my whole block knows as well. Since they have services throught this company!!

Would NOT recommend Waste Management! I had been a customer for 17 years and they would not let me transfer my service and carry over my account balance which they took out of my credit card every quarter. I only use 1 month and lost the money for the other 2 months. They also missed picking up my garbage a couple times a year.

Yard waste missed again!! Common occurrence. Even when you try to accommodate the pick up crew by cutting up debris into small pieces, limiting the weight and putting it is cans and placing them out the night before. Their trucks just fly by not even braking. I have called customer service and they said they were coming out before Close of Business and to leave my cans out by the street. It never happens. I have found it to be more consistent dumping all the yard trash out of the cans and into a pile and calling a Clam truck. I have given up trying to be Green with this company.

We have used a number of private trash haulers over the past 30+ years however Waste Management is THE ABSOLUTE WORST! We switched to them a few years ago after being assured that our quarterly fee would remain stable for at least 2 years. THEY LIED! And trying to get bill adjustments has been INFURIATINGLY FRUSTRATING! THEY HAVE LIED OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!! EACH AND EVERY TIME I AM TOLD THEY WOULD CONSULT A SUPERVISOR AND CALL ME BACK about a bill credit... NO CALL BACK! They also take the brown paper yard waste bags and throw the yard waste in with the regular trash! What is the point of buying these bags and separating leaves and yard waste if the hauler is ENVIRONMENTALLY IRRESPONSIBLE?!? GOOD RIDDANCE to WASTE MANAGEMENT - and save yourself AGONY, FRUSTRATION and MONEY - DO NOT EVEN SIGN UP, as their cancellation fees EXCEED a full month of quarterly service.... Don't fall for the tricks of a month of "free" service for referrals either - they do not honor this and if or when they do, you will be over-billed on the next invoice...

I set my garbage out last night secured with a bungee cord to keep animals out. Needless to say at 625 this morning while rushing my child to the bus stop something had gotten in my trash and made a HUGE mess. Upon my arrival back home, Nelson and Dillon were about finished cleaning it all up. I was so thankful and they were so kind and professional!!! Thank you so much!

The yard waste service men were very accommodating in picking up my waste. They waited just a minute for me to retrieve my bag that I had forgotten to put at the curb. The men were extremely professional and polite. Thank you for your service,

Absolutely the worst transfer station I have EVER been to! I'm pretty sure I have been to just about every transfer station that exists in the Chicagoland area but I will avoid this one like the plague! The Nasty Old Hag weigh-master was a raging -B, (Read everyone else comments about her WM, Maybe time to fire the wench??) and made me dump my load into a dumpster in lieu of actually going into the transfer station. I then got to watch her staring and laughing at us from the weigh station. Total ended up being over $105.00 per ton to dump here which is BY FAR the most I have ever paid to dump debris. There are plenty of competitors to choose from over this place, Save yourself the $$$ and headache and go somewhere else!

Mediocre service, ridiculously arbitrary policies, and--because they are a monopoly--no accountability.
Most of the time, they do what they should (pick up trash on the days they are scheduled). They frequently show little regard for property when they do so, however. I have had to complain repeatedly to get them to (mostly) stop hitting the side of my building with trash bin lids as they swing them quickly to the ground close to the building.
The latest infuriating experience has lead me to discover they have bizarrely arbitrary policies which they will double down on. Every year, each customer in my area is entitled to four free "bulk" (large) item pickups intended for items that won't fit in regular bins. Per their policy, they will pick up furniture, appliances, etc. My situation: I have 6 long (80") boards that used to be the sides of an Ikea bookcase. I have been told repeatedly by multiple customer service [sic.] reps that they will not pick them up unless I cut them down to no more than 4" each... at which point, they would fit in my bin and there would be no purpose in having them pick them up. (Of course, if I had the tools and means of doing so, I would have done this already without researching how to dispose of larger items.) To illustrate why this policy is arbitrary: they readily agree that if I wanted to throw out my sofa, which is larger in every dimension that these 6 boards combined, they would do no without issue or further requirement. I'm relieved to know I wont have to chop my sofa into bits should I ever need to dispose of it. However, this does not help my present issue. They seem incapable of recognizing the absurdity of their position, and I am stuck with boards in my garage for the time being.
