Waste Management is very inflexible. They took over the garden waste company I used to have a contract with. The previous company had a very good online system, that I could log into, find out my account information and skip collections, provided that I didn't skip too many and that I gave them sufficient notice.
Waste Management has NONE of these features.
4 months after cancelling my account with them AND requesting that let me know what my final balance I received another invoice with little clarification of when this was for. Keep really good records of any communication you have with them, if you are promised anything, get it in writing and take names. I phoned them, told them what I had done, explained that I did not owe anything. I was put through to their accounts department and was told that the account would be cleared. 4 months later I was contacted by a debt collection agency.

Four years no problems. The past year however has been plagued with sporadic service, missed pickups and a schedule change which they assured us has always been the pickup date. Ummm, I know what trash day is for the previous 4 years. Today is the final straw. Contacting "customer service" about yet another missed trash collection, we were told the regular pickup could not be made as the road was closed. We were then informed that they could come pick up today for $125. Really? Time to cancel service and move on.

They are absolutely horrible. Had waste management twice and all it becomes is problems. I set up garbage at my new house and paid the bill... two days later the garbage is supposed to be picked up and I come home and it is still here. I go to file a missed pickup which I have filed many times and now it says my account is inactive. I just called a week ago and paid the bill 20 days before it was due. How is my account inactive?

I have had this service or 30 years I have been treated badly I live on a cul-de-sac and every so often the guy misses our recycle bin and it’s right next to the neighbors and then we call and complain for them to come back and pick it up and he comes back and drops glass all over the cul-de-sac and then we call and complain about that and now I am restricted on putting glass in my recycle bin?? You have people representing you you could care less about the service I am paying for. It looks as though Jim fishers Code of conduct maual is not being taken seriously by these employees . I am being harassed and I wanted to stop all I want is what I’m paying for. I want your employee to do his job pick up the bins empty them and then move on. Am I being discriminated? Please advise

Very impressed with my service and customer support!!! WASTE MANAGEMENT took on a huge Customer load last month and although it took a few weeks for everything to get ironed out, I am completely satisfied with the service I get!

We are like so many others. WM miss our road and when rung on a daily basis we are told it will be today. But it isn't. You get the impression they know full well it won't happen. Really really really bad service. Will be looking for an alternate service when this year's contract is up. I'll keep the bin rather than pay their pickup fee

You can read the review to know what I am talking about, but while customer service in the Colorado office I was calling (there are several) was totally inadequate and showed no glimpse of remotely caring, the nice people at their corporate offices took a few minutes to actually go over the history and all of the calls I made and saw that I was right. They reversed the charges right away and apologized. Maybe I was quick to judge but I have worked at large corporations and typically everything is standardized even down to how they greet you when they pick up the phone. So I made an assumption about the whole company when it was just the center that services my area.

Had WM for 6 years, during which it was common to go two weeks between trash pickups, 4 to 6 weeks between recycle pickups, and any time we would call they would say they can't get it till next week. On top of that they are the most expensive option available. Finally we cancelled our service effective 1/29/20 and were told that the empty bins will get picked up later that day. 7 days and 13 phone calls later the bins were still there. I got tired of being lied to and of wasting 30 minutes on the phone each time. So I brought the bins back inside the fence. Two months later in late March I got a bill from them for the bins and they claimed they stopped by twice and the bins were not there. I called them and we agreed on a Thursday and I put the bins out. I get home in the afternoon and they had picked up two bins and left the other two. I called them again and by morning the other two bins were gone. Two months after that in early June I get a bill from them for the "missing" bins for $150.36. I decided I'm not going to keep calling when they obviously don't keep records of the calls. I wrote a letter explaining everything I mentioned here and asked them to contact me if they have questions. I got another letter 7/21/20 that was dated 7/15/20 and it said that this is the final demand notice. So again I called, and again I told my story, and I was told this was already in collections. I am not going to pay them for something they already took back, so I guess we are going to court.
They are the poster child for a large corporation that doesn't give a damn about their customers and who will try to get their money from you twice because they are huge and they can. I will update this review once we do go to court in a few months. I'm certain we will because I am not going to pay their collections agency. What a bunch of crooks.

This company has been unreliable from day one. My pick up day is suppose to be on Wednesdays. Instead, they come on Thursdays consistently. Furthermore, I had a missed pick up. My trash stayed on my curb for 1 week. My rating for this company is actually 0. I've had to call customer service at least 5 times. I've only had the service for 1.5 month. I am going to change trash service ASAP!

If I could give less than a star, I would.
My service with them was over February 28, which was my last pick up day. I called them a week before I was to renew, and let them know that I wanted to cancel my service. The girl just said, OK, Then proceeded to tell me it would be $75 to pick up the trash can. I told her that was absolutely outrageous and that the can could stay. Well, I put my trash out for the last pick up, and what do they do?.......They take the can. I am now receiving bills that are almost DOUBLE what my service cost, and when I call, they tell me that it is the cost to pick up the can and LATE FEES!!! I called again because I received another bill and again told the girl I was not paying $75 and Late Fees, that was outrageous. I told her they could bring the can back and it can sit here because the fee was ridiculous. She told me she would talk to her supervisor and hung up. I come home today to find ANOTHER Bill in the mail for MORE money! I did not sign any contract saying that I would pay $75 for them to take THEIR can back. Do not deal with this company at all if you can. They do not care about anything other than making money. When I called to cancel my service, the girl did not even try to retain me as a customer. The worst Customer Service EVER!!!

To save your time, here is a summary before I go into the details.
My order never showed up.
I was charged.
I was told what I ordered did not exist after I called the customer service.
There was no offer to remedy the issue or make up for my loss of time because of the company's internal issue.
They offered to quote me for ANOTHER dumpster.
Not even an offer of refund.
I was put on hold six times and hung up on.
Sincerely, don't use this company. There are cheaper options in the area.
The details...
I ordered a rolloff dumpster on waste management's website seven days ago, for drop off yesterday the 7th.
In the order form it asks for your address and then shows all available dumpster sizes. In this list I was able to select a 12 yard dumpster. The order was confirmed by email and I was charged over 500 dollars on my card.
Yesterday came, and no one showed up. I received no emails, or phone calls suggesting anything was wrong with my order or that it was delayed. I called their customer service line at around 4:30pm to get an ETA. I was transferred over almost immediately to another agent who explained to me that they dont offer 12 yd rolloffs and that both the drop off and pick up was marked as "boarded". Even though nothing was ever said to me.
The agent then offered to quote me for a 20 yard dumpster and to set up a new delivery. I told her that they could send me a larger dumpster, but I would not pay more, especially now that I would have additional wait time to complete my project.
I was transferred again to another department. When I was received by the new agent they explained I should have not been transferred but would try to help. To save them time I explained to them my situation and that I would accept a replacement dumpster with no additional billing or a refund. They transferred me over again, to someone who then immediately hung up on me.
No one ever called back or checked up on the order. Even though I am still here with no dumpster. Sitting on my project.
I had to call and request a refund. I was again transferred over. Through a loop of automated options that brought me back to the same agent... who then requested a refund for me.
This is one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever encountered. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

Waste Management in New Richmond
We had WM service for 3 years. It started off a little rocky. Two weeks in a row they did not pickup our trash. They said we did not have our bins out when the trucks went by, which we had them out by five in the morning. Turns out they were looking at 140th Street and not Avenue. Most of the time after this incident things went well enough. When I went to discontinue my service the woman helping me cancel asked me why and I told her our neighbors own Hometown Disposal and we have decided to be supportive of their business. She responded rudely saying "What, did you just move in? They've been around for a couple of years." I don't think I need to explain myself, though there is a logical answer. To top it off, they are charging me $50 to pickup the garbage bins. So, if I don't pay that fee, do I get to keep them? I don't know if that's normal with other garbage services, but I do know that lack of manners will cost you future business.

The drivers will no call no show and lie claiming the cans were not out. This happens frequently. Randomly a full can will remain after pick up. Complaining does no good.

Depending on who's working my neighborhood shifts, EVERY TIME, the person will leave up to 3 trash bins directly outside my driveway; mine and a few neighbors. It's super annoying and inconvenincing when these are the type of neighbors who don't bother retrieving their own trash bins, and will end up being left there until the next pick up date. But I noticed there are some who will leave the trash bins in front of each house and not jumbled up. Unfortunately, the person who picks up mine never does that. Can't attach photos?

I ordered a dumpster, they charged me for the dumpster, no dumpster was delivered. There was an IT issue during the charge and I received an "error" message that the order was not placed. The charge ended up going through the next morning anyways. The dumpster never arrived on delivery day. When I asked for a refund they punted me back and forth between the online services department and the telephone department. Then made demands that I show them a "screen shot" of the error message (an order that was placed 2 days ago) and that i mail them in copies of my credit card showing that I was charged.
in this day and age how do companies stay in business with this many bad reviews? You have been warned. Try them if you feel like you will be the 1 out of 10 people that has a good interaction with them.
*Update - 11 days after I put in for a refund, WM contacted me to "make it right". There is already a fraud dispute with my credit card company, "make it right" with them.

I had service through Waste Management several years ago. I ended the service when they did not collect my garbage two weeks in a row. When I called, they gave me an excuse about the snow...and not being able to get through. Funny - I saw Bestway trucks rolling along in my neighborhood just fine. I discontinued service and went with Bestway (now GFL). At that time I contacted Waste Management several times to come pick up the garbage bin. They never came. I put it in my back yard and forgot about it. Now I am trying to get them to come pick up my bin, and I have spent the last week trying to get them to pick it up. I have called, emailed, online chatted...to no avail. They keep telling me I never had an account with them. They couldn't seem to get past the fact that they could not find my account. Even when I asked them to just pick it up, whether I had an account or not, they still could not help. You would think this bin is expensive and they would want it back! Ugh! Waste Management is horrible!

Horrible customer service. I've been a customer for over 10 years.
They raised my rates without notice or even sending a bill! Because I pay automatically, I only found out when I started receiving notices of service suspension! I found a new company and cut my bill in half.
After all this, they charged me $30 to come pick up their trash receptacle.

Don't trust them. Hired a large dumpster to clean out a house & demo. Paid upfront. They then came back & wanted 200 more for it. Saying it was heavier than the 5 tons. There is no way there was that much in there. There was nothing out of normal. I have never had a company come back & say I had 3 more tons in a 40 yard dumpster. They lie, and cheat the little guy. I will never use them again. Would give them a negative star if I could.

Trust me never go with waste management if it can be avoided. As of lately the service has declined even further. They did not pick up all our trash. Customer service, which is a joke in the title also, stated they would have someone come back out. That never happened. Even to try to cancel service with them they will not reimburse the unused amount. Very displeased i hope that anyone who reads this will not go with waste management or if you have them look elsewhere. You are definitely overpaying as we found out when we looked around.

This is a poor excuse for a waste management company! I don’t think they can “manage” themselves! Since they took over the waste disposal for my neighborhood they seem to think that they can pick up not on the scheduled pick up day but whenever they feel like it! I’m sure with as much as they charge for this service they should be giving refunds when they fail to do their job! Going into another week with no pickup😡

They drive right by half the time. I'm constantly calling and they say; "Oh, sorry, we'll get it next time," but they don't. My neighbors across the street and next door have decided to give up and burn theirs in the back and front yard. Burning plastic stinks. Today with recycling the guy looks in the can, and I guess decides it's just a few cereal boxes and papers so he just leaves it. Why can't people just do their job?

Nothing but a terrible experience from the second I started using them. Overpriced, website is horrendously designed, i'm getting a massive run around trying to cancel my services. I had one bag I couldnt fit in my trashcan and left it just beside and they couldn't be bothered to pick it up.
